Soft resets. How many this week? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Don't get me wrong. I really love this thing but I seem to have had a spate of lockups and freezes lately. I know the sensible thing is to list all the software etc but I would like your feedback to see if my build is unstable or simply par for the course.
The question is simple -can you please post the number of soft resets you have done in the last 7 days regardless of cause (unless it was an intentional reset after a software install)or build?
Me - 5

None this week - approx 1 to 2 a fortnight. (used to be much more but have carried out the various freezing remedies)
Mike

none in the last couple of weeks since i updated the ROM and added the dummy active sync settings

One per four days on average, depends on installed software.

None. I'm using i-mate's latest WWE ROM, the "generic" version - not the Telstra version, and just a hand-full of applications.
Mind you, I use Spb Backup with scheduled backups. This software does a soft reset automatically. This probably minimises the need for further resetting due to lock-ups etc.

Well... bad news. My count is at 15 for TODAY !!!
I'm trying to get this unreliable, unstable pile of Micro$hit to do push-email. Not as easy as advertised! The connection keeps dying almost immediately when the phone enters standby. Upon wakeup chances are 1:10 that a reboot is needed

None lately

Less than 1 a day
About 5 per week for the past three weeks mostly from multi-tasking and an incoming phone call. No push. No hacks either, so I could probably whittle that number down.

Thanks folks - keep them coming. Looks like there isnt a simple answer to this one yet

Running XDA-live 0.10 and all today pluginds and eMail storage on RAM:
*None*
One scheduled reset after SpB Backup at 6 a.m.
Beforehand with WM5: 3-5 a day...

About 1 a day I'd say.. Used to be about 4 a day!

I am running LVSW 20070326 and I have had to reset twice since upgrading last Friday -- device would not wake up from sleep. Never had this with WM5. Other than that, no issues.
@Applestar, how did you get Spb Backup to do scheduled backups with WM6? I tried but it fails. A manual backup works OK "with issues", when I click on the link to see what the issues are, it tells me that it was "not able to backup \Windows\compimeh.0409.dat, because NK.EXE has it blocked". I opened a ticket with Spb Software, but they told me that since WM6 has not been officially released by M$, they do not support it yet!

You are right - Spb Scheduled Backup does not work. Really lucky nothing happened the last couple of weeks

Right now, every few days. Originally, about 5 times a day.
I hard booted, loaded programs one at a time to test stability. I keep 2 Notes on my phone: Customizations (where I log any programs, tweaks, etc), and Problems (where I list every freeze up, and what was going on prior to the freeze up). What I have learned:
- I found that if I remove any program that requires internet from the today screen, it was better. It just runs from my menu vs today screen, and it runs quicker too.
- If I install programs to device, it is better. I have been able to run a couple from storage card, but it is rare.
- Keep ActiveSync closed, and do the ActiveSync work around.
- Keep programs closed (I use HTC X button) is a plus.

@Applestar, I got another response from Spb Software apologizing for their first message which they asked me to ignore (I guess someone monitoring their responses must have told the CS tech that WM6 was now in the wild!)
Anyway, she told me to try going into the Advanced options for Spb Backup and unchecking the "Stop processes before backup" option. This does work (i.e. allows scheduled backups to complete) and does appear to backup all files except the one that is causing the problem (\Windows\compimeh.0409.dat), which seems to be created on startup by NK.EXE -- I am guessing that it is a debugging file of some sort.

Your latter point is a known issue and there is a work around to avoid the error listing each time:
Edit Registry :
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Spb Software House\Spb Backup\SkipErrFiles
Add a new entry string:
Name 6
Value: %Windows%\compimeh.dat
Note there may need to be a bit of individual customisation to the entry to fit your exact error.
Also see here:

Mike

Highly depends...
Sometimes just 2 a week, sometimes 5-6 a day. Even though the same software remains on the system (I have found decent softwares that I need to accomplish what I expect to do with this device).

