hi
can anyone play this file with real player ppc?
http://www.radio.rai.it/live/radio1.ram
on pc, it plays
on ppc (xda/mdaII) no
why? thanks!!
official link:
http://www.realnetworks.com/industries/mobile/operators/products/player/ppc/
Its a stream from the net so it should work.. but listening to the radio via the net on your PPC would probably run up some hefty GPRS bills.
Its in .ram format, so it should work fine as long as your GPRS is connected.
thanks for your reply
the rai link provided it's only a 33kbit audio file
the following file is only 20kbit:
http://www.radio.rai.it/live/radio1.ram
when opening a ram or rm file it always tell me:
"Response or data from server timed out"
i've search a solution on this page, but without success:
http://service.real.com/help/player/realone/pocketpc/realone.html#troubleshootingyourro
thanks for any help! ;-P
I've tried many times and many links to listend and see streamed media via Real One,also with newer version.
Only 2 of 25 i've tried worked.
In fact,I don't know why they do not work.
Saluti
thank you ;-P
is your error alway the same?
thanks!
i think it depens from the pocket pc version
on real site they always write "ppc 2002)...
any other suggest?
can anyone help me please?
this page works on pc:
http://www.realnetworks.com/mobile/pocketpc/usa/entertainment_movies.html
but on my xda/mdaII not
the error is always the same:
"Response or data from server timed out"
on the official real player web site they invite customers to try their page!
http://service.real.com/test
but NO demo play with windows mobile 2003...
how it's possibile that REAL didn't try it's most famous software on the last windows mobile?
uhm...
I contacted Real about this a while ago, and they seem pretty clueless.
As you mentioned, none of their test files work, yet their response seemed to deny any problem on their end, to the effect of saying "some streams may not be compatible, contact the source of the stream".
Just plain useless if you ask me.
Now if only Radio4's listen again site did windows media (which works, er, 40% of the time)...
Incidentally, did you know Auntie Beeb is planning on a video service for their TV programmes? High quality 320x240 optimised encodings of their past week's programmes (ideal for PocketPC, in fact they've given a lot of PPC devices to their staff to test). Could be fantastic.
thanks for your reply
any other suggest?
how it's possible that no one have my problem?
real player really doesn't work on windows mobile 2003?
it' a big BUG!!!
It could be 2 things afaik
1 realplayer doesn't like nat. It needs to open aa connection back to the mobile device to send the data. The device opens a control channel, and the streaming server opens a streaming data connection. Why does it work on the pc? either the pc has a non natted public ip address, or the player falls back to streaming via the control channel, this isn't happening on the ppc player.
2 ppc realplayer doesn't like http streams and only supports rtsp streams
thank you for yout technical reply
i can only reply on point 2:
the links provided (rai) directyl redirect to rtsp streams files
if you watch the clip info during the first loading, real player ppc show the correct rstp location
i'll try with ppc2002
last year it worked with wifi connection
always seems ok (configuration & requirements):
http://www.expressresponse.com/cgi-...st_name=&last_name=&email_address=&telephone=
http://www.expressresponse.com/cgi-...cument&search_input=JSS_0019.html&session_id=[[session_id]]
but it doesn't work
damn real!
i've compliled a support form on real web site, let's wait for their reply..
Its got to be a problem with REAL, as every stream ive tried in windows media player always seems to work.
I didnt manage to get any of those test streams to work.
yes!
with microsoft media player almost all files play in streaming!
Just found buried in O2's website:
Question 5:
Can I use Realplayer with Xda?
Answer:
Yes - all content stored on Xda will be usable. You are not able to stream Real content using O2 MobileWeb at this time.

So I guess they block the necessary ports. No idea why they would want to, but it's their network after all.

best of all, its free, and runs great on my 5 year old homebuilt pc.

I am going to m.youtube.com .. when I select a video it opens realplayer and says 'failed to connect' .. ?? anyone know how I can fix this?
EDIT: When I open m.youtube.com using Opera and select a movie to play REalplayer says 'media file type not supported' ??
Try using TCPMP or Coreplayer and see if that works??
I havent managed to get this working yet since tmobile are tight...my next paycycle will get me onto the higher tarriff which allows IM and streaming.
EDIT:: ok i just tested it using wifi on my TyTN...when you select the video it opens 'streaming media' automatically and works no problem....most likely a problem with either:
a) your ROM....are you running a new WM6 ROM (LVSWs latest, Elf v2.1, custel ultimate...black shadow or schaps 3.30c??)
or
b) your provider, they might be blocking streaming content???
I have TCPMP .. How do I make it open that instead of Real PLayer? .. I'm not downloading the movies, I am trying to stream them, I dont know how to download them.

