Wilkinson (a UK hardware store chain) have a generic own-brand mobile phone holder which costs 1.49 and although a very slight bit wobbly when stuck in my air vents, does the job a treat.
I had to chop off a bit of plastic at the bottom with a hacksaw to allow the charger to go in, but aside from that, it was straight in. Did a test drive and it did wobble slightly, but not enough to cause anything to happen.
Beat that for price.
Maybe I won't bother with Brodit after all...
Joe
plz post a picture!
My brodit landscape holder is gr8 for me
Yeah please post a picture of it - wanna see this "miracle-cheapo-holder"
Here you go: best I can do at night with a crap (HTC Universal) camera I'm afraid. More tomorrow in daylight if required!
And don't get me wrong - this is total ****e compared to a Brodit, I would have thought. But it's cheap, and I'm a Yorkshireman
Not having air vents (Land Rover Defender) I had to purchase one that has a sticky pad which fits beautifully on the dashboard. It cost £7 from Vodafone who appear to be the only place that actually sells them anymore.

Do you know if will send by mail to Portugal?
Can you take daylight fotos?
Thanks
Here are some daylight photos.
I am not sure about postage, but I will be doing a 140 mile drive tomorrow and will post with my opinions of a long drive with it.
If it's good, and we can work out a way to post it and pay, then I will do this for you.
Thanks
OK - I've been to Wilko's and handed over my hard earned £1.49.
It comes with a little bracket that can be bolted/screwed in - so I think I'll
use that. Joe - where did you get your car charger - I checked Wilko's -
they didn't have any.
I got it from Ebay, I think it's one intended for a iMate Jam, but not a genuine part.
They should be available for Wizards by now I would have thought.
Joe
joebongo- This one is for £4.99 in a local phone shop, it's supposed to be a desktop universal phone holder but i put it in the windshield and it works for me-
i grabbed one of these from wilkinsons today too... looks really cheaply made, but what do you expect for less than £2 !! Im going to use the vent holder and see how that works out... to be fair, thinking about it, it actually looks better made than the one i had last year that was about £8 !
EDGE
magnetic disk
I use a magnetic disk from cpw and put the metal strip inside battery cover. used with all my phones in the past and never once have I dropped my phone, even 30mph accidentally over speed hump, which loosened my fillings. yet no drilling and looks cool on dash. Am i the only person using this?
 im gonna pop down there today and buy the holder live 2mins from my local high street 8)
joebongo, i went to the shop but they said they dont sell mobile phone stuff.....? where did you get yours from because i went to a large store..not the small ones :?:
When I had a Samsung I stuck a velcro pad to the dashboard and to the back of the phone. (Furry side on the phone!) Worked brilliantly.
With the Exec I might put velcro on the bottom and on the top of the dashboard, and mount it there. Maybe above my steering column - if I write my own app with mirror writing I could fold it down in PDA mode & have a HUD

Hello,
Would someone please recommended a good/decent wired headset/mic earphone? Ideally one with the USB male end that the Tilt will accept.
Thanks.
if you have a good set of 3.5mm headphones you can use this
http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=866
I just got mine, works great. A bit hard to insert the male into the kaiser for the first time (in my case it was to big for the female, lol)

That may be a viable option.
Tex........
I got something similar in the retractable InEar Isolators, also from Seidio (http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=777)
i can confirm that they work well, both in the sense of working well with the kaiser and also working well in terms of sound quality. I have only had them for a while and don't make that many phone calls, but have had no complaints so far about the mic quality, but still too early to judge on this.
my main complaint is the way the jack bends to the right, which obstructs taking the stylus out on my kaiser. i can still take it out, but only with considerable effort.
Anyone know if a straight plug version is avail?

Thanks for that mini review. Is anyone aware of a seller in the UK with a straight plug version of these? I'd rather avoid the $25 postage they charge to post it to the UK. What an oversight to not consider whether the stylus can be removed properly when the headset is plugged in It makes me wonder if they actually tested out a prototype before putting them into production. The way I see it, the only acceptable plug shape is straight because even if it bent 90 degrees to the other side then it would interfere with any attached lanyard, bent up would obstruct the microSD slot and down means the device wouldn't sit flat.

This might work for you. http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=148518&asource=151713

It has a straight plug, and you can get it from expansys UK...
I've been happy with the HTC OEM earphones from this guy: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-OEM-STEREO-...ryZ20336QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Hard to beat his price - less than five bucks delivered in the US. I was impressed enough that I went back and bought a second pair.
The USB jack on the ones that I have bends 90 degrees to the left, so the stylus isn't covered.

