New version 0.3a is out
Looks nice and simple. Will try it out. How exactly does it work? tap tap a button to go to the next alphabet/character?
no no... tap to select character group and second tap to enter the desired char. So for every char you must tap twice. Looks maybe very slow but give it a try write some test messages and after a while you will improve in write speed

Why do you have to tap first to 'select' a group? Wouldn't it be easier to skip the selection and type an 'a' with a single tap?
Second, Maybe it's a good idea to change the layout to the default layout. ([abc] [def] etc)
But keep up the good work

What might be a good idea is to incorporate a function like to PCMKeyboard http://www.pocketcm.com/index.php
If you tap & hold say the shift key, then a popup with choices appears and you slide over to the choice, that way you keep you same setup and a user only taps once for a letter.
hmm... I can try to make clear TapTap layout. When you want to write on touch-screen with one hand and one finger (thumb) and don't want to concentrate on it (imagine when you are walking the street so you cannot&don't want to concentrate only on your PDA) you need REALLY BIG controls. But when you have big controls you haven't much space for other things like for the program you are writting in. So you want SMALLER keyboard what has BIG controls. And that is exactly what TapTap layout is all about TapTap is also adjusted for all people. You can train your thumb and write very fast but when you don't want or cannot write fast there is no problem TapTapSMS won't rush you. On standart GSM phones you must press button once (perfect state), twice or three times (sometimes even more times) to write desired char and it must be in time limit. In TapTapSMS there is no time limit so you can write how fast you want/can. Of course pressing real buttons is really different than pressing "nothing" on touch-screen. But on PDA you haven't real buttons I mean PDAs without hardware phone keyboard (e.g. Asus P525) or big hardware keyboard like on Vario (BTW "Vario" keyboard is not very comfortable because you must use TWO hands and two fingers).
So I hope you now undrestand
BTW can somebody test it on any slow device (e.g. 200MHz CPU) like Vario? I'm interested if it is usable (fast buttons redrawing) on slow devices. On my A701 it's fast but it has 520MHz CPU...
Thanks, I understand if this is the direction you want your app. to go.
I tried using the PCMKeyboard and it worked fine except it did not increment the character counter.
I get it
Looks Good, I see the idea you're goin' for...prolly wont b the most popular app in the world but looks very usefull for those who are looking for a one hand intuitive sms keyboard. I'll try it out tomorrow n let ya know what i think.

Hi, I'm using a HTC Prophet, overclocked to 221MHz using the stock ROM 2.2, WM5. Your program runs without hitch and without lagging on my device, probably because I'm not used to the interface and am very slow when using it.
I like the idea of big buttons for one thumb use but it seems very slow to use, but then again, I'm still not used to the interface and it could be just me. Another thing is the space button, I'm used to having a space button below the alphabets, like a computer keyboard. To me that is more intuitive.
Just my 2 cents worth.
BTW TapTapSMS is for now oriented mainly for right-hand users so on the right side you have the most used controls: SPACE and BACKSPACE.
Great Job
Works fine on my wizard. WM6 touchflo clocked to 247...send lags slightly, but not much more than usual. Overall its a great app. I agree with the spacebar idea...seems like it should b below alpha. keep up the good work
seems to be a nice idea. just need to be familiar with it. thanks man.
keep up the good work.
The link you posted (http://www.miousers.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=19705#19705) points to a forum which has a secondary link (http://mujweb.cz/www/birkof1/A701/TapTapSMS_nova-alpha.zip) that cannot be connected to. Can you post the file to the xda-develoopers forum instead of some czech server?
I don't know but for me the link is not broken Try searching google Sorry about it
BTW one of the main goals of this program is to reveal programmers that it is possible to make program which can be easily controlled only with your finger (and also with joystick - it's still one-hand controlling) and still is there enough space for other things.
EVERY PROGRAMMER who wants to make FREEWARE program and wants to use this controlling technology is welcome and he/she can FREELY use it and modify it to his/her own needs/ideas (of course it would be nice mention my name in program's credits). And of course there is no need to ask me for any permission... I have done it for the PDAs community FOR FREE
Of course if you wants to use it for commercial product you must contact me for my permission (BTW I have already gave some for now ).
small UPDATE... if you choose bad char group then tap on small "x" above main write buttons.
installed on Himalaya WM6 Aku7, most recent .NET,
MissingMethodException
Can't find Microsoft.WindowsMobiile.Forms
Version 1.0.0.0 Culture=neutral
PublicKeyToken=31xxxxxxxxxxx
or one of its dependencies.
Have seen this with rare other .NET programs, most do work.
hmm... try to delete DLL libraries provided with the program.
your taptapsms download comes as a stand alone .net exe with no dll's. It does start on my PC, .net can be so funny
update, sorry, did something stupid while unzipping, found the dll's still inside the zip.

