Hi folks,
I've just bought the latest version of Coreplayer (1.1.0) after seeing that it supported ATi chips now. But, the playback of WMV files is still slow? ANyone got any ideas? I've tried playing from Storage cards (133 speed) and the Microdrive and no difference.
Im with you just purchased it, and no difference in speed. I bought the one for pda's did you get the one for smartphones. just curious
On my X7500 Coreplayer only works fine in raw framebuffer mode (tools\options\video)

Hi!
Could you please post your transferrates of the Universal with wifi?
Thanks!
i was copying to it from wifi with 50kb/s
to the storage card using a ftp client on the pocket pc
50 kb/s? I cant believe, its even to slow for streaming mp3 (128 kb is minimum)...
or do you mean kB (Kilo Bytes)
I thought i could stream movies to the Universal...
It is 50KBytes... (for mp3 streaming you need 13KBytes).
thanks, but that means its 2 slow for movies...
i can stream 640x480 divx films across wifi using betaplayer(tcpmp) without much of a problem but i do get pauses every now and again, but films encoded at 320x240 play with less frequent pauses and therefore very watchable
I using BlueAngel with WM5 and when I tried to transfer file through WiFi i get around 80kbps minimum, sometimes it reached up to 95+ kbps.

thanks 4 the info - i really dont like to reencode the movies, so i guess i must wait...
Don't forget that if you transfer on a SD card it should be really slow.
I don't think full screen (640x480) is a pb ...
did someone used vlc to stream the webcam/camera to internet or pc ?
lilliput - slow? How so?
Transferring onto an SD card through activesync is hell, but use a cheap USB 2 card reader and a high speed sd card and it takes a minute or so to transfer 700mb. Easy peasy... Watched many films like this is 640 16:9 on holiday.
V
slow because the universal like all other pda's interface to the sd card is much much slower then your usb2 card reader
Hi there,
I have an Orange SPV M600 and just about to purchase a new SD card.
One of the things I intend to do is play mp4 films stored on the card.
Has anyone else done this? Do I need a very fast sd card as I'm about to purchase a standard Kingston 2gb SD card.
James
I have a Lexar Platinum (40x) 1Gb SD card.
I play videos using TCPMP.
When I play Xvid's encoded for the pc (high resolution, this of course requires a high bitrate) at full quality the movement is rather choppy.
However when I re-encode the movies to the Prophets resolution (i.e. a max of 320x240) this of course lowers the bitrate, and at full quality there are no problems with the playback.
I'm not sure if the problem with the high-resolution playback is the Prophet's processor or the speed of the SD card, however when overclocking it does reduce the choppiness.
However I have tried using a 2Gb 150x SD card (forgot the brand, possibly APACER) and my Prophet did not recognise it at all.

i really don't think the speed of the SD card will be the limiting factor here.
that will be the cpu
However, i've heard a lot of horror stories about fast and big SD cards not working on the prophet.
i'm planning to buy a sandisk 2GB ultra II but i'm kinda worried that it will not work.
Can anyone confirm or deny this ? please also mention your version.
thanks,
ban
Had problems with Sandisk ultra ll 1.0gb
spv m600 would not recognise it.

Got a toshiba sd now and works ok.
http://www.toshiba-cards.de/
The one i bought was the blue model
Size 24mm x 32mm x 2.1mm
Maximum Write speed 2Mbytes/s
Maximum Read speed 7Mbytes/s
The speed of the SD card won't have any effect on playback. the bottleneck for video playback on the Prophet is the CPU.
thats it!
Toooooooooooo slow and hang a lot!!!
SUCK! coño!

Agreed. Using TomTom and found it very slow and refresh rate was very slow too. Transfer speed to Microdrive is also slow. Well you dont have an Athena yet correct? I got rid of mine too. I got 100% refund on it ^^
yeah have an Athena and I'm happy with almost everything, I mean the microdrive don't work very well.
Sometime I had to reset the device because the files in microdrive missing...
I'll buy an microSD card...
My Microdrive goes perfect. I know that early delivered TMobile Ameos got some troubles but my HTC Advantage X7500 works perfect.
It's not slow at all and I got no trouble with TT6 maps on it. I use it intensively since I have music, videos and maps for Tomtom and OziExplorerCe into the microdrive and all off them works perfect. And you know video playing is and drive usage intensive task. And related to OziExplorerCe I have in the microdrive about 2 GB of maps and sat-photos and all of them works perfect.
So... if your microdrive sucks... mine not.

no offense to the others, but my microdrive..like mahjong...is working perfectly. i'm using a u1000 by the way. i wonder if this problem is restricted to the a "spefic" athena. you know, ameo, advantage, x7500, etc. i hope there's a cab file or a quick fix which will help the others with their issues. maybe a rom upgrade will work? anyone with microdrive issues tried this already? if yes, did it improve?
cheers
I benchmarked the microdrive and it is significantly faster than my SD card!!
Also, it behave great, I got most of my programs installed on in because of the speed. It never hangs or gives an error.

Very interesting analysis! I've been keeping programs on my SD and mainly use the MicroDrive for data storage. Maybe I need to rethink that strategy...
What did you use for benchmarks?
BTW, I have had no problems with MicroDrive... which includes a three-foot drop to concrete floor! But others have reported issues.

I got my Ameo the day after it was released, so I consider it early, but its been excellent so far, and much quicker than miniSD
Indeed... I have no microdrive problems either, except that it drinks the battery if you do a lot of file swapping.
I used keep by programs on sd and only videos/photos on md. Now it has been reversed. My unit works very fast. Md is at least 10 times faster than my class 4 sd.
The other advantage of this arrangement is I can have unlimited number of sd cards that can be switched in and out like our floppy disk for pc. I'm no longer constrained by 12gb maximum storage. I can have unlimited videos and photos by simply having more sd cards.
Mine seems to disappear sometimes or the data on it becomes gobildegook but a soft reset fixes it.
I transferred 5gb of music in around 2hrs or less in a select all drag and drop scenario but when i try to transfer .avi files around 700mb, one at a time, they are taking over an hour.
Is this the norm?
Don't know if this will help anyone, but when i first had my advantage i had issues with the microdrive apparently dropping out while synced suddenly nothing in it at all, seems it only happened when WMP 11 on vista (don't know about other versions) decided it would try and sync up music as soon as the device was detected. Turned off WMP sync and have never had another issue.
As for video's i've been transferring 350mb ish DivX avi's in 10 to 15 minutes a piece, perhaps it depends on the encoding of the video ?
I'm with Korand 3.1 WM6.1 Rom.
All videos (mp4.avi) are laggy
And I using Transcend MiniSD 2GB with adapter, is it posible storage card to be the problem ?
I've tried to copy some videos to main memory and again they were laggy
Use TCPMP Media Player it should work
Today i bought Sandisk SD 2GB, and all video works fine for now
I've recordered some 1080p HD videos on my phone and have transfered them to my computer. What software do you recommend to convert them to DVD? I tried some that came with my computer but for some reason they don't play back smoothly. (I have 6gb ram and a quad core computer so I think thats not the issue).
