i had success playing all mp4 files using quicktime
i had the exact same problem. any video i transferred to my pc would not play. quicktime would play 3gp files, but not mp4. no other software would play my mp4 files except for vlc player. i'm assuming it's an error in my windows installation or registry. i'm gonna transfer a couple vids to one of my laptops and see if they play on there. then i'll know whether or not it's due to my windows installation. if they play on laptop, i'll do a clean install of xp and see if they play.
Super will play them as well as the newest realplayer....
Hi
Why u not try Ultimate Media Pack or Classic Media Player? U can get this soft on www.9down.com
download quicktime OR download and install this then you can play the vids in wmp on your pc

I had the same problem, I just rename the video files from .mp4 to .3gp on my computer and it plays them just fine.
As I used to use P535, I've never have problem to play video file for any format or size.....
Now, I use Jade. I have try CorePlayer and TCPMP. I cannot play movie files properly. Many format unable to play like .DAT and big size file will play not smoothly....
Any friends could advise me? Thanks...
as far as I know tcpmp is the best availabile player.
I can play files quite well, but I have to note that the bigest one was 200mb (xvid).
cheers,
ratsche
I also can't get TCPMP working on My Jade, its V0.72RC1. It worked fine on my Artimis. Is there a newer version?
When I launch it I get a notice saying: Unexpected program failure. Please send "crash.txt" to the developers. Program will now exit.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Woolly.

I have same problem as you had. TCPMP failed to work on my jade. forget about TCPMP! So far i use Divx player to play .divx and .avi movies.
surprisingly divx player can play full size dvdrip avi movie quite well (lower frame rate, maybe?). I have save the time just to convert the movie to wmv format.
p/s: i checked the movie info which i played on jade with KMplayer:
-Xvid video codec, 970Kbps video bit rate, 640x352, 25 fps, avi format, 1h 17min playtime, 687MB size

you may try Core player, its really great player which plays almost every format
where can i find it and is it for free?
I use youTubePlay, it's free and found on xda-developers. You can also save youtube clips into FLV format as well as MP3.
you-tube play is really awesome but why it doesn't play the flv files i got from my computer? it plays the flv files that it download it only
Look for TCPMP it's similiar media player to CorePlayer, its free, and with a .flv video codec you can play flv video files.
TCPMP could be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=380387
and for the plugin go here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcpmpflvplugin/
Download the plugin and put .plg files to /(or Storage Card)/Program Files/TCPMP/ folder.
Hi
I have searched and RTFW.....but maybe I missed it somewhere.
Looking for a good player that will play FLV's on our device. Have tried youtubeplayer but I find that the timeline bar doesn't work so you can't fast forward through a vid.
Also it doesn't play all the FLV's I have.
Has anyone got any better solutions? I have tried TCPMP player with source forge FLV codec but it keeps crashing out :-(
Thanks and appreciate any help!
was gonna say tcpmp but you nixed that
Can you not convert flv into a nicer format?
I've found FLVs sometimes dont even work on desktop flvplayer for seeking or resizing - and that's down to the FLV file. only way to fix them is to play them through, or rebuild the stream....or convert to another better format.
I just think there are many crappy .flv files out there with lazy web-players.
If you are using a tool like dwhelper then get it to auto-convert on download to a sane format.
No issue for me with this TCPMP version - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634951
Hi guys,
I'm having some problems trying to play the website iphone anime. It streams just fine on the iphone and the encoding is mp4, so that should be ok. I can only download the files and then play it, I cannot stream it. I've been trying to change the default player but I can't seem top do so. Any our ideas?
Just tried with Meridian and get the error message about "streaming to this device", might be a 1.6 issue.
can somebody test this in 2.1

If you have trouble streaming .mp4 files it may be becasue you have uninstalled mediascape. I found that i couldnt stream .mp4 any more after i uninstalled mediascape & MediaPluginManager.apk, one quick reinstallation using adb later and its all working again.
i never touched mediascape so it isnt that. Try websites like this... http://iphoneanime.net, http://mediamp4.com ,http://iphonehentai.com/ and play any of those listed movies. They are all in mp4 format (great sites by the way for movie buffs who love to watch streaming videos)
I never was able to get them working while i was on 1.6 and after 2.1 the default player still says unable to load file. I then tried Vplayer (awesome, get it from the market) and now i am able to stream 50% of the movies on these websites. I think it has to do with the native streaming support of the base player. it just isnt any good......
