Getting Skype To Use Phone Speaker rather than PDA Speaker

Hello
I have an XDAIIi and am using skype. Ive found that skype outputs to the main pda speaker, not the phone speaeker, and the quality is not a good as the phone one and of course everyone can hear your conversation.
Is there anything I can do or do we have to wait for skype to support this (if they even can?)
Are there any other applications that manage to use the phone speaker?
Thanks for any feedback
Brian
Hi Brian,
I have a Skype with my XDA2i as well & if someone calls me, my XDA's earpiece was the default. If I want to use my XDA's speakerphone (handsfree or where everybody can hear the caller), all I did was to press & hold the "call" button (they also call this as "send" button, the one you press when you answer a phone call) for around 3 seconds. If I want to deactivate the speakerphone, I press the same button for about 3 seconds.
Hold & pressing "call" button for about 3 seconds will activate/deactivate speakerphone. If you still have the XDA2i user manual, kindly check page 48.
I hope this will help you.

you mean your skype can actually work with the earpiece or you mean normal telephone call works by default with the earpiece?
Vmirage & Brian,
I'm so sorry & it was my mistake. I did not realize what I'm typing a while ago. No, you cannot use XDA2i earpiece while on call, the default is the speakerphone (PDA's speaker). Instead, I use my XDA's earphone to have a privacy while on Skype's voice call.
I got mixed up with a normal call & the Skype's voice call.
Again, my apologies.

Have you tried this?
From the authors website
Please, don't even try to run it on other PDAs - it's absolutely pointless

So no I didn't bother
try your BT headset, as IIi support audio gateway. just press the answer button on your BT headset & the sound will be rerouted.
unfortunatly I don't have a headset and really just want to use the phone as normal

Reprogram Bluetooth headset button

I have a Cingular 8125 (2.17 ROM, I believe) and recently got a Motorola HS850 BT headset. It's setup and works great, but I want to know if there is a way to reprogram the call button on the headset so that when you hit it instead of opening the Voice Dial on the phone it can instead open Voice Command (which I use for everything else.) I tried poking around on the boards and didn't see anything specific, any help (or just knowing it's not possible) would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Doug
Found it
I found the answer with a little more searching. It turns out to be a registry entry for Voice Command - and it DOES work with Bluetooth (even though MS' description says it does not.)
Just change this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path
change the value from \Windows\SDDialer.exe to \Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe
Soft reset the phone and voice command will work when you hit the connect button on your phone.

I heard that it does not close the audio gateway however when you are done with the call...
is this true?
thanks a lot man, this was buggin the hell out of me! quick forum search and i found ur post. thx for doing the leg work
I placed a call with it and when the call was done used the button on the headset to terminate the call...it seemed to work okay.
i just tried it and it seemed to work just fine. the only thing i don't like, and it probably has to do with my headset, is how long i have to hold down the button for...but i can deal with that, so that i don't have to take out the phone!
I guess that the issue is with the regular voice dialer, you can just press the button to dial out, and when the caller hangs up, the audio gateway closes, you dont have to hit the button to close it.
I'm gonna give this a shot to see if I like it.
I did notice that it seems like I have to hit the call key twice in order for it to recognize the key press....maybe the first is to close the old channel and the second opens a new one? I don't have enough knowledge to say for sure, but there is no visual indication on the phone that the voice channel has not been closed.
That's probably what's happening. If you forget to close the voice channel after your call, you'll run down your headset's battery faster. I can tell that the channel is open because I can hear very faint hissing.
Of course, the point is moot for me because on my device (like many others) this trick only works until a call has been placed and ended. After that the button no longer triggers voice command. :-|

Voice Command on Mute

I use the feature in Voice Command to announce incomming callers so I know who is calling me without looking at my phone. I have set my ringers to none, so all I hear is the name of the person who is calling. However, for some reason, Voice Command seems to ignore the system volume, and still works when I have the phone set to mute.
Does anyone know of away to force Voice Command to adhere to the system volume so my phone does not go off in class or when i am at work. It doesn't happen all the time, but I know when pressing the voice command button even when the phone is mutted, it will unmute the phone and still sound the beep and confirm your commands, then put the phone back on mute. It might be a bug that exists because of this feature, but if there is anyway i can disable it, that would be great! I don't mind having to turn my volume up when using voice command to here the command confirmations, becase having the incomming callers not going off randomly is more important.
Thanks!!!
This is what I do
Go to settings, then click on Voice Command Settings. Highlight the word 'Phone', then press options. Uncheck the box that says 'announce incoming calls'. As far as I know, this is the only way to make the voice silent when a call is recieved.
Thanks....I was hoping there was a way to do this without having to change the settings everytime I have class, but I guess not. I think its just a bug anyway because it only happens sometimes. Guess I'll have to go back to good ol' ringtones....
How do you turn the ringer off, by turning the volume all the way down with the volume slider? By clicking the speaker and then clicking off?
I hold the comm button until it goes into vibrate mode then I use the volume slider to go down to off and VC has never announced the calls when the ringer is off.

Headset connect button voice command activate time

Has anyone any idea on how I can adjust the time required to hold the headset connect button in order to activate the voice command? Currently I need to hold this for far to long in order to activate it.
Maybe there's something in the manual, but I can't even anwer calls with that button. I think it's supposed to be short press to answer calls, and long press for voice command. Still not figured it out.
That's odd, I press the button for a brief moment , and voice-command is activated.....BT headset btw, but it works like a charm...
The handsfree wired headset that came with the Dopod is the one that takes quite a few seconds of holding to respond. I imagine that a bluetooth headset would work differentially as the time is probably controlled by the device itself rather than the HTC 3600.

S-Voice not remembering speakback aloud

When using s voice I always have to press the button on the bottom left to turn on the feature that speaks aloud back what s voice says. When I am using s voice in the car hands free I can never figure out what s voice wants me to do because it never talks back to me. I always have to turn back on the talk back feature. It never remembers it. I know that I can use driving mode but I don't want to. I just want to use normal s voice but it seems that with that setting turning off every time s voice turns on I have to press that button. Is this problem happening to other people. How can I fix this. Thank you.
bump
This is still not working and I don't know what to do. When I use Bluetooth in my car and activate s voice, it never automatically speaks back to me. If I manually enable it to speak back to me and I say something like, "call jack", it will say "do you want to call jack", and then it will not automatically listen to me for a response, I would have to hold down my Bluetooth car button again and say "yes" to make a call. This is very frustrating and any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