More information and explaination http://www.pocketcm.com/keyboard.php
What's new in 0.14?
- Autocomplete feature (will propose to complete a word if no other suggestion can be made)
- 2 gesture support: space and backspace (slide left to right, or right to left)
- Internal change in the data structure, should be a lot faster and consume a less memory
- Bug fixes: option dialog, layout association dropped after selecting a skin, ...
- Updated some layout and dictionary
Thanks to all the people that have donated for PocketCM software, and due to the lack of free time, I've decided to remove the time limitation in PocketCM Keyboard, you can now use it for free (personal use), without any restriction in feature or timing. Of course, donations are still appreciated!

Very excellent program!
I forward the comment I made in the Contact Manager thread:
If the keyboard background could be customizable, we can draw the "spacial" keys (\N \M \B) directly onto the background or, even better, we can create separate PNG files (with trasparency) that will be displayed over the corresponding key (so the keys layout will remain fully customizable).

Can not use it - instead of this nice keyboard I have the standard keyboard. I have a russian localized rom and it seems that the probleme is related to that fact

I tried to use with the keyboard but many of our word is with åäö och the keyboard can't "find" the words from T9.
This program has great potential and it is just what i have been looking for, thanks for all your hard work in all your programs, anyways my only problem is that it isn't as quick as i would like it to be, otherwise great software.
All I've got to say is "Bad. . . Ass. . ." lol Great job as usual Tene.

What do you mean, what not fast enough? what kind of device you have?
It runs decently on my 200Mhz device.
If it's the time to suggest that seems to long, you can reduce the dictionnary size, the current one has 21887 words, you can probably get better result with let say 2000 words, I'm sure you don't use stupendous, pasteurization and extemporaneous that often
Tene: next version needs disabling the word suggestion. I cant use it since its replacing the polish text to english.

Ya i think that must be it thanks for da quick reply
its a bit faster when i delete the french dictionary and stuff, but maybe in future releases you could have an option to completely turn off the suggestion bar, just an idea
How do you edit the dictionary?.
Edit. Nevermind, I'm a tool.
can you add a delay time on the letter pop up? like 1 sec?
I love this but I have to agree about killing the word suggestion. I tried to type the name Lisa and it kept changing it to kiss, it was really annoying.

great apps, tene. been trying to find something where i can use a finger. t9 takes half the screen and is not ideal. just need some nice skin to go along with it.
*bows down to the developer*...One major grudge for me (with WM) has been the SIP, have tried lots of them but liked none..fancied an iPhone just for the SIP part (rest is crap for me), and now its here...lemme try and and then ill give u the feedback...
when typing SMS in PocketCM, the PCMKeyboard suggestion box blocks the view of the message i am typing.
I would suggest that the suggestion box be setup horizontally and be part of the keyboard. This will avoid this issue. Liked the scrolling in the suggestion box, horizontal scrolling will be nice!
just my wish list!
Great job on this app! However, is there any way for a 3rd party SIP to parse the built in dictionary? Oh yeah, and allow us to disable the word suggestion.
Hello, sorry for the incorrect English, but I'm Italian.
I have a proposal for a program for pda-phone, which I think could be very useful to write sms without qwerty or keypad.

