I have been given a year old O2 11i PDA . I am living in China -I have a sim card from China Mobile -I have sent them a message to open the GPRS -which is open *put the sim card in another phone"-but have tried to connect and make new network without success I dont know the access point number or what it means by user name password Domain name TCP/IP settings. Please if anyone could help I would be very grateful. The device connects ok through the cradle. I have sent messages to China mobile but no reply and when any replies come back they are just white squares-i presume it doesnt support chinese characters. if any one has any ideas -please use the simple step by step line by line approach as I am a bit old and a simpleton with these things .Thank you

I have jasjar with latest rom from imate.
I have two major problem with my operator: TIM
1. follwing all the instructions about MMS on the TIM website I still get an error, receiving and sending MMS
2. changing the pin, I get "unknown sim error". I tried with two different sim, an old 32kB and a new one 128kB.
Any other italian reader with kaskar and TIM?
thanks
Rosario
Hi, I'm Italian and I get it working.
You need to:
1) set a new connection (I put it in My Work Connection): name timMMS,select a modem:Cellular Line (GPRS,3G),Access Point name: mms.tim.it
2) go to mms configuration (it's in the menu in the messaging centre), and you put the data you can find here: www.i.tim.it/file/0,,774,00.pdf
So server name TIM_mms (or whatsoever), gateway 213.230.130.89, port number 9201, server address http://mms.tim.it/servlets/mms
connect via Work, and IMPORTANT: choose Wap version WAP 1.2, not 2.0 or it doesn't work
Ciao
I configured it in this way too. But no luck, I still get an error after 30 secs sending messages, or retriving it.
Very strange, same sim, same parameters but different phone and everything works great.
I don't understand why in some jasjar they work and in others they don't.
Do you get an error when you try to change the pin code to you sim?
thanks
ciao
anyone of you got the MobileTV working ... which are the RTSP addresses ?
rpingar, I disabled the pin code.
Maybe you should try this (I haven't a clue, but...)
Please pay attention to put it in WAP mode 1.2
and again a little topic:
I didn't install all that Branding-Stuff from the eROM, just the things needed, but now I need the GPRS-Settings, in the eROM, they are packed together with some branded-software, so I'd like to type it in manually.
I saw almost all the things I need to type in, but the password was written in *'s.
Can anybody tell me the things I need to run a GPRS-connection to T-Mobile Germany on my MDAc?
again greets, Nemesis
edit: I also recognized that I can't use the IE when I'm connected to the PC via USB. When I install the T-Mobile Software this works. What do I have to do to make it work?
I have a wallaby with the XDA special edition ROM, and I'm using it with the Telefonica operator in Chile.
I just made the connections settings for the internet settings as the Telefonica company told me:
Cellular Line (GPRS)
APN: web.tmovil.cl
and in the dialing locations tab, under dialing patterns I set up the phone number to be dialed: *99***1# in the "For International calls, dial". (this is the only place where I can set the dialing number)
the user is "web" an password "web"
I believe all is ok, but when I try to make a connection, the phone shows the following message:
Phone:
UNKNOWN APPLICATION ..... Is this message ok?
and after that, it shows a Trouble Connecting message:
"The answering modem has disconnected. Verify the phone number and then try again. To change your... "
Any help?
Thanks a lot
i got that message when i didnt select the GPRS line...but you've done that :?
I'm thinking tha may be the radio version. My device have the 6.18.0 version.
Any ideas????
Unknown Application solved
Finally I solved the problem changing the ROM version in my XDA.
I installed the A.30.09 ENG T-mobile version, with the same settings for Telefonica in Chile and every thing connected OK.
Dear friends of XDA-developers, what do you think about this?
I has to be something with the different systems between Europe and America???
I thought that that was impossible to cross network settings accross other carriers ie o2 over orange internet too but igotta thinking theoretics again an thought back to basics an realized a description change "ityhere" an there "an sum proppa details umite jus be able to piggy back it altho as previously stated iaint rooted an am unable atmo indespite phone comp sayin iusd 170gb data last month neityeedless say my endless searches for knowledge wud continue aslong as i new there is always a way for me to help others or improve possible security loops
Hi guys I have 2 questions,
1: I have a MDA Compact 2 that has customised firmware by my employer, some application automatically install when its first turned on after a reset , I have just bought a second one as a spare, is there a way of cloning the firmware from the first one to the new spare?
2: is there a way of using the MDA as a Modem on my pc? We have web and talk but wool prefer to get internet via my laptop?
thanks
1. What brand are you in? T-mobile German, Czech? Which one?
2. Flash wm6, there is an easy way of sharing the MDA Compact II internet connection for PC.
its T-Mobile UK, i cant risk going to WM6 becuase of the mod's by my employer, it runs custom software.
If its been modified by extended rom only to install custom software/settings etc then you can just use Total Commander and browse to \Extended_Rom\ then copy all the files out of it. then on the other device, skip the original customization by soft reseting when its says its about to start, then install the list of extracted cabs from the business device.
For a bit more involved, you can take all the extracted files, build them into an image and then flash them to the other device overwriting the tmobile stuff so they'll always be on there.
If you pair the laptop with the phone, it should detect the presence of a bluetooth modem (not on AKU 3+ tho) which you can then use on the laptop as a new connection dialling *99#
Hi thanks for the reply, I have followed the instructions from here,
http://www.htcwiki.com/page/Use+my+MDA+as+a+Modem?t=anon
but I am having a problem, when it says select access point name I do have any to chose, it just says none?
Any ideas

I think its general.t-mobile.uk

Many people want to run Internet from the computer to mobile through a Wi-Fi Hotspot
But in some ROMs experience a problem which is that Rom does not support hot spot and other have a problems
But I found the solution
Leafing through the and found one solution
All you have to do is flash the content
And reboot
And you'll find unprecedented networking code (*)
This is the hot spot networks
Note: It will work for all ROMs at least with me ,sure on N1
Tip: make backup
Have not encountered any problems, but at your own risk
sorry for eng i used google translate and edit some lines
i hope its helpful
thx
Before flashing it I was getting this
"obtaining IP address"
After flashin Im getting this
"Scanning"
So the thing is It is not good for me.
i thing ur problem with ur computer ip

or u can try this program
search it on google or any site by the name:
