Hi all,
To be honest, I don't know why many ppl complain about the EXEC.
I have been using mine for a month now.
I never did any rom upgrade, just use the original O2 rom, apart from installing it via the corporate install (o2 ext is too slow and big/useless). Then I notice my speed is quick, everything is fine. Stable and no problem. Even Tomtom 5.1 never failed on my device.
I never encounter the slowliness or bugs that other ppl is talking about with my original rom.
Does anyone else agree with me?
To be honest, I think perhaps the buggy version is the original HTC rom.
I do agree with you. To be honest, I do feel it's slower than my old XDAIIs, but that's probably because the programs haven't been properly optimised for WM5 and WM5 itself is still very buggy. Yet, it's still very useable and I don't feel that it's too slow for regular usage. It has also been perfectly stable!
To be honest for me it sucks..
Changed to corporate install yet too slow.
Available storages (RAM and Flash) to less around 40-50 meg each.
Some of programs doesn't work when installed on SD storage.
And yet to get Tomtom running..
Feeling disappointment with Exec.

I only saw a glimpse of an Exec in action so I couldn't really judge the speed, but I hope you're wrong about that. The 2s is horribly slow!
The XDA2 performed almost as fast as a device with a 400mhz processor should. The XDA2s had an improved processor and memory and yet managed to be much slower and far less stable. The XDA Exec has a far faster processor and yet manages to run even slower?!?!?! WTF?!?! Does nobody else see a problem here?
Perhaps if HTC tried to make their next PPC slower it will end up performing better? I mean, my 400mhz, 128mb RAM XDA2s struggles to run a simple caller ID program quick enough for me to tell who is calling before they hang up.
My 10mhz (guesstimate) nokia 5110 in 1998 had working caller ID. This leads me to a simple conclusion: either we're lied to about proccessing power and memory specs of our PPCs OR the people who program windows mobile are ****tards. I'm leaning towards the second option
Why not just do soem simple product testing and spend 2 weeks resolving issues before selling these things as a working product?! I'm sure it wouldn't kill them!
Rant over.
I think the slow came from WM5 CE ROM , I did try Dopod 900 ROM flush to O2 Exec the speed better than O2 ROM
Xda IIs if upgrade to WM5 and overloack to 530 that speed better than Exec , but depend how you used and how you look for ,I think you remember how we used pentium II or III or Iv samething will come with PPC.
mike freegan - I'm with you regarding the lack of product testing. I use PDAs and Smartphones from Symbian and Palm so I know what sort of quality one should expect. A lot of PPC/WM5 users (fans?) say that the JJ/Exec is a PDA and therefore we should not epxect too much from the phone functionality. Well I disagree as the JJ/Exec has video and voice calling - why have these if they are not really functional? I am certain the issue is software development, integration & testing. I think we'll have to wait 6 months before WM5 problems have been sorted, in time for Vista! Also regarding speed, this is to do with the hardware architetcure. Using flash memory for persistent storage does make the overall performance slower and the high res screen must require more processing for rendering etc. So I think we need to wait for JJ II or Exec2 for hardware improvements (like more fast RAM).
Don't know about the Exec vs XDAIIs, but my JasJar is a definite step forward from my PDA2K.
I haven't experienced any of the millions of problems being reported either, so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones!
tested a friend's xda exec (can't seem to find a good deal for a universal here in the US) and it works fine ... as for myself, i'm stuck with my o2 xda 2s until a good option for me to get either the xda exec, htc wizard or the sonyericsson p990 ...
since upgrading my xda 2s with O2 UK's latest ROM i've rarely reset my phone. the only major upgrade i did with O2 UK's ROM was to upgrade the radio to 1.13 ... never had any problems with it and use both the blackberry connect and the exchange active sync functions on it and it works fine ...i've used the terminal services and VNC functions on my phone to log on to the different servers i maintain within a local network and from externally and they have a good connections the only issue would be the obvious limitation of screen size .... bluetooth is ok compared to my sony ericsson p910i but the 2s is more of a pda than the p910 ....
can't wait for my next upgrade .... damn if only the US would actually realize that we're 4 years behind everybody else when it comes to mobile technology ....
@difensore, is the Treo 700w an option for you on Verizon using Evdo (which is better for speed then the Euro UMTS)
I'm using JasJar for over one month now, and I can say that it's a fantastic device, there is no doubt there are some bugs, but due to the softwares installed on devices which had no enough time to be tested properly.
If you want to proove this, just hard reset your device, and use it before installing any software and you will see the difference, with me it worked like a charm.
Universal is a fantastic and amaizing device.
It's a new technology, the smallest and the lightest lap top I've ever seen.

