Hi,
I tried to listen to the footy on the weekend thru my wifi connection and the net at home but when i went to the AFL website it said it cannot be displayed properly as i either dont have the updated flash player or i dont have java enabled. How do i do either of these?
This is how i intend to get around the fact it doesnt have an fm radio.
Can anyone help with this?
thanks
Just install the Flash Player
Your problem is however more java related IMO. IE Mobile doesn't fully support java script

hi
can anyone play this file with real player ppc?
http://www.radio.rai.it/live/radio1.ram
on pc, it plays
on ppc (xda/mdaII) no
why? thanks!!
official link:
http://www.realnetworks.com/industries/mobile/operators/products/player/ppc/
Its a stream from the net so it should work.. but listening to the radio via the net on your PPC would probably run up some hefty GPRS bills.
Its in .ram format, so it should work fine as long as your GPRS is connected.
thanks for your reply
the rai link provided it's only a 33kbit audio file
the following file is only 20kbit:
http://www.radio.rai.it/live/radio1.ram
when opening a ram or rm file it always tell me:
"Response or data from server timed out"
i've search a solution on this page, but without success:
http://service.real.com/help/player/realone/pocketpc/realone.html#troubleshootingyourro
thanks for any help! ;-P
I've tried many times and many links to listend and see streamed media via Real One,also with newer version.
Only 2 of 25 i've tried worked.
In fact,I don't know why they do not work.
Saluti
thank you ;-P
is your error alway the same?
thanks!
i think it depens from the pocket pc version
on real site they always write "ppc 2002)...
any other suggest?
can anyone help me please?
this page works on pc:
http://www.realnetworks.com/mobile/pocketpc/usa/entertainment_movies.html
but on my xda/mdaII not
the error is always the same:
"Response or data from server timed out"
on the official real player web site they invite customers to try their page!
http://service.real.com/test
but NO demo play with windows mobile 2003...
how it's possibile that REAL didn't try it's most famous software on the last windows mobile?
uhm...
I contacted Real about this a while ago, and they seem pretty clueless.
As you mentioned, none of their test files work, yet their response seemed to deny any problem on their end, to the effect of saying "some streams may not be compatible, contact the source of the stream".
Just plain useless if you ask me.
Now if only Radio4's listen again site did windows media (which works, er, 40% of the time)...
Incidentally, did you know Auntie Beeb is planning on a video service for their TV programmes? High quality 320x240 optimised encodings of their past week's programmes (ideal for PocketPC, in fact they've given a lot of PPC devices to their staff to test). Could be fantastic.
thanks for your reply
any other suggest?
how it's possible that no one have my problem?
real player really doesn't work on windows mobile 2003?
it' a big BUG!!!
It could be 2 things afaik
1 realplayer doesn't like nat. It needs to open aa connection back to the mobile device to send the data. The device opens a control channel, and the streaming server opens a streaming data connection. Why does it work on the pc? either the pc has a non natted public ip address, or the player falls back to streaming via the control channel, this isn't happening on the ppc player.
2 ppc realplayer doesn't like http streams and only supports rtsp streams
thank you for yout technical reply
i can only reply on point 2:
the links provided (rai) directyl redirect to rtsp streams files
if you watch the clip info during the first loading, real player ppc show the correct rstp location
i'll try with ppc2002
last year it worked with wifi connection
always seems ok (configuration & requirements):
http://www.expressresponse.com/cgi-...st_name=&last_name=&email_address=&telephone=
http://www.expressresponse.com/cgi-...cument&search_input=JSS_0019.html&session_id=[[session_id]]
but it doesn't work
damn real!
i've compliled a support form on real web site, let's wait for their reply..
Its got to be a problem with REAL, as every stream ive tried in windows media player always seems to work.
I didnt manage to get any of those test streams to work.
yes!
with microsoft media player almost all files play in streaming!
Just found buried in O2's website:
Question 5:
Can I use Realplayer with Xda?
Answer:
Yes - all content stored on Xda will be usable. You are not able to stream Real content using O2 MobileWeb at this time.

