Hi, I recently bought a Wizard and I was wondering if Media Center inspired (eighter xp or vista) Interface was ever made fo Windows Mobile. I saw a portable media center, and although the device wasn't great, I liked the resemblance to the actual computer interface. Those things were running on Windows CE too right? And what about the Zune interface? Has it ever been attempted?
I thank everyone willing to help
Thanx LucaS

Vista SideShow would be nice
What I am REALLY interested in is Vista SideShow running on windows mobile... M$ has such a huge opportunity here with SideShow, and they are not capitalizing on it. If someone were to release a SideShow driver that works on windows mobile, I would immediately pay $50 for it. Imagine being able to access Vista gadgets and Media center info through a pretty interface right on your phone! I'm getting all excited
Over the net is floating video of software which allows you tu run vista sidebar gadgets, but it never left microsoft labs (the video was with WM5 device), about sideshow i think microsoft will provide proper solution but you have to wait
Thanx
Thanks a lot anothersmith! That's actually the sort of thing I was looking...i just wish the interface was a little better looking ... I guess there will be improved versions in the future...but still, thank you so much for the help!
Anyone installed this (http://www.pocketpt.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=15512)? is it any good and does it let you watch tv?
you can whatch it only over internet, so it depends on your speed

Jk published in his weblog an article about the problem that maybe the new Windows Media Player 10 and the new "playsforsure" Features will never be available for actual Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket-PCs... thats a thing i am also worried about these days - because why the hell did i spent more than €600 for a device, with more than adequate memory capacity for all types of media, when it does not integrate in the existing "Media-World" that is drawn by available and upcoming Microsoft Products. Well have a look at the portable MediaCenter Devices... neat and really cool gadgets - a must have - you can sync them with your home pc´s - can have the movies from your home´s MediaCenter on your portable MediaCenter, you can buy content from Microsoft Content-providing Partners... okay thats cool isn´t it. - But infact - i got that nifty "all-in-one device suitable for every purpose" called Pocket PC.... - Iam watching high-quality-mpeg4 movies on my PocketPCs for months... i listen to my mp3´s, ogg´s, aac´s and whatsoever... but those cool integration-feeling doesn´t come up with my PocketPC... and the Windows Media Player 10 for Windows Mobile would help that a bit - but what would sort things out: to have the same integration and Features that are available for other, compared to the Pocket PC dumb, devices....
And thats why I started the "MTP-over-IP" Project. Because MTP ist the Protocol all this cool devices use to communicate with the Applications... (there are some more like auto-discovery and so on...but first things first)... a working Implementation of MTP would make it possible that the Windows Media Player 10 on the PC could recognize the Pocket PC as a Media Device, as a Smart Device that it is...
So. Due to quite heavy workload I have the moment I cannot do such a project alone - so I would like to ask everyone that is interested and capable of helping me with this project in doing so.
At the moment the first lines of code are already written - i started the MTP Library in C# based on the .NET Framework at the Moment - the Goal is to get the MTP Protocol working, on the .NET Framework and on the .NET Compact Framework...
I published the first lines of code some days ago... you can grab it here(sorry that the blog-article is mainly in german...)
a "playsforsure"-Teaser for Windows Mobile 2003 can be viewed here.
So.. give me a line if you would like to help or you just have an oppinion about the subject.
sourcecode package update
iam already searching for developers that would like to get into this project....

It's actually quite quick once you get it going
Just a shame its only a qvga screen really - not much point to it.

There is no windows vista for any pocketpc, this is remote desktop mobile app whic is connected over wifi or other network to a vista pc
so you can not get it from anywhere because it simply does not exist
"do you know, where can I get it??? pls"
you already have it it's called therminal services

The CPU of that device is an actual x86 device, the same as is in your PC. It's basically an ultra-small laptop. Meanwhile your phone has an ARM RISC chipset which is totally incompatible with Windows PC editions.
Nice scam
Hehe, nice to see, "Lokaal Station (C" in Dutch has got 18,5 GB free on his phone.. lol, would like to have that
(Local Disk (C)

It is called xpphone (not too original on the name if you ask me), but it isn't from HP (at least not the one I saw)
Hi,
I've noticed that several posters on this forum have replaced Vista Business on their Shifts with Vista Ultimate.
I was just wondering why? In my opinion, what is "missing" from Vista Business (e.g. Media Centre), isn't really suitable for a device like the Shift anyway, so I was just curious as to why you would want to do this?
Regards,
Dave

I agree...i would rather go for XP and get some more resources.
I must admit, whilst I have no objection to Vista per se, it really does need 2GB memory to shine. So, for the Shift, if there was an easy downgrade where literally everything worked ok, I would do it in a heartbeat.
That being said, for my purposes, Vista Business is ok, so I really want to know why some want to upgrade to Ultimate.
For the record, my *primary* machine, is running 64-bit Vista Ultimate Edition, and my secondary is running 32-bit Vista Ultimate, but to be honest I could live with Business on both.

Dave
Good morning!
I was curious if anyone is aware of any remote administration software that I could use to admin my Windows Vista Home Premium machine FROM my mobile phone?
Apparently in all of MS's wisdom they have felt the need to strip the remote control software from all versions of Vista excluding Business, and Ultimate. There is afew hacks floating around to enable the remote access services but since the SP1 release this has further disabled the functionality and have not found much information as to restoring it.
Basically I am curious is anyone is aware of any thirdparty software that I could purchase that is A) WIndows Vista compatible. B) Has a Windows Mobile Client
Or if anyone is aware of a new method to activate the remote admin service on Windows Vista Home Premium WITH Service Pack 1 then I would also be interested in this as well. As it would save some money hehe and of course allow me to utilize the RDC application already loaded on my HTC.
PS. I love you whoever recommended me to use ORB on a previous post. Now all I need is for my bloody Canadian carrier to get the Dam HTC Diamond pro!!!!!!
P.S.S. Thank you is in order for everyone here, You have all been so very helpful with any questions I have had and appreciate all the hard work and efforts you all put forth. You have definitely improved my own personal experience with my phone.
I have tried few remote control programs but ended up getting this one. Its the best. Really fast, easy to use and many features. Its kinda expencieve. They do let you try it. You can try free VNC route too but its no where as good as Z2.

I like logmein.com it's free and pretty reliable you have to install a client on the pc and then you are able to login from ppc or pc

This site kicks butt i use it to work on computers at 8 soon to be 9 different locations
Update: After some deeper digging I did manager to find a working patch that has a bat file that fixes the services for ANY version of windows Vista to activate the Remote desktop service WITH Service Pack 1 installed.
http://www.unet.fi/fransblog/2007/08/30/enable-remote-desktop-connection-on-vista-home-premium/
I ran the bat file for my version which is home premium it took 30 seconds then added the port to my firewall as listed and poof able to use RDC for my mobile to do things on my home pc!
Thank you for the other solutions as well. Logmein is pretty snazzy i must say!
Here'z what my Win7 PC lookz like all kustomized with an kustom edition of Win7, is there theme'z like this in Win Mobile? Is it possible to simply ''port'' a theme to work on a mobile device? If so then bye bye Android...
Here'z the studio where the Win7 PC is located, just thought I'd share some picturez of my hardware...:silly:
Wow, Sylenth1, Cubase, Rob Papen and my favorite brand M-Audio's Midi Controller
Windows is not a open source, It's very secure os. We don't have a high privileges capabilities or interoperability area of functionality to achieve and develop good such functions software for the Windows Phone. But also it's not a impossible thing to develop.
