How to reboot my MDA? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Everywhere on this forum they talk about rebooting but never how they do it.
I got my MDA from a friend without any documentation.
Can I just press reset?
At first I didn't want to post this silly question but I endlessly tried to find it on this forum.
One thinks he posts a better and more understandable tutorial then one another but they all forget to mention the simpliest things.
Waiting for your help.
Thank you.

that's because it's xda-developers not xda-noobs or xda-users. Why don't you head over to modaco or coolsmartphone if you require instruction on how to turn your phone off, then on again.
...not meaning to sound harsh btw but that's reboot; just reset... you can also poke the stylus in the small hole at the side.

or hold the power button on top of the phone...klik yes...then press the power button again to turn it back on...or take out the battery...lol he said xda-noobs lol

killed my orbit 2 - volume screen on startup window

Hi,
I've managed to kill my Orbit 2! Everytime it starts up it gets as far as the Windows Mobile splash screen then shows the volumn control (both levels turned down) but goes no further. The power button still turns the screen on and off and the screen still dims after a while with any key bringing it back to full brightness, but nothing happens!
Has anyone else had this problem?
Also, I've looked in the forums, but can't find details anywhere of how to hard reset this phone! The only instructions I've found relate to non-existent buttons!
http://www.hardreset.eu/htc_touch_cruise_polaris_hard_reset_soft_reset.html
Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening or how to hard reset!
Thanks in advance,
Nick
it is the bottom two buttons (below the answer & hang up) and the stylus for a soft reset.
When it asks for a confirmation hit the green answer button
Hope this helps
Thanks NC35 - that did the trick!
Luckily I backed it up on Sunday so shouldn't have lost too much!
Thanks
Having tried ( now three times with no help ever) to speak to O2 and ask how to hard reset following the start menu completely failing..... I was told it was "impossible" you will need to return it and use the "28 day" repair service.....
I have at last managed to restore - thanks to this posting!!
No comes the reseting process - which is a bit of a bore!!
O2 seem to have dispensed with any actual tech support at all!!
Dave
The procedure of performing hard reset is perfectly explained in the manual that comes with the phone. "hard reset" is included in the index of this manual, so it takes only a couple of minutes to find out what you have to do.
After all, RTFM ;-)

I have downloaded the hard-spl. I'm completely stuck. I can't connect my pda to activesync. activesync didn't detect my pda. by the way, when I reset the pda, screen that asked to press SEND for restore to factory setting turn up few minutes after resetting. press green button, screen automatically shows windows mobile startup screen. I'm still stress, |I'm sorry but I can't helped it..
sorry guys. I have read the instruction wrongly. now it works fine.
many thanks cr1960 who has kindly response to my silly worries

How to figure out what IPL I have?

hi folks
I spend the last 5 ours on reading FAQs, threads and hints on this site. Thank you for these information so far. But there is still a question, that isnt answered on this page, or - and I think this is the point - I didnt understand it so the question is, who could I figure out, what IPL-version my phone uses?
I read the FAQs, because I want to flash the TouchIT to my phone. But as I would be careful, cause I dont want to brick my phone, I read the warnings that you could only hardSPL if your IPL is higher than version 4. OK, but how could I figure out what version I have?
Please be patient, if I missed this answer in the FAQs
z
you need to put your phone into bootloader mode.
1) hold camera button
2) reset with stylis (still holding camera button)
3) phone will go into a 3 colour screen listing your IPL, SPL etc.
note - some posters say hold both camera and comm manager button but mine works with just camera
hope this helps
RAT
good to see "junior" helping junior. keep on
every bit helps
haha, yeah. in fact this was exactly what I was looking for. after reading this hint, I realized, that I read it a few times before, but never realized the meaning ^^
u don't actually have to hold the camera button down before or at the same time
just soft reset then press and hold the camera button before the ipl is read.. same with hard resetting
but anyways!!.......

OK Button Dead

Hi,
I am trying to flash a ROM on a friend's Hermes, but it is a bit knackered. His OK button on the side near the jog-dial has died.
For some reason it won't flash without putting it into Bootmode first (I had to do this method on my phone which is exactly the same, but in better condition).
Is there any way to get it into Bootmode without pressing the power and OK buttons whilst soft-resetting?
Google came up with nothing and neither did forum search.
My power button is toast, so I'm in the same boat, no paddle.
While my power button was dying, it was stuck in the depressed state, and any soft reset attempt would put it into boot loader mode. So maybe no OK button is OK. Not sure if I had compounded issues whose interactions were confounding my results or what.
Any way to remap the power button or the OK button? No answers in the HTC or XDA wiki and forums.
This might be a case of the blind leading the blind here, but I doubt that'd work.
I don't think it's in the software mapping on the button, but in the hardware. Short of opening it up I doubt you could remap it.
Again, I could be wrong.
I was thinking something more software based. Nearly every ROM I've seen puts it into Bootloader before flashing it. Wonder if there's any way to stop it just there.

