Hi. The instructions say that you can turn the phone on and off by holding down the red phone button. This doesn't work on my xda II. Does anyone know why? Could it be something I've installed?
Thanks.
i think you have to hold the button down for a bit and then press once more there were a thread about this not that long agoe
Rudegar, I try what you explain, but it doesn't work on my Qtek 2020 too. And friends from a french forum (PDA France) with the same Qtek as me have the same problem. Do you remember where is the thread about that pb ?
well it works on xda1 and the guy in the last post claim that it's the same for xda2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=4979
Thanks Rudegar. It's written in the Qtek 2020 user's Guide too that pressing and holding the red button should toggle the phone on/off, but it doesn't work. The only way is to select the "flight mode". That means : ejecting the stylus, making 2 clicks and put the stylus in his hole again. Not very intuitive. If you have an idea on how to activate this function, it would be nice ...
Turning the phone off
Pressing the red button with picture turn the "GPRS" off it it is on not the phone.
Toturn the phone off use the stylus and tap on the signal strength connectivity indicator on the top of on the display screen. You will then get a message " turn wireless off " in blue and if you tap this you will turn the phone off. You may need to use your PIN code to turn it on again ....... - So don't forget you PIN code!!!!!
To turn it on again ........tap the same indicator again and you and turn on the phone.
Good Luck!!

I know that Rafiki ! Maybe my english is not good enough and you didn't understand me.
What I want is only to be able use the red button to switch the phone on and off, as it is described in the user manual !
McDoPDA : My manual says that the red button is to end phone call or turn GPRS Off.
Most unhandy and I also find it a pain to switch the phone Off & On quickly !
Hopefully "they" will have fix for this in the future!

so, let's hope "they" will do it as quick as possible ! And that it works on a french Qtek 2020 too... not only on an english XDAII !
Hi guys,
This problem was introduced with the 1.60ROM. Before with the old ROM, I could turn my MDA II off using the red button. After the ROM upgrade it turns the GPRS off. Too bad they didn't make that a user choice.
Wouter
On my french Qtek 2020, I had the problem with the 1.52 ROM. When I upgraded to the 1.58, I still had the problem. There is no 1.60 french ROM availiable for the moment...

as you might have noticed, the device does not respond to screen tap/button push while backlight is turned off, the first action turns the backlight on and you have to repeat it to make the device do what you want...
Is there any way to let it respond to each action while backlight ist turned off?
Many thanks and sorry for my english

Honestly I'm deeply grateful for this option!!!
I can always turn on/off the light with powerbutton.
Often I want to put the back light on WITHOUT any change on the screen (like reading ebook when screen-press makes page change). So I just love it how it is.
The problem is that it isnt an option
Actually i do not have a problem with it, i ask here fore smb who has a program, where keeping backlight on doesnt work properly so this option make some problems,
i would love this on fs loox 560, but since xperia cant turn the backlight completely off and i can see everything without turning backlight on and i just dont need it anymore
Thank you two for your replies
Actually you can touch your camera button first to bring the backlight back/prevent backlight fade, then click what you want to do
Hm... It doen't bother me at all. I even like it.
Hi All,
There is bound to be a thread about this somewhere, but I cant find anything:
When you get a incoming call, you screen automatically activates. How do you change that?

then how would he get the call to start with. Does not sound like he wants to turn the phone off, just prevent the screen from coming on at times when a call comes in.
I thought it turns itself off by default whenever ur get a call !?
or maybe he wants to keep it in sleep mode while ringing.. didnt think that would be useful oneday..
try this
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone\Sleep switch the value 0 or 1
Another thing
PhoneAlarm offers this option, and a lot of other useful functions....
Well, I want my phone to ring and/or vibrate when a call comes in. But i dont want the screen to activate, becouse I often "pick up" accidently. So, I want the phone to ring, wait for me to push the power butten, and then I can answer the call if I choose to.

yeah yeah .. see above and try PhoneAlarm. Hope it helps
Anyone has this problem? I find sometimes my Leo automatically switches off. Quite a perplexing predicament.
Like, turns off completely, so you have to press the power button to reboot it?
Or the screen goes off, and you need to turn it on and unlock the screen?
If it's the first one, is your battery running out of charge?
If it's the second one, that's normal.
It's the first, and no its not because the battery is low
Happens to me sometimes. Some people call it the sleep of death
What rom version you on?

Had that either. Didn´t do it for a long time now and I think it was because of the leather case. I always pushed in the hd2 with the buttons on the bottom and I think they were pressed for a long time. Maybe they shut down the phone when they are pressed too long ??? I now slip in the phone with the buttons to the open side and since then it didn´t shut down by itself.
Sorry. Hope my german english doesn´t sound too silly :-D

Yes that is what I suspected too. I was onthe official 1.48 ROM btw. now i flashed the new Cleanex ROM v4. so far so good. we'll see
mine has gone into such a deep sleep I've had to remove the battery to reboot. interestingly, the incoming caller had a dial tone. and I didn't get a missed call notification. running stock 1.66 Rom.
I found this page: http://www.techit.in/turn-off-htc-desires-the-hard-key-lights/ which talks about how to turn off the hardkey lights on a Desire. I was wondering if this could be modified to keep the hardkey lights lit on a HD2 running Hyperdroid 1.6. I tried a couple things and havent had any luck. I was able to turn them off completely, but that was by accident. I am in no way a programmer and would appreciate any help I could get.
I want to know that too but i have not found any solution for this problem, in the new bangster build the hardwarekeys are OK so it must be possible to fix this on hyperdorid or the androidmedabuild 1.2 i think ???
Hello, can someone help or shed some light please?

Are you saying in bangsters build the lights for call, home, windows, back, and send stay on as long as the LCD backlight? Is this correct?
In the Bangster Build the keylight is on when power on the HD2... after 10 seconds the light shut off but when i press a hardware key the light powers on... thats perfect....

That would be a step in the right direction for me, but i dont want them to turn off until the backlight turns off.
Thats OK too but the bangster thing is a energy safer i think ?!