Thanks, Mike. However, the "workaround" you mention only removes the reported error message, it doesn't fix the "scheduled backups doesn't work" problem. For that, you have to disable "Stop processes before backup" in advanced options. IMHO, this is a "workaround" as well, I fully expect that Spb will issue a new version sometime in the near future that will offer full WM6 support.

zero this week. When I do reset its almost always due to third party software. The one bug that comes to mind is with pieplus. If I am loading a page in full screen mode and my connection gets lost (rare) it is impossible to get the window to go back to normal mode, hence a reset.
It makes me wonder if its the vendor software that causes all the problems. I have removed just about everything that was installed by 3. Voice commands, push email client, the camera business software etc. It seems because of that it now never goes wrong.
My today screen and task manager are written by myself, so they never cause any crashes

caller id monitor

Hi i have problem some times caller id show just number when someone call me sometimes(same number) show name from contacts how to fixit
Same thing here...
Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not... Actually it has only worked a couple of times...
At first I thought I was closing the ID Contact Monitor when I used an application close button (Battery Back from Omega One). But then I noticed that it still does not work even without the app closer.
Any clues?
I believe that this is probably down to the 32 process limitation of WM2003 on the XDAII 28 processes open automatically as you open programs the XDAII will close what it thinks isn't needed any more.
Can anyone confirm? :?
Hmmm... It could very well be that...
If you don't use the "permanent save" feature, then you can delete the 4 flashman files out of the \windows\startup folder.
this gives 4 more process slots. Making the number of running processes at startup more in line with a normal XDA.
wasting 4 process slots on 4 different programs that do the same thing to 4 different databases is rediculous. Having them running even when the feature is turned off is also rediculous.
..Chuck..
Yes, thanks... I deleted the task I don't use and now IACaller is working fine ever since...
Thanks!
I've upgraded to the new ROM, and only the lesser 19 processes now, meant to alleviate this problem.
In addition, it's a newer fix of Caller ID.
And even more, I removed the FOUR flashman/mem processes from startup too.
And even then, I find after just half a day of running apps and stuff, Caller ID no longer shows a photo, and requires a reboot to work properly.
Not happy at all, not in the slightest. Not in the least bit impressed, because i see little else that can be done to fix this, so no likliehood of a solution.
VERY poor to say the least.
Shadamehr,
Are you using an application closer like Pocket Plus or Wisbar?
If not, I suggest you use one. Remember that whithout an app closer you are consuming valuable resources and the X only minimizes them.
Best regards,
Rayan
I was using SideBarX.
What I find however, is that this is the WORSE thing to use, as it closes ALL apps, so if the Caller ID HAD happened to just recently update itself, it would close that too, so in effect, closing the very thing with any potential to fix things.
Alas, I find the only thing that works, is to do a soft reset twice or three times a day.
Not a great loss given how quick re-boot time is, but a bit of a stupid solution nonetheless.
Additionally, I find another slight issue, in that if I get an SMS, when I click the notification envelope on the top bar to open it (if I had left it, not catching it straight away, so the first pop up of it had already gone) then the 'speech bubble' that appears with the message in, is REALLY slow now after the new ROM update, taking a second or two to draw itself properly. I can see the outline of the bubble for a fair while before the bubble 'draws' on screen properly.
Sadly however, it even does this after a soft reset to speed things up, so I am very concerned about this aspect of things.
It worked a lot faster before the update.
The rest of the update has been a good thing for me, but I am a bit angry about the Caller ID problem still being here at least for me, but more worryingly, I am concerned at the apparent speed slow down for some things! Especially as I have read tales of others experiencing this too.
But overall, its nothing earth-shattering I guess.
Shadamehr,
As far as the CallerID problem, at first I was having the same problems but I managed to fix this by removing unwanted items on the startup folder (remember the 32 process limit?) and by using Pocket Plus, since it allows you to exclude CallerID from closing.
I also use ScaryBear Software's Check Notifications to remove duplicate events on my system's databases.
Good luck!
Rayan
Pocket Plus? Cheers mate - I'll go search now.
Here's hoping it works.
Also, the new ROM is only meant to have 19 things running. I have further removed the four flashman files from startup.
Do you know of anything else I can remove?
Cheers mate.
Can't find Pocket Plus mate (at least not as a free app).
Any link for me please?
I don't remember what things where in the Startup folder but this is the stuff I have now:
CheckAutoRun.lnk <--- No idea what this is for
ChgDfLnk.lnk <--- No idea what this is for
ClearTemp.lnk <--- I installed this
IA_Caller_ID.lnk
MMReg.lnk <--- No idea what this is for

