So after installing the WM6 ROM Core 2.0 and using it for a while i started to get this white screen, after using it for about a month, that would keep on appearing if unless i had the keyboard slightly slid out. So i decided to switch to Faria's Pro ROM Kitchen hoping it would fix it, but it didn't. This white screen that keeps popping up covers the entire screen and nothing i do seems to make it stop. This screen is really annoying especially when trying to watch movies and when coming out of wakeup and receiving phone calls, as it covers the whole screen not allowing me to see. Is there a way to fix this so this white screen does not keep coming up. I would really appreciate the Help.
What do you mean exactly by "white screen coming up" ???
Does your screen turn blanc or is there a window popping up?
If you can do the following without having too much trouble with backing up and stuff like that: install you shipped ROM for a while and see if it still appears!
Other than that I guess there is a hardware problem!
Well its a blank screen that covers up the whole screen its not like a window the whole screen just turns white. I did install the T-Mobile 2.26 ROM when i switched to Faria's WM6 ROM, but it still was there for the short time i had it.
Do you have your phone passworded? That causes a white screen to come up just after you wake your phone if you don't have it set to ask for the password upon wakeup. It usually goes away after about half a second but maybe yours is sticking there for some reason. Try turning off your password and see if that fixes it. You may not want to keep your phone without password protection but at least you'll know whats causing the white screen. You might also try changing the "prompt if device unused for" to a longer duration and see if that maybe helps.
well i dont have a password set, so i dont think it is the password, the thing is that it doesnt only come up after wakeup, if the device does not have the keyboard slid out slightly it will come up just after about 40 secs. Sometimes it comes up right in the middle of me doing something like changing some options. If i have the keyboard slid out all the way it will do the same thing. It only does not come up if the first rows of keys at the bottom of the keyboard are visible. Has this happened to anyone else? is there a way to fix this?
Someone help PLEASE.
Sounds like your phone is undecided whether it wants to go into portrait or landscape mode..
What do you mean? if my phone has the keyboard closed then after about 20-40 secs the entire screen will turn white, then when i slide the keyboard out just slightly the screen goes away, and as long as i have the keyboard slightly slid out the screen wont turn white. I am thinking of sending my MDA in to get a Wing, does anyone know if i am allowed to do this since my MDA is acting werid?

I dropped my phone and the screen now doesnt respond properly: The hardware DID successfully upgrade to the XDA ROM. But touching it causes the backlight to go on, - but most of the keys dont do what one would expect them to do: The phone turns on with a reminder from the calendar on the screen which wont DISMISS or CLOSE. Pressing on the windows logo and then on the phone key causes the calendar to come up and I am not sure which numbers are entered when I do manage to get the phone to come onto the screen (none of the right hand numbers seem to work at all). Does anyone recognise these symptoms and/or could they just show that my SX-56 needs the ROM RE-flashing? I should add that pressing the Master Reset button with this ROM in place seems to make the phone shut off and then when you restart it, all of the data remains in place. I wonder if there is any possibility that the XDA ROM has prevented the reset button from working normally?
A user on another forum said that to him, '"Sounds like the digitiser is up the swanee - have you tried recalibrating it?"
10-12 vertical black lines started appearing to the right hand edge of the screen. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not. THere is usually at last one there somewhere. At about that time the screen stopped responding as I mention. Today the left third started displaying the same veritcal lines, though spaced quite far apart (about a millimetre). Screen doesn't APPEAR cracked: Does this sound like a digitiser and if so, how do you recalibrate it please or is there a link to somewhere on the XDA site which I cant find which might tell me? Or could it be the cable is loose in the circuit board? As you touch the lower right hand corner of the metal casing where the vertical lines are, those lines flash (the right 10 or 12) on and off. And every coloured bar everywhere on the screen or word of text has vertical lines on it (the white parts don't)??
Someone on ebay has said that his phone "fell from my pocket and onto the carpet and the screen cracked, I then used it for about a week" "I sold the screen to someone cause the wanted the touch pad part of the screen for there phone". and wonder what it was he sold or which part can be replaced on it? IS there a touch part and a screen part on this phone?
To be honest, itsounds like you have brocken a connection somewhere between the LCD and the gfx output, probably not possible to repair yourself.
I wonder where the break would be?
I thought that might be the case: I wonder if it would be worthwhile trying to get another screen?
I should probably try to take the unit apart and see if some break somewhere can be identified if it is a break as opposed to some electonic part having failed. It SEEMS to be in the lower right hand corner?
Hello, My G1 has just suffered a problem, i was scrolling down a web page and the screen faded out like it had lost power but the backlight was still on, the keys lit up and it still could make the trackball clicking noise when you moved it. I took out the battery and left it for 5 minutes and rebooted my phone and the screen turned on for about 3 seconds and faded out like before but it did boot into android as I heard the notification/startup sound. I think that the screen has burnt out but im not shore so has anybody had this problem before and/or might know how to fix it
Just some more infomation, If the screen dies and I leave it for a few minutes, when I unlock it or slide the screen up, the screen works for a few seconds but then fades. Also the fading looks like the screen lost power or like its losing pixels
From my experience with phone hardware this doesnt look like screen problem, but rather the lamp driver in the motherboard. the only way to narrow down is test the motherboard /screen with another phone.
If this is the case, it might require servicing the backlight driving circuit, which by far requries soldering/desoldering some components in motherboard.

