Hi all,
Although I have been a member for a while I have not made many posts so bear with me please.
Has anyone managed to get this device on orange UK. I have been waiting weeks for it to come back in stock to upgrade to it ( I currently use a nokia N80 which is slowly dying on me)
I check their website daily and for upgrades and new customers it is still out of stock.
I phoned orange 2 weeks ago and was told the website is always out of date by 2 to 3 days, and that they had just had stock in and it is being checked.
I phoned orange again and was told no still out of stock.
So 2 questions,
1. Has any one managed to get their mitts on this device.
2. Is there a problem with this device preventing orange from having it in stock.
Many many thanks to you all
Yes - no problem
No problem, I did a lot of research for the best prices.
Managed to get one FREE with 7 MONTHS FREE LINE RENTAL (via one of those stupid voucher redemption schemes. though
try out -

Delivery was 2 days, service just about the usual. they have a call centre thats actually in the UK and is helpfull!!
If you are thinking off them, please send me a message as they give a £20 reward to all persons reccomended by an existing cutomer when you buy.
Good luck
i got mine from orange last week as an upgarde. i did have to wait 7 days.
I got my M700 on the 3rd March.
I didn't have to wait as there was no waiting list and they had plenty in stock. This was at the Orange shop in the Sheffield city centre AND at the Meadowhall shop.
I used to have an O2 XDA IIi and this is much better.
Its smaller, lighter, more stylish and the camera is much better too. I use the sat nav and I get unlimited internet usuage off peak.
Best choice I could have made.. very happy customer.
i got mine tail end of feb about 4 days after it was released, for nowt and still on the old premier 600 plan huzzah!
I ordered mine from the website, only to be told 3 days later that it was out of stock.
I was a little bit pissed, but I went into my local store in Leeds White Rose and the Phone Advisor, a great guy called Waleed, sorted me out with no problems.
If you have an Orange store local to you then try and get the upgrade from them and they'll give you a better deal than the website. Plus you can walk away with the phone there and then.
Cheers,
Al

i got told by orange on the phone i could have the phone for free but they had none in stock whereas they then said 'if you find one in an orange shop the deal stands' so after a bit of hunting i got one heheheheheheh
I was entitled to a free upgrade and had to keep phoning the business customer services (they told me to try every day). I was also on a back order list. Also the Orange website kept showing in stock but it wasn't. Anyway I got it free from the Orange shop. But when phoning around I get the impression that they have limited stock and want to use them for new customers rather than free upgrades. They try to fob you off in the Orange shop. They told me that they had a different upgrade structure and that I would have to pay £100. Anyway as I said I got one free from an Orange shop.
I got mine for free from
http://www.buymobilephones.net/store/merchant-4-75-1434-Phones.ihtml
with 7 months free libe rental and was delivered the next day
that is the total cost of ORANGE SPV M700

Well played.
Post pics when it arrives. Trying to decide whether it's worth selling my JasJar and getting an O2 Exec on contract.

So i'm confused. Do you have one in your hands, or is it 'on the way'?
Called the non-web based o2 Contract line (0870 5860860) 3 times yesterday and kept getting told to ring back. This morning I have been told that the date has been put back to Monday 3 October 2005.
What makes me think that any domestic stock has been redirected to the business side of things
Spoke To O2 Last Night on Normal Custoer Services and they say it is now available
Just rung the number shown above, 402 select, business o2 and all say 3rd October and not before.
What number did you try?
Just spoke to contract services, and no, its not available till 3rd, and its not on system. He did admit somebody had spotted it on the website but says he doubts that if they ordered it they will get it before anyone ordering next week and possibly will need to re-order.
Looks like we all need to wait.
Oh, and just to make sure I get it first, O2 said it was delayed by a month and for NONE OF YOU to call untill November ok?
I have just put the phone down from O2 Marketing Director. Sadly, the XDA Exec's were involved in a fatal accident and therefore will not be available until 1st December.
For more information ring O2 Mid October for an update.
LOL... just kidding
Got tired of all the major network providers mucking me & the rest of us about. My wife agreed to me finally buying a JasJar in Tottenham Court road today at Inkino Ltd. They really are a nice set of people and very professional. They certainly will get my recommendation!
Just charging my new toy  It's actually much more appealing to the eye than any photo I've seen of it. Well, there's undoubtedly nothing for me to report as you've all read the posts in this forum, but I will share solutions to problems encountered, as I come across them. Thanks to Xda developers, I feel well prepared and well informed. Thanks to all of you. & Thanks to my wife for putting up with my technoholic tendancies 8) Well she has ended up with my i-mate jam after all and is thoroughly loving it!
Im afraid if I spent that much on the JasJar my wife would go into premature labour (after killing me), so i have no choice but to wait for the major carriers.
I may end up getting two and selling one to these eager US people who cant get it as im due an upgrade for wifes tarif as well as taking out new one for me.
Looks like ill get one on o2 upgrade, then take out the T-mobile 100meg data tarif with the Universal as the phone.
Still at least a week to wait, but hell, if it was nokia it would be 6 months more, be obsolete when it was released and anyone that bought it would be ****** off at the fact 4 days later nokia release a better "i" version for less money.
The actual story of what happened with o2 (because I went through the same thing on Monday) is, according to the business Supervisor:
On Mon 26 Sep it was released by their I.T. department onto the business site by mistake.
Thousands of customers ordered it through the site and from the phone line who had taken this to mean it was available.
Once the mistake was realised, the person responsible in I.T. was fired and all orders stopped. Mine was in fact cancelled by them, without them telling me.
I was out and about today so decided to pop in to a few mobile phone shops and see what the story 'out on the street' was.
Vodafone
Never heard of the Universal or any of its derivatives.
O2
Got a new (October) catalogue out with the Exec listed at £150 on a 200 min contract. Expecting stock 'sometime this month'. Video calls on 3G will now be chargeable (to other networks) and data prices are now higher.
Orange
Had a dummy phone in store! Didn't know anything about availability or price though. In fact, had never seen it before.
So, there you go. Another week...
Some T-Mobile stores also have the dummy phone. It fits nicely in a front jeans pocket, and isn't as heavy as I expected! Also the keyboard is quite usable, even with my larger than average fingers!
And you know what they say about men with large fingers...
hey can u post the ext rom on ftp???

