Duplicate mailboxes - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi everyone,
Since I performed a hard reset a few months ago and used a back-up to reinstall everything on my HTC TyTN, I have duplicate folders in my MMS and email mailboxes (2 Inboxes, 2 Deleted Items etc...)
Things started to get more complicated a few days ago since I cannot delete messages in my SMS mailbox anymore... Whenever I choose to delete a message, nothing happens. The only workaround I found is to move the message to the Deleted Items folder where (hopefully) it works to delete a message.
Has anyone ever experienced a similar problem (and found a solution)?
Thanks in advance.

Yep,
I've got that now too,
and No Solution.
Can anybody help?
There must be somewhere a directory or reg entry. Checked Reg entries, but nothing found with folder name; may be its crypted in hex somewhere?

Email account disappeared, but is still there?

I just installed the new i-Mate ROM onto my 8125. Everything was going well until I opened Pocket Outlook to read my email and the account was missing from the list! I rebooted, it did not come back. I then went to re-create the account and it told me I couldn't use the name for the account because it was being used by another. But when I go to accounts, it's not listed there. Has anyone had this happen to them? Is there a way to fix this? Thanks.
had same problem;
solution HARD RESET.
Sorry
and deconfigured BT and wifi connections ?¿?

the file;cemail.vol is corupted and it cannot be deleted belive me i tried
here is what todo;
backup your machine
hard reset then restore it minus the mail folders and the cemail.vol file
that way you only lose settings from the mail folders. better than lose everthing.more informatio hereabout this problem;http://msmobiles.com/f/viewtopic.php?t=7091&sid=5f3039a90fbac525e018ee2bab2e03a4
Thanks guys. I ended up just hard resetting the device and re-creating the mailbox. I think part of it may have had to do with running some of my Cingular Extended ROM CAB files after creating the mailbox. It's been fine since, was a little more selective with the CABs I installed.

8525 "Fantom" mailbox in Messaging

Hi guys - I think I got a little carried-away cleaning up my storage card, and must have deleted one of my inbox's for comcast.net. Now when I try to readd my pop3 comcast account (which is NOT listed in the "messaging, accounts" folder list, my 8525 pops up a box saying "That name is already assigned to another account. Enger a unique name and try again." There is no account listed at all for "Comcast." The only account I have is for Xpress Mail.
I search the registry for everything I think could work. No luck. Comcast even shows up on my Today screen, when I have Messaging as a Today item. I can't open the Comcast messages, when I click on the "Comcast" reference, though... Nothing happens.
Can anyone assist? Please no hard-reset!
Thanks,
Mitch
I had the same problem. The phantom mailbox is in a mail database somewhere, not the registry, and I used some utility or other to delete it. Sorry to be so vaugue but I did find enough clues to work it out by searching these forums.
mailbox DB
OK - well thanks for the reply - that at least gives me a place to start looking.
thanks again.
There is another solution if you use a backup program with selective restore, just hard reset, restore backup except for mail settings, then redo mail manually.
Or, if you synced with activesync after deleting whatever it is, it may still be in the recycle bin on your pc. Don't know if this would be any good, but maybe worth looking.
Good luck

This was the article that gave me the clues. You have to be careful of course. I dug around in these folders/db's and deleted references to the phantom mailbox.
Good luck

Outlook Not Saving Account

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere but I searched all night and could not come up with anything for a fix, just a couple of people having the same problem.
I have a Cingular 8525
Since I upgraded to the new Cingular Rom (2.06.502.3 AKU3.3 with radio 2.7 and SPL 1.04) my outlook will not save any mail settings. I can enter the mail setting and retreive/send mail, but as soon as I do a soft reset, All the settings have disappeared. Like mail accounts have never been set up yet. Even if I use the Cingular Push, it is the same way. Outlook accounts dissapear after a soft reset.
Does anybody know a fix for this. I would like to keep using this rom because everything else works great. Need help starting to pull my hair out over this one.
Same problem here
I have a HTC Tytn with a original ROM version 1.18.255.3 (07/22/06) and with Radio Version 1.03.03.10 and the i have the same problem. I customize a new email account and after a soft reset it desapears.
Another thing i noticed is all the text messages that i have received/sent that were deleted, after a soft resent all of them appear again???? This is very strange!!!!
Thanks!
Pedro Fonseca
Here how did i solve this problem...
webphilux,
I solve this problem by deleting all the temporary files and folders that are related with Outlook.
I had some files and one folder in \Windows\Messaging and i deleted all of them. I also deleted some files that were in my storage card (files related with outlook/messaging).
Try this out...i hope it works for you like it worked for me....

Multiple inboxes

Hi Guys!
For some strange reason I have two of everything in my MMS mail program. 'Outlook' and 'text' structure is OK but under MMS, I have two inboxes, two sent boxes and two drafts etc etc. If I send a message it only appears in ONE of the sent folders (so at least I know which ones working), but it's really irritating and I'd like to put it right
Apart from a hard reset (which I'd like to avoid doing if poss), is there anyway to restore a 'normal' structure to my MMS folders?
Thanks

Phantom Email after Backup

I ran my spb backup and now have 1 extra email that I can't account for.
My gmail account is no longer listed in the messaging area either.
Anyone know how to get rid of the phantom email?
-- edit--
on further research the phone sees the missing gmail account but it's not displaying in messaging. Is there an area in the registry to remove this entry?
I have the same issue, phone can see the gmail account, but it does not show in messaging
I searched my phone's file & reg system and couldnt find anything.. anyone know?
I found some registry settings for gmail, but if I delete them, they just come back after a re-set. If I find anything I will post it here.
from what i can tell it happens when you restore old messages with the new rom version. the only way i was able to get it to go away was to do a hard reset and not restore the text messages.
I am in the same boat with my gmail account after updating to 6.1
Has anyone figured anything out? I have tried everything with the registry and looking though the My Device/Windows/Messages folder, but I haven't had any luck.
I think it has something to do with the cemail file in the windows folder.
Can someone please please help?
There is a program called FixUnreadCount floating around either here or ppcgeeks. I will link to it if I find it otherwise search for it. This usually fixes that problem.
Try searching for the file that ryanbg mentioned on www.pdaphonehome.com under the 6700 forums. I had that issue with my XV-6700 and that program cleared it up.
tried it.. did not work. The file was floating right here on xda..
I now have two phantom e-mail accounts. I'm on a Diamond and used sprite backup, but the problems seem very similar. I'm almost out of ways to write gmail.. Still noone with any clue?
I eventually had to do a hard reset, it was the only way to fix it.
The error isn't in the registry but in the outlook database. I restored the system databases. What I figured happened is that my newly configured email account didn't have the same UID as it did before I created the ROM. So, Outlook has no way to clear the records in that database for that email account that no longer exists. Windows CE or wm5 used to allow you access to those databases, but I don't see anything under Settings for it now. I'm sure there are other programs out there that would work, but you probably took the easiest route. You can do your restore again, just don't restore the system or "other" databases.
