where is mobile justice in the tnt 2.0 pro at thanks
You can get it here - http://sourceforge.net/projects/mjustice
I'm still trying to figure out exactly why anyone with a wizard (or any model that doesn't have GPS integrated into it, which is most of them) would want to use it anyway. The only thing you can do with it is send text messages to whoever stole it that will show up on the screen without them actually knowing that they recieved a text message. Doesn't seem like much of a deterent to me.
programs/accessories/MJConfig <<<
Just curious, I went to the Mobile Justice site and it implies it only works on GPS enabled phones. Will it still work on a MDA, and if so, will it transmit SIM information so you can identify the thief or provide information to the police so they can track it down?

You haven't looked to see what all the program does... Sure we can't use the GPS part, but the main feature is you register your SIM card(s) to MobileJustice and if someone was to put in a SIM card that isn't registered, when the phone reboots it will send out an SMS to devices you have registered. You will then have the phone number of the sim that is now in your phone.
And yes, you can then send SMS to that phone number in a formatted way (if you enable this feature) and text boxes will show up on the phone...
I've also put in a request with the author to have another reply type message so you can send an SMS to the phone and it will reply back with the IMSI of the SIM card currently installed (so you can report both the IMSI and phone number to your carrier. Hopefully you keep your IMEI number safe someplace already so you can report that as well).
So this is a very capable freeware program for the Wizard. We just can't use the GPS feature (although if the thief hooks a GPS device up to it, that may work. Anyone with a GPS attachment that can test that?)
Sorry mfrazzz, I for some reason forgot the fact that it sent you back their phone number also.
Another thing that would be cool if the programmer could add would be if it sent you back their sim contacts, that way you could start calling all of their contacts and let them know that their son/daughter/employee/spouse/friend or whatever is a thief and possibly find out the persons name and maybe even their address in the process. That way you could notify the police exactly who stole it as you're filling out the stolen phone report.

Actually I think its been requested for either that, or access to the PIM database (too much info I'd think for that though).

no there is no way to do it. the only possible way would be for you to infect the switchboard with a virus that when it sees your imei or esn depending on your gsm/cdma status talking to a cell tower it broadcasts the caller id information from a preprogrammed selection that you put in the code of the virus. but like i said. unless you wanna goto jail for infecting a switchboard like that then my answer is still no.

Don't quote me on this but I think cingular has a feature now that allows you to prevent your name from showing only. It's called "Calling name block" and it is a free service. What actually shows is the number and "wireless caller". Otherwise....(I have a 8525) and I can go to phone options to select or deselect to BLOCK my caller ID. This will block everything. I hope this answers your questions.

Also to block your outgoing Caller ID info dial #31# before the number and it will show unavailable. I put my most address book entries this way.
... Or become a POP or telco provider, a little like Skype has done - it'll show SMSes which you send from your skype client as being sent from your Skype profile name when the recipient views them. Which is pretty funky.
Of course, I immediately tried to change my skype name to "Your Mum", because I'm infantile like that but unfortunately it didn't change it. Still pretty cool, though.
Well, i'd like to develop a security program that if your pocket pc phone gets stolen, you'd be able to do something different than just get the logs, gps coordinates, and number--i'd like to develop something that where if it gets stolen and you text the persons new number with a special word (like camera), it'll take a picture of the current setting of the phone. Sure at times, it might be in there pocket, but as long as you text that word, the phone takes pictures without the jacker knowing it and sends you the picture. I've never developed something so i'm asking if anybody here has, to what the first step would be. I chose this (got it from a convo with a friend) because i've yet to see something of this sort. Thanks
That would be slick.....hahaha..... that would be crazy if the ass taht stole it was in the same place u were....the club or something! NICE...I wish I had some programing skills....ONE
Yea, that's why i'd like to develop something like this--there would be a lot of interest and i've already heard that it would be super nice to have. Just need a cushion to start
I have two thoughts on this:
The phone side of it could be a simple MMS automation process. It would cut out a lot of work, because the MMS app already has the ability to interact with the camera and add the picture to the MMS and send it, even video and audio.
Secondly, there are programs out there, such as Vito FindMe, that provide the necessary code for making your phone run an automated process when it receives a specific word via SMS. In the Vito FindMe case, if it receives the word, it connects to GPS if available and then sends the phones GPS coordinates to the Sms'er. If a similar but open source type of Vito FindMe software could be found, most of the work would be done already. Then all you would need to do is tweak it to run the automated MMS script instead of GPS.
PS I am aware that Vito FindMe is free, but I don't think it is open source Etc I don't think the code is available.
What programs would i start off to develop this?
There is one more thing to think about. When someone stoles your phone, he probably won't use your sim-card (=phone number). To achieve all of this you need to find thief's phone number. You'd need some app to let you know the new nubmer when someone changes sim-card.
I'm looking for the best phone tracking software in case it gets stolen. I have been on www.freewarepocketpc.net and there are loads. Someone else posted that they use WIMP (www.freewarepocketpc.net) which is $15 after the trial. WIMP sounds pretty good, but there are so many free versions out there. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good free one, as I haven't got time right now to install all 30-odd and try them all.
Thanks!
I think RemoteTracker is quite good.