This is true if you've left all the o2 software running on it. Without the o2 software and with proper task managers running, it runs as fast as any Pocket PC should. Not as quick as a wish, but enough to function very well as both a phone and a Pocket PC!
This applies to both the XDAIIs and the XDA EXEC, in my humble opinon!
If anyone has removed *every* O2 active application from the startup and it still runs slow, I'd love to hear from you guys!
Even though I've only had my device for 2 weeks, I'm already looking for the next model. I find that I'll need the SanDisk WiFi/256MB combo as I want to run the Skype, SJPhone, and Network tools from the SD card rather than use up the precious RAM. At the moment I have the Spectre WiFi card but need some extra memory.
I know, I know, someone will ask "why not use BIG STORAGE?" the reason why I won't do that is because I have a full one year's warranty on my device and should I sell my device in 6 months time (if I find a suitable upgrade model), the value would increase given that there are some warranty left for the buyer.
I didn't jump on the WM5 bandwagon yet or the new WM5 devices due to early undetected issues. Usually after 4-5 months, a lot of the early problems will be sorted by firmware releases. But yes, I plan to upgrade to the WM5.0 model in about 6 months time. But I'm starting to really like my mini
I'm getting 4 hours of continuous video play (not streaming) on my mini which I'm really happy. I have bluetooth on all the time as well.
My ideal upgrade would be the Dopod 818 Pro. All the accessories for my mini can be used with the Dopod Pro. But my main concern would be the CPU speed...I've configured my mini to run the software I need including about 5-6 plugins and a concern would be how slow the Dopod Pro would be with the same s/ware config as my mini.
Second on my list is the E-Ten M600 which I think blows the mini away with the Samsung processor which is much faster than the Intel equivalent. The M600 screen is also amazing and better than any PDA screens on the market today. Only thing is that the M600 is slightly bigger than the mini and doesn't look as good compared to the mini.
At the moment both Dopod Pro and the M600 still have early teethering problems but should be sorted in a few months time. But the mini growing so much on me right now, I may just decide to keep using it and upgrade maybe next Christmas.
The M600 is made of plastic from what I know, but also some of the new HTC devices are completely made of plastic so that might not be an alternative. There is the HTC Hermes unofficially said to be released in the first half of this year which offers UMTS and will be similar to the Wizard.
If you need WLan badly, then I would consider changing to another device, otherwise, I wouldn't give away my Magician. I also prefer Windows Mobile 2003 from WM5. The speed is often said to be slower with new devices using WM5, even when they have a faster CPU.
That's true M600 is made of plastic but that's not an issue for a lot of people. The thing I like about the M600 is the Samsung CPU (I tested the Samsung 300MHz CPU on the HP rx1950 running WM 5.0 and it was amazingly fast!) and the new tech LCD screen plus it already has working A2DP bluetooth functions, WLAN, and although camera is only 1.3MP but is comparable with the Nokias. The Dopod 818 Pro (Prophet) camera is the best 2.0MP in any PocketPC but maybe let down by poor CPU performance.
WM5.0 will gradually improve within 6 months time as more s/ware developers improve their s/ware to be WM5 compatible. Initial release bugs bugs will be ironed out of the WM5 devices.
The Magician is truly a striking PocketPC handheld no doubt about that. I won't consider any devices larger than the Magician/O2 mini but M600 is an exception (only a few mm longer and thicker). The whole point of a PocketPC phone is to have it small, light and fits nicely into your pocket like the Nokias not look like bricks in your hand :-D
I think O2 Atom, HTC Prophet (Dopod 818 Pro), and the M600 are the closest to Magician in terms of size and cosmetic features.
On the PPCSG forum people are not experiencing any performance problems with the 200MHz OMAP processor. More clock speed does NOT necessarily mean more performance. Look at the AMD vs Intel scenarion on the PCs for example! It's all about MIPS.
My next purchase will be the Dopod 818 Pro. The camera is amazing, and with a proper task manager that closes programs rather than minimising them, the speed is more than acceptable. More battery life is also welcome!
skype
hi noob,
you also can use skype on your magician after you have synced your jam via bluetooth with your pc.
i use it and there is no problem. you also can use many apps like this if you sync your jam via bt with your pc