After finally holding one in my hand today I must admit how much smaller and better built it was than what I was expecting. All this fuss about it being too big - rubbish says I!
The o2.co.uk Website has moved the XDAi & XDAs to the end of the phones webpage leaving a nice little gap for the third in the current range on Monday???
XDA Exec Mobiles4everyone.com
Still no sign this am on O2 but Mobiles4everyone are offering Execs - whether or not for imediate delivery I don't yet know. Others are offering too. Cheers, Derek
That's great, and I like the pricing too.
But I can't find any of the other places you mention.
Let's try and get a list going here of:
* The best deals
* Those who have it in stock and offer quick delivery
I know that most people here already own a Jasjar or MDA and those who don't would much prefer the metalic finish of the SPV or the black XDA when they come out, but for those of you who are after the gameboy DS lookalike version, the VPA a word of warning, I have just gotten off of the phone with Vodafone as I was planning on getting my number transfer code... suddenly theyt start asking questions about why I want to transfer over to another network (no big surprise there) when I explained about the XDA Exec she slammed me on hold and sent me to her supervisor. She went through the options and hit me with some nasty figures...
First off its unlikely they will be getting it in before December
and far more scarily
Even if you sign up for an 18 month tarif at £99 a month (anytime 3000)they won't be selling it for less than £250 for either a new contract or upgrade, it would cost even more on the lower ones.
Although it is still up in the air as to weither they will be stocking the white device at the moment or rebadging the Qtek 9000 when they get their hands on it
something tells me voda won't be shifting many handsets
I've just finished a very interesting conversation with vodafone...
2 days ago I requested my PAC code in order to go for a deal I'd seen for a XDA exec via buymobilephones.com. I called today to get the pac code (takes 48 hours they said) and proceeded to signup with it on buymobilephones.com. Funnily enough their signup process died with an error on the final step!
Few seconds later, vodafone rung me... "We heard you're planning to leave becase you can't get an HTC Universal... we've made some special arrangements and you can have one, it's a Qtek..." he then proceeded to insist it was a Qtek 1620 (which *really* worried me because I think that's an HTC Blue Angel, not a Universal). We debated that for a while and he insisted that it's definitely a universal they're sending me - he described the rotating screen etc. So, it arrives tomorrow, new contract, fair enough, £70 cost, keep my wonderful 100mins for £15 a month tariff (was called online 100, and I'm not a heavy user so expected much higher costs to get a Universal).
So... I'm a very happy bunny (or at least I will be when it arrives tomorrow, and if it's a Universal), and I've only got good things to say about Vodafone right now! I should have asked whether the Qtek was going to be generally available from vodafone... but he did say it was a 'special retention arrangement'!
Matt S.
Let us know when it arrives please and what did you actually get
I am a business user and trying to get info about any smartphone devices is like getting blood out a stone. However they say the Qtek V1640 is imminent and "is the same as the O2 Exec". What finish it is I do not know. I presume it is just a rebadged QTek 9000
I would go and get one from another network, but we have hardware credit with Voda so it is effectively free!
If yours doeas turn up tomorrow I wold be very interested to hear !
T-Mobile and Orange have both offered trial units to keep me going until I can get a Voda one (not told them that!)
I'm not wanting to turn into C/S troll boy around here but ..
They will just blatantly lie to you.
They have to me already reg. billing and handset replacement.
The people they employ are often sub-intelligent and very young and the business methods of these companies are generally appauling.
Don't be suprised if they screw you over ..
I Agree with Gubb
A slightly pear-shaped twist...
Called vodafone this morning to confirm I should expect delivery today. Fine they said, all ok, you'll get it today.
4pm and no sign so I called again... this time, long while on hold... out of stock, no idea when we'll have it, try Monday, we're really sorry. They gave me £10 credit on my account however for messing me about, which is good I suppose, but obviously I'm a bit miffed.
Called back again, this time went through to the retentions team... he checked stock levels etc, assured me that they were coming in on Monday and I'd get it on Tuesday. I won't hold my breath.
Yesteday I saw that O2 were offering the XDA EXEC as one of the phone options on their website, today it is now not one of their options. ITS OFF THE LIST! I wonder why.
O2 XDA Exec
You can get an O2 Exec for £150 in the UK at £19/month or £100 + £23/Month. Not a bad deal.
@electronis, I think you're right. Just tried from www.my-xda.com and the link to buy from the online store did not work.
Edit: my local O2 shops (Hampshire/Surrey) in Farnborough and Guildford still have stock.
Edit 2: O2 are still selling the XDA on the business site, see here:http://shop.o2.co.uk/cgi-bin/o2uk-b...=business:O2:XDAExec:GROUP&ref=businessMod8L3
It was working fine yesterday - interesting.
Wonder whats going on.
Liverpool store I was in yesterday said they had loads in stock, too.
It still appear in the Business section

