Hi all,
I am currently in Canada with my new HTC P3600 unlocked phone. My mobile carrier (Rogers) just launched their new 3G network in Toronto this week. The phone on the 3G network is amazing FAST (1.5mbps down) when using the internet. Voice quality is VERY clear!
I am interested in the quality of the video call feature, but I don't know of anyone else with 3G enabled phone, or if Rogers has a test number you can call!!??
Any one else using their Trinity on a 3G enabled network that would like to test a video call or can share their experience?
Also, for any of you Rogers customers, what do you think about their crappy data plans!? No unlimited data plan.. can only get 100mb for $100/mth!!
ps: According to Rogers support department, they do NOT support unlocked phones...
Thanks
Chris

I have a strange problem!
I have an O2 XDA II, (unlocked), original ROM (1.03 USA), which I'm using with a UK Vodafone SIM. This works fine in the UK, however I am currently in the US trying to roam, without any luck. The automatic network selection does not connect to any network. Using manual network selection, I can select the T-mobile network, which it connects to, with good signal strength, but if I try to make or receive a call it does not work. It also loses the connection altogether after a few minutes. (This SIM works fine in the US in my Motorola tri-band phone). However, if I use my wife's US T-mobile SIM in the XDA II instead of mine, it works fine!
Any ideas?? All help would be gratefully appreciated!
Paul
phone networks must have agreements to let users roam
Vodafone certainly have a roming agreement with T-mobile in the US - I've been using this SIM in a triband phone in the US for years.
Paul
well are you talking about roaming of grps ?
because there are not as many agreements when it comes to grps as there is when it comes to std phone
No, just roaming GSM voice!

I live in Vancouver BC. So far we don't have 3G in our area. .
I am using the same phone with Rogers too, I dunno how I can enable video calling with Rogers, supposely it should work for other phone, however, I may be wrong. Let me know, coz I want to try it too.
I dont think video calling is enabled yet. Just the data.
Whenever I visit Toronto from Ottawa I get the HSDPA/3G with performance around ~300kbps. HOWEVER it totally Kills My Battery - like within under 24hrs using push email. Very bad.
Video calling is active in Toronto
I have just added VISION (video calling) feature to my plan. But I am unable to make video call.
You need a Setting for Video Call.. like a MMS,WAP need APN.. IP... setting
no you don't
video calling on rogers DOESN"T REQUIRE SETTINGS
make sure WCDMA is on in networks and the 3G icon is showing NOT E or G
Did u try P3600 Video calls @ rogers ?
was one of the first to sign up for the vision plan =)
so yes
im in the U.S. 3G area according to my phone anyone want to try video call
im in the U.S. 3G area according to my phone anyone want to try video call. I don't know if it will work since i have cingular as my provider to a roger phone up in canada? does any one know when the u.s. will sell video enabled phones? I have an htc p3600 unlocked works perfectly except i have no one to call that has a video phone
Damn Rogers, hurry up and launch this in Vancouver.
What are the plans like? I am dying for an unlimited 3G data plan.
****, even an unlimited EDGE plan would do it for me, but that's honestly not worth $100+ a month.

Hi,
I have just bought a tilt unlocked to use with my T-mobile prepaid card.
I will use the device principally like GPS and VOIP calls, this is my first PDA and I bought the tilt for the triband 3g (for the voip calls) that I can use in europe too (I'm italian) and for the inbuilt gps.
I was stupid and just discovered that t-mobile has different bands for the 3g, and that my tilt will not work with it, more I can't do an ATT plan because I have no social security number. If I would have discovered this before I would have bought a cheaper edge symbian phone with inbuilt gps
Here the questions:
There is an other carrier for 3g that will work with my tilt?
I don't want to pay a data plans with T-mobile that I will not use: is acceptable the quality of voip calls with t-mobile or I need to switch to a different carrier?
Thank you for your help
I've just fund here
att prepaid data
that att offers prepaid flat data, but I don't see nothing on their website
fund!
medianet
I asked and replied by myself
only the last question: will be possible to use voip on medianet or ATT has some limit to voip?
is possible to set up media net and have "normal" access to all websites?
Please help! I moved to Australia and cant use any data functions on the Optus network. Optus uses 900/2100mHz for both the 2G and 3G networks. They utilize UMTS and HSPA...the same as T-mobile (the folks I intentionally bought my phones from). I know the Glacier doesnt do data at 900mHz, but I can't even get a connection at 2100mHz. I called HTC customer support and Virgin Mobile Australia. Both companies are stumped and say it should work, but it doesn't. 2 phones, 2 sim cards, no data. Voice and SMS work fine. I added the Virgin Mobile APN per their settings, still nothing. Ideas? Is there a patch required to be Aussie compatible?
Second issue, my wife's phone is very weak when it comes to WiFi, I have seen this is a known issue. Is there a fix now that mailing it back isn't an option?
Please help. I have two great smart phones that aren't so smart right now.
Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays.
Resolved. Don't input the APN settings, just enter the APN name and the phone figures out the rest. No luck with wifi.

So it is definitely working for you? I wanted to get the HTC Glacier as well (i.e. mytouch 4G). If I got it unlocked, would it work on the 3 Australia network? Specifically, are you getting 2G speeds for data usage on your phone, or are your getting 3G speeds. I want to be able to use it in Australia as well. It's a lot cheaper than some of the other phones available with similar specs in Australia.
Sorry for slow reply. Yes, I am getting 3g speeds on Optus/Virgin network. I do not get MMS though or video calls. I only get internet and SMS. Good luck.
Cool thanks for ur help, managed to get it to work in Australia on 3 (dunno about other networks), although from what I've heard the 3G won't work in rural areas because they use a different frequency.
So I got my unlocked T-Mobile [d801] G2 working on Verizon 4G LTE. I just can't make calls or send SMS. Is this because it has to go over CDMA or something?
I'm still using the T-mobile ROM. Vzw LTE works fine - like hangouts phone calls and web sites.
Just curious about this.
I'm going to the UK (London) soon, I don't expect to have 4G but I should get 3G on the 2100MHz band according to "willmyphonework".
Does Verizon require you to call in and register the phone imei?
No I just had to add the APN info and "register" on the network via the phone. I had some issues with the LG G2 due to its poor radio, but that doesn't represent the entire process which is usually quick and easy.
