Atom has lots of problem
Atom speaker problem is one the problems that atom has. Is it atom or atom exec? I just dumped my atom because the biggest problem that I was facing was the echo at the other end during the phone call. Now I have switched over to Atom Zinc, which I have been using for last 2 months. I had upgraded my rom till the latest, no use..

i got same problem with my first Atom. the only solve is changing u,r main board. send it to service center
is there something which we can do about it i mean speaker change
or any hardware manual so that i can replace the speaker or any tweaks
Please reply

It's not the speaker itself. It can't add eny echo, it will only play what the sound chip sends to it. So there's no use in changing anything else than the sound chip, which on a regular computer would mean a 10 dollar sound card upgrade. On a PDA it's a full motherboard change, though.
Mastiff u r rite. i,ve go thru it.
speakers
hi,
i had the same problem with my ATOM.
if you can listen to music with your earphones and it is sound OK then the electronics probably OK, and the problem is with the speakers!
i replaced the 2 speakers myself and know it is OK.
If you are out of warranty, then you can consider replacing the speakers on your own – not so difficult job. You can order them on e-bay.

somebody please...
this is weird!!! when i blow the back opening it plays the sound!!! i realized that this is really a loose connection, whew!!! good thing it has a warranty!!! can you please help me downgrade it to its original O2 asia wwe rom, currently i have the 1.11 wwe rom? its for warranty purposes... they might say that the warranty is voided because i changed the rom. I have the dump rom already but i dont know what to do with it... I hope someone can help... Tnx....
Happened to me the same after a crash down.
It's hardware problem.
Good Luck.
Same problem. And i also found blowing sometime produces sound. I think I dropped it. I have sent it in for repair. Hopefully get it back this week. Bought a BT headset just before I sent it back, and it arrived the day i sent the xda off
what do you mean by
"when i blow the back opening it plays the sound"
No sound
I've seen many cases whereby the headset mode doesn't disengage, which is why from the speaker side, there is no sound however when you plug the earpiece into the jack it work perfectly. In some cases this can be reactified by a hard reset, but I think that there is something wrong with the 2.5mm connector internally. O2 (Maybe even HTC) refuses to acknowledge this fault, so the only thing is to send in the set.
Just my thought.
i had the same problem
the reason was the earphone plug in was stuck,i dodnt know how and why,but it fixes as soon as i plug in again the earphones and move it around...try it
reg...what do you mean by:
you know the opening in the back, the one near the mirror, strange but funny my mini plays MP3s like a harmonica HAHAHA!!!, I got it repaired already... the service center said that the speaker was defective so they replaced the speaker and the mouth piece cause they dont match, thank God!!! eniwei, thanks for the info guys...
sometimes my i-mate jam loses system sounds from main speaker especially when headphones are attached and then detached. it means that it doesn't ring when somebldy calls me, or it doesn't play music from main speaker, though I still can speak and hear from phone speaker. when the headphones are returned to the place everything seems to be ok, soft reset doesn't help. this is the second jam with the same problem among my friends, please help!
i think this has been discussed b4..it has to do with the fragile audio port on your mini..apparently the contacts not too good so when you remove the headset, the JAM still thinks you have it on.
i tried fiddling with the audio jack and the headset a lot.. i don't have any sound on my speakers since over a week now...i can talk properly - and have set it for vibrate..hard reset also didn't work...