Hi
Just to let people know - I phoned O2 online this morning - they have sold out. Waiting for new stock. But they have no ETA for the new stock.
Phil
i was told 17th November for stock, but I told them to cancel the order cos I placed it yesterday and they even offered me next day delivery for £3.99 which I accepted and now I've just rung to check on delivery only to be told no stock until 17th.
I ordered my upgrade on Tuesday and it came on Thursday.
After the usual arguments over how much I was going to pay, depending on on your callcentre rep is, I got it for free.
I was told no stock and no ETA last weekend.
If I dont have one by the 17th I'll cancel with o2 and buy that IPAQ 2700 instead.
There's no way o2 is getting a penny off me until I have a working phone and sim and am completely satisfied with it. Which I suspect will be never given the fact they keep sending out knock offs and refurbs. *sigh
Guys
I spoke with the retention team yesterday and they told me that they had 3 days worth of stock available so I'm not sure what the heck is going on with the sales departments.
I'd push it with them and see what they say. Why not also see if the local store has one in stock and pick one up from there.
Have been severely mucked about by vodafone and no one else has the phone.
Voda told me my order last Friday would be here monday.
On monday they told me wednesday
on Tuesday morning they said Friday
on Tuesday afternoon they said "oh sorry mid december"
AAARRGGGH!
not a happy camper. mobilesdirect are out of stock and no one else in the UK seems to have the phone.
Any suggestions?

yes got to the HTC uk site and the "Buy" have a look at shops people selling them..
there's several there that have them in stock/
Play.com have them in stock on free delivery at £499 (or did at time of writing)
I got mine from cleverkit.com next day delivery for £5
If you'd prefer a bricks-and-mortar store and you're in London then you could try Inkino.
I'm guessing both these options are sim free .... ?
GG
I got mine from Clever Kit.com. SIM free and I ordered mine on day of release after 3pm and it was delivered next day! Amazing service!! http://www.cleverkit.com/products/htc-hd2-sim-free-unlocked.html

Exactly the same situation here. Placed order on Sunday, they failed to call me back on the Monday when 1000 units came into them, so I never got one of those, so i was advised to place my order online as more expected Friday and I did, now got an email saying early December. Called Voda who were very apologetic and if I can wait till the 12th then they will compensate me as I should have had my phone by now.

This phone has been a lot more popular than Vodafone thought it would be.
Apparently people stayed away from the HTC Magic when it came out because they hadn't heard of HTC.
Don't think we can blame them for everything. I hope you get one soon mate! Vodafone are usually pretty good with fixing problems. Especially when they create them!
Same problem with voda here, on top of that I enquired as what would happen with my number transfer (my pac expires 12 December) in case they can't deliver a phone by then, they told me they had no record of my pac/number to be transfered... ooops must have fallen into a black hole then lol.
Not bothered about waiting but very annoyed about not being informed about delays before ordering and the fact that they did the credit check straight away...
Sent a lovely email to the UK CEO (yes, I can be polite and explain things clearly when I want to lol). I've just got a reply from him (about 1 hour after I sent it) apologising for letting me down and saying he'll get someone from his office to call me to "see how we straighten this out"
Fast reply! That's damn good.
Hope you get them soon guys. I hope Vodafone fix it for you.
I admit I was impressed. I thought it'd take a few days to get a reply and that I'd just get a standard apology penned by the PR people. No idea how long till I get the call though but will keep you informed.
Some Vodaphone stores had stock in, looked at one in Taunton and Weston super Mare had stock. Would only do 24 month contract though so decided to wait.