Thanks for the tip. Have installed (painless). Will test when the wife gets home!
I tried WIMP after reading this page.
it is absolutely gorgeous.
Took my phone and kept it next to the window.
Tried to sms the wimp code to my phone.
WIMP catches the sms without making it noticable and sends you an sms back with the exact GPS location of your phone and a link for Google Maps.
And even better, it will send a sms to the phonenumber you entered in the settings with the new phonenumber of the new simcard in the phone that has been "stolen".
Which means that you'll still be able to send an sms to the phone even if it doesnt has your SIMcard in it.
I choose WIMP.
I've used Ultimate Theft Alert v3.5 with success.
A killer software to Secure your Expensive Pocket PC Devices!
Ultimate Theft Alert is the best security application ever designed for Windows Mobile based Pocket PC devices.
Every mobile phone has a unique identification number called IMEI and likewise, every SIM has IMSI. Using this unique number, the software could distinguish the owner and thief.
Once your Pocket PC is stolen, obviously first thing the thief does is remove your SIM card and insert his own. Ultimate Theft Alert will identify this and send alert messages to all your alternate numbers directly from the thief’ SIM card. (You’re actually getting the thief’ mobile number!)
In addition to the thief’ number, the software will also forward you all his incoming SMS and incoming caller numbers. Knowing this, you can easily track down your stolen Pocket PC.
The possibilities don’t stop here. You can remotely control your Pocket PC when Ultimate Theft Alert is installed. Remote functions such as locking, unlocking of device, erasure of personal data and files can be done easily by sending a secret SMS command to your stolen Pocket PC.
When your Pocket PC has a GPS chipset built-in, Ultimate Theft Alert can pin-point the location of the device too!
To the best of all, the thief is completely unaware of all your tracking works. The secret SMS commands are all hidden from regular inbox and there will be no trace of SMS sent from your device too!
There's a significant section on XDA here when they were offering it for free, but I think the offer has expired
DOWNLOAD PAGE HERE
I use UTA also. And apart from the error message you get everytime you reset the phone (and yes I know you can disable the alert)...it's the best I've tried
I use WIMP also. its easy to use
I use smartphonetracker (google is your friend) now which is fairly painless and free.
The Everstealth software allows you to view a complete list of all the incoming and outgoing calls made on a particular mobile phone. An Employer would find it useful in determining if a phone was being used to make personal calls at the company expense.
Im in need of some assistance here, i have a nuisance caller txtin me all the time with silly things to say. Im a Team Leader in a Security Company and its my job to keep people on and let people go. Theres been lots of different people who have left due to my decision for management. Now im getting nuisance txt messages from a number which i would like to trace.
Ive looked at different types of websites, followus, trackme and all these need confirmation before the tracking process can begin. Is there anything out there that can help me in my quest for justice? Is it possible for someone to create a little app for the kaiser to get me some details regarding this fool who has not stopped stressing me out? Im a single dad with 2 kids to look after and im not getting any sleep due to this.
Any help would be grateful!
Before you ask
- I cant just turn my phone on silent as i am on call 24/7 also my mum is critically ill in hospital and i cant afford to miss calls.
- I dont want to block the number as i would like to know who this person is.
- Ive called my service provider and they have a 'all or nothing' policy
- I dont want to change my number because that means this person wins and i lose my number which i have had for 10years

Thats quiet a handy application but isnt there anything out there that would give away someones location or even details of the sender if the number is registered to an address?
Have a look at Net Caller ID. It works pretty good.

That one does. Well, it wont give the location of the caller (cell phone), but it will give you an address if there is one associated, and it can be found online.
Is there a way, other than adding *31# infront of the stored number, to enable caller ID per contact in my 'people' tab?
My number is blocked by default (and I'd like to keep it that way for a variety of reasons) but would like to enable the ID when calling my wife and select other people. The workaround so far has been to add the code above infront of the number but then it seems SMS messages are not going thru which is less than ideal (I could add a separate number entry for messages I guess, but still).
Having looked at the Phone settings it seems I'm able to select "Contacts only" which in my mind (as a dev) means someone has already written a app (or simply extended the current Contact app) to allow for this on a per-contact basis.
Any ideas?
You can try this MagiCall
http://www.mobiion.com/
I was also looking for this.
The MagiCall features don't mention the option to set caller id per contact.
@emigrating: Did you fix it another way?
Anyone else knows a good solution?
+1 same interrest same issue.
But as time goes on you can use the following workaround: or let's say this is the way I manage it......
If you use the traditional SMS Mode and hit reply sms goes through.
This doesn't work as mentioned in Konversation Mode.
It's uncomfortable because the konversation mode is the better client...but the only way you can send sms to someone stored as *31# contact.
It seems as if the konversation mode always refers to the number stored in your contact, whereas the traditional mode refers to the number which comes with the sms.
I hope someone can fix this, or has a better workaround, I'll be interested to!!!

use MagiCall. Set up a rule: for your wife's phone #, prepend *31#, then dial.
I use it for long distance calls. For all phone # not in my home area code, prepend 1511 (chaper long distance call provider), then dial. A small problem with this: need to disable this rule when roaming in another country.
Give it a try, it is good.
I've downloaded the trial version and set up a rule for Outlook categories, just to test. Change the dialed number to #31#{phone}. When I call someone in the particular category, the MagiCall icon appears in the topbar and my device freezes....
No big problem, I restarted my device to try again.
The same thing happens. Again I take out the battery and restart the phone.
At that point the device became terrible slow somehow.
With a little patience I succeeded uninstalling the app.
Restarting again.
Fortunately, my phome is normal speed again.
Sorry, I'm not a big fan of MagiCall at this moment...
----
Edit: Just trying again, because I can't find a real alternative.
The problem seems to occur when I choose Outlook Category as filter.
Just bad luck for me by choosing that option for my first try.
The program seems to respond on other conditions.
It could be my phone only, otherwise maybe I will contact Mobiion about this..
Edit2: The problem was known and was fixed in a newer version.
So it seems to work after all
