x01ht - dialer that handles +? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi,
I see there are many X01HT users here and hopefully one of them might answer this question.
Softbank (and Vodafone before that) does not support + for international prefixes. Some phones sold by softbank (nokia 6680 for instance) has dialer applications added by softbank which allows in various ways to automatically rewrite + to 010 when dialing while in Japan and you can then disable the rewrite when going abroad so it uses +.
I do not have an x01ht, but I am curious if the X01HT can do this kind of rewrite, and if it can, is it done by some dialer that can be used by other WM/smartphone devices?

Add Chinese Mobile Conection setting in Autoconfig

i am using the Himalaya and Blue Angel in Mainland China, but O2 series don't have China Mobile GPRS/WAP setting in Auto config.
So i made it with modifing the cabs from DOPOD extrom to enable that.
*You can get automaticaly China Connection setting such like a GPRS/WAP/Dialup, also MMS setting.
*Also include some CMACC original Today screen and ChinaStock market program.
*Internet and Wap home page will change to CHINA Mobile Page
*change the legional setting to Chinese(P.Rof China) location automaticaly, if you installed wince.nls with china location.
If you need it, you can DL from my site.
# http://www.asukal.jp/Source.htm or
# http://www.asukal.jp/English/LocalizeCABS.htm
********how to configure to Auto config*****************
@You put the 3 cabs<CMACC1~3.CAB i upladed> into Extrom.
if you dont have enough space in your Extrom, you can delete some cabs for carries setting you dont need.<total 1.2mb together>
@you can add the following comand on the Autconfig.txt
[CMACC]
CAB: \Extended_ROM\CMACC1.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\CMACC2.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\CMACC3.cab
RST: Reset
@You had better delete the comand of deleated carries setting cabs
@ Put this Autocinfig.txt to Extrom and windows folder
<when you make hard rest, no need to copy this to windows folder, it will be copied automaticaly>
@Open Autoconfig.exe from Program, you can select the [CMACC] in the dialog.
*****************************************************
Of course you can install it by manualy with tapping those 3 cabs without using the Autoconfig.
Can I use O2 XDA IIs in China?
Hi Asukal
I'll go to China recently and staying there for a couple of weeks, and I want to carry a XDA IIs with me for receiving phone calls and checking emails online. My phone contract is with O2.
Can I use my phone on China Mobile or China Unicom network? I don't like the idea to roam in China, it's too expensive! My phone is simlocked, as I can't use, for example, vodafone's SIM card on my XDA. How do I use XDA IIs (Blue Angel) in China with their local SIM card? I belive you've get it working, haven't you? Could you let me know how you did it?
Many thanks.
jianzhong
yes i am using Blue Angel in china, also.
But i want to say, China Unicom doesn't support GPRS and GSM data, they are supporting CDMAx1 ,instead. but XdaO2IIs doesnt work for CDMAx1.
China Unicom has a GSM service, too. but just for the Phone taloking and SMS.
if you need GPRS, i suggest you to use China Mobile(CMACC).
regarding sim locked, you can find another topic for the Unlocking of Blue Angel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=16564&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25
Do I have to unlock it before using it on China Mobile network? Someone told me my phone is quad band, so it should work without unlocking. But he's not sure.
Thanks

Alternate Line Service registry hack

Hi,
as far as I know, Windows Mobile for Smartphone supports the "Alternate Line Service", a feature allowing one to have two phone numbers on one contract and switch between these numbers. The necessary menus for this service are only visible if the service has been activated in the CSP of the simcard.
However, eplus (Germany) offers this service, but does not activate the simcard. Therefore it is necessary to activate the menus manually, which could be done on e.g. Nokia phones by so called CSP-override.
I wonder if it is possible to activate these menus in windows smartphone as well, e.g. by a registry hack?
Thanks,
Chris

Why not?
All 3G phones work in Japan as long as you are using 3G service.
At least Softbank and Docomo.
works fine in JAPAN
Thank you very much for the info !!!

hi Kitano,
are you using a local Japanese SIM card?
If so, which Phone Company? Softbank? Docomo? Does SMS, email etc all work fine? data browsing? Google maps?
Howie,
did you roam? or did you use a local SIM?
Thanks
Scott in tokyo (In Hong Kong in 2 weeks, and will be shopping for an unlocked phone there to bring back to Japan)

all HTC phones are not locked in HKG
As long as it is 3G card, then it should work.

Thanks for confirming what I had heard! Definately want to get my phone while I'm in HK.
What I'm concerned about is that they might do things differently in Japan (so you HAVE to buy a Japanese phone), so wondering if all features work, in particular SMS / mail etc... Has anyone actually brought a phone to Japan? How did it go?

Touch HD will work with Softbank and Docomo SIM, however, both work little differently.
With Softbank SIM, SMS works, no MMS. email...depends on the definition but PC based email, such as yahoo mail, gmail is OK. however, Softbank mail (email on mobile phone, very similar to MMS) can not be configured as MMS.
There are way of configureing this by some utility software build by user group, but basicaly information such as server names, access point, ID&password is not officialy disclosed from Softbank.
Internet access is OK, but access to Internet by default configuration (which is automaticaly configured when Softbank SIM is detected by HD) will use access point which is not fixed cost service. Which means you may end up paying a lot of bill.
With Docomo SIM, SMS is OK, No MMS. email such as yahoo mail, Gmail is OK.
iMode mail(email service from Docomo, similar to MMS) can not be configured. Docomo does not allow access to iMode mail server from non-Docomo devices.
Internet access is OK. I haven't confirmed on access point, but possibly similar to Softbank SIM.
(I only had chance to test for little while on Docomo, so not able to clarify)
I hope this information helps
Thanks Hiroakir
That's exactly what I wanted to know. Actually, it's more than I thought to ask! I didn't think about Softbank's unlimited data plan not applying. I'm a heavy data user (work exchange server mail)... so... I might buy in Japan.
Thanks again!
Scott

Android Registry Settings?

I did post in the sub forum, this under my specific handset (HTC Magic) but not getting much luck so moving to here for some more hits!
OK so i am new to Android, my previous phone was a Windows Mobile HTC SPV m3100, cracking phone until i killed it
I am now setting up my new HTC Magic, for my carrier, but I am getting the same problem with my HTC Magic as i did with the m3100 regarding MMS images, the problem is the handset is not recognized with my carrier (UK based - O2)
So when i send a mms from another handset to my phone, because its unrecognized with o2, they send me the smallest image possible.
With my old m3100, i was using a cooked ROM Black Satin (which caused ident at o2 to fail), i had to alter the user agent in the registry settings to fool o2 into thinking my phone was a different (supported) handset which gave me decent size mms.
I would alter the UA like this (after i downloaded a registry editor for WM6)
HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader\x-wap-Profile
Can i do the same with Andriod?
Thanks in advance

[Q] Cant send or recieve pictures

I am in New Zealand and have purchased an ex AT&T Samsung Focus. Love WP 7.5 but cant send or recieve txt pictures. I doubt Telecom N.Z and AT&T use different protocols.
So its either a software incompatability or the that my focus tells Teleco N.Z that the phone is a AT&T model.
So I seem to have two options Change the ROM to a different version of WP7.5 or edit the Carrier name. Depends what is causing Telecom to lock me out of picture sharing?
If I edit the Carrier name what do I out in its place to indicate its a Telecom phone.
