Windows Media Streaming - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi, I have looked everywhere for this problem but no solution. I have a wizard and I want to stream windows media music and videos from my computer thru wifi. but it keeps saying ''parameter is incorrect''. I've always played music from my computer with other pocket pcs but not this one. has anyone found a solution or tweak to do this? is it a windows mobile 5 problem? thanx for any help.

How are you streaming? Using SMB shares or are you using Windows Media Encoder or the like of? If SMB shares, check you can browse the directories first.

As far as i know, Media Player can't handle networking.
I use Conduits Pocket Player. It's not free, but IMO it is the best i have tried. It's has the best format support, handles gapless playback and has plugins for album art etc.
There are free good players around, but i have not tested them with streaming, although i believe GS Player can.
TCPMP is free can also player files accross a network, but it's more of a video player really.

hi,
I tried the vlc port for windows mobile (0.83 I think), not for streaming but just local playing and I found that it sucked. Compared to betaplayer it is way less performance and files have to have a very low bitrate to be played correctly. You could give it a try, there is a port available but you have to expect performance problems.

access media center or windows media connect from ppc

Hi,
I have a Windows XP media center PC at home connected to my network. It has a huge mp3 and movie collection as well as TV card for recording TV on it.
So now, if possible, with my new Hermes I would like to connect to my media center, listen to audio and watch recorded TV, and other movies (divx)
is there any way to do this ?
any application that would do ?
There is an application named Rudeo Control at:
http://www.rudeo.com/mce.htm
But is this only for controlling ? or does it also receive streaming from the PC ?
if there is no easy way and/or application I would also be happy to reach it at least for my mp3 files through file manager on PPC. at least is this possible ?
Not sure about Windows Media Center but you can see your networked shares using Resco Explorer. You just map a share then you can stream any media.
I remember setting windows media encoder up with my old IPAQ and just used the inbuilt media player to watch asf streams. Im sure there is a better solution now though.

It might be what you're looking for.

In my case, i get the video but not the sound>>>> Interesting.... I also used mms:// location to load the video file... Windows Media Player 10 for mobile is not the same as that of windows-xp one ... however, they should not miss the basic things...
any ideas boys and girls... on this issue..
Hi, in you media player options, go to the network tab, and set it to 128 or higher, and uncheck detect internet connection speed, it should play video then.
your the best its working
thanks my friend
thank you also. It works great

Any one tried orb?

I just downloaded and installed Orb on my home PC and after a few minutes setting up i can now remotely access my Sky+, VCR, DVDs and photos, music documents and videos on the PC all from my MDA Pro (or indeed any broadband connected PC) anyware its connected to the internet.
It uses Internet explorer and Windows media player on the PPC so there isn't even any software to install in our precious memeory.
And it WORKS (You need a media centre type pc to get live tv streamed) Considering how complex this all is I was amazed that for once it all worked with out hours of endless tweaking, and its free.
If only the media player display was proper full screen...sigh

i tried to get it working but it wouldn't see my tv card :sigh:

I set it up to use TCPMP, which plays full screen.

How do you set TCPMP to be the default player for the various media? I read a couple of posts in various forums that say that media player starts up for live streams from orb even with TCPMP installed
Not got it in front of me right now, but I belive I simply set the file associations in TCPMP to handle the streams.

Just set asx of file associate to TCPMP in option menu.
But best way should be upgrade your rom to WM6.
The Windows Media Player 10 boundle in WM6.
It's support full screen and more smooth than TCPMP in streaming play.

How to play recorded videos on computer?

Hey guys, did a search and couldn't find anything, I am trying to play a video I recorded on my Hermes running WM6 on my computer, I get video, but no sound, anyone know what codec I need?
Try VLC media player
Presumably the video files are .MP4 from your Hermes??
Have a look at VLC media player - a freeware media player available for multiple platforms. Get it from HERE.
Post back if it works, then other users can benefit too
Cheers,
Mark.
The video plays fine on VLC as well as Windows Media player 11 and Media Player classic, but I get no sound.
