Apparently you don't know the answer so it's stupid to just assume it isn't functional. Actually WA2 and WAD are very fast and responsive and the amount of RAM it uses is controlled by the amount of objects you use.
The setup of hellomoto_25 will probably take up about 6 MB's of RAM.
I have a similar setup on my Axim x51v (VGA device, so all images/GUI elements are 4 times bigger) and it takes 7MB's of RAM, using PB/CB/PRSS, WA2 and WAD.
Thanks for the compliments ya'll. I'd like to take all the credit but the icons and docks come from some great people over at lakeridgesoftware.com in the forums.
I run with 18mb after a soft reset and after a few hours of use I'm down to about 13mb. I SR about once a day just to keep things fresh.
As far as the skin goes, right now WAD (wisbar advance desktop) skins are rather costomized and in order for the skin to work you either need to store the images and .exe's to the same place on your device/storage card as I do and/or re-write the skin file in notepad.
Your best bet is to do what I did and take advantage of the icons and docks that others have provided and make your own skin.
I wouldn't run my ppc w/out WAD and WA2 (wisbar advance 2).
I just can't stand the default today screen.
And until Apple makes a handheld device with a built in phone, this is the best I can do.
Here is my dialpad and welcome screen after a soft reset.
Those look fantastic.... I have registered version of both WBar and WAD... but couldn't get them to look like all the great ones out there, and frankly it slowed my device way way down... not saying it was the app. As the app is fantastic.... but I must just not have as much free memory as those who have made the killer screen designs....
I am very jealous in a way, as I wish my device looked like that.... but it runs real smooth as it is now... so.... :?

Download Wisbar Advanced version 2.6.0.2 on WA2's forum. It runs really, really smooth and fast in combination with WAD on my HTC Magician.

Can anyone rewrite the cab - I mean i´m german and i´m useing a german rom and the the cab install will install everything on storage card - but in german system its called Speicherkarte.. Can anyone help
I tried this last night, and had nothing but problems, had no responce from the screen, it worked once, and i will admit that it looked very nice.
it just stopped responding, i couldnt even get into the settings or file explorer to remove the WAD or WA from startup folder.
in the end i had to hold the windows and ok hard keys on my touch cruise to reset the damn thing.
I would suggest you back everything up if you try these cab's.
good luck, i hope you all have more luck than me.
WAD2 is still in RC form...there are still bugs that are being worked out till a final release.

That sounds bad...
I hope someone makes it multilangual....
I tried it on my Orbit 2 ..Works really well and responsive...like the animated gesture transitions...(imho its the fastest diamond theme available)
I just installed the deskop not the taskbar thing(don't like it)
Very configurable....still playing with it...
This is a good UI, and very good theme. I have very much enjoyed converting this them to work on the 320x 320 platform. I think you will see many more using the WAD2 in the near future as it is very flexible and quite responsive and not a memory hog.
Jdume I posted a message on the WAD forum you can respond there or here whichever is more convenient.
i used to use WAD for getting the vista theme on my device, really need to get into it again, cos i think probably did something wrong.
i might try again in a few weeks when i have some more spare time, does the diamond theme have any cool transitions? i mean close to the original thing, i heard months ago that WAD2 was next gen. and that would support such transitions.

Hi Guys,
I tried to install SPB Mobile Shell 3 (3.0.0 build 6363), but it failed
Anyone tried it yet, or got an other version to work.
They got it 2 work on an Touch HD > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7fBRUwOYUM
And it looks cool and I really want it. Cause I don't like Touch Flow Manilla.
Hi
In my Phone is working just fine
It's a really good software, I'm waiting for the final release to buy it.
I have it and absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
Since I don't know how to flash to the HARDCPL, I figured this is the best way to make the phone look nice
Hi,
I think the commercial version of SPB Mobile shell 3 is available from today (21st April).
I just have a question for the SPB Mobile shell users (any version) -
After installing this, do we have the option to switch back to the original HTC touchflo screen (Manila 2D)? Not just by uninstalling mobile shell, but an option in the home screen selector settings to switch back and forth between touchflo and mobile shell?
I have SPM Mobile Shell 3 and it rocks!
Dunno if switching from TF2D to MS3, and vice versa, is possible.. I didn't bother testing....

prob is that touchflow replaces the lower left softkey to camera, but of course you can add the spb shell to the start menü and switch fast.
I have installed spb ms 3 in my xperia and I can say,is really nice,I love it, touch flows and other iphone similars you can´t compare with this,is the best!!!

