Hi guys I am new to this stuff, I have 8525 with the latest rom 2.06, my GPRS and Blackberry connect are both working but the problem is when I am using the gprs blackberry connect is saying Blocked- radio in use, when I am finished browsing the blackberry connect does not reconnect I have to always reconnect manually, I am using opera browser, Is there any way that I can have the blackberry just suspend and resume automatically when I close the web browser.
used to get this issue with WM5 ROMS and had to manually close the GPRS connection to get BBC to kick into life again.
This isn't an issue with WM6 XDA ROM - you can have both tunnels in use (i.e. browse on GPRS and receive email via BBC)
Time to upgrade maybe?

I've got it to work once, and not sure how, but I want to use my WiFi Connection while my PDA is docked so I can use Pocket Controller and access it with my desktop.
Here's my situation. at work, our connection is locked down, but we have WiFi for visiting clients, that's wide open, I like to use Agile Messenger to chat with my friends but can only do so using the open WiFi, but I want to use my keyboard and monitor on my desktop so I connect to my pda using pocket controller.
The thing is... when I connect to wifi it works, then when I dock, my PDA creates a network conenction with my desktop, and it becomes primary, this kicking me off agile messenger... I've tried docking then wifi...same results
I'm running Windows Mobile 2005, windows xp and Active Sync 4.1
I've turned off all active sync connection settings, but I still need my pda to make a network connection with my desktop thus I can use pocket controller to controll and view it.
ideas?
On ActiveSync Options->Rules change Pass Through Connection to be "Work". Quite appropriate in this case ;-)
I have yet to test this, but in theroy.. or atleast my attempt to grasp the concept..
The USB/Data connection between my desktop/PDA via active sync will then only really be a bridge to my PC, and any and all Internet traffic will then travel through WiFi, as it will become the primary/only "Internet" enabled connection.
Sound right?
Yep, I really dislike the way WM has the concept of Internet and Work and even more hate the way that this cludge has been used by operators like O2 to provide an Internet GPRS account (Internet) and a WAP GPRS account (Work).
What I suggested definately works on 2003, but if your operator does the same as O2, you won't be able to receive MMSs.

I have activesync 4.1 with a window mobile 5 device, but I can't find this option...
I would like to keep my GPRS-connection open when i'm connected to my PC. But the same problem over here as the topicstarter
When I use total commander's ftp client to connect to an ftp server , total commander itself is not able to establish a gprs/umts connection. I must already be connected (for example open pocket ie before I start ftp) to get it to work. This strange behavior I have also seen in other applications (i.e. pocketirc cannot connect to an irc server if I don't start pocket IE before). Why is that so ? And what can I do about it ?
I had the same problem when I started using ThunderHawk. I had to open Pocket IE to get a connection, close it and then open ThunderHawwk.
Using the always-on GPRS in the wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Registry) solved that issue for me.
Hopefully, that will work for ftp, as well. Let us know.

what does that always on registry hack REALLY do ? Does that mean my phone will have a constant GPRS connection ? Does that not mean I must not forget to disconnect manually when I close the phone? Will that not increase the traffic ?
It is kind of an all or nothing deal. If you have ANY programs that can access GPRS data, this hack will allow it. Also, be aware that if you manually disconnect, the connection will automatically re-establish 5-10 sec later while using this hack.
As an example, I use PocketWeather, which I have setup to update every hour. It will update using GPRS if it is not Activesync-ing, every single hour of every day. If you have to pay for data by the amount used, it may not be attractive. I have an unlimited use plan through T-mobile USA for $20/month, so I just don't have to worry.
Other than this hack, I believe you will have to connect the hard way.
Strangely enough, my old PDA phone (hp 6315) would connect just fine with ThunderHawk. It also had a choice under the taskbar 'Connectivity' pop-up bubble for 'GPRS (T-Mobile)' that I could use to easily connect or disconnect. My Jasjar only lists 'T-Zones GPRS (GPRS, 3G)' in the pop-up only when it is connected. So, I suspect that the issue is either with WM5 or T-Mobile added something to the ROM of the 6315 to make it more functional with their network.
HI everyone!
Here I go: I´ve got the BlackBerry Connect installed and working perfectly on my Hermes. With Vodafone Spain, I´ve got a flat rate for internet connections with the BlackBerry Service, the problem is that when I click on th einternet explorer on my Hermes, it didsconnects the BlackBerry connection and starts up the GPRS connection and that costs me very much.
I think the solution would be the blackberry browser installed on my Hermes but don´t know if there is a version of this progrma for pocket pc just like Blackberry Connect.
Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance buddies
I see the same issues when running bb connect. for some reason, bb connect only likes a gprs connection and not umts, etc. bb connect also does not like when other apps (pIE, etc.) uses the connection. I believe the reason might have something tod with how bb connect requires a connection full time were as umts disconnects to avoid battery drain, etc.

Hi there,
I've been trying to use opera on my MDA Vario over my wifi yet as far as I can gather you need to create a new connection under connections (since I have to authenticate to an ISA server).
Yet I can't get it to connect, I can connect to the internet through IE (im actually typing this on my phone on IE ) yet opera doesn't seem to work. Is there any way to get it to work
Im on wm6 and im using opera mobile (i don't really want to use opera mini since it always asks me to connect due to a security certificate issue) and im connecting through an ISA server which I am unable to change the settings on since its a phone problem since it works for IE
oh and a small low priority question how do I stream through wifi since streaming media always fails to connect
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

Hi All ..
Im having this problem recently, work fine few days back ...
I enabled HSDPDA / HSUPDA connection, and connect using GPRS thru my mobile line provider... Sometimes i just stick to 3G instead of the H signal..
Last time i can use MSN Messenger and Surf Opera together, and my connection will state 2 connection, first is GPRS (3G) Singtel Usage, 2nd, GPRS Internet (3G) Singtel Usage..
Which enables to me use both application at the same time...
But now, i dont know what happen to my phone or connection, it only uses 1 connection at a time, and ... Whenever i use msn, i cannot browse Opera, ERROR message come out state, "check my active connection, make sure no other application using the same connection". Or, i activate opera, then i will lose connection to MSN Messenger...
I tried using MSN Messenger and Internet Explorer, it works, IE just tag the existing connection and connect the net. But opera need a new connection,
How do i enable opera to connect to my existing connection, without disconnecting my MSN Messenger connection working at the background ?
Thanks ....
