Hi, is there anyway we could change the incoming call display on hermes(mine is Tytn) ?
I wanna see a bigger caller's pic or like on my previous phone, I could use gif(animation) as the pictures ID. So when that person calls me I could see he's like waiving at me (animated).

That would be pretty cool, my p900 had a massive caller display, my MDA Vario and MDA Vario 2 were a disappointment in comparison
try photo contacts pro. It allows fullscreen caller id pics
Thanks for the hint, but would it be able to display gif/png or animated file?

If you are talking about Photo Caller ID, then it is not working at all for any body  ...
@ArcticCat:
You have to do a soft reset after assigning the picture to a person. That worked for me.
Photo Caller ID
yes i am talking about Photo Caller ID and it is not working in anyway
Does anyone have any idea how to send DTMF (touch tones) signals while on a call. For example if I call a calling card company, and then when it asks for the number, I can look it up in the address book and make the phone dial it while I'm on the call?
This is a pretty standard function on most normal phones, but I can't seem to figure out if this is available on WM5 Pocket PC.
Any ideas or alternate programs that do this would be appreciated.
Not sure if it's same same on all Wizard phone apps, but on my T-Mobile Vario, while you are in a call, the left menu-button says "Keypad" and it togles displaying the keypad so you can send tones.
Andre
I was trying to call a mate in oz using mine last night .
I also couldnt find the send DTMF menu, my old htc magician had it .
it is quite annoying keying in 20 or so digits each time .
Im using the Imate push email rom .

Yes, you can send tones that way, but you can't send tones from your address book which is what I'm trying to do.
dial DTMF
This may be what you are looking for.

Is there a way to assign a photo to an incoming call that is either withheld, unknown or found in phone book as done with the IA contact dialer provided with the XDA IIs?
Thanks
Look in your contacts, second line when editing or making new contact. A bit further you can select ringtone. Works much better than IA dialer.

I think what Hennyb means a common photo or picture can be assign for those not in the contact list like what Caller ID used in XDA IIs.

That is correct. I am using Photo Contact Pro now which lets me change the No_Photo.gif and caller_ID.Gif in the program directory, to a picture of my choosing so all incoming calls without a photo assigned display this picture. Also, an incoming call, displays the name in a larger font so I can read it without glasses.
Honestly still prefer IA Photo Contacts that came with the XDA IIs.
On my Nokia N95 it would say the name of the person calling me. Can you do this on the X1 ?
do you mean like displaying the name of the person, even if their not saved in your contact list? like how the caller id does on a home phone?

No, the phone would speak out the name of the person calling. So if Joe Blogs called my on my N95 I would hear 'ring, ring, Joe Blogs, ring ring, Joe Blogs...........'
well...back on my blackjack II, i remember when i upgraded from wm 6.0 to 6.1, there was a new program up there called "Voice Command" that allowed you to do this. So I'm guessing it'd still work on the X1 since its an official microsoft program. So just try googling "Windows Voice Command"
Yes, get "Microsoft Voice Commad" and check the settings. By default it should be set to bluetooth only, but you can change it so it reads the name even without the bluetooth. I like it a lot with bluetooth, cause you can set it to also read your text to you
Yeah, but I can't find an answer if the BT on the X1a and MSVC has the same issue as on the Touch Pro, where if you have it say the name of the incoming caller, it won't. You get a corruption sound. Normally that a bell sound. So normally you get "<your ringtone> and in the background of the ringtone, you hear "you got a call from 888-8888"" Or instead of the phone#, you hear the name if its in your address book.
When its broken, you hear your ringtone and in the background a small beep"
here is the link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/about-voice-command.mspx
give it a try and let us know.
even i like that feature on nokia phones
My Voice Command doesn't work properly on incoming calls either. It doesn't say the name of the caller, or even the telephone number. I have seen it work perfectly on an Omnia. Odd that it doesn't work on the X1!

i am in fact looking for this?
my previous phone use to display name of the callers, even if they werent stored in my contacts
how can i get this to work on my x1?
much apperciated
You need MS Voice Command or something similar for X1 to talk.
The current version of MS Voice Command combined with the current WM6.1 build does not announce Caller ID even though the feature is there. Reasons...I don't know. All of the other voice funtionality works great though, including reading of SMS and MMS messages among other things.
caller anouncement doesnt work on the x1 and i dont think anyones has come up with a solution to it yet.
Same
It attenuates my rintone every so often as if it's going to say the name but it never does.
Certain versions of WM don't support caller announcement. I think it is explained on the MS website for Voice Command.
Hi all,
anybody out there can share how to show animated caller id on Diamond when you receive incoming or making outgoing calls?
yep i`m looking for the same thing..
Bump ..... That would be cool
Sony ericsson allows such thing. look into their non wm mobile phones.lol.
gundem, that`s where that idea came from-se
so... did actually come across such application?
