Well, why not bring it back to the seller and have it replaced? If it is new, like you say it is, then you should also have warranty. Are you really sure it is new? Most of the time there is an obvious reason why it is blacklisted... you do the math.
thats all well and good but it was bought of a street trader and according to o2 it went missing in shipping so basically the MATHS isnt so hot .....
Its highly illegal and this site WILL NOT give you answers for this question.
changing imeis is a criminal offence isnt it?

Hello everyone,
I had the famous "Screen freezing/not responding and start menu clicking" problem.
I called by phone to the support in the UK and was told that I need to ship it for repair.
I was a bit afraid to do so in the beginning but after getting my mobile back home (After less then a week!!!), I must let you all know that their support is GREAT!
Not only that they replace the MB but also replaced the bezel that was a bit peeled.
The email response and the phone response was perfect - There is a guy named Abdul Ibrahim that was VERY helpful.
Bottom line, the phone was back and fixed perfectly in less then a week.
Cheers and well done!
Eldi
Would that be a completely new phone, refurbished?
Have you IMEI changed?
Where do you live? UK?
And most importantly:
did you need to produce any proof of purchase? I've got none thanks to crappy Ebay seller...
I had a very good experience with them. I had opened my phone (so warranty normally void) upgraded ROM but they still fixed it and shipped back with 2 day shipping from UK to US.
I personally give them an A+
They changed the Main board and the Bezel.
The phone is the same only with a new IMEI.

I live in Israel, that's why I was so surprised to get it quick.
Make sure if you do not live in Europe that you declare to customs BEFORE sending it!

No need for a proof of purchase as the warrenty covers 1 year.
The P3600 is not out for more then a year so you are automatically covered!

If the IMEI is different , its not the same phone!
They send you a refurbished phone , or a new one.

How could they change the motherboard and keep the same IMEI?
I would have thought that once he said the phone had its MB replaced you had in fact already been told that the IMEI was different.
Am I wrong?
A phone with a different MB _IS_ a refurbished phone, isn't it?
Sorry about that, you are right.

Changing IMEI and talking about IMEI changing is forbidden on XDA, sorry to say.
As these are illegal actions or gaining facts to the possibility of illegal actions, we are unable to help you.
Regarding the post linked above, that will only help you recover your existing IMEI/fix a bootloop/repair your EFS. If you know your IMEI is blacklisted the only way to continue is by changing it.
Sorry... Thanks for your help...
I think i have lost 650€....

Go return it to the shop and ask for a refund.
All is not lost u can still sell your phone for parts like screen digitizer, parts etc...outside of North America... Blacklist is different... It can be used overseas...sell it to an overseas buyer on eBay

As @bimjunk said, you could sell it for parts or just sell it online, blacklist is regional, not worldwide.

i like this pohone, i don't want to sell it ;(
This can still be fixed. I experienced this already. I flashed using Odin the original stock rom that came with it. Make sure to check /tick re-partition option in Odin.
I tried so many times to restore the pit file that I backed up, but happy that flashing original rom using Odin with re-partition option ticked worked.
Goodluck and hope it works.

You're misreading the OP. He said his phone is blacklisted where he is and wants to change the IMEI. No matter what happens if he gets his IMEI back he would still be blacklisted.

what did you mean by blacklisted?
If you cannot access the current network (your home network), you can change to another SIM of another network.
As blacklist is network-dependence.
I don't know another meaning of blacklist?
The imei is blacklisted by network provider
So just change your sim card to another network. Done.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Well most of the time all the networks of a region or country collaborate on a blacklist...like in Canada and US... If one operator blacklists you, the national blacklist has your imei and your phone is useless in that region...from ethics pov your have a phone which was reported lost or stolen...sell it for parts or sell it overseas
I dont want to sell it i know its possible to change imei, for example with spt box. .. please team, help me. ..

