hi,
this question might not even have anything to do development. i have been using my exec for a year now, and the problem is that the stylus has become quite loose and doesnt stay in the phone securly, have others had similar problems and if yes what's their solution?
thanks
Same problem, but no solution, im sorry
The inner plastik thingy which holds the stylus is somehow.. overused or rubbed off?
I dont think that there is a solution :/
I had the same problem with my old xda exec.
Stuck sellotape around stylus and that did the trick for me.
Simple but effective. Needed to replace sellotape once a month.
I had the same problem. First I have use scotch tape around the stylus which looks ugly therefore I start use few drops of Super glue and making little swell on the stylus
A little lump of blue tac pushed into the socket which holds the stylus in place when I put it in.

Believe me when I say that the best alround solutution is to by a replacement stylus like this one http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/8393.htm
I lost my first stylus about six months ago because it was too loose, there is no way this one will fly out. It fits nice and snug.

I second this! These stylii fit very securely and are MUCH better than the originals that come with the device. I've had 2 because I accidentally dropped one right on the tip (dropped from my hand, it didn't slip out of the Universal) and both were snug.
bend stylus
i tried to paint my last stylus with nail enamel (color metalic gray), didn't work ...so i decided to bend it a little
it worked for me..
tricky question .. how much bend it ?
well.. i didn't clean enamel from stylus, (im lazy...) while i was trying to bend enamel crack ....that was my scale
The little clip which holds the stylus in on mine broke off completely. I opened the case up and glue the clip back in while padding it out with paper at the same time. Holds the stylus rock solid now, much better than it ever did before.

Is anyone experiencing this problem. I have now lost my fourth stylus. The slightest knock will dislodge the stylus whilst on the belt clip. Because the xda 11 will now swivel around due to the location of the clip, stylus will fall from unit. Anybody got sources for replacements?
I haven`t lost one yet but
I must amid, these things are lovely to eat , as they are so much smaller and tinner than the IPAQ ones. And they also make a lovely toothpic.
And of course of the perfect shape at the top, they are the ultimate tool to clean out your....
Same here im on my 3rd. I have purchased more from www.pdaaddons.com
I have had mine for a little over a week and have already lost one stylus.
Looks like I will be reverting to my Rotring 600 Trio as I find the stylus way to tiny in any case.
http://www.styluscentral.com/rotring600trio.html
I tried www.pdaaddons.com but they don't mentiona stylus for the xda2.
Stylus XDA II PLUS pen!
I know ink is soooo passé...
but I got a stylus that has a dead handy ink-pen inside from brando.com!
Refills very cheap too! Very quick delivery from Hong Kong.
Tightening up the Sytlus Holder
Is ther any way to do this?
Kind regards
Alan
I have noticed that the ones o2 uk shops sell are slightly thinner than the original one that came with my XDA2, and keeps slipping out, could try some blue tack to hold it in place!!!
try ebay.
A lot of compnies are offering styli in 3-pack, which gives you 2 spares!
ccc
The trick is not to loose it!
Needs to fit better
After losing two styluses, I bought a stylus with a built-in pen at the other end. To keep from losing this stylus, I modified the XDA II case. I cut the transparent hard plastic packaging material of the stylus and attached it using electrical tape to the top of the XDA II leather case. The plastic is now blocking the path of the stylus. There is no way now for the stylus to fall unless I open the case.
I don't like cases so I don't have that option. I was wondering if there was a way to modify the silo or perhaps put some sort of compression spring/washer in the grove at the bottom end of the stylus