serhataga
what do u think about t-mo compact II?
hi serhataga,
what a great idea...didn't think of that one. will give it a go....kinda of using the mini as a headset.... :-D
The T-mobile MDA Compact II is the HTC Prophet (also sold as Dopod 818 Pro). I like to get my hands on one and test it for myself but unfortunately in Australia, O2 and i-Mate are the HTC resellers. No Dopod or MDA brands and buying from overseas will be a headache especially with warranties.
The biggest advantage of the MDA Compact II is that you can keep using your magician accessories with it, your cases, chargers, screen protectors, stylus etc. Also the camera is undoubtedly the BEST on any PPC to date. The CPU maybe a concern especially it's only running at 200MHz. It's fine for some users but for others it's just too slow. Best to test out a shelf display model at your local store before making a decision whether to buy.
If you are in Australia like me, you'll have to wait till i-Mate releases their version of Magician II.
I think, at least in germany, the MDA compact 2 is based on the HTC Charmer, not the Prophet. The Charmer is kind of a bad joke, since it has the (yes, it definitely is) slower 200 MHZ OMAP CPU and no WLan or keyboard. This makes it a very bad choice if you ask me. The prophet hasn't been release in germany as well, same with the Atom, which seems to be the most interesting at the moment (what about the quality of its camera by the way?).
That's right Dandie, the MDA Compact II is not like the Dopod 818 Pro. It is basically the same as the Magician but has WM5 and the OMAP processor. The prophet has more hardware buttons, 2MP camera and WiFi 801.11g! The real Magician II!!
I love my Imate Jam to death. I will not sell it but maybe give it away to my wife cos I want it to stay in the family.
I have only two devices in mind to replace my Jam... it would either be the O2 Atom or the Eten M600.
I would prefer the Atom because of it's size and built-in radio. As for the M600, I would have it compete directly with HTC because of its affordable price and a different interface.
As for my Jam, I am a very proud owner and I am glad about the progress made to it to bring new life into it. From the Big Storage Rom to A2DP and improve BT. Despite being lagged of not being able to be moved to WM5, it sure is putting up a fight and that's what I like about it... being an underdog and coming out shining.
I couldn't resist any longer and ordered a Dopod 818 pro from Expansys HK, in stock and very well priced!
The JAM is a beautiful device and the Prophet is based on it! Plus WM5, Wifi, much better camera and EDGE ...
As a side note, the 02 Atom was very tempting but the initial feedback from the people who bought it is not encouraging at all. On PPCSG forums, people who bought the Atom went back from their decision and changed it with the Prophet. The built quality of the Atom was not satisfactory, buggy software and sloooooow.
kta, give us a review of the Dopod Pro in two weeks time as to its performance. Definitely want to know about the CPU performance.
Sure, no problem
The Magician is the pioneer for a mobile phone/pda combo. You can't help but want it due to it's small size form factor. Forget about the Wizards and Universals...Magicians are the coolest PDA-Phones today
well..until the Dopod 818 Pro and E-Ten M600 take over
Hi mates, i'm going to break the line and will change to Nokia N70, less buggy and with fully funtional BT. ( F.O. Htc)
I only have a Magician now but here is what I found from recent PDA phone
I think O2 Atom is a better replacement for Magician. It even smaller than Magician and has built-in A2DP and wifi. The only drawback is it use mini-SD and we have to give up our investment on SD card.
818 Pro doesn't have build-in A2DP yet (People said they will have it in the future but who knows....) Battery life of 818 Pro is better but people complaints about it's lagginng when running multiple programs. Also, Skype is not running very good on 818 pro.
Here is a benchmark test on various PDA phone: http://forum.mypdacafe.com/viewtopic.php?t=7796&sid=77e4cfd56835b0f3e33dc0da98fd7780 U may found Atom is not very attractive in the test. But for me, the 200mzh CPU of 818 Pro really worry me most....
Only one device will make me change :
The upcoming MIO Mitac A701 !!!
WOW.

I'm surprised you say this. Just look at the your own posted benchmarks, and the 416MHz on the Atom is not really a good alternative!
Woohoo..E-Ten M600 killed 'em all at benchmark....
Atom's slowness could be a firmware issue but expect it to do better in tests 6 months time.