SPB mb 3 is aviable in handango.com I´m allready buy them for my xperia,is amazing!!!!
Great stuff
I'm using version 3 for a week now and I love it!
I think it's the best Shell for Windows Mobile, don't you?
What if Microsoft let SPB write the entire winMo UI?
You know, things like the settings dialogs, the annoying messageboxes, that kind of stuff.
This way we can all enjoy a finger friendly UI and also - great performance.
(this is why I think it's better than the TouchFlo by the way)
some one please create a megaupload link
please can´t download to slow .... error
many thanks

Oh sorry... I've already flashed my Jade with a lite ROM... No more TF2D!
Anyway, SPB MS3 is officially out! Check out SPB's website...
Love SPB Mobile Shell 3
I have installed it on my HTC Touch Pro and I LOVE IT!!! I was able to get it for free since I had just purchased the last version less than 90 days ago and I actually prefer it over TF3D and I am definitely loving the Lifestyle layouts and the way you can slide between the 3 panels. So to me it is a keeper. I think they did an execellent job
The trial is working great for me. I already had version 2, but it had bugs on my Jade so I didn't use it. I will test 3 for a couple of days and assuming it doesn't do anything silly I will definitely be buying it, it blows Touchflo out of the water.

Hi all.
Just letting everyone know (maybe you already know) that there is a 20 page + thread in Development & Hacking on Spb Mobile Shell 3.0:

I suggest where possible we try and share experiences on the one thread so that all valuable feedback can be found in the same location?

I found downloaded and installed 3.0.0 Build 6411 and it works like a charm.

So, still awaiting the day when I can grab my Imagio. SOON! Anyway, question for all you users out there. Just opinions, as I have not worked with either one really (I played with SPB on my iPaq, but memory sucked on the iPaq, so no good comparison).
Which do you find better in terms of usability, finger friendlyness, and overall customization? TF3D or SPB Mobil Shell?

I have to say SPB all the way. It seems faster to me and certainly more customizable. My biggest complaint about SPB is that the weather doesnt get my locale from GPS.
Thanks Mike, but just lounging around a few posts, actually ran into a poll regarding this question, so feel like a duffas for not finding it earlier in my previous search for just this subject. Kinda a landslide for the touchflo, so will see how I like it, and if not, will try SPB, or may even run Androkkid to see if it will work with 6.5.
So, I am trying the demo of the SPB Mobile Shell. I noticed that the carousel doesnt 'float' when I tilt my Imagio, is that becouse its just a trial version, or is there something else going on?

I think I am wrong on that. Mine moves on touch but not on tilt.
I tried to activate the 3d acceleration, thinking that might be it, that froze up my system, had to do a soft reset. I think it has potential, but it seems more to be eye candy to me. I think I will stick with the stock TF3D, that seems to actually work better for me.
Edit - Actually, after soft reset, it works, sorta. I thought it would rotate based on the angle of the phone (g-sensor), but it only 'floats' with my finger. Still eye candy, wish it would also rotate to landscape.
TF3D for me

After using both, I really like the stock TF3D because I find that SPB is just too cluttered with eye candy. TF3D is more refined and it is at least as functional as SPB, perhaps even more so. It's definitely more streamlined and better organized, imho..
Yea, just had to do a second soft reset, this was after trying to remove it! So even though it really looks cool, I need something a bit more stable, functional, and effective.
I use both, i like the SPB shell most of the time and when I want to experience the TF3D i just go to the today tab in the settings and under the Items tab either tick the Launch TouchFlo 3D line which give user option to activate TF3D from the today screen or just tick the TouchFlo 3D line to activate when i hit the ok button on top and then go to the Today screen and there it is in all its simplisity. when i want the spb shell back i either reverse the process or tap on the start tab in the upper left coner one time then hit the back button.
I think you should try the maxsense ui rom that energy roms has cooked up. but you have to understand custom roms and how to flash. Id do a google search of maxsense and watch some reviews. it a cross between mobile shell and TF3D.