had the same problem its a hardware issue. tmobile sent me a new phone no questions asked
Thanks for the replies, it seems that it has fixed its self as I've been using it for about 5 hours and no problems so far, I'm using it right now to type this, if the problem persists I will try and fix it or just buy a new one
My screen ocasionally shakes and turns half white and half with black stripes on a white background, it recoveres after i put it in standby.
I am pretty sure it is a hardware problem because if i press the phone (i press the top part against the qwerty keyboard part) the shaking goes off but the screen still turns white. I have sean a video on youtube on how to fix this but i don;t know how true it is and i don;t belive that is the solution. back home i have a spare motherboard... but home is farrrr away so i am looking for another solution.
I changed the rom thinking that was causing it but it was not. i am thinking about overclocking the cpu , maybe that will help ( you can see that i am desperate )
I hope you can come up with a solution.
thank you for taking your time to read my post.
since i did the trick presented on youtube i don;t have that screen shaking problem.. this is 1st day , i will come back after a week and tell you if it really works
I'm not sure if I'm describing this correctly in the title so let me try and elaborate -
I've used probably 10-15 different ROMs for my Nexus 10 and lately every single one I try, I have the same issue when I have the screen titled down horizontally towards me while reading in bed ( think holding it up while lying on my back, angled down at me so I can read ), where the screen blacks out/goes to sleep.
Then I have to tilt it back so it's vertical again and sometimes it puts me at the lock screen but more often I have to hit the power button to get the lock screen back, infuriatingly I then sometimes get stuck in a loop of hitting power to get to lock screen as it's going back to lock screen so then it kills the display again so then I have to hit power again etc etc. Once the screen is back and displaying everything is fine until some random amount of time ( between 5 seconds & 5 minutes ) when the screen just goes black again - presumably when I move/adjust my position or the angle of the screen.
Anyway - I believe this is version independent, I don't think it's the ROMs, it's like it's something built-in to the OS.
The only thing I can figure is it's either related to the accelerometer detecting that I'm tilting the tablet horizontally so the screen is facing down and thus it is killing the display, OR it's the light sensor detecting a darkening of the light since I would be angling the screen away from a direct light source and so it kills the screen thinking I'm placing it face down on a table.
Possibly related - I've also noticed since 4.2.2 ( maybe coincidence ) that I can't rotate my screen 180 degrees and be able to unlock the device. No matter what, if I flip that sucker around it instantly kills the display and locks the screen. I've got auto-rotate on, so I know that's not the issue, and if I hit the power button to get the lock screen up, then unlock it INSTANTLY locks again and kills the screen. It's like there's a setting now that says I CAN rotate if I want to but there's no point because I can't actually unlock the screen to do anything. Keep in mind this ONLY happens when flipping it 180 - if it do it 90 or 270 and have it vertical there is no issue, it is literally only when it is flipped 180 that this occurs.
Am I over thinking this or is there something really, really obvious I'm missing? I've gone over every setting I can think of and the only thing remotely screen related is the sleep timer but it doesn't matter how long I make it or if I even turn it off entirely - every time I get into bed to read I have to mash the power button to get the screen going again. It's minor in the grand scheme of things but it is incredibly frustrating when all I want to do is read before going to sleep, just stay open damn it !
I hate to shameless bump this but does anyone know what I'm talking about? If I tilt my N10 past a certain degree ( I want to say it's around 30 degrees or so ) the screen just goes to sleep, how do I stop this? I've used a ton of different ROMs so it seems to be something consistent and/or a fundamental "feature" of JellyBean and/or Android in general.