Wow the Mio PDA-Phone is to die for but only thing isthat it lacks Wi-Fi, but GPS is a good compromise.....it's also around the size of a Magician
its like taking a step back in time this device is much slower than my 2 year old m1000 and keeps crashing. I slept in this morning the phone crashed (no alarm).
I love the form factor however compared to my m1000/xda
is the older magician as slow?
Readin your subject...
It hardly seams like a good advert to the phone, I have owned all XDA's and yet not the fastest is still much quicker than an xda 1, 2 and low and behold it leaves the silly xda 2i standing.
Think about it! its almost half the size, its the same when you have a laptop the smaller you go the lower the spec in many cases.
Try over clocking it. I get very good performance from it and from a point of view from someone who has every version they sell (except the Universal) I have to say this is the best one they sell. its speck on some of the items is much more than you could expect.
Ok the phone has a few problems with the ROM but thats also what you expect.
Dont putting down a excellent phone because you have not worked out how to get the best from it, and it is faster than the i-mate JAM not by much but faster.

Are you refering to the JAMin here? If so, you are sadly very mistaken. The original Jam runs rings around the JAMin (except graphics performance)
At the end of the day it depends on what you want. If you want a phone enabled PDA, the JAMin is a good choice. If you want a PDA enabled phone, then the original JAM is miles better.
I have the Jam and the Jamin. The Jam is a bit zippier, but in the week that I've had the Jamin I haven't noticed that it is dog slow either. In fact, since I got rid of the Extended Rom on the Jamin, on every day stuff, it is performing like the Jam. I can only assume that it will just keep getting better with future ROM upgrades. One good thing I've noticed about the Jamin is that it uses less electricity than the Jam. At comparable screen brightness, the Jam was using 110ma while the Jamin was using only 80. That's a good saving. OK I'm a newbie to the Jamin like everyone, time will tell if it stacks up.
I've got mine since a week and YES, it's slower than the S110 but the battery last for much longer. 200MHz processor against 416 and WM5 helps a lot. With the old S110 (and extended battery 1550MHa) the battery last for 2 working days (exchange sync with sms handshake), with the S200 I reach easily the 3rd day.

Go to the Wizard forums... a bunch of resourceful souls figured ou tthe OMAP processor acceleration. I did that to my 8125 (k-jam equiv) and it makes a night and day difference. BTW: The wizard usese the same CPU as the jammin. Give it a whirl!
Hi,
I am now into week three of JAMin ownership and thought I would post a few bullet points about it compared to the JAM.
- it is slower than the JAM, but not so as to make it annoying. Use of the OMAP overclocker on Tom Tom GPS makes it totally useable. I don't really notice it now.
- battery life is a HUGE improvement. Never seen it drop below 50% yet.
- screen is a lot brighter.
- the extra buttons are great. Used with Magic Button and Vito Button mapper greatly reduces the need to use the stylus.
- the camera is very good.
- overall build quality is the same as the JAM but it just looks better.
- Memory allocation is improved. I have only had to soft reset every couple of days and only get the odd crash.
- my only real gripe just now is that there is no WM5 version of OnSpeed so I am not using it to browse just now. It is due out soon though.
Overall I am perfectly happy with the JAMin. The only real issue is the processor speed. However use of the OMAP overclocker gives you best of both worlds of speed when you need it and greater battery life when you don't (lets face it how fast does the phone need to be in standby mode?).

I have a HTC Blue Angel (also called Qtek 9090, XDA III) and I'd like to buy a HTC Universal (XDA Exec, Qtek 9000) to replace it.
However, I keep hearing that it's slow, and that it's slower than the Blue Angel.
Is this true, or are the people who say it's slow using it in a wrong way (for example using lots of memory-hungry programs at the same time)?
Anything else to look for when buying one?
If you want to get an idea of what it's REALLY going to be like, I suggest you visit the BA Upgrading Forum at xda-dev and download the TuMa v1.4 ROM of WM5 and take the plunge of upgrading your device. It will give you an apples-to-apples idea of how WM5 runs on a device with the same configuration.
There's no easy answer to your question. In short WM2003SE is faster, but the utility gained by moving to the newer OS far surpasses the benefit of speed. That's just my opinion, of course. Your mileage may vary.
But the Universal has a faster processor than the Blue Angel.
Isn't the user experience about similar, because of the faster processor (slowness of WM 5 being compensated by the increased CPU speed)?
I think most people will tell you that the jump from the BA CPU to the Universal CPU is nominal (at best). Certainly under the WM5, this is the case.
Yes, perhaps the bump in speed for the CPU should compensate, but in reality it does so only a bit. This is because of the inherent operation of WM5 (i.e. the stuff is executed out of ROM, which is slower than RAM).
For details see Mike C.'s excellent post http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2005/08/19/453784.aspx

