Hi guys,
I've run into a really weird problem with my magician.
Today I was in the middle of a call when I plugged the USB cable into the phone. Probably with too many programs running at the same time, as I plugged the cable in the phone hang. So I restarted the phone.
As soon as I restarted the phone, a whole bunch of reminders from last year popped up ... took a while to dimiss them all. Afterwards I noticed the clock has been running fast.
By clock, I'm not talking about the CPU clock, but the actual clock on the phone. It runs ~ 28% faster, so every hour I am like 18 min fast.
I tried resetting the device several time and it didn't fix the problem. The only program I've recently installed is Webis Mail ... but I don't think a mail program would screwup the clock.
Has anybody run into a similar problem? I hope it's SW related and not HW related.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
Anyone?
If I can't fix this clock problem, then I pretty much have to replace my phone. Having an inaccurate clock is ok for a regular phone, but for a PDA phone if my clock is 15 min too fast every hour, then it's pretty useless.
As a workaround, is there anyway I can get the time from my service provider? The standard imate ROM doesn't seem to support that option.
Any help is appreciated!
Have you tried a Hard reset, had this a few months ago and this was the only way to stop it.
Thanks! Yes hard reset and it did the trick. Still not sure what it was, maybe some of the registries got corrupted, but after the hard reset the clock's normal again. I restored a recent backup on to the phone and now it's working fine.

Apologies if anyone has posted about this already. My XDA IIi has developed an interesting characteristic; it skips a second every now and then, resulting in it gaining about 2 seconds every 10! Does anyone know what is causing this?? is it a virus or buggy software??
regards
Chris Norman
The only way to check that is to run the phone without any additional software, if it still displays these problems then its a hardware issue.
Hi Cruncheeee,
Did you fix this problem? I've just got exactly the same thing. Everything is fine apart from the clock gaining rapidly. As you say every few seconds it jumps 2 seconds.
Cheers,
Mark

me too, just discover this problem.............**** !
Hope someone come up a solution..............Thanks in advance !
Has anyone hard reset to rectify this problem ?
I don't know how to fix the problem as such, but i noticed my XdaIIi slipped out of time every so often, so i got a free little program called SP TimeSync 2.2 that updates my time from one of the atomic clocks.
If your sat watching the clock, in the settings thing, sometimes the clock hangs, then skips to the time, making it appear that it has skipped time, where as it actually just stopped updating the screen for a second or two!
XDA Clock gaining
Hi, I never fixed it as such - just hard reset the device which stopped it. However, afterwards I wondered if it could have been caused by PocketZenPhone (I remembered I'd changed some PZP settings just prior to the problem). May be worth un-installing PZP (assuming you use it).
Cheers.
Update:
I tried the work arounds (SP TimeSync etc) and I got quite good at finding websites with the time on but eventually I gave up.
I never found out what was causing the error, but a new ROM release from O2 gave the push I needed to do a hard reset, load a new ROM and rebuld my XDA IIi
It was first major update and I haven't mastered all the things to backup, I kept my contacts and appointments OK through ActiveSync but lost almost everything else so I'm now adding back the apps I'd grown used to deleting the O2 junk they supply but.....
the clock is now telling the right time again!

Hi all
I have been experiensed a lot of freezes lately wich renders my wizard completely unresponsive. I usually takeout the battery or reset with a pen or something.
Also more an more the alarm doesnt go off. This used to work fine. Like this morning, I wake up (late) and grabb my phone, is shows time 0630 althou its like 0700. When I tap the screen it changes to the correct time and all the alarms go off (i have several alarms, due to a serious snoozing problem).
I have WA2 and WAD on it and alot of other nice apps.
Tips hints or comments anyone?
Maybee its just time to clear it completly to get rid of all the junk i installed but I really dont want to.