'Streaming media' in WM6 will do the job no problem...id recommend going for a cooked WM6 ROM dude....come on you still use a carrier ROM?!?!?!
I was using Black Shadow as of yesterday.. then I switched back to official ROM when cingular told me the update will be available in July... cuz I wanted to try out my push to talk .. .. Which ROM allows streaming media? .. <I downloaded flash player and regular Youtube plays videos but it is SOOOOO choppy on Wifi.. lol.. yes.. I'm cheap.. Laid off so I canceled my PDA connect..>

I believe you can use PTT with a non-cingular rom. Since you have a cingular rom atm just save off the EXT-ROM to your PC and flash a WM6 rom then copy back the MT_PC_Hermes_PTT_REG_070129.cab and execute it.

ALL the latest cooked ROMs have streaming media in them......when you go into the particular page just click on 'Watch Video' and streaming media connects automatically.
I seem to have a problem which is like the one you saw. Youtube works completely fine using wifi. But as soon as I try it with my providers connection (o2 germany) it just keeps saying network not found although im connected using HSDPA.
Anyone got an idea what coule help here?
Is it possible to get Youtube movies working on the BA (running WM6), and if so, what player do I need?
The TCPMP player gives me a "RTSP protocol not supported" error when trying to look at a Youtube movie :/
hi there!
there is some kind of plugin/addon, which allows you to download youtube movies to your pda....
just search this forum or google for it, here is ONE source!
hope that helps....
regards,
krz
I have that tcpmp plugin, and it does work most of the time. I've run into some files on youtube that still give me an unknown media format error. Not sure why.
The Avot Media Viewer that someone posted about here a week or so ago works great though.
http://www.avotmedia.com/
http://m.avotmedia.com/
The Avot is OK but it needs much work to be more than OK.
I use the vTap.
http://veveo.net/
Use the search bar to browse uploaded videos from any embedded video website (like youtube, metacafe etc).
You can also have a feature of searching into wikipedia articles!
Very cool...
After doing a bit more digging, I installed Streaming Media v 2.10 build 518.700 (from High Tech Computer Corp.) on it.
It's working GREAT!
Download link and more info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313961
hi everyone!
well, i installed the HTC STREAMING cab, which was included in xplode's cabs. i dont know, what version this actualy is...
anyway, i can playback youtube movies, but the performance sucks big time.... lots of stuttering, not enjoyable at all.... is it just me experiencing this problem?
is the BA oo slow to playback such vids?
or am i doing something wrong here?
thx in advance,
krz
you should check your internet connection too...
me again!
have to add, that i now have the FLASHVIDEOBUNDLE.cab installed, which not only gives me great streaming playback using TCMP Player (make sure u have installed the right version first!), but in addition to that gives me the oppotunity to save the flash videos to your storage right away....
VERY COOL CAB!!! KUDOS 4 THE (true) CREATORS!
btw: that STREAMING thing that came with xplode's cabs still doesnt work... (my internet connection is of course up and running!!)
cheers,krz
okay, after playing around a little bit and after installing/deinstalling/reinstalling HTC STREAMING Software, i am afraid i screwed up flv playback completely...
every time i try to load a youtube site, pocketIE crashes and my device freezes, leaving me with soft reset as only solution!
i tried to play back flvs on the youtube mobile site as well, with no sucess. nothing happens! the vids just dont load....
ARGH!!!!!
keeps crashing and crashing.... (pocketIE keeps loading, the suddenly freezes!)
when trying to play mobile youtube in pocketIE, nothing happens.... (just loads 0kb, then stops...)
can anyone load youtube.com without any problems?
can anyone play back youtube.com movies without problems?

I read thru that post as well and as I wrote, I cannot play back m.youtube.com videos eitehr, it just sttarts loading and stops immediatly at 0KB again, thats it.
what streaming client do you have installed?
the one, that came with xplode's cabs?
or that one: RvBCrS_HTC_Streaming_Media.rar?
the easy and fast way, install my streaming media cab open m.youtube.com and it will stream with the player just fine, tested and working

well did you installed audio manager also ?, inside the cab there is verinfou.dl which is needed for most of the HTC software, but if you install them both it will work

Hi guys
quick question
has anybody managed to get the X1 work with streaming sites that link to files placed on youku? it doesnt seem to work for me at all ... the same is true for sports streaming. Plus, I downloaded the TVu winmobile player but it doesnt seem to work at all. If I try to follow a tvu link I get an error message, if I just start tvu and select a channel I can see it buffering, but once it reaches 100% nothings happens.
any ideas? are there winmobile versions of other known streaming apps like sopcast or tv ants?
thanks for you help guys
