Clock in screen, can be done? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hi pals!
all of us that have an imate, we have to turn it on if we whant to see the hour. Im guessing if it is possible to turn off but seeing the hour in the screen. The imate still blocked till you press the on button.
Any one knows?
Thanks

That's... kinda pointless. Not to mention impossible, since it conflicts with "turning off".
If the screen is off it won't display anything, ever. The alternative is to leave your device on, and instead lock keys, but you know how that's a battery eater because your screen's on all the time.

Thats right but maybe, if the backlight is off and screen in black with the clock in white, the battery could last the same.
In any case, if there is no application for that, then nothing.
Thanks for the reply

I think SPB time can be used as a 'screensaver' for your non-WM5 phone.

Hmmmmmm
I'll try.
Thanks

No way, it works as a screensaver but you cannot turn off the screen and see the hour.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Blank screen although I get an activesynch

Sorry if this has been discussed before. I searched, honest.
I got a T-Mobile MDA from a friend. When I power it up, the screen illuminates, but nothing displays. Oddly enough, when i plug it into my cradle, activesynch completes with no errors.
I don't suspect the screen is bad, but does anyone have any thoughts? I can't get the thing to display any info, in spite of the fact that the screen looks flawless.
I'd appreciate your input. I'm frustrated. :x
So you can access your device via ActiveSync?
You could try doing a hard reset, maybe anything in the configuration went wrong --> all data will be lost.
If that also do not work, than i think you´re connector is not connected right, or there is a hardware malfunction....
Stefan
Get screen capture software at the bottom of this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39266&highlight=
Use it while active sync-ing your PDA, you can know if your PDA is working or not.. or just that the screen is the one that is going boink.
BTW, try shining a light on the screen to see if you can see anything at all on the screen, probably you've shut off the backlight?
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try
Actually, I know the screen "powers up" because the backlight comes on. I just don't get a display. I'll try a hard reset, and let you know. I'll also try to capture the screeen like you suggested. Thanks for the tips.
Puzzling about why the think synchs, (like there's brain activity) but no display. Could it be a bad screen, and where could I get one cheap?

Yet another thought... Have you ever tried taking out the battery, putting it back in, then starting the Universal back up? It takes time. Imagine taking all that time each time you open up the screen...
thanks for your reply. actually i did not mean turn off completly the phone i meant standby i was able to do this by deselecting the turn off the phone in the setting so every time i open the lid it is already on but this is affecting my battery life (i see about a 25% increse battery drain) so the point is to send the uni to stand by every time i close the lid and to bring it back from stand by as soon as i open it. thanks

Turn screen off and lower battery warning level

Hi Folks!
New in the world of WM STD I have the following issues I can't find a solution to. Probably anybody can help cause the solution is nearer than I think...
From WM 6 Prof. I am used to turn on my device with the power button and turn it off, or at least the screen, by pressing it again. With my Snap I just can turn the display on with the power button. Turning off doesn't work for me, I have to wait until it turns dark on it's own. Is there a way to turn the display off by pressing a button like on WM Prof. devices?
I searched for lowering the battery warn level. Right now my Snap starts blinking when the battery is below 20%. In my eyes much too high and with WM Prof. I had the opportunity to change that in the settings. I couldn't find anything similar in WM STD. Is there a way to change it?
Are there any news about flashing a SPL 1.24 Snap? Hard SPL or Jump SPL. I'd prefer Jump SPL, but I would appreciate any solution to get a custom ROM.
Thanks a lot in advance for reading and probably answering!
Cheers

Just to be on the right side: Is that just a thing I see as a problem, is there no solution available or probably I wasn't able to explain my problem properly...
Please let me know.
Thanks

1. There is no way to turn off the display manually..good old non-touch technology
2. First i thought 20% iss to early too, but after it starts flashing, my Snap have only 5-6 hours left on normal use. Typical for rechargable batterys i guess.
3. i have no idea

Thanks for the answer. Yes, I guess the "turning off the display" way only is possible on pocket pc's, if you come from normal mobile phones it's what you are used to...
True about the 20%. Anyhow I wondered if it is adjustable...
Thanks!

Screen is ON but stay black when I unlock the phone

Hi,
I just bought a HTC HD 2, French and unlocked version.
I have a big issue with my phone: The device start, I use it 10 Minutes then lock it (stand by).
When I push the wake up button, the phone seem to work but the sreen turn ON and stay Black... By saying the screen is ON, I talking about the backlight
I tried a Hrad reset several times but the screen is black at boot.
Can this black screen issue is caused by a software problem? Beacuse the screen work well for some minutes...
Thanks for your answers
If there isn't even a boot loader splash screen i would say its something major. If you have only just got it then i would take it back or have you flashed a custom rom or used goldcard to flash a different stock rom. If you haven't I would take it back.
I have had my HD2 for about three weeks now. It came with 1.43, but have later on upgraded to 1.48 and now Im running 1.61. Two days ago I started to encounter a really annoying problem.
When I wake up the screen and slide the button the home screen appear but after one second, the screen turns off back to lock. Then I can unlock again, and again one second later the screen is off and back to lock. This often continues until I remove the battery.
Have you experienced the same problem?
Optiknerd, Thanks for your answer. I called UPS on 24 December, they're coming today.
I was just hopping there was a solution...'cause it's hard to quit this phone....
I never installed a modified ROM. The firt black screen apaired 10min after my first use. Even at boot I can't see anything and I have to Push ON/OFF more than 20 times to wake the screen up....

Did you install any software when the phone was working okay?
Also, when you get the black screen, hold down the power button and see if you get anything. I've had mine go black screen on me and that brought up the quick list. I selected lock and it worked fine after that.
See this please http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606093, let me know if you have the same problem as me,cuz I havefigured out a solution and it works for me at least 2 days.

[Q] G1 Startup Issue

Hey, I'll make this as accurate as possible so that you guys can help in any way.
I've had this g1 for a while, but didn't really use it because I was using my Touch Pro2, but wanted to go back to it for a while. I charged it for a little while, and then tried turning it on, but what happened was that I saw a striped pattern, which disappeared and then the g1 vibrated. It happened again, but the colors weren't as bright, and then it vibrated again. After 2 or 3 more times that this happened, the g1 backlight stayed on, but the screen was blank, and it kept vibrating after a little while. After like 2 minutes of this happening, the backlight was still on, but the vibrating stopped, and the phone never turned on.
I tried connecting it to my computer, and couldn't do that because it didn't pop up on the computer screen (g1 screen is blank, but on). The charger works because the orange light comes on.
What is the problem, and how can i fix it?
any help will be much appreciated.
thank you
P.S. can't enter factory reset (holding down the home+end key), it does the same thing.
