I've read the Wiki and still can't find it. How do I install themes on my Wizard?
copy the .tsk files into your windows directory.
you mean .tsk?
Copy them to /my documents, and go to /start menu/settings/today, then choose your theme.
I kept getting a message about disc being write protected. Remove protection or use another disc. Any idea what that means? Also do I save them to the phone or to memory card?

Anybody got anything on this?
I said save it to \windows which obviously is on your phone not on the mem card. As for that "write protected" stuff i don't know what to think of it man.
open "my computer", double click on "my mobile device", navigate to windows, copy/paste your themes to windows directory and they will appear in the today theme menu. if you still don't undersatnd then i give up./
You can copy the theme files also to SD card either directly in the main SD card folder or in a folder which does not go deeper than 1 level (meaning: Storage card\Themes\ ) This keeps your precious internal memory free for other things!
I UNDERSTAND what you said and that is what I did. That message is what I got when I did that. I tried it on the phone and the card. Thanks anyway though. Themes are overrated anyway I'm not stopping till I brick this thing!!!!!!
If you copy them on to your SD card, don't put them in any file on there. Put them straight on to "\storage card". The question I have is are you getting the write protected error on your phone or on your computer and if you're getting that error on your computer end can you copy any other files over to your storage card? I was thinking that maybe you accidentally write protected your storage card.

Doesn't seem like I can install a *.cab file to storage card, when I open it, it will install automatically into main memory\program files
Anyone know how to do this?

Use Cabinst to manage your CAB installations.

regestry change
whit a simple regestry change , it will ask you where to install it: folder,drive....
even if you do an istallation from active sync
And what is this simple registry change ?
Do tell .... don't keep it a secret
what is this change?
ok here it is:
Edit the regestry on the PPC:
\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\Microsoft Aplication Installer\
set fAskDest to "1"
if you like
Create the "Pogram Files" folder on the SD card on the root folder,
make sure that you have the ignore_my_docs file in the root driveof the SD card.
I install most of my program on the SD card.
hi alexk,
i m using mini O2. how do go to the registry by the way?
and all the programs can run from the SD card?
Pls advise..
thanks..
Cheers
 Chivas
I use Resco Explorer to edit my registry,
it includes the Resco Registry Editor ^^
alexk > Thanks for this tweak
chivas > If you want a freeware use this one PHM Registry Editor
Most programs can be run from SD card except Today Plugins
What is the benefit of running CAB's from our SD card? In otherwords, I don't have the foggiest clue what happens to a CAB once you run it apart from it installing the program etc.
A cab file is a way to install a progam.
So you can install this program wherever you want.
The benefit to install it on a SD Card is to liberate some RAM
Thanks for that
Why is this forum sooooooo sloooooow

Hi Alex, thanks for the tweak. But what do you mean by those meantioned above ? Are you saying that we can create a "Program Files" folder in SD card and install our program into it? What do you mean by root folder? Do I need to create a note pad file named as ignore_my_docs?

Calvin,
Root folder refers to the highest folder of the drive, the one where all the sub-folders reside... ie on your PC C:\
Be very carefull editing the registry, not recomended for a novice as one wrong move can leave you with a lot of trouble
Thanks for the info. I think there's nothing to do with registry in these tweak rite? For what I know from others forumer, the Ignore_my_documents file is inside the main memory. It serves the purpose whereby the ppc will ignore the "My Documents" inside the Sd card (if you created one) and only use the "My Documents" inside the main memory.
Same said they have deleted the Ignore_my_documents file in the main memory and therefore they can saved their files (themes and etc) into "My Documents" inside the Sd card in order to save some RAM.
My question is, do we need to create Ignore_my_documents file into Sd card if we are going to do so?
Is it me, or can this forum be a bit hard to search? (using "" or AND doesn't work??) I KNOW I've seen more than one topic on this but I cant find it for the life of me and I'm not getting refined results.
Just encountered that problem where the Wizard suddenly makes a new Storage Card folder and renames the original one "Storage Card2". The new folder has 2 folders to hold mail attachments and a folder for PIE History.
I can see and use all for the files on the Storage Card2 (all of my movies and music and what not) but the associated programs are now looking for them in the new Storage Card folder.
How can I revert this? I can't delete the new and rename the original with the device docked. Getting sharing violation errors..
Anyone have this problem?
Thanks in advance!
Ok so I fixed it....
I took out my SD card.
From File Explorer on the device, I was able to rename the "Storage Card" that was on the Device to "Old". If you now try to delete it, you'll still get a cannot delete Index error.
I did a soft reset and was then able to delete the "Old" folder. I got "system fil" warnings, but it allowed me to delete the whole folder.
I then inserted my SD card, which immediately showed up as "Storage Card", the way it's supposed to.
My programs are now looking for their files on "Storage Card" and finding them there.
If anyone knows why this happens, feel free to pitch in....
I found that this occurred with me if I did any hacks to put internet explorer temp files, Omega One's Journal Bar files or email attachments to the storage card. I expect is was one of the first two that does it on start up and it was rather upsetting at first until you firgure out what to do about it. I've since unapplied those hacks and it hasn't happened again.

Maybe a weird question, but is it possible for me to add my own sounds to the list of sounds for alarm sounds etc? Its not a ringtone and cant find a folder in windows that will allow me to do it.
Yes -- you can do it. Just drop them into the root of the Windows directory. I believe they have to be .wav format in order for them to show up to use in the Sounds & Notifications menu.

Or on the storage card if you create a folder named "My Documents" But be sure that the folder is on the root of the MiniSD card.
I prefer this because it doesn't use your phone memory.

the problem is i have "some pictures" on the phone that need to be removed but not deleted, how can i put them on the SD card or straight to the computer???

Use Astro File Manager, or better yet Root Explorer if you're rooted. My Files is extremely basic.
Downloaded astro. Found the files but feel stupid because it ended up being in dcim on the sd card. Thank you very much for your help.
There's just one more issue,i tried copying a file from the sd card into the font folder of the phone but it wouldn't let me.any idea why?

You need root access to do that, and Root Explorer, because RE uses Superuser and Astro does not.
ANdroid 6.0.1 S7Edge
Geezuz....this shouldnt require a post to figure out, but.....
Because my good ol' KeepassDroid password app cannot write to a database file on the SD, I must move/copy the database file FROM the sd TO the internal phone storage when I get a new phone..
I plug the phone into the PC.
On the phone I drag down to notifications, select the USB Charging notification, change to "File Transfer"
Now the PC can see CARD and PHONE
I copy the file from the CARD to the PHONE
Disconnect.
On the phone I open my KeepassDroid app, navigate to tell it where the new database file is, and......
....wait for it.....
It shows up ON THE SD CARD
In anticipation of some of your well-meaning responses let me assure you that:
- I'm POSITIVE I'm looking at the file I JUST COPIED to PHONE and not the original file from SD ( I even renamed it in the PHONE location to ensure I wasnt screwin' the pooch there)
-I DO NOT want to get a NEW app because I don't want to re-enter dozens/hundreds of entries.
Its almost as thought Android 6.0.1 is allocating CARD space as "internal storage" space to "help" us stupid phone-users along (to which I say "stop helping")
Any sage advice?
