8525 Screen Yellowish Hue - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I just got my replacement 8525 cuz the previous one have non working keys on the keyboard and when i compare the screen brightness and hue of the new 8525 with my defective one, the new one seems to have a slightly darker screen and a yellowish hue on it which really annoys the hell out of me. Also my defective one did not have a upgraded rom the new one does.
I was wondering if there is a way to fix this problem

ur new one has a upgraded ROM? What ROM does it have?

rom version 2.15.502.3

oh ..thats the latest one available...I got excited for a minute, thought maybe it had the WM6 update.

Yellow screen on 8525.

Well I got a "refurb" 8525 from ATT and it was sweet. Until the screen stopped responding to touch. So I had ATT send me another(at my charge first). Well the second one arrived quite quickly but it has the obvious yellow(pee'd on) looking screen. Next to my other 8525 the difference it very obvious. To me anyway. My broke 8525 has white whites. Whereas my replacement one has a yellowish white. I'm kind of miffed about it. I think I'm going to call and have them replace it one more time and see what happens. If I get another yellowish screen I guess I'll have to deal with it. Also I notice the speaker on the replacement is "louder" but more "muffled". Strange. I used the same Black rom on both units so there shouldn't have been any differences software wise.
Anyone else experience this? I'm thinking that maybe my replacement had a cracked screen and they replaced the screen with a lesser quality one...?

One Vibrant brighter than the other

i have two vibrants that i just bought recently, one of them is mine one of them is my gfs, ive used mine for about a month now, hers we just started using today and we put both phones side by side and on hers the screen doesnt seem as bright, and like menus have like some brown color to them or just not as dark, on mine they are black like solid black, mine received an update idk if thats it?
any help is appreciated
You can try to exchange her phone as I don't think it has anything to do with a software update most likely it's hardware. I bought an iPhone for myself and then after 2 days bought another iPhone for my wife and mine was far less bright and also had a yellowish tinge on the screen while hers was very bright and had a cool blue tinge. Best thing would be for your gf to exchange her phone while she can.
identical settings? (no auto adjust)
screen protector?
different roms?
i have also noticed this. In my situation, i called in and replaced my old vibrant because i complained about a lag so they sent me a new one which was cover under warranty! when i received the new one I quickly put in my spare batteries in it and turned it on. First thing i noticed was the color of the screens. my old vibrant had more of a tan/brown hue when compared to the new one. The new one had more of a blueish hue to the screen. i tried fixing the brightness but that didn't fix it. so i had to decided to go with the old brown one or new blue one. of course i chose the new blue one but i was concerned that i would have an off color screen. a couple of weeks after shipping the old one back i discovered that when you open the video player and start playing any video..press the menu button, then press settings, then color tone! dont know if this setting carries onto the rest of the phone...hope this helps!

New phone, weird screen

Hey guys,
I just received a replacement phone from Bell, so now I happen to have two Galaxy S running in front of me. My old phone, for some random reason doesn't have the same colors as my new one.
The old phone, displays white really nicely, whereas the new one, it's more "beige-ish"... Overall the screen colors of the new phone are "warmer" and the old one has more realistic colors. Darker blacks and whites that are really bright.
I don't get it... Is the new phone defective?! Does it need break-in?
Thanks
Same Problem
Dude I got my old bricked phone replaced around a week ago and this new one's screen, like you said, has beige-ish or yellowish coloring whenever I put the brightness down below 20%. My old one was perfect, it showed the whites perfectly. What are you planning on doing? I think im going to take it in to the store. Did you find out the reason for it or take it in yourself to the store?
You guys should post the manufacture dates for your old and new phones. I got a new 9000M after my internal SD died but I never had both phones at the same time. As far as I can tell my new phone's display is just as good (maybe slightly better) than the old one. They were both 10.08 dates.
From what I have heard, a new AMOLED should be slightly blueish because the blue sub-pixels get weaker before the others.
My old one is 10.08 and the new one is 10.11. Old one's screen was perfect..but i dont know whats wrong with this one..its just yellow when the brightness setting is low..
Same here, bought my mother's captivate(not from replacement) and its screen seemed yellowish and darker than mine. However touch button backlight is much brighter than mine.