Alarm Problem:
I too use the phone to wake me up in the morning.I had this exact problem with the stocc ROM and some installed apps. Once I upgraded the ROM I haven't had the problem.
Freezing Problem:
At times it seem like I'll get this problem especially when I hit the bed for the nite. Not sure why but for me I've link the problem to ActiveSync. For some reason that is the only thing on my phone that kills the ram and makes it freeze. Even if you shut it down it will start up again. I haven't had this problem lately since I upgraded teh rom and I perform a soft-reset about every 3-5days. What I did to make sure everything would be ok would be soft-reset of the device before going to sleep.
Guys
I am facing a really weird problem which is becoming increasingly frustrating and driving me nuts.
I usually charge my phone overnite using the stock charger. The phone powers off after a while as per the the settings (15 mins I think) and stays like that throughout the night. But in the morning it fails to wake up totally. Nothin works. So, I am forced to soft reset it everytime this happens. This has happened quite a few times now.
Any ideas why this might be happening? This is killing me because the alarms dont sound and the phone is totally dead in the morning.
ps. I am using the stock HTC ROM (1.18, 07/22), on Cingular UMTS.
Thanks in advance.
JoKer
Dude, I'm getting the EXACT same thing!!!! I'm using using the stock TyTN ROM! I have no idea what's causing it, or even how to fix it. I thought it had something to do with software, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I need help too!!!!
) .. that's crazy .. maybe this is the next SA ... jk ..
but seriously ... maybe there are more folks with this prob ... let's see if anyone knows any more details about this or how to fix it ..
And the really strangest thing is that this doesnt happen to me in the day .. it powers off and wakes up fine .. but then it's never powered off for that long ..
Mine seems to happen when it's powered off for a given amount of time. It's insanely annoying because I have to reboot, and I hate rebooting the phone.
I've experienced a lot less of this behavior since moving to the 1.20 radio ROM...
I'm at the 1.20 radio, and I'm still having the problem.
I too am having exactly this problem. I have flashed the Cingular 1.34 ROM but it seems that the ROM doesn't matter. (I notice the bluetooth and or wifi lights are still on, the screen just doesnt come back to life).
Hi, you probably already tested this, but your device goes into standby mode with WiFi on it will become locked and unable to power on.
But it has happenned to me this sympton without WiFi connected.
Cheers
check out this search...there are a few topics on this already

