hello group,
I have searched the forums and the wiki, but have found nothing about this. I'm also looking at microsoft's kb, nothing yet.
when I set up a calendar appointment on my 8525 and add an attendee, an email gets sent to that attendee with the appointment via whatever email account you have selected in calendar options.
when I do this, the appointment that the other person receives is set to the time and day I sent it, rather than the time and day of the appointment.
has anyone else seen this?
is there a fix? perhaps the dst patch caused it. this didn't happen with my old harrier.
***update edit-
this only happens with outlook 2007. when I send to outlook 2003sp2 the appointment date and time is correct.
***
I'm still on the old 1.34.502.1 cingular rom, since I couldn't get blackberry connect working with the new att rom.
thanks in advance!
wes
tried this with two different outlook 2007 installations and it is broken on both. can anyone that has access to a pc running outlook 2007 try this out and tell me if it is a problem for them, and what rom version you are using?
thanks!

What version Exchange are you running?
Have you installed that April OL2007 patch I saw mentioned on M$'s KB? Doesn't seem to address your issue but who knows...
I'l test with my Exchange 2003, OL2003 and OL2007 clients and see if I can duplicate your complaint later today.
thanks!
I'm using pop, no exch server. it works if I select the appt and send as an ics, but not when I set up the appointment on the hermes and add attendees so it sends the appt email automatically.
tytn account is pop,
outlook 2003 and 2007 are both pop too. don't have access to an exchange client running 2007, but exchange with outlook 2003 does work, I've tested that.
I haven't loaded the hotfix on the kb, because it does seem unrelated. all updates are applied.
posted the problem on the ms newsgroups for outlook 2007, but no replies yet.
thank you very much for your help!
wes
Sorry but you're on your own. I quit "popping" years ago.
Good luck!
ok,
thanks anyway.
for what it's worth, I don't think the mail service has anything to do with it. either the appt is formed incorrectly on the hermes, or it is interpreted incorrectly by outlook 2007. strangely enough, the same email appt. show up correctly in 2003, so it is something specific to outlook 2007.
thanks again,
wes

Anyone have any ideas how I can sync an O2 XDA Mini S with an Apple Mac? Right now Missing Sync / PocketMac don't support WM5. One thought is to use MS Entourage and a ISP host that offers hosted MS Exchange. From what I can see, this route will let me sync email (via IMAP), but what about contacts / diary / tasks. Will it work? Are there any better ideas?
I tried using VPC but although Activesync 4.1 installed fine it will not recognise my K-JAM.
Mind you neither will a damn silly IBM Laptop sat next to my Powerbook............
I am getting ready to send this pup back which would be a real shame as I love the form factor of this beastie.

I currenty use a hosted Exchange setup, and so bypass using my Mac for syncing. It syncs email, tasks, appointments, and contacts flawlessly between Entourage, Exchange and my K-Jam. Also, when Microsoft eventually releases AKU2 with Direct Push, it'll push email from my Exchange account to my phone.
I have no complaints about using Exchange (whereas the features offered by PocketMac and MissingSync are really behind the curve.
My advice, pay for the hosted Exchange account. It'll work out slightly more expensive, but it'll work perfectly.

Yes but this won't allow me to sync my work Outlook account nor will it allow me to sync my files, SplashID and a number of other applications that I sync on a daily basis.

Thanks for the info. It's what I've been thinking about. Who do you use? Any hints on how to set this all up?
sync with mac
I use 4smartphone exange server - worked fine with my qtek 9090 and works fine wint xda s mini. To transfer/sync files I use bluetoth file transfer from my powerbook. It is not as convinient as using windows but its OK for me.
Does that work OK with MS Entourage and Pocket PCs? I took (a brief) look at their website http://www.4smartphone.net and it seemed to only talk about Windows.
How long have you been with them? Any problems with service?
Thanks
4smartphone
it works fine with entourage (exept it doen't sync tasks). Emails, contacts and calendar - no problem. I've used them for six month now - no service problems so far. Now they even can send sms to set up your device (wm5) so you don't have to do it manualy.
BTW if you want to use apple's address book - it can sync with ehange server. I just found that out - forks well with 4smartphone server. I wanted that to be able to lookup contacts on my powerbook usig quicksilver. It indexes address book very well.

