Hi
I don't think this has been mentioned before, so I hope someone has an idea.
Exec on corp install, with MSN Messenger used and then exited (using P+ so should all disappear once it's exited). A few seconds later, and until I get fed up and do a reset, I keep getting connection bubbles showing it's reconnecting to the net. It's as though the MSN connection or program is still active and keeps trying to re-establish the net connection to it.
Anyone else have this?
Cheers

Sure u havn't applied the "gprs always on" reg hack? Symptoms match exactly the desired behaviour of this hack. Search this board for registry settings so u can check yours.
If I'd put the registry hack on, do you think I'd have posted about GPRS reconnecting??

lol....I've been using XDA's since 'back in the day' and I ain't that dim
Thanks for trying though matey, all suggestions welcome. I take it noone else has had this problem?

Had the same problem today, I found the only way was to go the start/ settings/ system/ Memory and select the running progams from here close it down (MSN) the system doesn't like like and you get a warning but it does close the application - perhaps an incompatability issue with the 2005 OS? - Mike
I have also had this problem, I found that although Messenger had signed out the MSN utils generally hadn't but by clicking "switch user" in the softkey menu it logged off and stopped connecting
Sorry I forgot to reply...
Tried that next time I connected to MSN and after using the Switch User option, it stopped the reconnecting.
Thanks all.

After a while, don’t know how long, the Magician stopped receiving MMS messages. At first I didn’t understand why this was happening.
Today, after some testing I’ve found out that the only way to be able to recieve a MMS was if the Messaging client was left open (resident in memory) and if by any chance, the referred program is closed, all MMS sent to the device are lost, as it doesn’t even start the connection. The only noticeable fact is that the device powers up and that’s all. It really seems like a bug.
Is there by any chance someone that can help me with this problem? Or had similar issues?
The version of the Arcsoft MMS Composer = 2.0.0.22

After doing extensive searches on the net, i wasn't able to discover anything taht could be of help to this particular problem.
So, i went to a workaround solution that solves the problem, creating a shortcut on the startup folder that starts the messaging pack in background, thus forcing the mail/mms program to get loaded each time the device is restarted.
The sortcut -> "19# "\windows\tmail.exe" -RunInBKG"
Maybe this can be of help to someone else.
Thanks! This shortcut is resolving the same problem for me, but it seems once i closed the Messaging application with SPB Plus' 2.5 close task feature, it does not work anymore...
So in addition, you need to edit the settings for the close button and define an exception for "tmail.exe"

Yes that's right esackbauer. I forgot to mention that once you enter the messaging app you must keep it running...

Hi peeps.
After reading through various posts on this board, I thought I would hard resst my exec and install the cabs manually as suggested to get the features I want without the bloatware.
So far so good, installed everything I wanted and the connections only cab that is availble but, my MMS doesn't seem to work.
There is no MMS account in poutlook and there's noway that I can see of composing new MMS messages.
How does everyone else go on with this because when I've looked through some of the posts, everyone says thier SMS is working OK.
It's probably something stupid...
Cheers,
Smiff.
See? That's what happens when you don't proof-read your posts - there's loads of spelling mistooks and typos; and then no-one responds.
But seriously, someone else must have seen this as I'm not the only one to do a minimal install. Any ideas?
Cheers,
Smiff.
Answers in this thread for the cab file to install.

I've read that one multiple times but still have no working MMS in this situation...
I THINK
I beleive you have to create new account. It appears to be setting up email just continue through and at some point you can select type and set to mms. Then highlight account click on settings and put in your providers mms setting and bingo...
must say I havent had this problem on the exec but did on xdaiis and that solved it..
hope that helps
stay happy

Hi
Thanks for the tip but unfortunately, it didn't work that way
However, I have managed to get it working now - i did a hard reset again and a clean install and then installed 5 cabs - voicemail one, bt patch, both "shortcut" ones and the uaprof one.
The only thing I did differently this time from all the others is that I switched it off with the power button and on again before soft resetting it - i'm pretty sure that this did the trick