Well I used to think there was some truth to the freezing being related to certain apps... and I suspected on mine it was PhoneAlarm causing problems.
Last week I hard reset and re-installed everything except PhoneAlarm but am having freezing if my TyTN is not used for some time (does not have to charge to freeze!)... And yes, I do kill ActiveSync and WiFi when I know I will not be using my phone for a while. My conclusion is that there's more to this and that maybe a newer ROM from HTC will address this - anyone know what the status is on this??
BTW, anybody else having alarms going off constantly on re-boot or MS VC reading out ca. 2 weeks of appointments on soft re-boot?
I still don't think there is a definitive answer on this. I've heard quite a few things to fix it; but I don't really have any of the software that's mentioned. Someone said it was because I had Opera installed (so I uninstalled it), then someone said it was because of the ActiveSync Advanced Network Connection option (I unchecked that), last someone said it was because of SBSH PocketWeather, and to take that off the today screen. Well I'd rather not do the latter, so I'll test these two and see how it goes.
I think it's the today plug-in issue. I hard reset and left off PW and it didn't lock-up for 2 days. But like you, I like it a lot.
So I'll deal with resetting it.
For me, it's just Pocket Plus, Resco File Explorer and WA Lite on the Today screen along with the standard stuff .. really nothin that needs to connect to the connect to the internet .. and still ..
The one that caused the TyTn not to wakeup was Wisbar Advance. Since removing it, I've not had any issues with the pda not waking up from power off.
Ok, what are you using in its place?
Well after uninstalling Opera, and unchecking the check box; I had the problem again! ( So annoying (.
Well i'll post my problem too
I have missed class twice in a week because the phone alarm never rang in the morning. The phone was frozen and i had to reset it in both cases. I always leave it charginf over night and now i'm afraid to turn it off anymore for fear of never waking me up in the morning
Adi
guys,
I am suspecting the issue is related to the today's plugin. After a few days of experiments, I believe the battery level reading utilities such as SPB pockets plus or Resco today plugin might be the one we are looking for.
Not only uncheck it, but also un-install it, hopefully, would help to solve the problem.
Mark
I have no today's plugin, just the standard stuff, en i do have the same problem
Give the Fake Server Trick a try, which worked for similar symptoms on the old Axim x51v: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=112638
If your problems are caused by the same thing, then this is to do with Activesync launching itself automatically. This in turn causes windows mobile 5 to stop waking up from standby, requiring a soft reset. No idea why.
I did the FST straight away when I received my TyTN and I don't get any of the problems you describe at all. It's worth a go!
I have noticed a peculiar event with my 8125. When I recharge my phone, it freezes after reaching full charge. It doesn't happen all the time, but enough to be noticed. I have absolutely no idea why this would occur. This poses a certain problem in that I sometimes use the phone's alarm and I charge it while I sleep. Any thoughts as the source of the problem and the solution? Thanks.
Same Problem!
Glad I am not the only one......
Any cures for this woe?
What Alarm program are you using?
Hello Curious D,
What Alarm program are you using? Since I am having that same problem some one else suggested that it may a problem with that program. I am using:
Green Software's "Alarm Clock"
The alarm is a freeware version called AlarmClock v0.04. It works fine actually and the fault is not limited to when I have the alarm running. Actually, I don't have this alarm running now because I can't rely on it and the problem still persists.
My alarm clock info
Hello again,
My alarm clock program is AlarmClock v.04 as well. Perhaps there is at least correlation between the problem and the program. Though you say this happens even when the alarm is not set? Have you tried completely uninstalling the alarm clock from the wizard? Perhaps I will try this. The only problem is "The Problem" is only intermittent....What to do..???
I have been having problems with this unit freezing on an intermittent basis that appear to be random. It may be that I have noticing this freeze after fully charging only because it is an event that I can latch on the intermittent freezes on. I have to soft reset my phone at least twice a day. The most annoying thing is not realizing that my phone has frozen so I miss calls. I have been loathing the idea that I have to do a hard reset since reinstalling everything is such a pain. I installed SKTools in hopes that it might have solved my problem, but no such luck. (I have to probably do the same on my desktop and laptop since they have slowed down without any known viruses or trojans showing up on scans.) The hardest thing about reinstalling everything on this phone is how long do I wait for a possible freeze before I can install the next program. That process could take a couple weeks given the number of programs I have on this phone (about 35 plus some other required programs).
I am at the same point
Considering a hard reset, or possibly re-flashing the original rom. But as you have pointed out...doing this in such a manor as to track down offending software can take forever! I am really not sure what to do here. I really wish that we could get some more people who have had, and possibly solved, these problems to chime in. But it appears that most every one on this forum is more interested in the next greatest rom or CrossBow.......... Is there a forum that is more geared toward the actual everyday use of and problem solving of the Wizard? Maybe I am in the wrong place?
got a htc phone and my phone keeps freezeing i need to take the battery out then put it bk in to get my phone it keeps happening alot. took it to a shop and they say they reflashed but it didnt work any body got any ideas thanks
First of all, while the phone is working.. BACKUP all data.
Then try this...
Hardreset (I don't see any other solution).. then RESTORE data.
If the above post doesn't work, then maybe you should have that unit replaced while it's still under warranty (I assume)...
I also experienced the same a while ago. All of a sudden, after 2 weeks of using, it hung. The only thing I did was having it a day connected to the internet and loading 150 emails into the newly created account. I experienced a slower operating system, though, and the hanging of the Jade could be linked to this full inbox.
Btw. no additional software installed or tweaks. At that time, I only had NoData installed and TomTom.
For some reason, when the backlight went off, the wake up hard button on the Jade didn't function either, so I had to take out the battery every time to make a call. Rediculous...
The solution for me was indeed to hard reset. Soft resets or configuration chagnes didn't work. After the hard reset, no problems anymore...