Real Filipino inguinity.. hehehehehe...
Almost lost my sytlus two days ago, its a good thing that I remembered that I tried to get the stylus out while in the car but had to stop because my XDA2 fell in the floor. After 2 hours my friend noticed that the stylus is missing, took me a few minutes before I remembered the attempt that I made while inside the car... hehehe.. almost made me angry at the thought of losing the stylus...
It always happened the same way: I drop a stylus and the tip breaks off.
Every single time.
Sometimes I can be a but clumbsy but I think it is rediculous that it cant handle the fall. Are there styli which arent so very breakable or do I have to make some construction with a line of rope connecting my stylus to the phone or something... doh... any ideas? Styli arent the cheapest things for what you get and I dropped my stylus 5 times now (yes that means I broke 5 of them). I dont want to spend a fortune on finger replacements...
Thanx for any replies
I also have some stylus problems...
my first kill: the big plastic part at the back broke clean off when i dropped it onto the street
I injured one, but it came back to life: the big plastic part at the back came out of the aluminium part of the stylus, i glued it back in and seems fine again.
Today i found bought a dead one...: i bought a set of replacements, and one of them is missing the tip of the stylus...
So i agree, they should have been built a bit better than this...
Hi,
I killed one Blueangel stylus.
The should make full metal ones, lol
Or full plastic ones...
I've never broken my HP H5550 stylus (which is ugly, but indescructible)
Hi
I fixed my stylus on my vario(wizard) as it kept falling out.
I now have the same problem on my Universal (JASJAR).
Is there a thread for this already as I cant find it, if not could you please tell me how to keep it fixed in.
Thanks
Steve

get a small piece of paper (really small) colour it black and stick it in the hole. served me well. you won't even notice

Yeah, some idiot did that to mine too- that was the last time I let anyone but me touch it.
Ditto. I can't tell you how many times people have done that.
Something i did with my first MDA Pro, was to bend the plastic part of the stylus VERY GENTLY to one side. After i did that, it fitted much more snugly into the slot..... although obviously you have to be careful not to snap the plastic part of the stylus off
my stylus is also loose. is this a common issue w/ d HTC univ?
im looking 4 a stylus-pen 4 d univ but cant find 1 here. :?

lol in all fairness it was by little 5 year old cousin (let him off)
the paper trick i wrote does work and was more than happy with it (although got a new exec via insurance so it does not really matter)
TJ i would not say it was a common fault with the universals, i think it would be classed more as misuse.
i got a pack of 4 stylus from 02 (lost both of the original ones on drunken night outs  lol) i think it was £9ish for 3.
paper works great ty
Solved for me
Yes, I had the same problem with the stylus, never stay in place, so I put a little piece of the screen protector inside so this way the stylus is always in place and strong.
I'm hoping someone might have a helpful suggestion other than "take it apart." I've been using a stylus / pen that I got off ebay. The ball point pen is hidden under a cap at the opposite end of where the stylus point is.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190199301645&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=009
It works great except that the cap came off while the stylus was inside my advantage --- and now, I can't get the stylus out. It's stuck, and there's no way to reach in and get it.
Any thoughts??
Thanks
I think you could put some glue (very little) inside the cap and then put it (the cap) into the HTC stylus hole. After a time take it out and then try to remove the glue (dissolving or smthg like that). Peter.
Thanks, I'll try that!

Just be careful not to touch the sides while sliding the pen in, or it will get very messy in there and harsh when the glue dries and come time to put a new stylus in. Thanks for the heads up because I was going to purchase a pack of 3 in 1 pens. I won't now due to the fact that it can come apart.

WOW!! IT WORKED!!!! THANKS!
Of course, do what you think is best, but I'm going to keep using it. I think the fault was mine, not the pen's.
THANKS AGAIN!
Does that stylus actually fit completley into your advantage? I have the exact same 3 pack sitting at home, ordered off ebay, and its just not capable of fitting into the slide on the advantage. Not to mention how shoddy the quality appeared to be with regards to how the 3 pieces stick together. I mean its obvious when you mix metal with plastic threads...things are gonna work loose very quickly. Anyway, I just ordered a 3 pack of 3in1 stylus from expansys that they are advertising as an exact fit, made specifically for the advantage, as well as a 3 pack of oem stylus just to make sure heh.
Okay, I posted before about droping my stylus in a store while trying out a case. Well it almost happened again, except this time it stuck to the magnetic clasp on the case. I got to thinking that this is too big a risk. I took some invisible Scotch tape and rolled about 1 1/4" (~32mm) around the stylus at the handle end and voila, the perfect amount of friction. Now this is how I like it of course and if you have the problem then you may want to add more or less tape to get the feel you want.
Just my experience, dhatw.
can you post the picture? I lost my stylus today
There really is not much to see but here is a pic anyways. The tape is not that obvious, the flash made it stand out more.
