use of streaming media program on Trinity - P3600 General

I run the RUU and found this new program, 'streaming media'. I am new with all these and have no idea how to use it.
Does it work like windows media player?
Is it possible to watch, say, NASA TV on this??

Windows Media Streaming

Hi, I have looked everywhere for this problem but no solution. I have a wizard and I want to stream windows media music and videos from my computer thru wifi. but it keeps saying ''parameter is incorrect''. I've always played music from my computer with other pocket pcs but not this one. has anyone found a solution or tweak to do this? is it a windows mobile 5 problem? thanx for any help.
How are you streaming? Using SMB shares or are you using Windows Media Encoder or the like of? If SMB shares, check you can browse the directories first.
As far as i know, Media Player can't handle networking.
I use Conduits Pocket Player. It's not free, but IMO it is the best i have tried. It's has the best format support, handles gapless playback and has plugins for album art etc.
There are free good players around, but i have not tested them with streaming, although i believe GS Player can.
TCPMP is free can also player files accross a network, but it's more of a video player really.

access media center or windows media connect from ppc

Hi,
I have a Windows XP media center PC at home connected to my network. It has a huge mp3 and movie collection as well as TV card for recording TV on it.
So now, if possible, with my new Hermes I would like to connect to my media center, listen to audio and watch recorded TV, and other movies (divx)
is there any way to do this ?
any application that would do ?
There is an application named Rudeo Control at:
http://www.rudeo.com/mce.htm
But is this only for controlling ? or does it also receive streaming from the PC ?
if there is no easy way and/or application I would also be happy to reach it at least for my mp3 files through file manager on PPC. at least is this possible ?
Not sure about Windows Media Center but you can see your networked shares using Resco Explorer. You just map a share then you can stream any media.
I remember setting windows media encoder up with my old IPAQ and just used the inbuilt media player to watch asf streams. Im sure there is a better solution now though.
Have a look at:-

It might be what you're looking for.

Best software to connect WM6 device to PC?

Im looking for the best software out there that will let me access any of my computers files via my Wing (Herald) on the go.
I know there were programs you can emulate your actual desktop with, I used to have one on my PSP. It literally remotely controlled my PC, something like this would be nice, but I basically want to have easy access of all my computers files on my Wing.
Can anyone suggest where to start?
You can try www.LogMeIn.com I have not tried it personally but heard that they recently announced their mobile version.
Regards,
Carty..
thats pretty neat, thats like the PSP one I had. You can control the desktop and such.
Although something im more interested in is using files on my PC on my phone. Like music. I'd like to be able to launch my computers music onto my phone. Same with pictures and everything else.
If you want to stream music, movies and documents from your PC, you should look into getting orb http://corp.orb.com/download_orb It can even stream live TV like a slingbox if you have a TV tuner on your video card, and it's totally free

I concur. Orb is the winner in my book. No software needed to install on your PPC to hog precious space. And it just works great.
to get desktop access
one can also use therminal services which is included in wm
or vnc which is a very popular tool with support from windows , linux and mac and prob others

Watch NASA TV Live with WMP on Pocket PC
The mobile version of Windows Media Player also plays audio and video streams fine at the S-Meter mobile site.
Go to this link from a web-enabled Pocket PC and you can use WMP to watch live NASA TV space shuttle coverage:
http://www.smeter.net/mobile/nasa/public-tv.php
Go to this link and you can listen to a ham radio receiver in Salt Lake City:
http://www.smeter.net/mobile/slc/audio.php
At this one you can listen to a ham radio receiver in Dallas:
http://www.smeter.net/mobile/dallas/audio.php
Other WMP compatible media is available at the S-Meter mobile site. See the S-Meter desktop computer home page for more WMP mobile media URLs:

I'm getting the same problem! Does Anyone have solved this?

DLNA compatible player for playing media from the LAN?

I have a NAS server with Twonky media server which is DLNA compatible, so devices like the Playstation 3 can stream audio and video off the network.
Anybody knows about a DLNA compatible player for the Diamond / Pocket PC platform?
Media Player 11 for Windows Vista is compatible, se also http://www.twonkyvision.com/Products/TwonkyMedia/devices.html
I think it would be cool if I could use the Diamond as a kind of "wireless" device for playing music when I'm home!
help please
I too have a NAS server, and woud like to know if this is possible. I can not check myself, as the touch pro has not released in the US. Any help wouldbe appreciated. Thanks.
BUMP
Tversity may be
I managed to get TVersity working for playing video but the performance wasn't that great, maybe because of the transcoder settings. I need to give it another go when I rebuild my server as it is dying at the moment.
Here is how I did it:
- Install FlashLite 3.1
- Start Opera and go to http://ipaddress: port/flashlib
Navigation is a bit slow but it works. Haven't tried music but you could give Pocket Player with the UPnP plugin a go. You might need Hamachi if you are not at home
To answer my own question - I guess Lobstertunes http://www.lobstertunes.com/
could be an alternative. The GUI seems dated though and the each tune show up twice in the listings...
thought it'd be easy
I really thought it would be easy to find a UPnP DLNA Media player for pocket pc, but I was way off. You'd think this would be one of the basics these days.
where is UPnP
I have had trouble finding A DLNA/UPnP client/player that works on 6.5.x for a long time now. Can't find one that works for android either.
Quite annoying the progress windows mobile has made through all these years.
I've been looking for a media player dlna compliant for WM 6.5.3.
Finally I found pocket player 4.0 (by Conduits). One catch once the program is installed you will have to update the plugins for Upnp support. To do this goto "menu" --> "More...." --> "Options...." then choose the plugin tab..."update now".
But I have to admit it works like charm with my Iomega IX2 acting as media server. Album art is also supported.
Not for free but much better than all the junk apps i've run into sofar.

Thank you so much for this post. When the time comes to retire my TP2, I will use it as a DLNA client. I've been looking for this software for quite a while.
Would it support Plex and myPlex?

I'm on my 3rd TouchPro 2. (I went through scads of XV6600's during the six year love affair the carriers had with tiny screens.)
Would this app work as a client for Plex? Even better, could it be used remotely over the internet with a myPlex login?