Thanks for the link. It’s not worth me crossgrading from the original HTC supplied headset for those - they seem much the same sort of thing. If you look at the other link I was referring to you'll see they're the sort of earphones that go right into your ears. The problems I have with my current original TyTN II headset include the foam 'socks' falling off regularly (the original socks only lasted a month or two and as HTC don't sell replacements, I'm now using Motorola ones) also they're a less than comfortable fit. If enough people enquire with Seidio then it may speed up the process of them releasing straight plug versions (hopefully with a decent carrying box).

yes, my athena x7500 is finally for sale. it just collects dust now so its time to let it go and get myself a touch HD. so if anyone is going from athena to it expect me to cook some roms for it. its in about 8,8.5/10 condition. i bought it used and babied it so almost everything is from the previous owner. the rubber i guess from sitting or just from time on the joystick came off and the camera button also came off. both can easily be replaced for a few dollars. camera can still be used by taking the stylus and sticking it into the hole of the camera button. its just the actual button that came off. screen is mint since it has a screen protector from day 1. have original box, keyboard, cables, the 4 in cable, 2 cases, and a small usb keyboard that u can also get if you like. looking for 600 plus shipping. it has the latest incarntion of my ap rom that never got released. i remember the rom was almost stable but some bugs and lack of time made me stop development.
its going to be sad to see her go but its for the better.
Still for sale?

The Galaxy Note is the Samsung Flagship phone and accordingly has produced a good range of bespoke accessories such as car kit, battery charger for back-up battery, covers etc. One of the reasons I bought this phone was because of the accessories which are not always produced by a manufacturer when they launch a phone. Anyone found a good supplier of the accessories?

Yes, I agree..... I normally shop at MobileFun for my accessories but even they have little to go on.
They have a few here, including the free case Clove are showing as coming with the phone from them.
Clove was including the flip cover with their GNotes .. It looks sort of like the Magic cover for the iPhone. They are sold seperately on the Clove site also. Wonder if Handtec has them or if they are including them... anyone know?

No, this cover Clove are supplying is the official cover from Samsung.
Besides the link I provided earlier above you can also see that MobileFun are advertising this cover as well here.... Although at present it is Price TBC and running at Pre-Order only.
Clove obviously managed a good deal with Samsung.
Edited:
If you look at the opening 30 seconds on the video from the Clove Blog of the Unboxing of the Galaxy Note you will see the flip case is definitely the official Samsung Case.
I've got my galaxy note today from Phones4U and it came with this cool cover. It makes your note look like a real notebook, haha.
The only drawback is that it's rather stiff (it does around 170 degrees rotation without using force) so if you wanna use two hands, you've got to move it back even further.
Sorry about image quality but indoor light usually pwns phone cameras.

PS. You have to notice that this cover protects camera lens slightly when it lies on the table.

I have this one: http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/galaxy-note/galaxy-note/EDD-D1E1BEGSTD
Very good but the with disadvantage that the USB port only allows charging.
Just got my brand spanking new white Z1c!
A dock (DK32) was included in the box, along with usb cable, charger, headset, manuals, and a limited edition case. No screen protector.
Price was awesome, ~$500, but I guess that's why the packaging is so... non-premium. I'm sure they could have done better without adding to the cost.
Probably also explains why the headset is so frickin' cheap, I thought Sony always bundle with quality buds. Maybe it's because all the Sony products I bought in the past were Walkman branded? Ex. SE W880i, W980, K700i (not Walkman but still came with great buds), CD player D-EJ2000...
The dock looks great, but actually docking in the phone will take practice, it's not entirely fool-proof. Without the phone, it fails to stay in desired position since the usb cable tugs at it a certain way. Included was an adapter to accommodate z1c + case, but I have not tried this configuration yet. Probably won't ever, thing is too sexy to cover up in a case!
The panel on my unit is JDI. :good: Aww yeah!
Compared with a friend who owns a Z1 (sharp panel), difference was amazing. I was surprised the poor performing panel on the Z1 was sourced from Sharp, I always assumed they made only quality stuff - at least all Sharp phones were top of class. Guess the components arm had to cut corners to compete with Korean and Chinese/Taiwanese manufacturers... shame really.

if you care about audio quality, you'll already own decent headphones/iems and have absolutely zero use for any included iems which would stay wrapped up and un-used and be a waste of sony's dosh. much rather sony spent the money they will save by not bundling cheapo iems on a phones build quality etc
I'm from the Philippines and we're still waiting for its release here. Can you check the flash bleed on your unit? There's a possibility that your phone is from a newer batch. Thanks!

I got a screen protector applied the minute I bought it, so I don't think my results will be representative on the actual performance - the extra layers of film will definitely diffuse the light in unpredictable ways. That being said, I took a few sample shots with the flash on, does appear to be brighter on the bottom side (area near the LED).
Not an issue for me though, flash distorts color, I avoid using at all costs.

You can find the answer to that question in the original post.
I seriously have no idea how you can buy it and shipped to the US though, sorry my friend.
I'd bet it's not worth the hassle - I once bought a phone off expansys, had to work my way through customs paperwork, duties, taxes, fees, more forms, declarations... was f'king hell. All thanks to the fact that it's a regulated device (radios) and has batteries.
