I'm seriously getting 4 and 5 copies of many (but not all) sms msgs. My friends are getting dupes from me, but usually just one repeat of what I've sent. Oddest thing is that these repeats are anywhere from 10 minutes to 24 hours later, after the original msg was sent.
this has been going on for a day or so at a time for several months, but this time it has been happening for about a week.
any ideas?

Got a s110 with o2 a couple of months ago, and I have not had really any problems with the phone. Anyway today I sent a message to multiple recipiants (10 in all). Anyway within 20 minutes some people had recieved it 4 times, when some only recieved 1. I then sent another message apologizing for the multiple messages, and some people got that 3 times!!!!! So I call up O2 to ask them how many got sent (possibly 70 my my calculations), and they told me that they could not tell for 48 hours, as it takes this long to get into their computers. I thought this was unbelievable, as I know Orange and Vodaphone are instantaneous, as you can call up and find out how many minutes are left / messages etc.
Firstly has anyone had this problem? I know for sure that O2 will blame it on the handset (even though in the sent directory there is only 1 message sent for each) It just seems really weird, especially that not everyone got the same amount of messages. I also sent one to myself, and only got 1.
Secondly does anyone lse think that O2 lacking in the Customer Services department? When (after a long wait) i get through, it is like hitting a brick wall. I get told conflicting information constantly. I then made a complaint, and the guy i spoke to told me he could only put it through as "feedback"
I am only with them, as I got a very cheap s110.
Oh I do miss Orange....... Never thought I would say that!!!!
thank you - rant over..... Anyone happy with O2?
Don't close the messaging app before you get the popup saying, "Message Sent."
I have an O2 Xda II mini on Vodafone Australia and have the exact same problem. It looks to me like the fault lies with WM2003SE.
I have found, as 6thElement suggests above, that not closing the messaging application before you get the sent confirmation bubble is the only way of stopping multiple messages from being sent.
It's a pain in the arse, but it's Micro$oft so what can we do?
yah i used to have that problem, most of the time it was from the network, but 90% it was from my phone, do you have spb pocket plus or any app that fully exits an app? if so add tmail.exe to the exception list. or just like the previous guy said dont close the app till you see the message sent confirmation.
So I purchased a XV6900 approximately two weeks ago. The first day, it wouldn't receive texts and phone calls while in sleep. From that day forth, more problems added up. My text messages would freeze up, the phone would light up like I was receiving a text, but then not show it. I had to actually open up the text message mailbox for it to finally show. Finally, after a whole day of this going on (normally it was off and on), I took it back to Verizon, and they gave me a new one. Low and behold, it started doing it again after about 24 hours. Has anybody else had these problems, and if yes, what did you do to fix them?
try upgrading firmware with latest software from carrier...I just bought mine and the software was ver.1 and the latest was ver.3.something, made a big difference...
I seem to be getting pretty significant delay on my incoming SMS, with some messages taking up to 7-8 minutes to come in. I have an iPhone on ATT in one hand, and the Evo in the other, and I've been fast firing SMS to the Evo. I'll get maybe 1 in 3 texts right away, and the rest hang for minutes at a time. When I do get them, the time stamps look correct, and they thread correctly, but it's very concerning to not be getting them right away, or at least in the correct order. Any suggestions? I'm new to Sprint, never had this issue on ATT, or with my Nexus One.
i am experiencing the same problem.. any suggestions?
Hello, i have a samsung galaxy and my girlfriend has a blackberry curve. She gets all of my txt msgs but i dont get all of hers sometimes. Anyone know the problem?
Funny, I was just told by someone on Verizon that they didn't get my text tonight. It's happened before, and not with just this person.
I would think it's T-Mobile network-related and not an issue with the phone, though.
Same thing has been happening this weekend, I also have no been able to access the internet 95% of the time but I am guessing tmobile is doing some network maintenance or something since I am not the only some friends are having problems with the internet/texts.
I live in dallas, texas btw.
Yeah, I am having problems with receiving texts. A couple of times I have gotten a batch of texts at the exact time in the middle of the night. No idea if it's the other phone or mine. (Btw this is only one other person/phone this has happened from, Blackberry.)
My text reception is wonky here in Los Angeles. My gf sent me 5 texts yesterday. I received 2 this morning, and the other 3 are still in limbo.
I get this too, got it on my G1 as well, so I take all my texts through my google voice number now. The weird thing is, unless all my friends are systematically lying to drive me insane, I am still not getting every text.
had that issue all day yesterday. I just got 8 messages this morning, that i missed from yesterday. I thought it was just the rom i was running.
Same issue in Boise, Idaho. Kind of funny because a bunch of texting I did yesterday with some friends didn't go through and then at 5:30 this morning they got a bunch of texts from me and I got all the ones they sent...
T-mobile is having issues I am thinking lol
My girlfriend has been having the same problem but it's been happening ever since we bought the phone in July. There would be times of the day where she couldn't send/receive messages and then hours/days later receive batches of messages (sometimes up to 30 in a matter of 5 minutes) from previous days.
She'll also receive a voicemail alert without the phone even ringing atleast twice a day even with full reception.
Just hoping the update will correct these problems because we really do like this phone
+1 on issue. I'm not getting some texts from a tmobile blackberry. Another thing, this happened only once so far but one text I received it duplicated 5 times.
I've been having this same problem with my girlfriend.I'm in Canada I'm on the bell network and she's on rogers. Its not only this phone though it did this when I had my iphone aswell. I'm thinking its more a network issue than a device issue. She has an iphone 4, and it did the same thing previously when she had her iphone 3g.
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
Kinda off topic, I got text from people today but the text was repeated like 10 times for the same text. Happened with two different people...very weird.
We might be on to something, people!
So, I've got an annoying issue with my DHD at the moment and am curious to see if anyone else is having it (can't find any threads yet!).
It seem's like when I restart or power-cycle my phone it starts to re-send random SMS messages from either the same day or previous day.
For example, yesterday and today I have had to restart my phone and on both occasions it re-sent SMS to 3 of my contacts. Mind you these messages were sent successfully in the first place... I could understand if it was trying to re-send SMS's which didn't make it through.
Anyone else noticing this issue?
I have experienced this once.
Sent a message on Friday 5th to my wife. On Sat 6th my phone starts lagging horribly so I restart it and on reboot it sends that text to my wife again...rebooted several times after and it didn't send it again though...
I had this issue with my Desire HD, I used the 'transfer data' app to transfer old contacts and sms messages from my blackberry 8900 curve, and a couple of days later when I restarted my phone, it started sending old messages from my new phone, complete with replies!
Turning of the phone stopped it, but then it would do it again when I restarted the phone again.
3 - 400 sms message later, I deleted all old sms message from my phone, and since then it's not done it.
I put it down to the 'transfer data' app, had anyone else used this to transfer old messages?
Nope. I started from scratch with my messages.
Are you seeing your re-sent messages on the conversations?
I only saw a message that was firstly unsuccesfully sent re-sent on reboot one time, nothing else.
For me, it took the original message and moved it further down the conversation thread to when it resent. It was not duplicated.
