Sometimes I get a STK service message just like that, it is very strange. Does anybody have the samme issue? I don't even know what STK service is, it has something to do with GSM. It can interrupt calls and other stuff so its quite inappropiate. Any suggestions? Thanks
using somethnig like resco registry editor, search the registry for 'STKService' and delete what you find.
this should stop it.
thats what i did on a tytn anyway. Didn't seem to adversely affect anything else.

Hi
I don't think this has been mentioned before, so I hope someone has an idea.
Exec on corp install, with MSN Messenger used and then exited (using P+ so should all disappear once it's exited). A few seconds later, and until I get fed up and do a reset, I keep getting connection bubbles showing it's reconnecting to the net. It's as though the MSN connection or program is still active and keeps trying to re-establish the net connection to it.
Anyone else have this?
Cheers
Ant
Sure u havn't applied the "gprs always on" reg hack? Symptoms match exactly the desired behaviour of this hack. Search this board for registry settings so u can check yours.
If I'd put the registry hack on, do you think I'd have posted about GPRS reconnecting??

lol....I've been using XDA's since 'back in the day' and I ain't that dim
Thanks for trying though matey, all suggestions welcome. I take it noone else has had this problem?
Cheers

Had the same problem today, I found the only way was to go the start/ settings/ system/ Memory and select the running progams from here close it down (MSN) the system doesn't like like and you get a warning but it does close the application - perhaps an incompatability issue with the 2005 OS? - Mike
I have also had this problem, I found that although Messenger had signed out the MSN utils generally hadn't but by clicking "switch user" in the softkey menu it logged off and stopped connecting
Sorry I forgot to reply...
Tried that next time I connected to MSN and after using the Switch User option, it stopped the reconnecting.
Thanks all.
Ant
I did a search on this one and didn't find exactly what I was looking for, but if I'm repeating a question, please accept my apologies and feel free to redirect me.
Like many of you (more than likely), I have a tendency to rebuild my Qtek 9100 quite often, given the ROM upgrades and such. This process is a bit of a pain as I always have to re-input all of my Cingular settings in relation to GPRS, MMS, etc.
Now I assume this stuff is stored in the registry somewhere, so I was wondering if anyone had come up with a script, program or even just a registry key listing that could be used to export these settings and import them after a hard reset. It seems like this would be something nearly everyone could use.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Leo hart

I got my Tytn today and gets a very annoying grey pop window over all the screen having the title "STK-service and the popup displays my operator "Telenor SE"
and I can press cancel or ok but it is coming back all the time - it most popups when I have pressed the dialbutton and are at the dialscreen. Have anyone got a such popup ? I called Telenor and they have never heard of it. But they also didn´t no what a Tytn was.
In my Qtek S200 and Nokia N80 it doesnt popup so it is something special with the Tytn.

Thank you !!
It seems to work - found some service in the registry with that name and also a STK_service.dll in the windows folder and some STK exe´s. Looks like it is some SIM toolkit application. Deleted it and hadn´t got that popup since that!

I did a full backup first and don´t think I ever will need it. It seems to be som extra service Telenor is having for its customers and and the sim toolkit I don´t use. Have no contacts or whatsoever stored on the sim.
Does anyone have the oz cab that is compatible with WM6? I deleted mine off, but have decided that IM+ and mundu take up too much resources for the little I use them. I have unlimited text messaging with my family plan, so I would like to go ahead and reload oz, but don't want to have to do a hard reset in order to do so.
Any help would be much appreciated. I searched, but couldn't find it.
Thanks.

Thank you. Unfortunately, now I can't get the darn thing to work. It keeps saying communication error and to check my settings.