Hey, as long as you tried it out, I think that's all you can expect.
If you can't use the sd card method, why not use the usb method (now this is a role reversal ).
I'm a great advocate of the sd card method but if its impossible then the only way to go is the usb method via activesync.
Cheers...
As for , if you want to open your Hermes, theres a Great guide on Mike Channon's site. Its the "HTC Service Manual". It tells you how to open your Hermes, take it apart & put it back together again. Do a search on the forum for "Hermes HTC Service Manual" and you should find it. It fairly easy to disassemble
and pretty robust. you do need a small flatblade screwdriver, a small philips head and a No.6 torque key.
It will also void warranty.
Cheers...
Mike's site was valuable as it lead me to another site's step-by-step to open my Hermes and un-stick the power button. I wouldn't mind remapping the power button for each ROM I flash...but my flashing days are over as I'm happy now with something as simple as a stable ROM. sigh

Phone wont boot [Goes directly into HBoot]

I woke up this morning and my phone will not boot. It automatically boots into the bootloader (hboot) and the up/down (volume keys) wont move the cursor to allow me to get to the recovery option. Also if I try to boot into recovery using the hard button combo it vibrates 3 times and the led turns to green, then it just sits/never gets to recovery. Since hboot is looking for the PDimg file I figure I could use this file to revert to stock but I was hoping someone here might have a better answer.
If not can someone let me know how to go about flashing with a PD15img file and where I can find a copy?
Thanks guys
Sounds like your volume button is stuck
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
Nope because it knows when I'm using them to try to go straight to recovery also the power button cannot be used to select either but it works to turn the phone one. They just stop working in hboot.
A constantly pressed button will of course also react when you're trying to boot directly to recovery. The phone doesn't "know" anything.
Another option is a stuck trackpad.
If all else fails you might try to reflash recovery and or Hboot, it never hurts to try from a clean install.

I think you guys are misunderstanding the point. This has nothing to do with the buttons. My issue is when I turn my phone on (by hitting the power button once) the phone will only boot into hboot. Once in hboot none of the keys (power or volume) work. If I try to boot directly into recovery by holding vol up/down + power; the phone will viberate 3 times and the LED lights up green. It then just sits on a blacklit black screen and does nothing else.
I am looking for eirther; Anyone that has ever had this issue and may be able to shed some light onto why it happened. Which by the way was completly random, I shut the phone off before going to sleep and woke up too it viberating like crazy then when I tried to turn it back on; this is what happened.
Or the answer to this question; How do I install a rom from hboot? Can I just install any rom as a "update" by using the method of naming it PD15IMG? Since it does search for this file when I have a sd card in at boot. But if my memory serves me correct it will ask; "Would you like to install this update?" and if my hard buttons do not work and I cannot click yes than what else can I do?
Thanks for all the help guys!!!!

And I think you can't read. You've been told in 3 posts that the phone boots directly to HBOOT because EITHER A VOLUME DOWN BUTTON OR A TRACKPAD BUTTON IS STUCK, ON ELECTRICAL LEVEL - THE CONTACTS ARE ALWAYS CLOSED. And THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT ON SOFTWARE/FLASHING LEVEL. You need to fix what's broken, and you've been told what's broken. Patience isn't one of my skills. Good luck from here.

I do thank you for your help but you may want to aquire some patience if you plan to continue helping people... since people in need of help are most likely confused.
Thanks though :highfive:
Im my experience Jack_R1's answers are always right and are the answer to your question. If you think otherwise one of two things is happening.
1) You did not explain your problem thoroughly.
2) You need to examine his post(s) more closely.
He has zero tolerance for stupidity or ignorance due to laziness (i.e. not searching). I'm not trying to speak for him or defend him or anything else. He's grown and quite capable of handling all that. The man just knows the answer and gets to the damn point.
I wish we had more people around here like him.

LG G2 D802 - Power Button Problem

Hey everyone,
First of all thank you for taking a look in my thread, this is my second post here in this forum but, I just have to tell you guys, I've been around since 2012 and you guys rock!
Anyway enough of chit chat, so I had my phone pretty much hard bricked, thanks to some tutorials I've finally found a way to get it back to life BUT ( there's always a but ), it isn't like before, everything was working very nicely after the fix, the Power button stopped working, the volume rockers are still fully functional but the power button isn't. So I thought "f*ck this, I gotta buy a new flex assembly", that's what I did, it arrived today, so I got to work and put it all together with the new button, but for my surprise it is EXACTLY de same as before, so it seems like it has nothing to do with the flex assembly/buttons itself but something more like motherboard or something..
Have any one of you guys had this issue? By the way another very interesting thing is that the buttton "still gives signal" since if I press on it, it doesn't do anything even with the phone off BUT, if I have the phone turned on, and I press it for 5+ seconds , it shutdowns the phone as it should! So why isn't it working when I do a press, but if I hold it works?
By the way my phone when died even the partition table got corrupted, so I even had to redo that could it have anything to do with it?
Oh and the basic tips of putting the phone in Download Mode and fully revert to stock didn't work, already did it many times since I brought it back to like..
Regards, and thank you for reading this LONG post and spending your time with me :silly:

Hi, i has been a long time until you wrote this topic, but now, in 2018, i got the same problem that you.
I bricked the phone, unbricked with some xda's tutorials, install a kdz image and system got ok, but the damn power button not work.
It work on a very specific moment that is when the phone is on and i press the button, after 5 seconds the phone turn off, but none menu appears, it just turn off. Besides, it won't work to turn on the device. In this case, i aways need to put the cable and when the LG log appears I must remove (if not, the battery symbol is shown, and the device not turn on).
I wonder if you were able to fix your phone or someone of xda had this problem.
Thanks
Nope never got it fixed just moved on and bought another device, besides that is now a outdated device..
