If you have a problem with SMTP on cingular wireless you may have to use cingulars mail exchanger
the address is : cwmx.com
this drove me nuts so I searched the intranet and found this solution.
If you are using Direct Push with mail2web there is no need to configure an SMTP...
Yes this is true except Im in Wm6 and HTML email is only supported under Pop/Imap, unless u have EXCHNG 2007

Anybody who know how to make IMAP4 working on QTEK PDA. For somereason I can not login to my mailserver. Firewall is opened. Is PDA IMAP using any special ports ?
Mine works
Its not much help, but mine works:
Connection:
via GPRS (O2 UK), or via Wireless Broadband at home (no proxy, but basic firewall with no rules - Netgear)
Mail Server:
GopherKing
It does NOT work on my companys LAN as they have bared all IMAP and POP3 access on the company firewall.
If you do get it working, I would be greatful if you can tell me if your service allows you to delete mail remotly. I have no problems downloading mail, but moving between folders or deleteing mail does not get replicated up to the server
Takk,
Ian
Hello:
I can dial into my company network using my XDA and dialup, ok. Does anyone know how I can receive my corporate emails? I suspect I need some software for the XDA which can access MS-exchange servers, is there any such out there?
thanks
corporate mail
all i can tell you is the way we do it at our company. exchange has web access so to access our corporate mail the address would be
http://mailserver.*****.**.uk
type in your login and password and bob's your auntie.
no special software required.
ian
Hmmm. I gave it a try, no luck. maybe it is blocked by our firewall. :-(
POP server
I can do my corporate e-mails trough a pop3 server, and with the nice patch I can do my private e-mails trough a hotmail http account.
works perfect
So check if you have a pop3 mailserver account.
Similarly I check my corporate Exchange server with Pocket Outlook using IMAP4 (can get folders other than Inbox). I also get my Yahoo email using POP3.
Hmm - no idea how to use IMAP4 or how to get them through e pop3 server.
I don't know much about how mail works, i just usually collect it and send it. details on how to set these two possible solutions would be most welcome.

Why don't you ask the IT dept ?
At my work place, I can access email remotely though the web interface of Exchange / Outlook. I still have to be connected the RAS service here though as the server is not advertised on the internet.
Rob.
Hmmm
the problem with that is two things...
the XDA is not a company issue thing, so they will probably not like me doing this.
Our it dept is ridiculously crap.

Icarusbop are you useing vodaphone on your xda ii
Yes, I am using vodafone. I have a company mobile, calls are paid for by company, so I obviously wanted to use the voda card in my XDA II
if you got an exchange server, you can add activesync and outlook mobile access with server 2003 and get your email auto updated thru text messaging. I have the whole set up hosted out of my apartment
I run an SMTP mailserver at home through which I can send my emails from whichever network I'm connected to (home ISP, office ISP, mobile GPRS, WiFi hotspot etc.). Naturally it's a secure SMTP server with simple username/password authentication.
On my XDA2 I used a little freeware email client called nPOPw which worked really well (fast, reliable, simple) to send/receive emails but I'm experimenting with PocketOutlook since it's easier to use with the Exec's keyboard and I thought that maybe things had improved in WM5.
But I can't get PocketOutlook to work with my mail server. It receives mail OK (from the same server with the same auth details) but it won't send through the server. I just keep getting prompted for SMTP auth username/password/domain info. Can anyone suggest a reason and solution? Thanks in advance.
nPOPw can send/receive over my WiFi network with no problems, so it's not a network connectivity or a DNS problem. My mailserver is Kerio on a Win2K box with a fully qualified host name. Everything works. Except POutlook.
Hi all,
I would like to get pushmail on my Wizard.
I saw the new rom upgrade but before I upgrade I would like to know how to set pushmail up.
I own a domain and the site is hosted at a hosting company that does not support exchange (and not pushmail).
Is there a way I can still use their (hosting company) webmail and get pushmail some way?
I could setup a pc at home with Exchange but what would I need to do to get it all working.
Any suggestions...

If you have a static IP, just point your dns record for a third level sub-domain of your domain to your server. If not static, get a dynamic dns ip account from someplace like dyndns then point to that. Of course, you will need to get Exchange 2003 on a Windows 2003 server. I have a 2mb connection in my home with 5 static IPs. I just put one of my domains on my server and installed Exchange. I use it for development/testing, so I get pushmail as a bonus to my work.
Thanks for the fast answer!
I have Server 2003 & Exchange 2003 so thats not the problem.
Also I have one static IP address provided by my ISP.
I could give this a go sometime.
Cheers
just be sure to create a dns record for your server... then add an MX record so that mail going to your domain is resolved to your new server.
Seems both of these services from MS dont allow pop3 or imap4 setup ? 8125 seems to have a place for domain email. Any body have a clue as to how to enable this ?
for my 8125 i just left the domain field blank and i was still able to send/receive emails. However, my yahoo email service provides me with pop3 service which i had to pay for. those bastards.