Hi all,
I've the problem with with my XDA II and IA Caller ID. It works for one or two hours and then impossible to see a picture. The only thing to do is a soft reset.
I've checked the processes and I'm now with 16 processes (using PHM Task Manager to see the processes) and when the problem occurs, the IA_Caller_ID process is still active.
For information, I use WisBar advance to really close my programs and I kill ActiveSync every time I leave the XDA from the cradle.
Thanks for your help...
hello,
Do you put pictures in your SD Card ?
If yes, try with pictures in your phone memory.
I have the same problem with ringtone in my old Qtek (first generation SPV by Orange)
Sometimes, the sdcard is poweroff to preserve battery life...
test and come back ;-)
THe picture is in "/my documents" none on the SD card
Now it's new, sometimes the XDAII doesn't ring at all. The screen lights on but no ring and no information.

Notification que is a pain in the arse, can I say arse?

My exec seems to be getting worse daily, I have latest ROM and run in corporate mode and I have nothing else installed and yet the Notifications are really annoying me, half the time they appear and there is no dismiss button to clear them, and even when there is, they keep coming back, over and over, on sms text's, alarm's, missed calls anything and everything. I have soft reset over and over and they still come back. Now I notice my Exec was on charge all night, I have not used it other than for waking me up this morning and already battery is down to 30%, It's only 10:45am! Normally I can go home with my battery at around 70% that's after being on battery all day from an over night charge.
Not a happy chappy!
Regards
doesn't sound too normal there matey..time to ring up O2 to do some complaining? mine's an Exec prototype (ROM v: 0.61.00 WWE) and it doesnt' have such problems. i've downloaded the latest rom update but haven't done it yet coz i'm lazy and coz it remaps my keyboard (my prototype has a couple of different key locations)
looks like the latest rom update could have nasty aftereffects...i think i'll put my update 'on hold' for now~~
have you enabled repeating alarms? i find it dodgy and not really well used so had to disable it.
even spb still doesnt support it well
i believe memmaid and or pocket hackmaster has the ability to fix your notifications, or some other bear product but i dont need or use them as i dont have this problem.
FIXED!!!

Hello All!
After 3 weeks of usage of my Qtek9000:
- all the Calendar notifications dissapeared (no text, no sound);
- the Alarms did have sound and vibra, but no text and Notification softbutton on the screen;
- alarms sounds could appear on their selfs on a random time and no Text on the screen.
I've searched the forum and it learned out that it is a Notification Que Issue.
It looks that upon a time, that que is being oversized or some mess (duplicates?) happened in it.
So, after that the "Notification Que" Issue appears.
HOW I FIXED IT:
1. Get the MemMaid \ PocketMechanic app;
2. find and delete duplicates, SoftReset (SR) (no success so far);
3. delete up to 200 CALENDAR.EXE entries, (SR) (no success so far);
4. delete up to 100TASK.EXE entries, (SR) (no success so far);
5. delete .\\notificatiopn.....script... entries, (SR) (no success so far);
6. delete all repllog.exe entries (2) and SR- IT WORKS AGAIN !!! ;
From this case - I dont know which of the manipulations actually brought my notifications back alive (is that really the repllog.exe entry?)
The possible longterm solution may be a 3-rd party App, which performs scheduled Notification Que clean up?
This is a very annoying and awfull BUG in the WM5 !!!
As I don't believe the fillowing ROM releases will fix this critical bug, the only way out - is developing the system app to perform a scheduled Notification Que clean up.
All, please, give your feed back: your experience, knowledge on the subject, etc.
Thank you.
Are you using any of these editing tools that aren't WM5-compliant/compatible?
It's curious, because I (and certainly the majority of Universal users) aren't experiencing the problem you're having. I've been using mine since I set it up in November, and only did a hard reset yesterday because the device started getting a bit odd in the syncing department (my docs filenames being cut off).
In your case I would suggest doing a Hard Reset and not fiddling with the notification queue again, as teh only reason people fiddled with it before, was because of the alarm problem in WM2003.
My notification queue never filled, and I used a LOT of different programs, including beta testing for some PIM management tools.