So before you say it, I've Google'd the entire site, and several other sites trying to find a cure for activesync. I use Quick Menu to auto close activesync. I've set up a dummy server, changed everything to manual. I turned off any serial port other than usb. But it still comes on every time I connect to the internet and wants to sync remotely. I even thought it would be better after I flashed OT4.0, but it actually got worse... Are there any other suggestions, or is anyone else having this problem?
I just use quickmenu to Not Show and Not Close. You can use your taskmanager to kill the process but it will restart randomly anyway it is a persistant process.
yep that's why i gave up trying to mess with activsync.
There has to be something that triggers it, nothing is random. Maybe when it goes online to update weather or email? Someone has to know something. I can't believe that everyone has this problem. It's like my phone runs just the way I like, except it "randomly" gives me the finger.
This problem has driven me nuts and I figured out how to fix it. You need a program like Total Commander, I use Task Manager (not the default one on the phone). Go to where the Notifications are listed, look for one called "repllog.exe" you should have 3 of them. Look for the one that says AppRunAfterTimeChange and disable it. Do a soft reset and you should be set let me know if this works for you.
activesync fix
start/settings/personal/phone/timezones, and uncheck "automatic change time zone and clock" button
thats all you have to do
Thanks Digit! But doesn't this mean that my system time won't automatically update? I can live with that, just curious...
I can send files but not receive with bluetooth. I am paired up with my mates phone, he can see me, ive ticked the receive incoming files box, ive tried with and without the 'authentication passkey required' box ticked. I installed something 'obex inbox' but that did squat all. any ideas??
I had the same issue pal, in the "obex inbox settings" make sure that the default download directory points to an ACTUALLY EXISTING directory. If it doesn't then type in an existing path (i.e. "\Storage Card\[a folder of your choosing that actually exists]). Browsing did not work for me, i had to manually insert the path. I guess it is probably a localisation's issue, but after this little trick everything came back to normal and i could send/receive files without any problems. Hope this works for you
Hi mate! This also happened to me after installing an application that i think is not compatible with xperia and i just hard reset my phone to fix it.
Can you explain in details what you did to correct the problem? I would really appreciate it and thanks in advance.
<error in post, removed>
Where can i find the "obex inbox settings"?
Yes i have the same problem. I am not sure if i had installed a programm that isn't compatible with xperia. I hav installed some games and some progs. Can i solve the problem by unistalling the progs or have i also to do a hard reset??
PS: Sorry for my bad englisch.
it won't do you any good as that is what i have done also. let just wait for MacCarron to further explain what he did or if you can't wait just hard reset your phone but be sure to backup of your contacts first.
When im in Setting>Connections>Obex Inbox, I cannot find 'Settings'. The two soft keys at the bottom just display whatever program is running 'benneath' it. When i press on the three dots '...' next to the 'File store path' text box nothing happens. In this text box there is already the path '\Storage Card\FTP' and I have manually created a folder 'FTP' in my storage cards root directory. Did you guys have this same problem?
I still cannot receive bluetooth files!
Why can´t I find this menu "Setting>Connections>Obex Inbox" ??
You need to download it and install it:

It sounded really odd to us when we tried the Bluetooth, but the magic word is Beam, you need to go to Setting -> Connection ->Beam -> and tick the box "Receive all incoming beams.
No installs or downloads anything else needed for me. I think it's the same for the HTC handset, maybe for all Windows Mobile phones, correct me if I am wrong, would be interesting to find out.
I have ticked the box, but nothing happens. I still can't receive anything.
I also have tried Obex Inbox. I changed the settings, but that doens't help.
Is here somebody that has another idea instead of a hard reset? Probably unistalling all programms that aren't compatibele with Xperia.
Does anyone know how i can find out which programm is compatible and which isn't??
Please help.

as i've told you before uninstalling apps will not make any difference mate because i've tried it before until i came to the point that all that was left was the original apps in my xperia. anyway maybe others can share their experience too including a solution. as for now after the hard reset i am more careful with the apps i'm installing as reading every comments of all users and being sure that it is really compatible with wm 6.1 and xperia

Have you tried "revisiting the box"? It has a habit of unticking itself, it si on mine anyway.
I have been using the OBEX Inbox cab...
I love it!! No problems with on my X1i generic UK ROM!
On the OBEX file transfer problem here is a little insight from a problem I had!!
I installed PocketMax Phone Alarm. And I started to have the exact same Problem!! But I still could active sync too!!
What I found out, it was messing with the the OBEX Service Mask Setting!!
So to allow OBEX File transfers to work correctly.
You must make sure these setting are correct in the registry!!
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Obex\
:IsEnabled- 0x1(1)
:ObexServiceMask- 0x3(3)

Possible Solution! (If your using Phonealarm)
I've had the same problem with not being able to receive bluetooth files on my xperia.
Turns out its PhoneAlarm thats blocking them.
Under Profiles, make sure the setting "Activate IR" is on.
yes, there's no need to install anything just to receive and/or send files over bluetooth.
when you attempt to receive, do you see any pop up message prompting if you want to receive (if you have previously click yes, then it'll be default for subsequent receiving from the same device)
if your device is receiving but you ended up seeing no files in your folder, it could be that your device is running out of storage.
Hi,
Newish to this forum but need big assistance!
I have several HTC HD2 which have a problem flashing up the message "There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in your registered home network" when using any internet based application. We have several applications using the net on the phone so when there is no signal etc this message pops up quite often.
I know it is being caused by "HTCMESSAGE.EXE" from the process viewer in the task manager and am trying to disable it in the registry but can not find the entry.
I don't mind the connection dropping etc but the message could pop up over other applications making it unusable so it's crucial to disable it.
Any ideas anyone?
Many thanks in advance.
replace HTCMESSAGE.exe with a dummy exe like the one inlcuded and it will stop bugging you.
Note that this probably disables more than this single warning
see you