thanks, I heared something about that but could not find the topic. so what can be done to get rid of the problem without going to service? is there something I can do myself?
or is there a possibility that devices mady under other brands will function better? i have a chance to exchange my i-mate for brand new mda compact with little cash on it. i realise that this is the same device, but may be some difference in quality?
ihave just read a thread about this problem. they say insert your headphone jack then remove it quickly. ive never experienced this problem yet with my imate new jam. hope not
Try flicking the ear-piece area with your finger. Had to do this to my wife's mini when she dropped it both times. It seems the speaker looses contact when bumped. HTH.
Hi,
Was driving home yesterday when I noticed my Tom Tom voice instructions started to break up. I thought it was just a little glitch and thought nothing move about it.
However today I was trying to play a sound and got nothing. I tried it a couple of times and it played and then started to break up too.
Since then I am getting no sound. I can hear sound fine using the headphones and when I get a call I can hear the caller fine, but if I go onto Speaker Phone I hear nothing.
I tried a soft reset then a hard reset but neither worked.
I have just finished upgrading to the latest ROM but it is still not working.
Has anyone else had this? Is there a secret fix I have missed?
Has anyone sent their JAMin for warrantly work in the UK. If so how long is the turnaround?
Regards
Hi. Used to have this problem when I had the Jam and the JAMin seems to use the same design when it comes to speakers (part of the reason why I didn't get a JAMin when upgrading.)
If it's the same problem as on the Jam hopefully the fllowing will help.
When you plug in headphones or speakers to the socket there is a loose connection. This then sometimes makes the phone think headphones are still plugged in even when they are not! The way I solved it was by playing some music on media player then half plugging the headphones in and wiggling the connector around until I heard sound through the speakers. I also found I could use the tip of the stylus to correct the loose connection. Some people said it worked just by plugging and unplugging their headphones several times.
This thread is where the problem was discussed when on the JAM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=42949
Another thread that might help is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18384
dead speaker
If after a hard reset your speaker still has no sound, then it's probably dead. Sad to say, HTC is at fault for using such low quality speakers. I am a victim myself. Go to PPCSG. The prob is so common in Singapore that the service center has run out of speaker parts!
Speaker hardware replaced
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=50392
read somewhere that this speaker problem was inherited from the magician?
can anyone verify that this speaker failing problem was inherent even in the magician?
if this is the case, then we will have doubts about PPCs coming out from HTC..
I heard about the Magician PDA speaker defects as well although I did not have such a problem with my old Magician but I had to get the Phone speaker replaced. It looks like they used the same Magician hardware in the new Prophet.
hi i have a problem with my jamin. i cant hear any music in it neither i can use speakerphone. others is fine. i hard resetted the device but still same. plz help me to solve this problem
same thing hapen to my dopod. the speaker just lost it yesterday.
seems like the speaker interconnect is loose. had to sent it for service. poor workmanship I'd say.
not the connector issue...
more like a poorly designed circuitry/power management for the speaker..
either that or the speaker specs werent proper for the power supplied..
either way..
apparently, this problem was inherited since the magician ..
same speakers or same circuitry for the prophet...
hi i have a spv m5000 (htc universal) with jcwrights 2.02.02 rom is was working today worning but in the afternoon the sound does not come, when i use headphones it works perfectly i havent dropped the phone or nothing could someone please help thanks
Plug in and plug out the earphones several times to re-route the sound to speakers.

It's your headphone jack
Theres a problem wit hyour headphone jack, i think the bit inside that works out if there are headphones in the device or noot has got stuck to thinking there are always headphones in the slot.
The solution to this is to put the headphones in and out til lyou get sound back, maybe do a soft reset. I dunno I started to get it on my last uni but i had that replaced due to scren failing.
i have no idea?, i put it in and out maybe 100 time it still doesnt work please help me please will pay donation to the soloution which works! please
hello, i have sent it for htc repairs hopefully some result has anybody ever sent it for repairs
hi samzurai,
I have exactly the same problem as you. did you manage to solve it somehow?
I had same problem solved it this way.
when sound does not start put stylus in the headfone jack turn it a bit and take it out
that should get your sound again

Same thing happened to me...listened to WMP through headphones...take the headphones out & NO SOUND!!! I could put the headphones back in and hear sound, but NO sound on the phone or sound from WMP w/o the headphones. I G-E-N-T-L-Y moved the 2.5 jack in and out of the audio jack and the sound almost instantly came back...repeat as necessary!
