How r u my new frinds ???
My teacher ask me home work about the diffrent between Pocket PC & Palm OS??
or any Opreating System for mobiles......
please help meeeeeee
http://aspen.ucs.indiana.edu/collabtools/extras/MobileDevices.html
Click on the link and you should find all the information you need.
The main difference between the two is that Pocket PC is multitasking (you can run multiple programs at the same time) while Palm OS is not. But the next version of Palm OS will be multitasking. It's funny how Palm previously said the Pocket PC features (color, multitasking, fast CPU, etc.) are not needed and then later add those same features to Palm OS.
well in defence of palm then batt's are becomming better and
things like colour tft and .....
require less power then they used to
i see pocketpc as a pc which fit in your pocket (not shirt pocket though )
and palm as a eletronic calander / time manager. ... . . ..
a pocketpc is overkill for many people who just need a eletronic time manager
PLEASE I want the diffrence between the opraeting system of Pocket PC & Palm OS??
I am SORRY
Go search on google, we arent here to do your homework, what did you expect? a written up essay or something?

It turns out that the next version of Palm OS will not be a true multitasking OS. Instead, it will use the task-swapping method, and only if a program is written specifically for task-swapping. So the next version of Palm OS still won't be able to run multiple processes at the same time.
i have htc s730. and i want change htc s730 to Nike.. is this a smart move ? In Nike phone can install adobe flash player 9 ?
Change
I bought the s730 for my wife and I have the Niki. They are two different phones s730 is a smartphone, no touch screen, and Niki a ppc. My wife doesn't like the Niki's keyboard and doesn't need all the flexibility of the ppc operating system. I wouldn't trade either, however, I like keypad on the front of the s730. Only your needs can determine if the swap is worthwhile since they are quite distinct.
Is that possible to run WM in an iPhone.
Or run Android in a PPC?
I mean directly flash the ROM into iPhone or PPC.
Not like "running android on Kaiser"
Could anyone do this kind of "transplan"?
We should have a sub forum discuss about it, that make WM, and PPC more fun with it.
People are trying to make andriod to work in emulators on top of windows mobile first because they want it to be stable.
When everything is working stable, developers could look into flashing a andriod rom with andriod bootloader onto a device.
For now it is more important to get everything to work properly.
and about the iPhone.. we still dont know wether its fake or not.. its just a rurmor.. the developer promised it to be released by jan.. till then wait for jan..
i think WM on iphone is fake.............
there are very rare chances of that happenning.......
WM on iphone
there is WM on iphone, Norwegian developer did it,
http://5x5m.com/lp/277/windowsmobile.html
is it going to be freeware???????
i would seriously think about getting an i phone then........
Why would somebody want to have WM on a device which can't be used with stylus?
At the start, I knew that there was something fishy about it. Look at the phone, the bootloader is too "friendly" to be a beta.

"Okay, looks like we (I, the bloggers, the Internet, the Windows Mobile users) were "too excited" (?) by running Windows Mobile on iPhone hardware. As it turned out (thanks for the comments and E-Mails), the video and the whole story above is a hoax and part of a viral marketing campaign from Sonic Emotion, a maker of surround-sound systems for PCs, handhelds and other things that need surround sound." - Source
There is already Android on PPC. I have it installed on my phone.

yes, but it doesnt work very well
I think everybody should now, that there is a "working" androit for windows mobile based devices...
I'm definitely going to try it once its bootable as a seperate OS.
I'm sure the peeps at XDA are going to be successful in porting it on to ppc aswell, so I'm just patiently waiting.

There is already android on msm 7200 Chipsets like the Kaiser or Vouge
And it's not an Emulator and run on the ROM.
But you must load the Bootloader "HaRET" on Windows, and after that, Windows mobile is quitted
also, windows mobile is working on iphone wich lags realy
Say WM is flashed onto iPhone somehow. But as Parg said it can't be controlled by stylus. And there is no Dpad, then some application can not be used with that hardware.
Indeed, it makes much more sense to get a Diamond instead of trying to flash WM on iPhone.
Additional to the hardware troubles (stylus, unsupported multitouch, ...), there would be license troubles. Guess you don't want to pay MS for WM on iPhone, even if that was possible, right?
Android, or at least a compatible system, should be possible for every device (at least in theory). However, if I buyed a device including a WM license, I'd prefer a good emulator (or rather VM, similar to the J2ME VMs which allow to use Opera Mini). That way, both WM and Android programs would run fine. OK, bad chance to modifiy the main system interface (start menu + Today screen), but I like the plugin concept of the Today screen anyway...

iphone? whats that? wasnt it a fad fashion accessory from last year that claimed to be a tech revolution in, well, in, I dont know? lets see, its not a smart phone, not a PPC, not a Symbian, its more a feature phone containing a proprietary operating system with very limited 3rd party support apps and interface.
Why would such a great device want WM running on it? oh yeah I know, it sux and its boring UI would eventually drive you nuts for lack of customization and limitation of available "decent" apps! hahahahhahhahha It'll never run M2D or some of the other awesome skinnable applications or any Linux OS etc, Its just WacOSX and doesnt even provide onboard bluetooth with A2DP holly crap even my 5 year old piece of junk Symbian supports A2DP, in a few months WM devices will be released with Bluetooth v2.1 (700kbps) and soon version 3 speeds up to 480Mbps. carried away sorry

Dpad is not essential for PPC,
usually, apps can direct operate by touching the screen.
the only problem is games, a lot of games have to use dpad as controller.

iphone hardware is not a big problem,
as long as iphone is one device, no matter how many people are study on it, it is one device.
Android on PPC is a problem, there are so many different PPC, which one should we study on?
License is not necessary, Hacking, of course, is not legally with license.
I sow here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382265 that the user DZO ported Android as an image on a virtual machine for HTC Touch.
They have a site here http://www.myhtcphone.com/ and I downloaded the needed files to try to see if it is working on my old Wizard. It is very simple to install it (they created even a .cab file)
But is seems that is not working. It is saying booting linux, it is displaying the console with 4 or 5 lines and after that it remains with a white screen.
Doses any one tried also to run this Android image on an HTC Wizard ?
Yes, currently there is no working version of Android on the Wizard, simply because we are missing some propriatery JAVA drivers and framework, that at least I have not been able to secure for our use. Perhaps in time a version will become available. I am still working on a version, but I dont have much hope for it.
No big deal, however I do not like Android... For now, Android is out of WM league, i know it's based on linux, but just a few apps are availible and so... A two years ago I instaled linux on my SX1 - what a wasting of time - Qtopia sucks also...
in open-nandra com sound driver for linux HTC Wizard - how this add to android?
It is something new, I have an old MDA Vario, and I want him working for Android
If you want the best system for your MDA Vario, use Windows Mobile. I suggest Ham3r's H3r5, but CRACING's CR96 is good for WM6.5, and many ROMs to choose from, even though very few are recent.
If, instead, you want Android, I suggest a different phone. I got an old AT&T Tilt, which is HTC Kaiser, and it runs Android well. In my opinion Wizard was a better phone for its time, but Android on Wizard is very immature, and advancing very slowly.
How about Windows Phone 7? See: http://www.xda-developers.com/featu...gn=Feed:+xda-developers/ShsH+(xda-developers)
Hey guys,
My boss just got a DroidX, and it is slightly different than my SGS. I want to know if there is a software version of the phone, similar to how the windows mobile SDK allowed you to run an instance of the OS on your computer screen.
I want to be able to control my own version of the phone, or see each screen at least, so i can tell him what to do and he doesn't go back to the idiotPhone.
can i do this with a file from the android sdk?