Hi,
Upgraded from the BA (Orange M2000) to Universal (Orange M5000)
I can honestly say that the M5000 is slower - i dont think the devices fault but WM5!
After having the M500 for 2-3 weeks now and then going back to look at the M2000's screen there is a massive difference. Due to that I wouldnt consider going back to the M2000.
The M5000 is a fantastic device and is a bit slower than the M2000 but more than makes up for it in other ways.
Just my penneth.
Matt
So it seems
I have both devices both running wm5. The Blue angle seems to have more running memory but I'm not positive how much memory the wm5 OS can handle
Unfortunately:
YES, its slower
Maybe wait for WM5SE (Codename Crossbow).
short answer: It's worth it
Ady is right.
100% Worth it !
My contribution....
I moved from BA to Universal. I use both very simply....phone, email, internet etc...bit of tomtom
No strange apps, no mods, boring old o2 ROMs.....
and I think the Universal is slower....but only slightly and not so it would really bother you.
And anyway, the Universal looks so much better so just get it!!!
HPJ
I have both and I find the Universal is a lot slower, even when running it at 624MHz.
Blame WM5, though, not HTC.
I bought it
I have just bought a Qtek 9000 (HTC Universal) and a Corsair 133X SD card, so I can access the data quickly.
It's a bit slower than the Blue Angel, indeed. But, for some things, it is faster:
- Pocket IE doesn't lock up for 2 minutes when loading complex web sites
- browsing is faster because of the 3G
- Pocket Word loads complex documents faster
Overall, I'm very pleased with the upgrade.
I think that I don't feel the slowness because I don't use programs which put themselves on the TODAY screen - I configure the PDA to show the date and the calendar, and that's it.
In my view the VGA compensates all drawbacks of the speed issues...
really fantastic with PIE and Adobe Reader PPC 2.0
Does Wizard have same CPU as Universal
I have a Blue Angel running WM2003SE and a Wizard running WM5. BA is MUCH faster. Does the Wizard have the same CPU as the Universal?
If I flashed the BA to WM5 would it be as slow as the Wizard? Could the BA be overclocked with 'Omap..'?
Which ROM would you suggest for running WM5 on the BA?
Thanks.
Dude--the Wizard CPU is a jalopy compared to the Universal's hotrod. That's not a fair comparison at all. The only true comparison would be with a HTC Alpine device which runs the same CPU as the Universal.