Hello!
Yes, I will do the Hard Reset, but anyway - after some usage time, the queue will fu**k-up again.
I have 1000+ contacts (most of them with Birthdays Reminders), about 50 appointments per month, and all 3 alarms for wakening up in the morning.
The best solution, IMHO - the tool like "Notification Clear Fix - v1.2",

Originally, this script is developed for WM2003 to fix its notification queue problems.
Now, we need a same tool for WM5 (the script, or no-GUI exe), which could be scheduled to run at 03.00AM evety Sunday

What I use is ScaryBears Check Notifications. After a missed call or txt, I just run this small application on my EXEC to check if I got a script 000 notifications or any notification added to my original ones. All I have to do is press clear and it errases the script notifications and leaves the original notifications intack. Works fine on my EXEC: http://scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html

Gooroo, I had exectly the same battery problem, after upgrading to the latest o2 firmware. It made the phone virtually useless unless plugged into a power source. The fix was to upgrade to version 1.06 of the radio firmware. Version 1.06 is on this forum somewhere.
I can now use my Exec all day and have bluetooth enabled all day as well

Screen Backlight Timeout Frustration

Hi
I have some oddness going on with my Hermes, but I don't know whether it is a software problem, a ROM problem (I'm running the latest i-mate rom) or an inherent hardware problem.
I keep setting the screen backlight timeout to 1 minute or more (I hate the 10 second default), but as soon as the phone is placed into standby, it reverts back to 10 seconds.
Has anyone else experienced this? Could you try it out for me and report back? I'm so infuriated that I'm about to do a hard reset to see if the ROM is to blame.
BattleTank
Same issue. I have a T-Mobile MDA Vario II. Hard resetting doesn't help. The best I can suggest is that you uncheck the 'turn backlight off after...' That setting does stick. It's a fast way to a flat battery though if you have alarms and reminders going off when you aren't there to acknowledge them and turn the thing off again.
Oh, I'm looking forward to a ROM update...
Out of interest, do you have SPB Diary installed? I'm trying to track down a culrpit, and this is on my 'possible' list.
out of curiosity, would you happen to have goodlink installed? the backlight issue was a know problem with ver. 4.8 and below. 4.9 seems to address this.
No, I don't have SPBDiary.
No, I don't have Goodlink installed.
Installed s/ware:
SPB Pocket Plus
SPB Weather
SPB Backup
eReader
SKTools
Conuits Pocket Player
Resco Explorer (and the ftp and registry editor plugins)
Pocket RTA (real time sound analysis, in case you're interested)
Skype
TCPMP (now there's a great prog which hates the Hermes )
MS Voice Command
XnView Pocket
Interesting - the only overlaps we have are Resco and SPB Backup. I can't imagine that either of these might be responsible.
Another possibility; are you synchronising with an exchange account which automatically enforces policy restrictions? Or do you have a password set?
I did notice that on hard reset the problem went away and, actually, the default became 30 seconds instead of 10. Once I've then restored a backup (made using this same ROM version), it's back to the frustrating behavior and 10 seconds as default.
So, for my next investigation, I'm going to hard reset, then add software one item at a time.
Strange...
So...
I just did a complete rebuild, adding all the same software... and the problem has gone away.
I can think of only three possible explanations:
1. There's a problem with restored SPB backups which is causing this. I know my phone had previously been restored from a backup, and I see also you are running SPB Backup.
2. The problem is still there, but has not appeared yet - a scheduled event (again, possibly a scheduled backup) may trigger it.
3. It was caused not by installed software, but by something that has been installed and the uninstalled. One possibility on my side is TCPMP, which I've previously had installed and I see you also have installed.
I'm inclined to think it's (3), as TCPMP does alter backlight settings by design. One and two can be eliminated with time, so I'll report back.

It's a thought. This particular unit has been working on a SPB Backup from the word go. My wife put the previous unit through the wash (3 days old - boo hoo!) so I restored straight onto the replacement.

Further to this, I've just restored a backup on my 'newly built' phone and, again, we're back to 10 second timeout. It appears it's down to SPB Backup. I'm raising this with SPB, but there's no reference to it on their website.