Alot has changed since I started this, I have my Imagio now, and have allready thrown on one of NRG Sense ROMs with the addition of CHT 1.8.5.1 as well. I have switched between Sense, ThrottleLauncher, SPB, Androkkid, PointUI, and Infinity.
Each one has its strengths, as well as weaknesses. I find Sense to be the most stable, but limited in customization compared to the others. It does very well in putting what I really need right there at the home screen. And the ability to have 4 home screens is nice. Limited to what 'widgets' and where they get placed is unfortunate, but I think that the effectiveness of CHT and Sense outweighs those issues.
TL has some great strengths in regard to the plethora of themes out there, the customization, and the ease doing that type of work. Disadvanges to me is that its not very stable, and gets a little quirky sometimes. But again, all the things I can do with it make up for the occasional soft reset.
SPB to me is really just a toy to show off. I have tried it three times now, and just can't seem to get something that I really like. I have a hard time navigating between everything, and again, its limited in 'widgets' as well, and no, I haven't tried all the different themes. But there always seems to be something that causes me to soft reset at least once a week.
Androkkid is fun as well, but the graphics aren't the best. It really is super easy to use and super easy to theme and customize, but there isn't alot of stuff going on with it. It was great for my old iPaq, but not as good for my Imagio.
PointUI is just way too freaking hard to figure out. I have tried multiple themes, multiple installs, and it never works right. Weather doesn't work, time can't change, I could continue to list, but don't have the time.
Infinity is probably the one that I would consider the most stable aftermarket UI out there, unfortunatly, its a dead UI, as the developer hasn't done anything in forever. Its super smooth, easy to customize, and I especially love the bubble's SMS capabilites! Its perhaps the most stable out of all the UI's I have tried, without one glitch that I can remember. I just wish there was more interest in it.
So I will continue to help the folks over at TL work on their themes through testing, and continue to use Sense whenever I am just working normal.
thanks for the input though! Its best to say that this thread is actually closed.
I love it, if you havent seen or heard of it.

I use it exclusively. From an ease of use and efficiency standpoint I find it far superior to the HTC Sense interface. Admittedly, the eye candy isn't as nice as Sense, but that is not my priority. I have yet to find a better "search" screen for my contacts than the one included in the Mobile Shell.
My only two big issues with SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 is that I can only have 1 location for Weather and that it doesn't have a stock ticker screen built in. If you have a solution for those two issues, please let me know.
Andrew
been using SPB shell too. Lets just put it this way the phone lasted 2 days before I flashed it with Kumars and that lasted 5 days before i put SPB on and I have had that on for the last week and have not intention of changing it
do you think you could help me with installing this on my HD2, I.e the file for it and how to install it. Thank you

Nah, it's a commercial product that continues to evolve.
I'm guessing you weren't asking for a cracked version, since I am sure you know that's against the forum rules
I love this shell. I run it exclusively on my Wing, thanks to Tribulattifather over at "[ROM]TribShell WM6.5.5[SD Version Build 23545][26.20MB Prog Mem | 71.40MB Stor Mem]"
Yeah, I said "Wing". It runs just fine on stripped-down versions of 23545, despite the RAM limitations of the device.
I still haven't gotten over the "newness" of my HD2 yet, so I'm not running it here, but I may in the future. Right now, I really enjoy the Weather Home and other fancy bits like landscaped SMS that just wouldn't work on SPB Home.
Give me a few more weeks and I'll probably jump over, especially now that they have that sweet WinPho7 skin
i just installed the trial version, and its defiantely different. i think im just gonna leave it setup factory for now, i really like the weather info on the factory theme.
I'm just holding out, that is until SPBMS v5.0 is OFFICIALLY released by SPB Software.
v3.5 is excellent, but not worth disabling Sense, in my opinion. In fact, I rather prefer the look of Titanium over standardized Mobile Shell. Then again, you can theme the HELL out of Mobile Shell, make it look pretty snazzy. LOL!
So with shell you cant use landscape mode in any programs then? It seems like there is a ton of different style themes you can change with it though. I just dont get how the trial version works, does it have everything the full version does and does your phone just reboot to normal after the 15 days then? When is the new version expected to be released?

SPB Software told mobile news and blog sites that we could expect to see the official release sometime during Q4 of 2010.

SPB Mobile Shell does not preclude running any apps in landscape mode - all apps work the same as before. The trial version is fully functional for 15 days after which it will prompt you to register and lock some functions of the shell. You can uninstall and reboot and your phone will function the same as before you ever install the Mobile Shell.

Although not as fancy as the Sense software, you do realize you can customize SPB Mobile Shell to put a weather widget on the home screen? I have mine set this way and it gives me an icon for sunny/cloudy/rainy and hi/lo temperature . . . the widget is active so if I single tap it it will bring me to a more detailed weather screen showing hour by hour and day by day weather info for 5 days.