Is it possible create a program that combines to every direction of the directional pad (usually 8 directions) under the screen, the same function of numbers of mobile keyboards to write with t9??? For example, at direction "up" the letters "abc", at "up-right" the letters "def", at "right letters" the letters "mno" and so on. Then associate to the "central button", the function of 5 (letters "jkl")...
i know that write sms with a small pad isn't simple, but could be easier than with a virtual keyboard on the touchscreen...
Sorry for my bad expression, I hope that I was quite clear and that you can create this program, which does not seem to be complicated ...
Hello and thank
I'd be interested to play around with something like that, it would be great for one handed texting once you memorize which direction contains which letters (might take a while to get fast enough to do it without really thinking), being unable to shoot off a one handed text is probably the only thing i miss about my old phones. (moto Q was amazing for this)

Middle = JKL
I copied the layout out of a normal phone keypad. I think that all pocket pc's support diagonal pushes.
Although i think, that it should be possible i doubt, that it would be very comfortable to write a text like that. The Navigate Key is very small, and even if it supports diagonal pushes, it would be most likely, that u'll push the wrong direction very often.
IMHO it would make more sense to use the normal phone dialpad as input. that would give u the opportunity to write onehanded, and it is the inputform we are all used to from phones before. If something like T9 could be intigrated it would be one of the best input forms.

I actually did thought of that. That can be solved pretty much by adding the (iphone keyboard like) "typing register after you lift the finger, not when you push" - method.
Of course this wouldn't be very fun without something like t9 and somekind of Onscreen layout + indicator.
Certainly you are right to say that it is not very comfortable, but can be very useful to write in poor light without watching the screen .... In my opinion it could be useful...logically having 8 directions ... .
Sorry I didn't understand very well the last things you wrote, but with the reference to iphone, you are talking about writing with the keypad or touchscreen?
However, who can i ask to create this program???
Thanks for your interest...
what if it wasn't based on going from the center of the screen... but instead the gesture could be made anywhere, and the gesture only had to be like an inch big, and could be continuous. You could in theory right using up down left right and diagonal strokes, and a stroke could begin where the last one left off. I think with practice this could be a very usable solution.

and up/down is fast move in the list.
excuse me, i'm not practical with the English, and i and I couldn't understand what you wanted to say....
however nobody knows a man who can create a program like that???
Excuse me if I may seem irritating, but if it is possible and simple (as you have said) create this program, who should I go to ask for it?
But is this the right section???
up....someone can help me???
Sorry, maybe I'm asking too much, but I do not understand why no one responds to me or give me an answer ... that is, I was told that it should not be difficult to create this program .... why nobody wants to do that? Me it seems useful ....
And there are developers in a position to do so?
I would be very grateful ....
up....please answer me....
I wanted to do this for my Asus P535. I got 9 buttons in front (not including the red and green) and the record button could have been 0.
To do this right, there are 2 ways:
u need a software that reprograms buttons depending on the current running program. These buttons r not normally programmable but AE Button Plus can catch them all. It can't however change their actions depending on the program. Vito Button Mapper 4 can program buttons depending on the program running, but it can only program buttons that are in the normal button settings. I tried using them together (AEB can assign virtual buttons on the button settings as actions for the buttons u can't normally configure) but that didn't work and in most cases would be too much for your phone to handle.
The other option is to create a dialer/txt program that when on top would catch the buttons to do what you wish. I never got around doing that since I don't have time. You can ask someone who already made a dialer/txt to add that function.
It would very cool if this feature would have been added to PocketCM Contacts. That’s the program I use to txt msg and dial. I might ask the creator if he can implement it.
It's exactly what I try to find... I admit that I didn't understand everything you said(I'm Italian), but for me the best thing is the second proposal .... ideal, would ask to a programmatore of those programs, to implement the function we are thinking about...... if you can to ask to the programmator that, i would be very greatful if you explain me the answer.....

