Can anyone point me to a thread that shows the wiring diagram/pinouts for the Hermes USB connector please? Have been searching but I can't find it.
I have a car kit which powers the device, mutes the radio and uses bluetooth to take incoming calls, but I want to take left/right/ground off the connector so I have tomtom through the stereo which in turn gets muted on calls.
Any other suggestions would be great thanks.

Hello all,
My Qtek 2020 (Himalaya PH10B) fell on the floor with the headphones on, and the mini-jack for connector for the headphones broke inside it.
I successfully opened it, and I was able to see the damages. I can see only 6 pins that connected the mini-jack plug to the main board, and it seems that there could be a seventh that got broken...
Would anyone of you know of a closeup picture of this headset plug/connector ? Do you know if it is possible to find a new one ? If not, mine looks reparable still, but I would feel reassured if I knew the exact connection here
Thank you in advance for your help.
Cheers
Thomas

Thank you for your answer Rudegar,
I re-soldered the connector, and I realized that a pin was indeed missing. I actually found it freely moving inside the PDA, but I could not solder it back to the connector. The results ? Well, it still does not work, unfortunately... With the headset on, it is mainly okay (there is still a little contact problem) but *withou* the headset, it still has no sound...
So :
1) Can I find this connector somewhere ?
2) Is there a way to tell the PDA not to check for the headset, and use the main speaker all the time ?
3) Would it change anything if I bought a blutooth headset ?
Thank you in advance !
Cheers

1.) i doubt it would be a cheap option if htc had a special connector made just for their phones so i'd asume they use some sort of std component
and maybe there even is a partNr og serial on the connector
which could be used to find a replacement in R&S catalog
http://www.rs-components.com/index.html
2.) no pretty sure the switch between headset and internal speaker is don in hardware and software cant control it
3.) no with bluetooth headset you just dont use the audio connector which mean it would be empty and you'd have no sound on the pda
but it would prob solve poor contact issue of your current headset
Thank you Rudegar !
I am going to re-open it and check if I can find any serial # on the component. It looks like it is my best option. Obviously, if I find something, I will post it on that forum, so that other people can know...
Thanks again !

bear with me on this one while I try to explain...
I have an o2 XDA Exec that has tomtom 6 on it
I want to use the phone/sat nav, while on my bike
I have got a Starcom Advance - http://www.starcom1.com/ that is all working on the bike
Now, I do not want to use bluetooth if I can avoid it....
The starcom has a seperate connector for the phone and for satnav. (Both 3.5mm jacks)
I think that if I can find a 3.5 mm double male lead then I am hoping I can just plug it into the xda and the starcom - but what lead do I need? (Needs to allow the microphone to work btw)
I am hoping that some kind person knows what lead is needed so I can source one from maplins etc.... or that it just will not work!
I have the same problem! I use the Intraride system, but it's exactly the same set-up as the StarCom (used to have one) The solution I found was something like the Ericsson bluetooth handsfrees. They come with a detachable earpiece, so you can connect the units to the intercom using the phonelead that should have been supplied in the intercoms box.
First option is the HBH-20, there is one on ebay now for next to nothing.
HBH-20 Ebay Clicky
I then tried the HBH-200, which is similar, but includes a CallerID function. Nothing on ebay, but here is a link so you can see what I mean:
Clicky
Both devices are the size of a box of matches, so no troubles there! What I did find is that both units can be querky with the bluetooth connection, (down to the phone not the handsfree and this was on the OE o2 ROM, and one of the cooked WM6 versions) and also the volume was a bit quiet. Solution I've gone with now, is to swap my SIM into a normal phone (Nokia 6310i and universal adapter) and just plug that in. I also had good results with the Motorola V50 which has a 2.5mm connection that will just plug straight in.
Hope you find something that works for you! Although if anyone knows of an adapter to allow normal 2.5mm handsfrees to be connected to the 3.5mm socket on the universal...I'd love to know too! I have already looked at the adapters from Expansys, but these only allow PC type headsets to be connected (ie those with a separate 3.5mm headset and earphone lead)

what is this about, if gps is not working, why do they sell it::
http://cnn.cn/shop/8525tytnhermes-antenna-p-1615.html
ya, this doesn't make much sense.
Looks to me like a TYPO that should read GPRS or external antenna for car with the connector on the cable. BUT it would get a few buying it first and finding the mistake afterwards wouldn't it!
Yeah, it won't work although it is a GPS booster. I use the same make with my tomtom. It would only help plugging it into a GPS receiver that in turn is connected to the TyTn by cable or bluetooth - not as they show it directly to the Hermes.

I'm looking for something like the Brodit active, I don't want to mess around having to push the usb in manually so it's got to be already in the holder so I just slide the phone into place. I'm not so worried about needing landscape/keyboard. Only thing I have against the Brodit Active is no speaker, since some tosser made the kaiser with a naff speaker that points away from me.... I need some boost. (My N95 nokia with it's stereo front facing speakers would make the passengers jump with sat nav instructions at motorway speeds... full volume on the kaiser and I can't even have the radio on it's so dim).
Any suggestions? Or do I have to go with Brodit and make do with no radio and driving below 50mph?
Greg.
STFF (Search the Fracken Forum), you'd find THIS THREAD and a few others with several active car kits that include speakers.
Closing yet another redundant thread.
Oh yeah reminder, one of the things that screws up the forum search function is 5 million threads all asking the same question.
Hi, I have a THB Bury kit with a hard wired (not Blue tooth) Kaiser mount, the audio from the speaker is fine but the Mic quality in a call is awfull with buzzing and noise! to the point it is unusable most of the time.
ive checked the install and everything seems fine, moved the mic to the bottom of the rear veiw mirror and tried various other locations without improvment, ive had a look arround the web for this fault and although it is mentioned as a possible design flaw i cant find much info on a fix.
has anyone had experience of this or any suggestions??
The car is 2001 Volvo V40 20T and the kit is Bury TakeTalk with controller mounted under glove box, speaker is mounted on left kick panel and mic is now mounted on bottom of rear view mirror!
Cheers

THB = Total Heap'o Bobbins
Hi Mark,
I have exactly the same problem.
Someone suggested to me (can't remember if it was on here on on another car forum I'm on) that there ia an issue with the mic connection pin from cradle to docking connection.
The suggestion was to disconnect/reconnect, but I have tried and given up on this.
Pretty poor show for something that cost a total of £150 with both the System8 kit and then the cradle. My TyTn/Hermes cradle never had this trouble - and don't get me started on the fact I had to buy a new one due to the slightly offset usb connection........