The Wizard is certainly slow but has a useable keyboard and 3G WiFi unlike the BA.
Any response to my other questions?
I am expecting a Prophet in the next week, is it the same CPU as the Wizard (and no keyboard at all)?
This is all off-topic so if you have a question about the Prophet or Wizard or the BA, you should post it in the appropriate forum. The answers to all your questions already exist. Please use the search function. That's why it's there.
On to my reponse:
Useable keyboard? Perhaps, but you will find as many haters of that keyboard, as well--Although I agree it's better than the BA's. And no, the Wizard does not have a 3G radio. It has EDGE (which is more like 2.5G). Yes, it has WiFi, but so does the BA. How is that any different?
The Prophet has no keyboard and has the same '****ty' OMAP CPU as the Wizard. I was using this lame ass CPU with HP's 6315 almost two years ago. It sucks. Software-based enhancements make the new ROMs for the Wizard and Prophet more responsive, but it's still what it is. Which is S.L.O.W.
There are huge threads devoted to the BA WM5 experience. Try the TuMa 1.4 ROM or the newest Ivan release. Please browse through the BA Upgrading forum for details (I suggest this to the OP, as well). I doubt the 'overclocked OMAP' could ever match the raw CPU power of the Xscale CPU. I am not going to get into a war over CPU architecture here.
My .02 hilala as they say here in Saudi Arabia.
FYI - Anyone considering upgrading to Hermes
I have been using a universal for the last 18months and have now sold it and upgraded to the HTC Hermes.
The universal served me very well and the only thing I miss is the larger screen and VGA resolution and standard 3.5mm jack - however - I don't miss the bulk.
The hermes is everything the universal is minus the VGA.
My default Rom on the universal was Helmi's v1.3 which was AKU 3.5 and was a very very stable/solid rom.
I later installed PDAVIET 2.04 pro (Crossbow/WM6) which was a little temperamental but solid never the less.
I have installed XDA Live 0.20 which is a Crossbow rom on the hermes and it is very fast, I mean very very fast in comparison to the the universal.
In actual fact the hermes feels like an overclocked blue angel. (Normal operation, responsiveness, games etc)
Before I had the universal I had a blue angel that I used to regularly overclock to 530mhz (XCPUSCHALAR) and I can tell you that the herms feels very close to this.
I actually wonder what the hermes is capable of if overclocked slightly - As I don't have any figures (Pocket Hackmaster performance Index, SPB benchmark, etc) I can only speculate - but I'm looking forward to investigating this further.
Incidently the hermes has the Imageon gpu that was present in the blue angel so it runs films in TCPMP with hardware acceleration something the universal lacks.
Now I'm not sure whether the Universal had slow ram, or it being a VGA device slowed it down or what but I do know that the hermes is orders of magnitude more responsive in every day operation than the universal was...
Wireless connects at 54mbs on the hermes instead of the 11mbs maximum thoroughput the universal supports even with the 802.11g hack.
And the Hermes also supports HSDPA (1.8mbs theoretical - if your network provider supports it). Admittedly this was a deal breaker for me as umts is cool but connecting at 1.8mbs to the internet whilst on the road is edging very close to nirvana LOL!
Now while I will miss browsing servers at 640x480 using ts client in WM6 (WM5 tsc was atrocious BTW - LOL!) I feel the hermes features and performance more than make up for it. Plus I recently purchased a Sony u50 (1st generation umpc circa 2004) which has a 800x600 5 inch screen and the u50 allows me to TS into server using the hermes as a modem (Bluetooth or serial comms)
Last but not least I need to mention the hermes 2MP camera - OMDs - LOL.
It is head and shoulders above any HTC Camera I've ever experienced and I have seen them all...
SPV to wallaby to alpine to blueangel to universal I've had them all and this camera is the 1st USEABLE camera in terms of how responsive the camera app is, the picture quality and the overall experience!
Granted it's no replacement for my Canon SLR BUT (BIG BUT) it's definitely useable and supports typical camera functions such as self timer, darkness controls etc.
All other HTC devices had a fairly decent camera app but a piss poor camera sensor that only operated remotely correctly with good light. The pics I get with the hermes are of comparable quality to recent nokia and sony phones.
Hope this information is of use to anyone considering moving from the Universal to a hermes.
haha funny enough I was looking at the hermes last night.
My contract has run out, im in the UK and o2 are no longer doing free gprs so I need to jump ship as its damn expensive! Three are offering unlimited (1gig) a month for £5 so that's my main option plus they have a HSDPA network. But the downside is they don't offer the hermes so i'd have to get it seperatly I want a hermes
Thanks for the review, I want a hermes more now
Thanks
Stu
actually, just a thought... with WM6 PIE has the option to view in VGA mode, this makes website VERY easy to view as if they were on a desktop pretty much which makes browsing actually possible on these devices. Is that function still available on the hermes ?
thanks
Stu
IE VGA
Hi Stu,
No that feature is not available in WM6 IE for the hermes as it is a qvga device (320x240)
Just checked the menu options in IE and noticed that option was missing whereas it was there in WM6 IE on the universal.
Cheers

Three are offering unlimited (1gig) a month for £5 so that's my main option plus they have a HSDPA network. But the downside is they don't offer the hermes so i'd have to get it seperatly I want a hermes
Thanks for the review, I want a hermes more now
Thanks

O2 are just about to bring out a new XDA which is similar looking to the Hermes but appears to have a faster processor. It is apparently out on 26 March.
ooo in that case I may hang around to see what it's like.
But saying that the data is a huge issue data costs on o2 are huge plus i'm a student so we can whine more lol
thanks guys

also :: do you know which device it is ? I presume specs are already out possibly ? or pics ?

It's an Asustek apparently. Just Google O2 Zinc and you'll find it.

Or you might like to hold out for the I-mate Ultimate 7150 - more ROM, more RAM, faster processor, VGA .....
not made my mind up about the design of the new ultimate series, dont know what it is, they look at a little funny :? will have to see it in flesh.
This is what I hate about these things, its always add a little bit of extra time on and wait for the next device
The very mention of microSD in these devices is enough for me to overlook them and appreciate my Universal even more - despite the superior performance of the new devices over the Universal. Since the Universal is VGA, has a stable performance, and uses SD Cards - I am pleased with it.
Only when SDHC readers start becoming more mainstream in PDA Phones will I start considering a successor to the Universal.