I have the same problem. I tried and on my qtek 8500 without touchscreen and works pretty good. But need some config with the buttons.
And here is the greek language, just erase the doc extention:
Very useful application.
The only drawback is that it takes too long to load. Will this be improved in further releases?
Thanks,

Another thing I have noticed is that even though I have created ANSI fonts using fonts.bat and put them all in the corresponding FONTS folder, I still do not get the accented letters in Spanish. For example:
Where it should say "Fotógrafo" y get "Fotygrafo", instead of ""Mecánico" it shows "Mec6nico", etc.
Fran
Tested on HTC P4350 Herald with stock WM6 unbranded.
The purpose of this is to have the handheld tell me what time it is in the way I choose.
I first made a mortscript to do that (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2450016&postcount=659), but I wanted it to have the dignity of a stand-alone app (I have nothing against mortscripts though, they're brilliant). Since my experience with developing for windows, and even more so developing for windows mobile, == NULL, I looked (once again) for ways to get all set up and learn very quickly.
After being reminded for the nth time (it's an every-six-months or so process, recursive) that no, you don't infact learn c++ quickly, even less some newish language you've never seen before, I stumbled onto PPL, what I would think of as a script interpreter with a fairly easy to use IDE.
The result of my few hours of fighting with PPL is attached below for the joy of all children and elderly people.
Installation:
Place the contents of the zip in a folder wherever you like on the device, then link buttons or shortcuts at leisure to vasquez.exe.
Settings:
The file setup.exe modifies the few settings for the app.
Actor - which sounds set to use (only default available for now);
Format - hh mm only for now, to be joined by "o'clock", "and a half", "quarter to" and so on;
AM/PM - use am/pm or not where appropriate;
12/24 - use a 12 or 24 hours cycle.
Note that using 24 hours the AM/PM setting is ignored.
Bottom Line:
PPL, while easy to use and learn, has its downs:
1) an app that would have taken a few kbs requires instead more than 2mb, because of having to pack the interpreter together with the code (only to be expected really);
2) it takes a while to run the app (each exe being ~1.2mb) and it feels oddly wrong having to wait a few seconds for such a settings menu to appear (you'll see what I mean if you try).
It is my intention to develop this further, although I'd much prefer to rewrite it "properly" using Cwhateversappropriate or .NET or dunnowhat.
But first I'll have to find someone to tutor me through the setting up stage because I always stop before even starting. (Anyone ? Hih, hih. )
Thanks for bearing with my rambling.

nice little app.
comments:
- maybe you could recode your checkbox' so that when AM/PM is selected, the 24Hr checkbox will automatically be unchecked, and vice versa.
- the wav file's volume are a bit low
using a lang interpretator or managed framework would always have its cost and overheads.
I always prefer to build utility using native Win32 instead of .NET for the same reason, especially if I am interested just to get the job done and need to keep it lean and mean...

What's the deal with the various Visual Thisandthat ? Do they work like this (with all the understandable differences) or are they as lean and mean as any notepad-made C++ ?
great app i use it avery day. Is there any plans to update it? could you plz add the feature to use a diferent wav file for sayin 1hr and 1min, cause I made spanish sounds for your app but when it says One One AM, in spanish should be Una Uno AM, but there is only a file for the 1.
very cool clock...did not know this even excisted. Nice work!
thanks for this,
however the sounds are very quiet so when i get home tonight ill amplify the sounds and see what they sound like.
if they sound good ill uplaod the amplified sounds for you if you dont mind?

I have done some playing and here are three level of sounds:
quiet is just normal if you want to use original sounds
medium is amplified by 400%
Loud is amplified by 800%
anymore and distortion was really noticeable. Just extract the files and replace default sounds with the sounds from the folder you wish.

