Considering buying a Trinity. Has the screen/menue issue been resolved yet? - P3600 General

I've been reading hundreds of posts about the P3600 and what's alarming to me is the issue that many were having with the start menue repeatedly activating by itself. I read that it was due to a bad motherboard. I'm just wondering if this was a batch issue and if the P3600's that are being sold now will potenially have this same problem.
It's such a great phone - I'd hate to have to send it back for repairs for weeks and hope they get it right.

screen alignment problem on HT634 Vario II

I'm really pissed off... being an medical intern I really need my Vario II (allready gave away my Vario I) and now I'm experiencing the screen alignment problems as described in previous versions! I was told these problems were solved and now have to re-align my screen about every time I turn on my phone.
Is anybody else experiencing this problem?
anyone who told that this is solved is a joker....
even the HT635XXX is having problem... you can return it back, and wait or go to another unit.
It's an expensive bet on a gamble
Today I received my repaired tytn back. SN HT627.
According to the serviceburo it should now be repaired according to the instruction of HTC.
parts used:
1x Gasket, Keypad.Apache For.
1x MYLAR,LCM CONN, BREEZE FOR
So, hopefully this really solved the problem.
Regards,
Piet
let us know.... if fixed.. it means it's a HW issue.. but dont know why even the latest batch still suffers on this ...
Screen alignment problem
Those of us with this pesky problem are just dying to hear how "pietg" is getting along after the mylar film Liquid Crystal Monitor connection has been replaced. Not quite sure why they changed the keyboard gasket.
Not that we want to hassle "pietg" but if this is the cure some of us will be straight in there with the tools for another look!!Best give it a few days as the problem sometimes vanishes for lengthy periods anyway - especially I've noticed after you've done a reassembly. (just as you think it's cured it's back)

Will give it a week before judging the repair.
Finally I will be able to start using this thing. A lot to learn, also a lot of usage. So if the problem returns it should be back in one week.
(By the way, the first time to problems occured after I started carring hte phone in my pockets. And the phone came under "pressure".
I wonder when other users are getting back there repaired Tytn, the same parts are replaced.
To be continued ......
hereby an update.
Untill totday still no problems anymore.
So for me the problems are solved.

Good news, partly based on your earlier post on parts replaced, I did my own fix which is also still working well.
Just ocassioally when drawing in "notes" I get spikey lines i.e. when drawing a straight line it actually draws a line with v shaped peaks or sometimes a line like a sinusoidal wave. It always settles down within a minute or so, no need to realign. Once when it happened I noticed the WiFi was reconnecting after a broken connection. This spikey line issue is not a big prblem and I think is unrelated to the usual screen alignment issues. I got the feeling it was caused by power surges or leakage currents when the device was performing power hungry tasks? I saw a LCM manufacturers site that said reistance based LCMs are highly suceptable to both power fluctuations and leakage current interferance.
Anyway your post pretty much confirms the physical cause of most folks general alignment problems.

X01HT hardware problems with phones bought in Roppongi Softbank shop?

Hi all,
I know a few people who are having hardware problems with their X01HTs... They worked beautifully for a while, but then things happened: On two units, the radio is intermittent at best -- they can sometimes send and recieve SMSes, but can almost never talk on the phone, and when you try to download the Call Barring etc. settings from the network, it freezes up. On another unit, the camera went bad, and when they go to the email screen, the unit will just start flashing until they need to reboot it.
These phones were all unlocked exactly the same way as mine (with imei-check) and are all running the same ROM as mine. I have never experienced even a hint of a problem.
It just struck me that all of the three problem phones were purchased from the Roppongi Softbank shop in the second or third week in November. I bought mine from Yodobashi Camera in Shinjuku, and other people who have bought the phone at other Softbank shops haven't got any problem.
Is it possible that the Softbank shop in Roppongi had a bad batch of phones? Is anyone else experiencing random hardware failures like these?

I got my X01ht on the day they were released (not at Roppongi though) and a few weeks later the radio died (while on a trip overseas where I really needed it to be working!).
They warranty replaced the unit and it's been working fine ever since.
It's possible they had a high failure rate at the initial release... I'm not sure if Roppongi had a bad batch or if they had high failures nationwide.

