QTEK ROM Upgrade / Urgent

Updated rom's to version Radio 4.16 and Rom 3.15.15

I mean anyone tested if before or managed to upgrade his QTEK with the above ROM versions from O2 and were there any complications!!

Yes I did and it worked fine. I have it running on T-Mobile MDA, Qtek 1010 and Eurotel dataphone (rebranded Qtek). No problems.

I tried to upgrade and got the following error:

It has been answered a few times, look through fora. it's a general pocket pc language change question, but applies to this one too. You need to rewrite the ROM header to match your device. Can be sort of tricky if you don't know what you're doing.

I have the same qtek with 3.16 and 3.19 shall I do it or wait to uk version?

If you don't mind O2 startup screen & O2 autoconfig...

Hi,
My advise to you is to try to get the latest rom upgrade from
either your supplier or distributors.
Also be very wary and careful when you got advice from this
forum on where or which website to download etc especially the
one which you do not have any informations if it suit your device
or not. If it is not suitable then after downloading it to your device
it will freeze up and you have to get it replaced. These people who
give advise take for granted everyone who view this forum are
professional like them. They never realise there are lots of new
users of the device that are trying to find out more informations.
Sometimes no warning was given to you when they just give you
the website to download etc.. I am one of those new user and also
I believe one of the victims too. I do support their intetests in this
forum but not the way some of the advise are given. Hope they
got the message. So good luck to you and happy upgrading.

Hi ...
The RSU you have now is the latest for Qtek ... if it works fine don't upgrade it. For the ROM, there is TMO 4.01.00 but the current EXE file has the RSU part within and actually it starts by RSU upgrade then the ROM.
So, unless you know how to extract the ROM files from this EXE, I would advice you to stick to 4.00.16 or you may try 4.00.21 as well and you can get it from www.yorch.net

Sorry for late reply. Dunno why nobody has replied to you yet.
I don't know if you can get a french version of ROM, but the one in English released by ATT for Siemens SX56 (A.30.09 ENG) works very good. I upgraded my Qtek 1010 from version 3.14 to wm2003 several versions cooked in Jeff's kitchen but I have so far found this to be the most stable and convenient. Not only that, many bugs in the earlier versions of wm2003 are fixed. (Multiple Reset Notification bug still exists but it can be handled by scarybear software available free at http://www.scarybearsoftware.com

I discovered that the Activesync method to flash this ROM does not work. The Program A just does not run. I used SD card method. It works.
The ATT release comes with ROM upgrade and Radio Upgrade files. If you are not having any problems with your present radio, never attempt to upgrade the Radio Stack. You can find enough dead devices if you browse through this forum.
Somewhere I read in this forum that the NK.NBF file can be extracted from the downloaded file, however I could not figure out how. I ran the application and quit before it started to flash the device. You can find the NK.NBF file in c:\Program Files\SX56 Upgrade*\...\english\ folder.

You can get the .nbf file out by just opening the .exe file with winzip. At least that's how I did it

Perhaps it can be done with winzip. I use Ultimate Zip and it does not allow it

i just change the extention from exe to zip and the file acts like any other zip file

No english ROM for hw6915 exist, but somebody must have hw6915 with english ROM installed. Please somebody copy all *.mui files from windows directory and upload them to the forum and we will try copy this .mui files
to our windows directory and see what we will get. We will get true english ROM if i am not wrong. Please somebody upload english .mui files.
Try to copy files with PPC Total commander, i think this will work !

The files are OK, but i dont know how to trick the German windows to take this files. I rename those and copy to windows folder then do soft reset and nothing is realy hapend. I am so tired of trying found the solution of ENG ROM. I hope someone wil find ENG ROM for hw6915.
So folks where is that ENG rom. Must be somewhere !

FIRST THING IS TO FULY BACKUP YOUR DEVICE USING AGOOD BACKUP SOFTWARE AND TO KNOW THIS MAY BE ONLY ONE WAY!! THEN TRY TO USE THIS

If you want to replace the files and this maybe risky...
in the Awizard thing once installed in your pc you'll find a in the "BIN" folder a CAB file named unlock or something of sorts.
copy this file to the device, run it, after it with Resco File explorer (follow Erezyad method) you'll see a completely new folder named "2" there is a replica of the root folder of your device...
i have tried adding files to one or the other and while i cannot modify some files on the root (inside windows folder i.example) i can write or erase anything i want form the contents of the "2" folder and even better it doesnt mirrors the root neithe rthe root mirrors the 2...
so my guess is that on hard reset the contents of 2 are copied to \root and.
i'm too lazy to hard reset my device and i ma happy with my french language .. however you could try for example.
from folder 2 erase all the sample pictures that comes with the OS... hard reset and see if you get them... if you dont i am right and you can try and write the english .mui files in the folder 2 and hard reset... or you can end up briking your device... but it is worth a try isnt it? you look stuck anyway

PS: You can easily copy the contents of 2 folder to your pc before messing with it (no sharing violation or anything (that could act as a backup )

I tried to make an english version of CEOS.nbf based on spgi dump.
Now I'm looking for a crazy volunteer to be the first one to test it (it won't probably pass the RUU tests, but it could work. I didn't modified anything, just used modified prepare_imgfs/buildimgfs/make_imgfs). It may also crash the device....
Anyone who updates his device (with official ROM) should use HDD USB Monitor to log RUU full process.

