Hello!
I was wondering if someone could please test a piece of software for me.
http://www.windsorinterfaces.com/datelens.shtml
It's a calendar-front end with an amazingly innovative interface.
It installs and runs on WM2005, BUT data entry is broken.
When you try to create a new appointment, the dates are all wrong (year is 1753!) If you try to change it to 2007, it changes it to 9998(!)
I have confirmed this fault on other WM5 handsets. The developer says it works fine for him and isn't sure what's causing the problem.
(my original post)
So if someone with W2003 is interested, please report on the following:
1) install the software
2) run the software and try to create a new appointment
3) Can you set the correct appointment date? or is it year 1753?
THANKYOU TO EVERYONE WHO GIVES THIS A TRY!!!
All the best,
Dax.
awww c'mon! Nobody will try it for me? It won't take long...
Sorry, I promise I won't be a nuissance again.
Dax,
I have tested you app on my O2 mini, and all looks good. No date issues at all. Actualy its a nice calander program.
Thanks
Richard
Thanks
Hey Richard,
Yes, it's fantastic, isn't it?
Looks like the problem is WM5 related. I don't know how to fix it, but at least we know what it is.
Thankyou very much for testing it and I'm glad you like it! (And glad it runs on your system)
All the best,
Dax.
I have the same problem with DateLens - XDA miniS, OMAP850, Windows Mobile 5.0 OS 5.1.195 (Build 14847.2.0.0)
Sometimes I get the following error:
"DateLensApp.exe
Exception
Application::Run+0xf
DateLensForm::Main+0x27"
Maybe this will help.
I like DateLens very much, not to compare with other calender-programs.
Dedis
i couldn;t install it at all - maybe its cause im using vista
Thanks Dedis, that information could be useful in working out the problem.
Thanks!

If someone can help me out, great.
I'm looking for the app above Guess the newest version is 2.26 ou 2.25.... The XDA sellers at portugal have a small app, an old one, marked as shareware. Well, i went to V2R home page, and nothing. Have search trough software houses, nothing again.
So, can someone help me out? Was interested on this cause, want to use their newst app Sync4Outlook, and they say :? we do need it.

Have only the last, of course.
...wierd, I guess it's changed to only the 2 together...
I'm trying to bluejack with my M2000 running WM5. I've tryed various software but none of it works, Dose anyone know of any software that will do this? I used to be able to do it in WM2003 just by sending contacts via bluetooth.
Thanks in advance WWWeed........
I would love to find a good pocket pc program that could automaticly bluejack people.on my old P800 i use a program called s-man that does a constant scan for other phones and then sends a message to them over and over again

Anyone?
bluejacking...
Hold your breath...
I'm currently implementing bluejacking in btCrawler.
It's already working for PPC but I need a few more days to put everything up for Smartphones...
You will be able to send messages AND files!
You can for example create your own "special" version 3 vcard including a photo or sound and then send it with btCrawler.
I'm also planning to implement something like a proximity mode. When a device comes in range a predefined automessage or file is sent...
however, link is: http://www.silentservices.de/btCrawler.html
Blujacking?
What is it? I've heard of Bluetooth...but not blujacking. Sounds like something dirty when you talk about Smurfs and blujacking....LOL
Try Sniper... (M$ bluetooth stack req'd)

Bluejacking is the practise of sending text or files to other bluetooth compatible devices that support OBEX push. Most people think it has something to do with Hijacking, but infact it's just named after the guy who came up with it named Jack. Bluejacking in not "Hijacking" or "Hacking" in any sense, you can only push, not pull.
Cornholio you are a star!, i didn't relise you had been making this program, you should start a thread to see if many people are interested!, i will try it out, have you tryed using Sman.sis on a sony Ericsson phone, its very good-it might give you a few ideas.
Oink i have got sniper-it seems a bit slow and fragile but i havnt tested it enough to give a good appion so my mind might change
Hello there,
Did any of you guys try to get hold of an application or a tweak to have kjam/qtek9100 display the Cell Info ? I have been searching for a very long time to get hold of something but didnt work. The best I could get so far is a today plugin to show the network provider it is connected to and a graph with network strength.
Any inputs will be appreciated.

I think Nice Track will do what your looking for. The newest version does work fine on WM5. Here's the change log.
NiceTrack v1.5
Here is the latest version of NiceTrack.
http://www.nicecuppa.com/download/NiceTrack_Release_1_5.zip
This will hopefully sort out the instability problems people have been experiencing with Windows Mobile 2005.
Also in this release: -
* Show picture event added
* Removal of NiceRIL.dll, communication with GSM Modem now takes place in C# code
* Ability to show signal strength in dBM
Let me know how you all get on
NiceTrack v1.4
Another version of NiceTrack for you. This release should get rid of the mysterious blank message box.
http://www.nicecuppa.com/download/NiceTrack_Release_1_4.zip
It seems that my NiceRIL.dll really hates Windows Mobile 5, so I am going to rewrite it over the next few weeks. So please bear with me!
NiceTrack v1.3b
New version of NiceTrack available. This hopefully addresses the issues people are experiencing with Windows Mobile 2005.
http://www.nicecuppa.com/download/NiceTrack_Release_1_3.zip
Sorry if you're having problems, I'll try and get to the bottom of it ASAP.