the_invisigoth any comments on your host?
TIA
I'm in the UK, and use 1&1 (www.1and1.co.uk). I have to say that their tech support is absolutely rubbish!!! However, the actual Exchange service they offer is excellent, with no outage problems etc. in the 2 months I've been using it.
Setup is fairly easy, and contrary to what has been said above, task syncing DOES work, but only with the latest MS update (Came out about 3 weeks ago). As for any other 3rd party app syncing usually done over ActiveSync, I just use the wi-fi connection. File transfer is done over Bluetooth using the ever friendly Mac Bluetooth File Exchange wizard, and if I have to install something from a PC because the developers haven't provided a CAB file (latest MS Reader update for WM5, grrr :evil, I resort to using my girlfriend's laptop.
The one thing I haven't been able to do is to use my phone as a bluetooth modem for my Powerbook. For some reason, OS X doesn't see the phone as a DUN agent, as it used to with my Nokia 7610.
Other than that, the perfect Windows-free setup!
Thanks Invisigoth.
I signed up to 1and1 yesterday and everything is working ok. I'll try out task synching.
One question, did they move your email domain to their servers? Or did they just point Exchange to your domain? One thing I don't want to do it move my domain and website.
1 and 1
Invisigoth - "task syncing DOES work, but only with the latest MS update (Came out about 3 weeks ago)".
I tried it and it doesn't seem to work. I've checked my Mac and all the software is up to date. Is there anything I'm missing?
Club i-mate hase a free Exange server on there site. Works fine!
What I've done, since I already have a seperate hosting setup for my domain, is redirect all my mail from jonathansimmons [dot] co [dot] uk to my completely random and impossible to remember 1&1 email exchange address. This way, the service acts seemlessly, but you keep your domain registered with your existing provider.
Also, have just realised that I'm being a complete imbecile about task syncing. Tasks on your Wizard will sync with the exchange server, and be available to view online, but Entourage still doesn't sync them locally. Hopefully Microsoft will put this final measure in place before too long, after all the work they put in to make Entourage work more smoothly with Exchange.
I am using a K-JAM and I'm unable to sycn my tasks OTA with Exchange. We are running Exchange 2003 SP2 and there are a couple other people in the office on the same server running Sprint 6700s that work fine. Any ideas?
My Calendar, Inbox and Contacts work great, and the Tasks box is checked.
Thanks
afaik tasks cannot my synced ota with exchaneg.. google it
I have found mixed messages on this which is why I posted here. Some places say that you only need WM5 and Exchange 2003 SP2. Other places say you need Messaging Feature Pack installed on WM5.
Does anyone know which is true? The option is available on my K-JAM to sync tasks, I just does nothing.
Has anyone here sucessfully synced their tasks OTA?
Thanks
Tasks sync-ed OTA
I can sync Tasks OTA using 4SmartPhone and my K-Jam with no issues. I recently switched to 4SmartPhone from MailStreet (both are hosted Exchange Services). I was NOT able to sync Tasks OTA with MailStreet, so it is most likely a server-side software set up, not a client-side issue, since I have not changed anything on my phone (no ROM upgrades, etc).
Steve
I confirmed with two of my coworkers that they are infact syncing tasks OTA with a Sprint 6700 and JasJar (T-Mobile).
The strangest thing is that we are on the same Exchange server.
I tried a hard rest today thinking that something was foobar on my K-JAM because of all the software, but I am seeing the same issue.
I guess it could be an issue with my Exchange mailbox, but I can't think of any settings that would cause this. I'll try syncing with my home Exchange sever (geek) this weekend and see if it has the same issue.
Hi All !
Sorry for the basic question. I would like to sync my TyTn with two Exchange server.
1. Exchange server in the company
2. Hosted Exchange server
Do you have any idea, how to do that ?
As far as I know it is impossible at the moment. Activesync only allows one server to be set up. My intuition tells me we will probably never see it as there is only one contact, task, calender and email store in WM5 and having them both syncronised via 2 servers would cause more conflicts then you can shake a big stick at.
Yep, it's a glaring gap in PPC functionality, but it is not possible to sync with two different Exchange servers!
Sorry to jump on this thread, but the knowledge may be relevant.
If no exchange server existed, but you have a desktop, a laptop, and TyTN, is there a sync solution for all 3 devices?

You can sync your PPC with two pcs (but only e-mail from one of them).
Everything else can be sync'd between them all.
My MDA Pro is sync'd with an excange server for my e-mail and 2 desktops (home and work) for contacts, calendar, tasks, notes and files.
Could it be possible to link with thew hosted exchange using the built in capability, and then use funambol (with the exchange connector plug-in) to sync with the in house exchange server?
Ive not tried it, but I hold out big hopes for funambol as a synchronising tool for a mixed network solution.
I'm also interested in syncing with 2 exchange servers. Maybe a third-party program?
I also have a problem using active sync: I am trying to sync my tytn with an exchange server (email, just for pushmail with mail2web) and with my pc (outlook calendar and contacts). I just can't get it to work. I removed the whole sync pairing with my pc and redid it and then it worked once. After that it keeps on looking for changes and in the end it comes with the error message.
So basically I want to sync one exchange server and my outlook, anyone a solution? I tried it with both AS 4.2 and the 4.5 beta. I use the tytn rom...