HW 6915 Rom
Hi,
I have actually a HW6915 with a sound problem and which is sim-locked. It is a French one. It will be exchanged next week for an English version. As I prefer to have a French one I was wondering on how to copy the rom from the first one to put it in the second one. I am not sure if it is possible but before sending back the French one I prefer to make a copy of the Rom.
What do I need and how to do this ?

Please write down your text in english. So far there is no english rom for hw6915 so please be patient. If someone finds the english one i belive he will let us know. The only working rom on this forim is French ROM. I did not try it out, but someone does and this rom work i belive.

WELL, I HAVE THE DEVICE READY FOR TESTING, BUT I DON'T HAVE A CEOS.NBF IN ENGLISH... I AM WILLING TO TRY THAT ON MY 6915... I ALSO HAVE A METHOD TO BYPASS RUU TESTS (HEXEDITING THE HEADER OF THE NBF AND UPDATE VIA SABLE RUU UTILITY FOR FRENCH ORANGE UPDATE), IN FACT I'VE CHANGED MY FRENCH OS INTO GERMAN , SPANISH, SWEDISH OR DANNISH, ALSO ITALIAN... What's your RUU version? is it official sable_RUU or a modified one?
I made this one using a dump found here on the forums, and using the prepare_imgfs tools I modified. I'm waiting to get tadzio sources to make imgfs_toolsV2 for hw69xx devices (better imgfs size handling)...
I'll let you know when more informations will be available, or when imgfs_toolsV2 will be ready for hw69xx.

IPAQ 614c ROM Kitchen (Dump form the Phone)

1. The project was dumped from the phone;
2. The project has been build by use tool for HP 6288.
3. The project has not been tested on my phone. Because I don’t know if Hard-SPL will be needed and how to modify the SPL.
4. I have no flashing software for 614c.
The Process of dump rom from the phone:
1. Dump the part02.raw and diskimage_Ver.nb0 use Pdocread.exe
2. Dump SYS and OEM from part02.raw use IMGFS tool
3. Dump XIP use tool for G900. you can download.

I have a 61x prototype. And wanted to upgrade the rom. now as far as i know there are 2 parts which can be upgraded.
OS and firmware.
AFAIK the OS upgrade is fairly simple :
1. copy the files:
diagpdk.nb0
eboot.nb0
eboot_exp.nb0
ipl.nb0
uldr.nb0
xldrmdoc.nb0
and
flash.dio (which is the actual OS rom (diskimage_ver.nb0)
to a micro SD
boot the device + holding the lower left and top button.
It displays : SD flash
After some seconds the flash starts ... upgrading.
Reboot.
thats it.
First question. where do i get the other files from like eboot.nb0 ect.
I have an older version of these file, can I use them with the new image ?
2. The firmware (qualcomm)
You can use the qpst tool for that.
But now also the question. Is there a way to dump the qualcomm firmware of this device ? I also only have an older version.
BTW: the device also supports download os via USB and boot via USB KITL RNDIS.
But I have no clue how to use either.
I tried DNW.exe which detects the usb, and I can send files but I dont know at which offset address.

I have used HTC/DOPOD's phone for many years. But It's first time to use HP's Phone. According to my Knowledge from HTC. we should flash the OS if we have valid diskimage_ver.nb0 and falshing tool. AS firmware, we have to wait for code from HP.
I saw the thread named 'Universal BootLoader Tool - Flash ANY valid rom to ANY iPAQ' In recent days. Following is link.

If this tool can flash the diskimage_ver.nb0 without brick my phone. I think it's time to cook rom of 614c.
But I don't know if the IPAQ need to unlock CID. so I have wait for some one tell me know how.

the ipaq 614 is not htc. but anyway the architecture is clear.
As mentioned flashing the os can be done by keycombination during boot + SD card.
I dont think the explained romupdate tools will work with the new device.
but anyway, someone finds the before mentioned nb0 files (like eboot.nb0 ect) useful I can upload them somewhere.
I flashed your downloaded image yesterday and it worked out well. but I still have the problem which is probably related to the firmware, that the screen stays dark when the WM os boots. but the OS works, you can use it, you can even make calls, but screen is dark.
I also have the old firmware files if someone can use them.

I flashed the rom with the "SD flash" key kombination .... (no extra tools needed)
I took my older *.nb0 files and replaced the diskimage*.nb0 file with yours.
It worked great. But I still have the problem which i had already before, which is related to the firmware, not to your OS rom. The problem is that the screen stays dark when booting the OS. but active sync works, when you press keys there is a sound, you can even take pictures.
So I am looking for a way to successfully install my older firmware for the qualcomm chipset ! I have the files but I dont know how to flash them properly. The SD flash function is only for the ROM I guess !
So if you have more resources ? information on how to flash the firmware for this device, would be great !!!
If you need a more detailed description on how to flash the rom let me know.

I went to HP service centre in my city last week to ask them to fix my GPS. Then the HP engineer flash my phone with the newest firmware. The flashing took about 40 minutes and about 5 firmwares were upgrade.

Looks like the GPS and Camera are unchanged from what I have. Others are different though. That would be awesome if you could get them off of there.

Any way to give us an English translation of the upgrade instructions? I used Babel Fish, but it's still unclear...