Nah, I'm not the author. Just a user.
I've got a few problems with my t-mobile mda vario.
1. This thing is sloooooow. I've got an ipaq h1940 which is a similar spec but has half the ram and it runs twice as fast :? I've run the registry tweaks which seem to have improved things a bit but after startup and active syncing im getting up to 10 second delays before the start menu opens
2. The blutooth manager seems a bit sparse, and theres no option to change the serial ports from 6 or 7 :?
You lot seem infinately more knowledgeable than me on these things so hope you can help me.
Thanks in advance
Device info:
Rom version: 1.6.2.4 wwe
Rom date: 11/15/05
radio version: 01.12.10
Protocol version: 4.0.13.23
Ext Rom version:1.6.2.105
do you have a taskmanager installed like SPB Pocket Plus or Magic Button? If not do so!
When you close a program with the above leftcross-button, WM5 only minimizes the program but does not close it. All program will just be running in the background. Use a taskmanager to close them for real.
If you have installed one and your device is still slow, i suggest overclocking it to 240 or 264 Mhz using Ompaclock, which is reasonably save to your device.
Install the latest Qtek rom, and your MDA will be much faster
thanks for the advice guys.
didnt realise you could overclock pdas
where do i find the qtek rom?
is it pretty easy to do this as ive heard horror stories about people making their devices unbootable and unable to claim on their warranties.
will try the software and the overclocking for now and report back
thanks for your help
the overclocking tips on this forum were very useful also. Thanks to all

ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Roms/
For MDA, most people are using:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_RUU_Prodigy_2170702_217_20710_TMO_US.exe
This also includes some useful tweaks and keeps the TMobile settings.
Do it now, before you get too far into customizing, because you'll have to do it all over again after the upgrade!

A copy of the "stock" TMo ROM is in the same directory, so if things go bad, you can hopefully restore it.
Or you can back up your ROM yourself using aWizard -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386
The only tell-tale of the upgrade is that it is CID-unlocked, but not SIM-unlocked. WM5 is still there, but there a number of improvements.
Hey fellas,
Since everything has been very quiet around here, I figured I would try to apply my newly acquired cooking skills to try to get something going for the BA. Now, cooking for the Vogue and cooking for the BA are two very different and separate monsters. You see?, there is a ton of info available for newer style kitchen, but very little info for older style (let alone on porting a rom). So much crap to go through (XIP, SYS, modules, files, aghh... my head hurts already). Long story short, after two weeks of persistent reading, trial and error, I have finally managed to get a good, stable, really fast port of 23518!!!!
Now, keep in mind that this is a hybrid xip (meaning I had a part of a 23001 rom, which was "injected" with stuff from 23518 to make it into that).
COME N' GET IT

Bug List
1. ActiveSync doesn't sync.
2. No SMS through Outlook. I used SMS through PocketCM and it works fine (both send and receive).
3. Not really a bug but worth mentioning anyways:
Edit the registry
HKLM\controlPanel\Input: Erase the "Redirect" entry
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\DeviceBeta: Erase the whole folder - This will get rid of the "Beta" that will show up in the home screen. The shell has already been patched, but this have to be removed from the reg by hand.
I would include these changes as a cab, but I still need to learn how to do that
4. Wifi works ok, but there are no notification bubbles. Once Wifi sees a network, you will only see a blank square. I think this might point me in the right direction towards fixing the other bugs since I believe they are related.
One for the road...
omg that's so cooooooooooooooool
looking forward to see your ROM
P.s: no SMS? (

WMP is in the rom. This is separate from d-two. In fact, I did this from scratch (with some help from swampy395)
BTW, I got SMS to work... only not through Outlook.
BTW what's the difference between build 23518 and d-two's 28008?
Good News,Finally egz will cook for BA,congratulations egz, i think it will be the best.

Aside from everything else, 23518 is newer and it is a COM5 and really a recollection of major improvements of the 28XXX series.

Hi Egz,
Although I'm not really using my BA much these days since I got my TP2, I wish you much good luck and success with this new ROM. When you release it, I'll certainly give it a try and critique . Its great to see more people getting their hands "dirty" digging into the innards and inventing/remodeling. I wish that I had the free time to indulge in this too. I can well imagine the thrill of having a new ROM successfully boot!!!! Again, Best of luck!!

Thanks a bunch, moti! The only couple of issues I have left are ActiveSync (same issue that xplode had a while back) and SMS from Outlook not doing squat. So far, I have read a few suggestions:
*Replace sync.dll's from the Shell (and replace tmail somewhere else) (trying out right now)
*Use a patched version of core.dll, which I believe is what xplode did on his.
I will keep you all posted...

d-two faced the same sync issues with 28008, and he has overcome them, maybe he is willing to help. and when you say sms with outlook, are you talking about the big outlook or pocket outlook, because it would be a major buzzkill, if sms wouldn't work on the blueangel, but no loss at all, if it concerned the PC. btw. if it is about the pc: how is that done in the first place. i installed office 2010 lately and haven't had much time to really look into it.

Hey Chef,
I had already pm ed d-two before I started building my rom asking for some guidance, but I never got an answer from him. Maybe if you ask him....
As far as the SMS, it is poutlook that does not want to compose SMS. I have been able to send sms via PocketCM, so if anything I can cook PocketCM .29 in the rom (which I personally like more than the pim app from MS anyways) and go about it that way.
Edit: Pm ed him again today. Hopefully, he will reply soon... I am fresh out of ideas and I have already asked in several different forums about it.
Thanks for this ROM
Hi egzthunder1,
I initially tried your posted ROM nk.nbf. it has many bugs. One thing though it has SIM Manager and SIM SVCS (STK??? i though no STK since WM5). Should you continue cooking this please spare this function.
Funny in this rom i could not make NEW SMS message.
Thanks and more power...