I figured it was illegal after reading some posts and looking at the item on ebay more. Thanks alot for the reply. Cheers
You can get prison for that. It's illegal for a reason, otherwise every thief who nicks a phone would just go to a phone shop somewhere and get a new IMEI.
Hello, few days back I bought a Samsung Galaxy S5 from dude near the hypermarket. It was on good price but screen was cracked but I paid for repair and now is everything fine. My problem is, that I think that phone was lost or stolen by previous owner and I´m afraid, that police will go after me and they´ll took that phone back. My friends told me that police can track lost or stolen phone so now I´m afraid of it. I paid 200€ for phone plus 50 to my friend for fixing the screen. If they take that phone back I would simply lost 250€.
Is there any way to change IMEI or to do something for prevent police of track that phone?
I tried this method and IMEI is "changed", but I think that is only the mask and real IMEI is still saved in phone.

They will do nothing, stop being afraid, and mod the imei is illegal. don't be scared if they catch you it will not be about a imei of a phone.

Really? I know some cases when phones were given back to their owners, and if I spend 250€ on phone it would be just money thrown in air... Also, I don´t mind about ilegality of changing IMEI, my trade wasn´t legal at all.
And what do you mean by - don't be scared if they catch you it will not be about a imei of a phone? - They can localize me by IMEI number or?
xda is a legal website, so here nobody will tell you how to change imei ...
and they will not call fbi for a phone ... they have others things to do !
Oh, I see your point now. I didn't know about that, I'm sorry. Anyway, I would appreciate any suggestion where can I get help with my issue.
Even if anyone knows about a method for changing IMEI number, no one is to answer you, because it's ILLEGAL.
I think that word means everything.
Okay then, I was thinking that it is casual thing what people are doing with their smartphones these days. On my old old HTC phone i got broken imei or efs files after flashing roms and kernels and I wasn´t able to connect to GSM network. Someone fixed it by changing these numbers or something, I really dont know, I´m not into these things at all...
Maybe I should better use my old Z1 compact, I got worries now. :/ Anyway, thanks for all responses....

Check out this thread, this is as far as you'll get on this site. XDA is an american site and changing IMEI is illegal in USA, hence no one's allowed to give you a concrete solution. Don't ask me because all I know is in the below thread.

If this "dude" is a shop then I would take it back to him for a refund. You bought this in good faith so he is the one who will get the police after him (if at all). The question is why do you have reason to believe the phone is lost or stolen?? If it was then they would most likely ring their provider and have the IMEI blocked.... if that has happened then the device is as good as dead. Changing the IMEI is illegal in almost all places...

Well, that dude is shop, but he sold me that phone without papers, warranty etc. Price was really good. New S5 cost around 400€ at my place. And I think it was found or stolen, otherwise he would give me warranty papers and all those things... And I think, that in my country they cant just blacklist IMEI. I´m going to visit that man after christmas and we´ll see....

Same problem for me, there are a possible solution?
Hi Guys,
my Problem is that i buyed my father a new phone. he lives in turkey and if you want to use a phone longer than 1 month in turkey you must register it. otherwise they block your imei and you cant use the phone. so i want to change the imei from the new phone to the old one what is registered, otherwise my father must pay about 150€, and thats not okay. i bought the phone in media markt germany and i got the receipt. i think its not okay that you have to pay that money to the state, if you buy a new phone.. thats crazy and much money for nothing. the older phone is a galaxy s2 what has a registered IMEI and i want to change the IMEI of the new phone to the older ones, that he doesnt have to pay for the new phone. so my question, can i do a EFS backup of the galaxy s2 and restore it on a galaxy s5, is it possible? or is there another way to change the IMEI of the phone? in my opinion its not illegal in that way, cause i got the receipt and the original boxes of those phones. i am from germany so excuse me for my school english, i hope you know what i mean.
thanks in advance
In a word.......no
The IMEI is a number that is unique to every cellphone. In many countries, altering this number is against the law. If anybody here on XDA gives you information on how to do it, they'll be breaking XDA rules too.......