[new release] RunEveryday - Updated to v1.1

The missing Task Scheduler known from Windows XP!
RunEveryday 1.1 is done! It has:
1) a GUI, easily manage your scheduled tasks
2) Improved notification re-scheduler (old one proved to be kind of buggy)
3) Optionally force device to wakeup (as some programs need this to operate properly)
4) Under the hood, much improved code, easier bug fixing & updates in the future
no more need to use another program to setup the parameters etc. etc, just startup the app without any parameters, and you will be presented with a config dialog. in addition, you should remove any old entries within the notification database before using this new one (they are incompatible).
Everything should wotk MUCH better with this one. but still a few known issues:
1) When changing the system date, and you skip over a day, RunEveryday will get out of sync and stops working propperly. Work around: Start RunEveryday, and without changing anything, press the "Apply" button. this will correct all time/date stamps in the notification database.
2) For now, there can't be any spaces within the filename. Spaces within the directory name are oke though. THis is because I needed to seperate the Full path file name with any command line options, otherwise CreateProcess wouldn't work propperly. (Will be fixed in next version)
3) Keyboard doesn't popup when trying to enter text in the Command line. Workaround: select other program which has keyboard support first, then open RunEveryday, so you can openup the SIP yourself. This will be fixed in next version.
Compatibility: WM2003, WM5, WM6, QVGA, VGA and Square (240x240). in Other words: all recent devices
That's it! if there's any additional problems, I'd like to hear about them.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
// Text Below is outdated
Older version 1.0 usage:
A command driven app that will maintain itself within the notification database which will execute its params as a program.
for example, run:
\Program Files\RunEveryday.exe \Windows\prog.exe anyparams
this will basically execute \Windows\prog.exe anyparams
but it will register to start the same app with same params again in 24 hours, when it runs next time, it will delete the entry, and schedule again in another 24 hours, and so forth.
With an application like TaskMan you can easily see the notification entry this prog makes, and change it's time-schedule. (in other words, manage this app)
Also, creating a new entry with TaskMan, is really simple, make a CNT_TIME event, point it to RunEveryday.exe, and the application to run as it's params, and it's all set!
// Text Above is outdated
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
My personal usage:
I have a task running every day at 23:00 -> turn radio off (with Vijay's app)
and a task in the morning 09:30 -> turn radio back on
But ofcorse you can use it for many other things! be creative!
Update to v1.1: Some people reported that they couldn't run the app because of some missing libraries. This probabbly goes for most of you WM2003 users: You need a static linked version, which I now have included below. Also, if you happen to get a message like "Cannot find ‘RunEveryday’ (or one of its components)", please try using the static linked version.
nnnnnnnniiiiiiiiiccccccccceeeee.. very niiiicccceee. Nicest thing that happened after the sad sad removal of ROMs... I'm soooo *touched..
UPDATE: Btw, an idea, for your next upgrade.. that is to add a day-of-the-week scheduling feature that is able to schedule events on days as well. Example, I may want to switch off my phone at 23:00 everyday. However, if I may went on partying late at night on Friday and Saturday. Hence, my job of "switch radio off at 23:00" can be programmed to be used on Sun-Thur only. And I can then add another job that "switch radio off at 02:00", to be performed on Sat and Sun only, just to make sure my phone won't switch off when I'm out partying on Friday and Sat night.
Thanks ;-)
And ohw, I meant TaskMgr, found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280104
Edit: Works really great with mortscript's. Lots of possibilities.