Will do though I can't really see how they'd get me a phone if they can't get stock from HTC before December. Still, I'm hoping that at the very least my account will get a note along the lines of "do not mess up, the stupid cow will complain to the ceo" .
HD 2
I Phoned tmobile yesterday and was told the hd2 is in stock but only on a 18 month contract. Vodafone tell me they have sold all there stock over the weekend and will not be getting more until the 27th of nov. Vodafone are not listing 12 month contracts but if you phone them and ask they will offer one. I Just cant wait until the 27th.

Me and many others with outstanding orders got this email from Vodafone:
"We have received unprecedented demand for the HTC HD2, and due to shortages from the manufacturer – we are experiencing slight delays in receiving your handset. We are doing everything we can to obtain further stock and will be the first to receive the next deliveries. Currently we expect these to arrive early in December."
That's a funny definition of slight delays Not sure where the 27th November date they've given you is coming from.

I couldn't get them to offer anything shorter than 18 months, so if 12 months is what you're after you may just want to order before they change their mind again
12 month contracts are very rare in premium mobiles these days. Given the lowest possible monthly amount is around £35 and premium phones are around £500 or so, the companies only get £420 out of you.
However, on an 18 month contract at minimum of £35 they get around £630 from you. At least this pays for phone.
As for stock, I would have hoped they could have had more in before the start of December. Must be because the phone has probably been more popular than HTC imagined it would be.
I'm waiting for my SGS2.... I ordered from Affordable Mobiles in the UK.... just wanted to make sure when they say next week.... they mean NEXT WEEK..... and that they haven't been stringing along other customers for weeks and weeks with the same promises.

I've got an order pending with them and I've been waiting a while, but there is a shortage of unlocked handsets with the usual online retailers. If you're wanting the phone quickly I'd say go elsewhere, as I've been waiting a fortnight so far. That said, they have the best deals around, especially when taking Quidco into account. I'm holding out for a free phone @£26.50 p/m for 18months (Cashback Inc.)

Yeah same reason I went with them... TopCashback in my case and with a £35 cheque back after 30 days I will be paying the equivalent of just over £28 for 18 mths.... as you say the best deals around by at least by a few pounds each month.
I'm not in a rush as such.... just eager to get back onto Android.... my rooted HD2 died on me so I've sent it back for repair... in the meantime I am using a woeful LG Renior KC910 (good camera, crap phone!).
I am still waiting... apparently any day now, but they can't be anymore specific. They do have the SGS2 on the Three network but I specifically need T-mobile..... hopefully Monday!
Listed elsewhere as a company to avoid .

Really?... did do a search but couldn't find anything... apart from the obvious delay in getting the handset, their customer service (speed answering calls, apologies for delay etc.) has been fine.

I ordered mine with them on 19th May..and still waiting..chased every day and they've repeatedly said 'end of the week' when i phone on the friday its 'next week'..
apparantly they now have it in stock on 3, but T-Mobile they're pretty sure will be able to deliver next week (w/c 7th June) but we'll see.
Well I suppose they are at least being consistent... I will do a search of MSE... The AM deal is the best I can get though so I am not keen to cancel just yet.
One good thing is that I have received my old HTC HD2 back from the T-Mobile repair sent so I will have that rooted and running Android in no time... that will keep me going until I get the SGS2
Let us know when you have it in your hands.
I am still waiting for mine, fingers crossed for soon - the HD2 that i am using is on its last legs - the USB port is broken and I restored a factory ROM to send it back to be fixed (which they would only do for £250). now I cant install HSPL because the USB doesnt work! even worse I had to buy extra batteries and an external charger. Longing so much to get my Galaxy SII in my hands!
Luckily my HD2 was repaired FOC via T-Mobile themselves... I made the mistake of going to HTC direct with my partners Desire and they wanted £200 citing moisture as the problem with one of the buttons.
HTC are solidly made for sure but this doesn't make them anymore reliable... hopefully the Sammy will be better.
Still waiting... and still Affordable Mobiles have no idea when they will have the handsets in stock.
Apparently they are now "In transit" (to Affordable Mobiles)
I will. be receiving mine on the 13th June now... would have been today if it wasn't for the weekend.
Looks like Affordable have reasonable stocks again as they are advertising them again and are by far the cheapest.