If nothing else, I would say it rather "seems" to be a hardware issue, because I've never seen this behavior on my own device. That said, I can't say I've heard of many people talking about this either.

Thanks for replying! Good point - I've just assumed it wasn't something specific to MY N10 because I can't imagine why it would happen from a hardware perspective since it's never been damaged ( dropped, scuffed ) in any way. Unless I just got a bad egg with a faulty accelerometer or light sensor or something, which is also possible.
I suppose if no one else is experiencing this and it's isolated to me and is ROM independent than it must be hardware. Either that or when I'm laying in bed I generate large bursts of electromagnetic activity that cause it to think I've closed the "smart" cover. :cyclops:
Screen Timeout
I don't know if any of this matters, but I am just curious.
What is your Screen Timeout setting? Have you tried increasing this? Do you have it set to lock screen upon pressing the power button? Have you tried changing it? Do you use a pattern lock, pin code, other?

My screen timeout is set to 10 minutes, though it doesn't seem to matter what I set it to - I just set it to 30 and the same thing happens after a second of tilting it.
I have screen lock via slide, but while I do lock/kill the screen via pressing the power button I just realized I've never actually set it to do this. I guess I thought it was a built-in feature - I've just gone through all the settings I have ( currently using FlamingMonkey AOSP ROM for reference ) and I don't see any option anywhere to enable/disable this feature. :S
Maybe there is an issue with my power button and when I tilt the tablet it jiggles it enough that it "presses" down and locks?
Use ultimate rotation control from store and force the lockscreen to landscape at all times.

I think that you are on the right track. The option to lock the screen on hitting the power button is under the Security settings for stock android. It should be there for your ROM too.
I constantly hit my power button when sitting it down or picking it up. That is why I disable the instant lock option.
I've been using the Sharp Aquos Crystal for a few days now and loving it mostly, however occasionally when I have a particular grip on the phone the touch screen stops working and I get a popup that says something like "The touch panel has been locked due to a lack of response .... Move your hand or thing away from ..." The popup disappears very quickly so I haven't been able to get the full text written down or a picture snapped, but I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this and had figured out what it meant.
when u turn on the brightkeep function, the message will pop up while u try to opreating your phone when it on a flat surface. either turn the function off or hold your phone by your hand when opreating will fix it. I am new here. and i got a softbank 305sh. hope this will be helpful.
I think it is caused by the tiny censor at the right bottom side .
Maybe you turn on "Sweep ON" function? if you turn it off, it won't show up but since this device got a power button on some place, hard to push, so I can't turn it off..
the best way, operate your phone with the left hand
When this happens to me, I point the little sensor up or at a light source for a second and that seems to work every time.
The message:" Touch Panel is locked due to the response of sensor on lower right of screen. Move your hand or thing away". This happens a lot and no matter what I turn on or off doesn't stop it. I send an email to Sharp and their response was that my phone needs to be serviced. I called Boost Mobile and the guy was giving me a hard time so I can either ship it away and hope they don't damage my phone too much or live with it but it happens more times than not and usually when I'm sending a text or email.
Happens a lot on mine as well especially if I wear long sleeve or using it on a blanket.that message just show up whenever the lower right of the phone touch the cloth. hand is not at much as a problem.
