Keyboard backlight on the 8125

Seems to me that there was a post a while ago that hacked the registry so that the keyboard light stayed on for 30 seconds (or whatever you set it to). I tried it, but it didn't seem to work. Any suggestions?
Also, is there some way to make the backlight on the keyboard come on when the keyboard is opened? Mine doesn't turn on until you press a key.
I'm running ROM 2.17.7.2 WWE from Summiter (thanks, by the way!)
what i'd like is a hack or app that turns the keyboard light on when the keyboard slides out or when the device switchs to landscape mode.

I would also like to know if there is a hack to keep the keyboard backlit longer than the 5 seconds it's set to.
Here's the registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight\QKeyLedTimeout

QKeyLedTimeout does not exist in that directory. Am I correct in assuming it must be added? and if so how would I set the timeout value?
It's been a long standing fact that the HTC Wizard's keyboard is Hardware activated, and the QKeyTimeout value in the registry makes no difference. We're still waiting on a way to get it to stay on longer or activate upon viewing in landscape mode or the magnetic switch between the keyboard and the screen
Are we still waiting for this? I thought I would ask since it is annoying to me and the last post on this thread was almost 3 months ago.

Onscreen Keyboard?

Seriously...is there no way to permanently disable this onscreen keyboard? It is ridiculous!
Does this happen with all WM5 devices?
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/nullkeyboard.shtml
Install it and set it as your default keyboard.
Please, does anyone have a more reliable and permanent way to disable the onscreen keyboard? Perhaps a registry edit? I have tried several of the null programs and none are effective. This pop-up is really ruining my experience. Any help is appreciated.
Currently I am running an 8125 with summiters 2.17 ROM.
How is this not perment? You set that to be the default keybaord and it will never show up.
None of the null programs have proven to be permanent on my device. And all of them often have an issue of not being able to choose nullkb if the pop-up is already onscreen.
This is not a solution. I need something to permanently remove/disable the onscreen keyboard.

See my post in another thread "Disable virtual keyboard via registry"
why would you go and do that. Install TenGo and you'll see a better on screen keyboard.

Tengo seems like a cool app but I think the real quest in this thread is about preventing the virtual keyboard from auto-popping up. Couldn't tell if Tengo has a mode where it does not pop-up unless the keyboard icon is explicitly tapped.

Can't have T9 automatically ON for HW keyboard

When I use HW keyboard it always has ABC mode on. I have to use FN key and T9 key to choose T9 manually.
How can I enable T9 to be automatically ON when I use HW keyboard?
Thank you for your help
the t9 always works with a onscreen keyboard. Also if you manage it with a hack a problem would be to where the word suggestions should pop up on the screen.
when someone write a programme for your suggestion than it would be a custom keyboard without letters, only word suggestions and pops automaticly up when the keyboard on the pro is used.
Maybe someone already wrote it.
It would be nice trough
Search for the cab god damn it! There is a cab in one of the ezinput keyboard threads in dev & hacking that allows T9 to always be on (Yes, including the HW keyboard).

You don't happen to have a link to this cab at hand, do you? I for one would like to have the T9 always on (even with the hw keyboard), but did not manage to find the correct thread / cab even after an extensive search.
I searched with no result, unfortunately. If you could be so kind to address me to that cab, I would be very grateful indeed.

Oh that was so hard I almost had to use my brain
First result when searching on ezinput T9 always enable came up trumps...
DeadKeys / T9 as default behaviour for the Fn+Space combo - Full HW Keyboard phones
I thank you very much. Even if I walk around here for years, sometimes it happens that I am not able to find out things. Fortunately there are others who help
You're very welcome, glad to help.
Thanks for pointing out about the keyboard, did you test it and it works?
why not FN + Space It´s working at my device
Because I would like that when I slide out the keyboard I can immediately type with T9 on, without switching it on manually - this is the meaning of "automatically ON"
okaaaay. sry for that, but just tell me the sense of T9 with a "complete" keyboard!?? Do you also have T9 at your computer at home?

I see a couple of ways T9 is useful with the full keyboard.
1. Words like "won't" can be typed out with w-o-n-t rather than w-o-n-FN-'-t
2. It helps with long words. We can use the arrow keys to choose the word after a couple of letters rather than typing out the rest of the word.
There's a fundamental difference between the keyboard on a mobile device like the Rhodium and your desktop keyboard. On our Rhodium, we have only our 2 thumbs. On a full size desktop/notebook, we make use of all 10 of our fingers.
It seems that we are concentrating on why I have asked to have T9 ON, while I was asking HOW to have it on.
If you don't agree that it is a good thing that somebody finds out how to, simply don't post here
I never used T9 but it supposed to offer words from vocabulary? in my case it doesn't...
well, has someone found a way to make this work on landscape or hardware keyboard ??
having to always activa xt9 is boring ..
(that cab does not work) looking at the registry is changes from 1 to 0 when changing to landscape and it's the htc keyboard doing this. If you activate xt9 and change to the default windows keyboard it works but then you have a small keyboard when on portait.
I agree, the same thing happens to me. The easiest solution is to have it rotate to portrait, pull up the XT9 keyboard and then open the screen.
It's a pain, though. Would love another solution.
Dead key
None of CABs which can be found here are not working the way that if I will press Fn+Sym it acts as deadkey - always T9 dialog is shown. Have anybody idea how to change it?

Have you considered an alternative keyboard? Fingerkeyboard, for example, is very popular. This link is to the last release, which is obsolete, but it has some images on it, and a link to the latest version...

I personally like the default keyboard, but that one's not much different, but with extras
Hope this helps
I second that.
I like the original keyboard a lot, but the XT9 is kind of useless for Brazilian Portuguese.
If there is any way to definetly disable it, to prevent the annoyance of accidentaly turn it on, I also want to know...
Third that... really2 need a program to disable the T9...
love the original keyboard.. but the T9 button is bugging me..

[Q] How to disable power on device when sliding keyboard?

Hi there,
Anybody found a reg tweak (or cab) to disable the power on when you slide out the keyboard? I tried the tweak of HTC's Raphael (and Kaiser) but it did not work..
I want to be able to slide the keyboard (e.g. in my pocket) without losing battery power..
If anybody knows the trick, please post the solution. Thanks in advance!

What exactly do you mean by sliding the keyboard out without losing power?
The question is, i believe, how to prevent the device from waking up when the keyboard slides open?
And that i would like to know also if it's possible. I know you can do it on the Touch Pro by moding the registry.

ok, now I understand what it meant.... But, just out of curiosity, what's the purpose of sliding the keyboard in and out, if you're not intending to use the phone? (Just for admiring the craftmanship of the beautiful keyboard??? h.e.e.e..e. )
That's exactly what the question was. In a bag the phone could slide open. because the phone wakes up the battery drains faster. It was a reg key on the Touch Pro but that reg key didn't work on the Omnia.
For now it's not interesting for me anymore, because the Omnia was stolen last week, but I think other users may be interested in this feature.

I'm really sorry that your omnia was stolen. Didn't you activate the mobile tracker service? it could help you trying to get it back...
Mobile tracker wasn't set up yet, too bad, but thanks for the help.