I had the same problem, what you need to do is uninstall it, and install it to your device. If you had it installed to your storage it will continue to give the error. If you install to device it will work just fine. Hope that helps!
If you want it to work you're goin to have to hard reset and let the T-Mo customizations run. Remember Oz IM runs off you're SMS and not a dedicated internet app, so there will be some settings that would have to be tweaked in order to sync it. I don't know if anyone has made it work or even tried to yet, but there are other options out there. There's IM+ and Agile but you'll have to purchase them after trial period, and there's also imov and palringo which are both free, but have their share of problems. All run on internet so it's much better than sms based.
I personally use a combo of palringo and imov. Palringo is better looking and more feature rich than imov but disconnects frequently even when there's service. Also, as of right now, there's a problem with switching between different chats. It doesn't save your conversion once you exit out and there's no workaround at the moment. Imov basically has no features, is very basic in looks, and has ads that take up about one-third of your screen, but it is much more stable. You can leave it running overnight.
Hope this helps
You don't have to do a hard reset and let the Tmo extras run, I am running my wing debranded with the cab re-installed to my device, and it works for me with no problems. Although you can use the other programs papito mentions if you have a data plan. If you just have a text msg plan use the oz cab.
how do i choose to install on the device? it doesnt give me an option. i use 8525 btw
or are you guys talking about miucro sd card cuz i dont have one

thx alot ive been lookin everywhere for this.
Whats Is OZ Pocket PC? Just got my wing and I'm looking to trick it out.
Thanks
Okay, I think I have this OZ communicator figured out somewhat. It seems that there is a registry key that makes a connection to a site that (I would assume) handles the IM/SMS exchange for the OZ IM Client (HKCU\Software\OZ Communications\Configuration\1\Network) which points at http://aol.cwmim.com:1171 I would think that it is the conversion here that creates the text message charge. I would think that t-mobile would have a similar site to put in here that handles conversion for their network. Anyone have a t-mobile phone with OZ, and can pass that out to us?

I have a t-mobile wing with a custom rom on it. I wanted to install Oz because i wanted to have the instant messengers. I do have unlimited text and the basic data plan. When I installed the program, it gave me a communication error and to check the settings but it also sent me a text message...which I didnt understand. How can I get the program to work? I have it installed on the device memory already.
Does anybody know what SmsListener_log.txt in My Device/Temp is? It keeps a log of all text messages even after they are cleared from the deleted items. Can it be disabled?
Heh, I also just found this file and wondered what it was from and why it's there.
Any ideas?
Not on mine. 1.66 stock.
Not on mine either, Stock 1.66.
Hmm, that is weird, I have it too.
Running the Stock USA Tmobile ROM. Definitely seems like it's Sense related since it's written is some type of code/interface.
It doesn't really bother me, though i could see why someone would be upset by it.
I wonder what would happen if someone were to delete the file.....
I have it too, 12.5MBs.
I am running a stock T-Mobile USA rom. I have deleted the file, but it reappears when there are new text messages.
No big deal, but if I delete a message, it would be nice if it were really deleted.
Hehe, I'm wondering what T-Mobile was thinking when they implemented this in their ROM... "Lets just store every SMS in a separate file" ..?
Sounds to me like a conspiration...
cant someone try to write a "lets bomb usa" text, make up some plans and send it to your own phone, then wait a few minutes and see if the feds shows up? lol
I found a way to disable this log:
1. Open the registry editor and navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\SMS\Rules.
2. Delete the following value: {54F38CD4-B778-28BA-6F63-2D942AFCCD7D}.
3. Soft-reset.
Notes:
This GUID represents a CLSID for the messaging rules client in \Windows\SmsListener.dll. I do not know what exactly it does, nor do I know what other messaging rules clients referenced in "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\SMS\Rules" do.
Messaging rules client can move, modify or even delete the incoming message without owner's knowledge. It could be that TMO included this SmsListener.dll to be able to control our phones through SMS. Or may be I'm just paranoid. It would be really nice if someone could reverse engineer this dll to see what it really can do in certain circumstances.
Thanks, deleted entry, will see how it goes.
Not on mine, O2 1.43 Rom

maybe they will knock on our doors here in norway for finding out about their conspiracy and stuff...
bare å løpe over til sverige eller noe nå!! hehe...
I have deleted the registry entry as mentioned above. So far so good-no log of text messages taking up room.
Is there some sort of temp file cleaner for the HD2, similar to CCleaner for a desktop?
Thanks for the help.
Nobody felt the need to ask your service provider why the hell they're logging SMS to a seperate file?
good registry find

Do you think they will really be willing to tell you that even if you're able to reach someone who knows?
Interesting. I don't have this log either.
i have it along with a screenshot (have no idea why the phone takes random screenshots)...