Just copy a shortcut to your \Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder and through Settings - System - Keys link it to a hardkey
speaking clock not working
found out what I did wrong!
Thank you very much!
I am a visually impaired user of Windows Mobile, this program is great, no more getting my reading glasses to see the time. I dedicated a button to use this program on my phone. I finished some new voices both male and female.
Here is the download link ----->

It is time to update the really good app a little bit?
I have read some issues here. So about this, my question..
excellent application, exactly what i was looking for
Nice
Plz built it that way,at every hour it speaks automatically....Thank you..
I needed such application because when i ride a bike or something, then i could use my earphone (just push the call button, say the name of the application to launch it....as you say the name to call someone, same thing) to listen to the time without having everytime to take my phone out of the pocket.
It doesn't work....because everytime i click on the .exe, windows asks me 'are you sure you want to run this application?' that's because it's an unknown .exe....sure you know what i'm talking about.
So the thing with the earphone and the vocal command wouldn't work because i would always have to click on 'yes' after that safety warning. How can i remove that warning ?

Disable "not signed" warnings for unsigned apps

some screenshots...
Hi thanks for sharing!!!
It looks promising but is it possible to get some screen shots because even on the website i can't see some
Indeed, it'd be nice to see some screenshots.
I won't install it before I can see first what it looks like and if the features look promising.
a way to send SMS eith O3touch

Interesting but doesn't seem to take advantage of finger scrolling. Promising though!
I´m testing it in a Mio A701 and works fast and fine. Really it seems very promising. I´ve done some actions (phone, sms, email) and i like me. I can access to all functions faster, quickly. Weekend of full test..
Good work!
Frank
Looks good, I shall try it out for a few days, see if I get used to it for sms
I looked at the youtube vid.... i'm quite surprised... i can write this sms about 3 times faster with the default phone keyboard and T9!
Ciao

y the youtube is truly slow, not the o3... , and it is not all about writing sms.
I think this would be awesome with that slide keyboard method, know the one I'm talking about? where you just slide from 4 > 3 > 5 > 6 and it spits out 'hello'.
SMS doen't works on my glofiish X600 with wm6.1
No matter what option I change every time loads the default messaging application

Yes I've seen that a while ago. Can't remember the name of it but it looked nice.
This looks very promissing. Hope to see it more in action before Itry to use it.
Oh, know I remember, it was that Swype keyboard from that T9 developper!
Welcome Addition.
Gave it a try tonight, makes calling and searching easier, still prefer PocketCM for smsing. Good addition to phone, will continue to use and try more of the features.
Thanks for posting.
With the dual language thing - I'd be very interested if it ever reaches the point of supporting Korean characters for input.
Finding a working Korean IME that doesn't **** the hardware keyboard on the dual seems impossible
this looks interesting, and very well thought-out, but maybe a bit overly complicated? the first screenshot seems like a bit much crammed into one screen to me...
great start though! This definitely seems like something I'd use in a later release
how do dial * and # ? i can't seem to find them on the dialpad?
Letters keybord > Long press on "Fast dial / *", it will also toggle the keybord to number.
This is a different concept
for managing your contacts and all contacts-related interaction.
All operations regarding contacts can be accessed via a single control panel: look up contacts, sms them, phone them, save to address book new contacts (as per reived calls), etc.
The app is highly configurable, takes virtually no memory, can be assigned to a soft key (that is what I've done) or set as a Start menu item.
The developer is possibly the most responsive I've met. Any issues are promptly resolved and incorporated into the next version.
This app has quickly evolved, from a highly functional initial version, to a VERY higly functional current version.
I like it!
I downloaded and installed o3touch on my E-TEN M700.
While running, the speaker makes some silent cracking sound after each second or two.
Having the large keys for input is nice, but need to wait for the third letter to be used is terrible and slows down writing. Using my hardware querty is much faster. You should implement T9-Feature instead!
The layout seems quite easy and efficient but the look ist not very nice. Seems as the app was written 10 years ago.
I would like to have avatars on contact list.