I don't believe that's true. It is possible to set up funambol, with multiple servers, and use the funambol clients (one which exists for WM5) to sync with these multiple servers.
If you can justify *why* your statement is true, and why it is applicable in this case, then I would be very interested to hear.
Yes, there IS a way. MSFT has actively closed that loophole with ActiveSync 4.x
But I found a way around. See my post in the activesync newsgroup:

Ignore the typos in the post (ooops) and enjoy
I have no idea if funambol can help or is relevant, but I can tell you that people have been trying to find a multi-MS Exchange Server sync option for years, and I have NEVER seen a successful solution before...
There are many threads on this forum that will confirm the same...
Believe me, I'd be thrilled to have somebody resolve this, as I also have a personal Exchange server and multiple work Exchange servers!!!
Over-the-air sync with 2 exchange servers: success
Hi,
My approach: use one exchange server with Visto push mail. The other with exchange activesync directly to the server and it works. Two separate mailboxes too. (this is the main reason why you cannot sync with two exchange servers directly) It works fine for me.

Thanks for verifying that way works. This is exactly the approach I was suggesting (but using funambol and exchange connector for the server over which the organisation has control - rather than Visto).
But just to be clear, has anyone found a way to use Exchange ActiveSync with two different servers? (I suspect not)

could not really get the method. I want to syn two different mailboxes from the same server in the device. Tell me please the way to do it
I'd really like 2 OTA exchange connections... but I'll take what I can get.
Acct1: (OTA Home Exchange sync)
email, contacts, calendar, notes, tasks, etc
Acct2: (USB Work Exchange sync)
......, contacts, calendar, notes, tasks, etc
use seven.com to push email from acct2 OWA, acct3, and acct4
I'm currently using Funabmol to sync the 2 exchange setups via outlook...
mail from one exchange server, calendar/contacts from another...

Thought I would share it as i've been trying to figure out how sync my corporate email & calendar via one activesync server (company) and google contacts via another (the google server). So now I have both personal email (gmail IMAP) and work email (Exchange) and my personal contacts imported into the native contacts list.
Hope someone else finds this useful.
BTW, I also set HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\EnableNonLocalCrossPollination to "1" instead of "0".

Hi,
I'm using my 8525 to sync with my exchange 2003 server. This works great and the folders I selected using ActiveSync 4.5 are downloading the e-mails as they do on my office PC desktop. Here's my problem, any email that doesn't come directly into the "Inbox" doesn't notify me on my 8525 as it does on my Outlook 2007. Is there a way to tell the phone to notify me when any email get synced into any folder???
Thanks
Steve
Me too!
Does anyone know of a way to get WM5 or WM6 to notify you when you get a new message in a Sub Folder under 'Inbox'???
Is there a registry hack or 3rd party program that can do the trick?
Many thanks for your help in advance!
Cheers,
Jason
quick answer is no.
I was bothered by this also coming from the blackberry world, but that is the way M$ has set it up.
I had heard it was going to be addressed in future releases, but in WM6 it is still the same. Unless I am missing something.
WM 6.5, HTC Imagio on Verizon
Recently, my HTC Imagio has started to launch the Messaging (Pocket Outlook) app randomly and without any input from me at all. Yes, I have an Exchange ActiveSync account as well as Hotmail Push setup but, again, this strange behavior only started a week or two ago and I have had Exchange ActiveSync setup for months. I have made it a point to make sure that Messaging/Pocket Outlook is completely closed down when I am through with it, but Messaging/Pocket Outlook continues to launch itself fully, without any input from me whatsoever.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just started getting this when I added my yahoo account, never happened while using it to sync with my exchange server. so I am thinking it has something to do with adding a pop 3 account.
Probs with Yahoo! Too
I have had unrelated problems with Yahoo! mail on my WM 6.5 HTC Imagio. With only an Exchange ActiveSync and Hotmail Push account running, however, does anyone have any clue as to why Messaging/Outlook Mobile would recently begin to launch by itself randomly?
Same here, very strange, I cannot notice a pattern, it just happens sometimes, I'm synced to an EXCHANGE server as well as hotmail
I deleted my Yahoo account and Hotmail Account off the Phone and have not had it happen since. I still sync with my Company Server, but the app does not open by itself, so I am thinking it had something to do with the 5 minute sync for yahoo and/or hotmail accounts.
Just wondering if maybe Verizon or HTC has launched an over-the-air update to supposedly fix something, which has in turn broken email?
I don't know if it'll work, but a hard-reset or flashing back to stock ROM might help. If it does, then I'd sure be contacting HTC or Verizon to let them know their "fix" is systematically breaking phones.
Has anyone inquired as to wether or not any OTA updates have been applied by their carriers?
Has anyone heard of any potential fix to this problem? I recently upgraded my Imagio's ROM to 3.04.605.7 -- it was only after that upgrade that Messaging started to open itself every five minutes when it checks my gmail account. I don't recall any of that happening under the OEM ROM. Any thoughts beyond downgrading to the last version?
