Press and hold the "end call" button (the red button), after 5 seconds it will disconnect GPRS.
Hold the RED button for more than 5 second, it should normaly disconnect you. You can also use the third button in the com manager.

I have just recently got a Xda2i.
Every time I turn it on, i find the gprs enabled.
I have had my old xda2 for more than a year now and this has never happened before.
I am just worried that I am gong to get a shock on my next bill.
I know that it may use a few bytes here and there, but it tends to add up after a while.
The only way I can stop it from doing this is to go into flight mode. Whats the point of having a xda if the phone is always off? :?
maybe I have changed some gprs settings?
Concerned,
Frogger
The "G" sign at the top of the screen does not mean you are connected to GPRS all the time.
It simply means you are in a GPRS area of the network, so GPRS is available when you need it and connect by tapping the "G" symbol.
lydiachris, or maybe someone else can tell me how to make a disconnect after I've get connected to the Internet over GPRS. In WM2003 (not SE) there is a button Disconnect, but in 2003 SE there is only Hide button... so How can I disconnect from GPRS without tourning on Flight Mode?
Exept Press and hold Hang up Button.
Hi Lydiachris, please could you tell me where to get hold of the "I-Mate PDA2 ROM:v 1.11.144 WWE " rom. I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find a link. Cheers...

But there ist no other way without extra software. PhoneAlarm 1.22 for example brings back the diconnect-button. Or use the taskbar-icon from SPB GPRS-monitor, it also got a gprs disconnect button and shows you all gprs stats. But only the full version does that, not that gprs-monitor coming from exROM (T-Mobile).
Here is very good application it adds missing disconnect button and few more options just place it in windows folder make soft reset and go to settings/system/GB-SOFT Tweak enjoy
I´m using XDA Mini (Germany), and I can´t find the option to turn off GPRS permanent.
Does anyone know how to turn off it completly? ´cause I don´t want my Telephonrechnung goes Sky-rocketing
you can close it on other devices by holding in the hangup button for awhile
and it's never on when you dont see the sync kinda iron insted of the triangle with signal str bars
if you want you can remove the settings in connection so it cant connect if it want to
I see, thanks.
If you've lost the button on the bubble to disconnect GPRS then check out this post.
Is there an app available that will allow me to diable or enable GPRS usage ? I would like to use GPRS when im out and about, but dont want my phone doing things like connect to GPRS if I forget to sign out of messenger when ive been using wifi. When the phone switches itself off, it will connect via GPRS and download any messages emails.
I have put some dummy accounts in to stop it connecting but it keeps coming up with unknown application errors then although it does stop it costing me any download allowance / money.
Anyone ?

Maybe you did not get an anwer because you posted it in friday the 13th
But I want the same.
I am going abroad later this month, and I don't want any program to connect via GPRS.
It just costs too much.
So does anyone have a solution to disable connection by GPRS?
Hi all. All you do is press and hold the call end button for a few seconds and GPRS will be switched off.

I think you are mistaking the question.
If you press the Call End button for a few seconds, it indeed will end the GPRS session.
For that moment.
But if an application want to connect, it reconnects with GPRS just that easily.
And that's what you are afraid of, when roaming.
I really want to control the GPRS connection, off or on.
I use SPB GPRS Monitor. It adds a Icon to the menu bar at the top. You just tap on it, tap connect, and there you go. You can disconnect also. The program is skinnable as well! Moreover, it monitors your GPRS usage so you know when Vodafone is over charging you
cya
I also use GPRS monitor, but that's not the issue here.
I know how to disconnect, but I don't want GPRS to connect automatically, whatever condition.
Just do not connect via GPRS unless I tell the wizard to do so.
i know how you can do it!!!! Close messager and you will not have the problem!!!!! does not take brains! If you cant do that why the heck do you have a phone like this, which must be really too high tech for you!

Oh, okay....no clue in that case
The best way would be not to save the password to the connection, so it asks for it each time. That will stop it connecting, but it is inconvenient
Hope that helps

Hmm, this is no fun-man.
I ask a normal question, so please give a normal answer.
I have pushmail, newsreader, weatherpanel, Messenger and maybe some more progs who connect automatically over GPRS.
In holland that's no problem because I have a flat fee abo.
But when I go abroad I have to disable each and every application by hand.
(Roaming GPRS is sooo expensive )
So this device is definately not too high tech for me, but I am looking for an easy solution and that's to control GPRS by hand.
One program does it all for you:
Vijay555's VJVolubilis program!
Google search for Vijay555. Go to Releases. He's got a bunch of software written by him (a BIG THANK YOU to Vijay - Viva la ViJay!)
Instructions:
- Install cab file.
- Create a shortcut (using Ilauncher or any other programs that allows you to) and change the properties to wot you need
- In your case, use the properties - -gprson or -gprsoff or -gprstoggle
- You can set one icon to turn GPRS on and one to turn GPRS off in case you're worried about toggling it on instead of off.
Works great for me.
And don't forget to donate to Vijay!
Hope that helps.
Thanx, that's really looking promising.
It seems exactly what I was looking for.
I will test this prog asap.
i have been looking for a prog like this so I do not get price raped when my gprs drops out...I will test it out thanks.
End Call button disconnects GPRS?
Hi everyone, I used SKTools recently to clean up my Cingular 8125. Now, whenever I hit the endcall button, it disconnects my connection to the Cingular network. I use the endcall button frequently to close screens/apps in one handed mode.
I used to have to hold the button down for a few seconds to disconnect me from the network. now whenever I tap it, it disconnects me from edge network.
Any way to change it back to the original setting?
Also, is there any way to have my 8125 CONSTANTLY connected? My spb weather never updates every hour like its supposed to. I think because spb weather does not wake the connection if its off.
Thanks, Jeff
same problem here, anyone have a solution for this? maybe its in the settings but i can't seem to find it?
I also want my phone to allways be connected to gprs..to use AIM and stuff..but it seems almost impossible to do so because it disconnects after every phonecall or after a few hours of being on..ANNOYING!
can anyone help with this situation?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Phone
Flags2
try set Flags2=0
or delete (value not key!!!) it
you also can use [...] button in SKTools tweaks section for restore this to default
Thank you, that did something. However It reconnects if i close the connection, but it still disconnects me after a while when I am connected to AIM service. Any suggestions?
Hi Guys,
All I want is when I close my Explorer the Internet connection will turn off too, And not do it manually through the comm manager
Does anyone find a way?
Alon
you can hold the red botton to close connection
go to settings-system-long press end kay
i dont think there is another way (maybe by regester)
Hi,
You can always put a timeout on the data connection as explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1248449&postcount=7
Works good enough for me.