Any solution for this???
Sorry I have to say this, but it is absolutely normal. Had 2 sgs back in june. One ABSOLUTELY white and great screen (but also a dead pixel)and the other more as described here. Also the warm color is best be seen in an angel of normal use. Annoying, but you get used to it.

So Crypta, will this be looked upon as a defect. Could I possibly take it back to Bell store for a replacement. I cannot get used to this..its pretty bad, the yellow coloring i mean.
I think the speedmod kernel has colour adjustments made. Check it out in the Dev forum

Kewjoe, could you plz tell me the step by step process of getting my phone to your phone's level. I mean Darky's rom..speed mod etc. Our phones (bell i9000) are extremely fragile and you know that. I wanted to get darky's on it but i dint want to brick it. Also, if i do mod darky's but somehow or another my phone needs repair and I need to take it back to bell, would I be able to bring my phone back to bone stock (bell jl2) conditon? If yes, how is it done? Thank you
Can't say if it is rated as flaw. Kept mine, as it is only a great difference in comparison. Saw 4 sgs screens - all different from blueish to pretty warm. There seem to be a great variation within production range.

This is normal in the process of screen, that does not come from the same production line.
Took mine in to bell store couple of days back and they shipped it for repair/replacement. They compared my screen to the phone on display in store and even they said mine was really washed out. I also had a loose battery problem so they mentioned that on the repair sheet as well. Hopefully I get it(or a replacement) back soon. They said 10 days..I'll let you know once I get it back.
is it still SAMOLED, does it still have DEEP Blacks? maybe they changed it to SLCD? i hope not!
Yea its still S-Amoled but it was just yellowy so I had to take it back. I dont think they would change it to slcd..lets see.
Chk this out, I think it could be software problem but I flashed many roms and it hasn't seemed to bring it back to normal so I sent it in.

Have you tried to Galaxy Tuner? It's available in the market, you can change the color settings with it.
I Swyped this on my Galaxy S
Different manufacturing batches ==>Different products. It may happen. But if there is too much difference in colors as you said it is a manufacturing defect.

New official screen looks darker

Hello
I had my Galaxy S screen replaced 2 days ago (the new screen is a new one replaced by the Samsung centre)
However I am using CM9 with Semaphore kernel and it looks so dark, like if the colors weren't right.
Any ideas? Playing with the color settings don't have much effect..
Thanks
Did they replaced it with another Amoled screen, or with the Super LCD one? That might be the difference.
Hello
Well, it should be an Amoled, it's a GTI9000
As far as I know, the LCD screen is for I9003, isn't it?
Thanks
Maybe you have voodoo color throwing you off?

Can you take a picture of it? On the settings menu perhaps...
I have galaxy s and s plus, the s plus is brighter than s... sorry for my bad inglish

How can I find if there's voodoo mod?
I haven't found anything like that in the phone.
Do you know what I can do with it?
I really don't understand why this screen looks darker

What about stock rom? Same thing?
Hello
I've just flashed the stock rom yesterday and compared it with a friend who has the same ROM, well, not the same exactly, mine is 2.3.3 and his is 2.3.6
My phone seems to get better when the screen gets brighter, but when is dark, white isn't white, it looks a bit like yellow. So I guess it's the screen or the screen protector I put on it.
However, I really doubt warranty will exchange this new screen since they might not consider it a failure, but it looks extremely ugly..
Thank you.

Screen brightness levels old vs new

I got my RMA device today, and the image retention problem I had isn't as bad on this device. However I have noticed a considerable difference in the brightness of this device compared to the old one. The old one has a much brighter screen, and the yellow on the left is much worse on the new device. With my old Nexus 4 the yellow got better over time, so I think that might be the case with this one too, however will the screen get brighter over time? I doubt it. Has anyone else noticed a darker screen on the newer devices? My old nexus 4 was a 301K and rev_10. The new one I got today is a 303K and rev_11.
So has anyone noticed a difference?