I was actualy thinking about that, but that's making things more complicated. Right now, it's fairly simple. no config dialogs requiered etc etc, as you can have multiple apps at different times, which you might want to run at different days of the week, config wise it gets more complicated, much more coding. Maybe later, if I really need it, I'll make something like it, otherwise, this will have to do (sorry). I'm simply sharing some code that I wrote since I needed it myself ;-)
Edit: oke oke, maybe I'll make a "RunEveryWorkDay" variant (still no config required) Not much code writing, will post it here later on, as soon as I have some time on my hands to make a few adjustments.
Okey, I had a little time (kind of quick, haha)
Rather then having a different EXE handling workday events, I made on which is more dynamic.
Example 1, Run only on work days (monday through friday)
\Program Files\RunEveryday.exe OXXXXXO \Windows\prog.exe anyparams
So the string "OXXXXXO \Windows\prog.exe anyparams" becomes the complete param for RunEveryday.exe
As you can see, the first block of the params has become the days for which you want it to be active, X's x's 1's are for active, O's o's 0's for days to be disabled. Days are represented in following order: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wen, Thu, Fri, Sat.
You can still simply omit those days, and it'll work as previously (ALL days):
\Program Files\RunEveryday.exe \Windows\prog.exe anyparams
Everything is still untested (in this latest release) so it might not work propperly. So if you encounter a problem -> tell me and I'll fix it.
I'm working on a much improved version. It will have:
1) a GUI, easily manage your scheduled tasks
2) Improved notification re-scheduler (old one proved to be kind of buggy)
3) Optionally force device to wakeup (as some programs need this to operate properly)
4) Under the hood, much improved code, easier bug fixing & updates in the future
Expect it to be released in the next couple of days (will post it here)
Nice app. Im going to give it a try now
Is Taskman the only app that can set the time?? Can Memmaid be used?
Everyone who has downloaded and tried the initial release, please download the new one, as it contains critical bug fixes.

See the first message in this thread, any other programs like Taskman or memmaid are no longer needed, RunEveryday is now a self-contained program with it's own user interface.
Thanks, this looks very useful, I also wanted an app to turn the radio on/off at scheduled times, Just need to find the VJ apps you use.

Thanks, I've got the files and installed them, but so far I've been unable to get it to work.
I suppose this is more of a problem with the VJ files, but I can't seem to get the radiooff to work. I have moved the binary to \Program Files so it's the same as your sample screenshot, but nothing happens, the radio remains on.
To debug, I created a .lnk file using Total Commander and added the /radiooff but that also does nothing.
I'm using a T-Mobile MDA Compact III in the UK, HTC Artemis (or is the Hero as it doesn't have Wifi?).

To get it to work, be sure to enable "Force Wakeup". The radio won't go off unless you enable this option. In addition, Vijay has a spelling error on his website, he listed the option "radioff", but in fact it should be radiooff (double 'o' in the middle) otherwise his app doesn't recognize the command.
Optionally, you can enable "Suspend when woken up", this will put the device back to sleep when command has been executed, and works nicely with Vijay's app, your device will only be active for a few seconds. I didn't document this feature: but when you have this option enabled, and the command is still executing after 30 seconds, RunEveryday times out, and will put the device to sleep (but lets the command active in background).
Hmmm, just realized what you really posted, if a loose lnk file doesn't work either, it probably is (indeed) VJ's file that doesn't work. maybe you can ask him if he can add support for your device.................................
Thanks for the prompt response.... but I've just worked out what the problem is!
I followed the screenshot on page 1 using /radioon when it should be -radioon
My .lnk files now seem to work, so I will make the changes on your app and see if it works.
I'd like to start doing my own development, I'm particularly interested in retrieving information from the radio like Operator, signal strength, serving cell etc.
Anyone any comments on usability / stability / issues ?
I would really like some feedback ;-)
I've only been using it a couple of days, but it hasn't given me any problems. The only issue I have is one that you are already aware of, and that's support of text input, or maybe copy/paste?
Hope that helps, and thanks again.
Okey, great. In the near future I'll update it to be more complient with windows-ways-of-working. (keyboard, normal dialog, copy/pasting etc), but as it's all working without problems, it's not very high priority. However, if there's any indication of some bugs somewhere, i would get right on it, cause I really do want it to be reliable.
Hi, have you managed to make any improvements to the software? My install has gone wrong, I launch RunEveryDay but the 2 tasks I had configured no longer list in the dropdown (these were to turn the phone/radio off at midnight and back on at 9am).
I did change the timezone recently when I went on a business trip, so maybe that caused the problem when I returned?

All of a sudden, alarms don't work!