So I guess they block the necessary ports. No idea why they would want to, but it's their network after all.
Hi
I cant get video`s to work on video google, they dont show up when the page loads, plus i hit the download button and theres no response, also when i go to play an internet flash game, the message comes up "PLEASE NOTE : To view this page properly, please enable Javascript and update your flash player.
Now as far as i know i have the latest flash player, so where do i enable javascript, didnt find it anywhere in IE options? I jsut assumed this sort of stuff would just work onm WM5..
Thanks
Have you tried installing the Flash Player 7 plug-in for Pocket PC?
Yes that`s the version installed, try on your device here ...

since i am facing the same problem 1,5 year later is there a solution to view streaming viedeos using either a newer macromedia version (i read something aboute flash lite 3) or something else using the internet explorer?
i did try to go to m.youtube.com and didnt manage to view any videos there also.
The only solution i have so far is to use the vtap program but i can't seem to view a small photo of the video before downloading it and also i cant fast farward it when it plays. This is why i am asking if there is a solution like for streaming videos from the S200. All i want is to view the videos like i view them from my pc . is ti so dificult?
(ps i am still on wm5)
thx in advance for any answer
nada????
oh well
it wasn/t so dificult after all.......
It just needed a lot of searching....
YOUTUBE is possible on pocket IE after all (and on WM5)
here is the solution (if there is anybody like me who didnt know it allready)
http://discussion.treocentral.com/showthread.php?t=148801
for youtube i just go to
http://ytpocket.com/
it emulates the youtube website and making it streaming with tcpmp. all the instructions are there as well the plugins needed are within the website.
I want to stream radio to my Vario II.
Is there anything out there that will play .ram files? I know RealPlayer do not do a player for WM5's, so is there anything else?
Also, would this be frounded upon by the T-Mobile contract? Or are people streaming stuff without any warnings.

Not sure what files it plays, but resco radio is a very good radio streaming application. Check link below:
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/radio/default.asp
Would this be frowned upon by T-mobile? Probably, but not received any complaints yet.
My Vario 2 came with that kinda odd 'streaming media' program, which fires up when I load an .sdp file... Maybe you could try download the ram file, renaming it to sdp and tapping on it to open it? That may work...
I know TCPMP doesn't support the RTSP protocol, but there's the off-chance that it's not an rtsp stream of course. Not too likely though. I have the installer for the last version of Real Player before they went over to exclusively provide their software for Nokias, I could chuck it your way if you want (I've had mixed success getting it to work though).
Thanks gyus ...
www.radio4pda.com
Allows streaming via WM and others.
Matt
Real Player for Universal should work
Just google real player pocket pc, its a version 1.1
... This one, you mean?
So, will that do the job?
I mean how can one possibly play .ram files in streaming?
My favourite radio uses this kind of files only, thus making all other options (Resco, TPCMC, etc.) useless.
Hello,
I have discovered many radio streams now require the latest flash to be installed but when I install flash 7 it breaks the work I've done with tcpmp and the flash plugins for youtube. Any way to avoid this situation? I have both Opera mobile and IE installed on my 8525. is there a way to allow opera to use flash 7 while maintaining my settings in ie for youtube. Thanks in advance for your help.

I am trying to radio stations that are broadcast over the INTERNET but my hd2 will not play them. I have downloaded so many flash apps but none have worked. I cant see you tube either. Has anyone done this?
If you are using a Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM flash is not compatible with the Windows Mobile OS. You will have to either run a 2.2 Froyo or better Android build from SD card or flash A NAND Android 2.2 Froyo or better ROM to you HD2 to be able to use Flash.
Go check OPENweb Radio out for listening to live radio broadcast over the internet.

If you are talking about the Youtube app or the streaming media player there is one of both of those in the stock ROMs. If you are talking about a streaming media player in the web browser the internet explore in all Windows MObile ROMs have what is called Flash player light which is a very simple version of the flash player and only works on sites like youtube that are used for nothing but streaming media. But Youtube is almost the last sight to support flash player light as the flash player has upgraded a lot since the light version came out and Andriod supports full flash now so most sites are dropping or have dropped support for flash player light.