Screen Alignment - T-Mobile returns policy

After reading through the faq and seeing that the screen alignment issue is a hardware problem and won't be solved with a ROM upgrade as I had hoped. I just wondered if anyone had spoken to T-Mobile about this and what there response is. Will they replace the device for one that doesn't have the problem how did later (serial no devices fix the problem? (Mine is a HT 634 Vario II)
(The SA issue has proved to be a huge problem for me and almost makes the device unusable).
it was such a common problem I'm sure T-Mobile will replace the unit. Get them phoned, get new handset, get happy!
Sent my device back to T-mobile and it was replaced but soon had SA problem back.
Contated them again and they gave me the option to send it to HTC, i did this and got the same device back but with new LCD and since no SA problems.
I was within the number of days from purchase (forget how many), and they replaced my device immediately. Had to go to CS and after checking that I'd tried soft reset etc, they put me through to tech dept who checked the same thing, but the upshot was, they couriered a new phone to me at work and I gave them the old one and kept the new one. A1 service.
I had no problem at all with T-mobile when I got the screen alignment problem. They were really helpful and did the same as the last post, sent a replacement by courier and collected the faulty one at the same time. I was two weeks into the contract and they told me that their policy is to give a replacement if the contract is under 30 days. After that I think you have to send it away for repair.

Hermes stops responding to screen taps/registering false ones - HW issue?

One weird problems I've been experiencing with my new Hermes:
After some use, typically half an hour or a little less, it the screen stops responding to my stylus. Resets do not help, but keeping it completely turned off for a while seems to help - it's almost as if its overheating (silly, I know, but that what's the only thing I can come up with). The buttons, all of them, work well though.
Another weird problem I also experience, that I presume is linked to this, is that it seems to start registering stylus taps - typically in the upper right corner, constantly. This leads to all programs I have running getting closed, and I have to to the same thing again - leave it of for a few minutes before it starts acting normal again.
I use The Black 2.0 WM6 ROM, but no one else using this ROM has reported this issue as far as I know. I've tried keeping it "clean", i.e. not installing any software on it, but that does not seem to make a difference. I was originally using a screen protector, but removed it to see if that made any difference, but it didn't.
The Hermes is brand new - got it a few days ago, does anyone have any idea if it's a hardware problem, or is this a known problem? I've searched these forums, but not found anyone else sharing my problem.

This is a rare, but known hardware problem. I have heard from six or seven people so far who experienced it, me included.
None of the tricks to solve the far more widespread "screen alignment problem" work. Only solution is to exchange the device.
Cheers
Daniel
Thanks for your feedback Daniel - I've just contacted the seller to see if I can arrange a replacement. Though it's never the most welcome news that one has to replace one's device, I'm glad at least I know what caused the problem.
Again - thanks for your feedback!
Same Problem
I have the same problem. Since I got this brand new on eBay, I can't simply take it in for an exchange? Is there a fix for this? This is flat our annoying, and I'm about to swear off buying a PocketPC/Phone for good.
Can someone please help?
Hi Olesk,
I have the same problem and I'm on Dutty v2 ROM.
I never experience this problem before. This prob started after I start upgrading my ROM from WM5 to LVSW then to DUTTY.
My machine is Dopod838Pro.

Vibrate has lost its buzz

G'day all,
My HTC P3600 has been nothing but problematic since I purchased it August 2007. The screen has been replaced twice and I thought everything was on track.
NOW I have noticed that the vibrate function no longer works at all. Not for phone calls, sms alarms, nada!
The people who have been repairing the last couple of times have had the phone for 3 weeks and now tell me it's something to do with software/firmware specific to the vibrator hardware.
Has anyone heard of such a thing, or could possibly explain to me?
I am running bepe 0.79 OS: 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0) but it also doesn't work with the factory release OS from HTC
Regards,
WangChung
sounds like it broke from the inside. i don't see how a vibrate function not working could be a software problem. especially with two roms.
what kind of screen problems have you had btw?
Thanks for your response viperx,
I agree with you that it sounds unlikely to be software related for the the vibrate not to work. Personally I think the mob repairing this device for the 3rd time have absolutely no idea what they are doing and are just trying to bull$h!t me and stall for time
As for my screen issues previous to this. The "Start Menu" activation of death I guess you could say. The ubiquitous On of Off of the Start Menu finally resulting in no screen response at all.
The entire screen was replaced the first time, then they told me on the second occasion that it was only one component or layer of the screen that required replacing on the second failure. Personally I've never been comfortable withthe people repairing the device, but when you buy it overseas and have no local warranty, little you can do I guess.
WC
I've had the start menu problem, not bad though. i'm hoping it won't give in. might be becoming more frequent though.
good luck with the repair shop then

I agree with viperx, I flashed my device with many different rom, official and cooked, and never had problems with hardware components I think that the people who have been repairing your device last time, forgot to plug some connector ( of they'r brain ) hope they hadn't broke anything...
Good luck
Sorry for my english