Background:
ATT8525 with the ATTWM5 Rom
All of a sudden no alarm will work on this device. I have SPB Time and City Time Alarm both installed and ever since Saturday morning my daily alarms do not sound.
Thought it was a fluke at first but I've been playing with it tonight trying several different times and nothing seems to work. I even tried the built in WM5 alarm and it didn't work either.
This isn't related to the no sound issue I've inquired about in the past as right now all my OTHER sounds are working.
I've also done multiple soft resets and I've checked and double checked that my phone has the correct time and time zone.
Any ideas?
Thanks
It sounds like you have some duplicate/out of date/bad notifications in your notifications queue.
First do a full backup (just in case) then:
You need to use a 3rd party app such as Checknotifications (free), Memmaid, SK tools.
Use one of these to eliminate duplicate notifications and see if things start working again. If not, unfortunately you will have to go through each one manually. Look at the ones beginning Calendar and Clock. Make sure that the time/date for these is in the future. Delete the ones that are not. Leave alone the other notifications some of these are necessary for other processes.
See if it works now.
If not, you may have to do a hard reset. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply.
Memaid did the trip as it was a built up queue of notifications. Not sure what caused that but at least it's fixed without having to do a hard reset.
This never happened with my 8125, strange.
Also, this fixed a couple of other issues I was having.
My 8525 had stopped pairing with my automobile's BT and it did this morning, and the last few days the phone and stopped doing the first active sync of the day (at 0700) automatically. It did this morning.
Looks like I may check into purchasing Memaid. It's a handy little program.
I have to admit, it's one of the first apps on any device I own. Especially now that it has a reg editor too.
Beware, you may need to do the notifications queue clearout quite frequently, just keep an eye on it for a day or 2. I've found that if you use windows live mobile, this puts 3 or 4 duplicates on your system at every soft reset! Don't you just love microsoft applications?

Gee I wonder if the iPhone's have to do this?
Sorry, couldn't resist.
They probably would have to if they were allowed to install 3rd party applications!

Sharp answer Marisa4755 - I also think texas should be punished for that uncalled for remark; I'm thinking 6 month ban (I always was too lenient )

Oh thank you.
At first I thought you all were just ganging up on my since I'm across the pond from you all. <G>
Kinda back to my original question.
What is up with the Notification Queue? I currently have 37 "time based" entries. A few of these are obvious. But I have a whole mess named "\\.\Notifications\NamdedEvents\Scripts:0x0023B3D0" and a couple of dozen more with similar hexadecimal(?) endings.
They are all "dated to run" on September 26, 2007 at various times of the morning.
The thing is, nothing is in my calender on that date. So what in the world are those entries? Are they safe to delete?
Thanks
Don't mind us, if you play with Windows mobile, you just have to have a laugh as often as possible (makes up for all the crying!).
On your alarms/reminders/notifications etc, do you have the setting on for 'flash light'? If so, do you have this set for no limit? If so, I think these are your scripts as above. If they are set as no limit, I think they go on for around 40 days or so. So probably they relate to an event 40 ish days before 26 September.
They might also relate to some other software you are running. I understand TomTom puts some strange notifications in.
If so, they are PROBABLY fine to delete. As long as you do a full backup before touching them, then if it all goes pear shaped, just restore your backup.
Whatever you do, don't touch the repllog.exe entries. These relate to activesync and if you delete these, you will have a lot of trouble with synchronising.
If, however you do accidentally delete a repllog file that you should't, Mike has written an excellent guide on how to get it back!

Thanks. I think the message notification thing is the reason. I do have the flash light checked and their seems to be a correlation between the entries and the number of messages I currently have in OL.
Thanks again for all the help!
Hopefully I can return the favor sometime.

I hope by now you have solved your (our) problem. I was able to fix my problem by installing a free program from Burr Oak called Wakeup Tweak.
I never ever RAN the program - I just installed it. During installation, it asked me if I wanted to use default notifications and I said yes.
I then tested an appointment alarm (before running Wakeup Tweak) and the alarm worked.
Hey there... I used to have the same problem under WM5 (I think it was a known fault and the idea was to fix that for WM6). My reminders didn't work, and my alarm, initially came on but I could not dismiss it, and so came back on the moment I switched my phone back on etc. I found that using Pocket Mechanic and then deleting all 'clock.exe' entries i which have the word obsolete added under the type column solves the problem. I think some people have experienced problems doing this and it messed up their device. I, personally, never had any problems but you may want to back up things just in case. Again, it's not a long-term solution and I had to do that every couple of weeks. The deleting of duplicate notification did not, for me, restore reminders etc. I have to say ever since I upgraded to WM6 I have not had this problem so I guess Microsoft fixed this issue.
