I replaced a broken LCD from where I had dropped my Cingular 8525. Everything appeared to go fine, however when I cut it on the screen is solid white. The phone is beeping letting me know I have text messages and making other normal operating noises. Any ideas what it could be, did I miss something during the install or could something besides the LCD have been damaged when I dropped the phone. This time it only fell 8 to 10 inches. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Stephen

A few months ago the screen on my SPV M600 took a knock which cracked it pretty badly, to the point it couldn't be used. I've rebuilt two other HTC phones in the past so felt fairly happy buying and fitting a replacement screen myself, along with the fact Orange wanted well over £100 for repairing it!
I dismantled the phone back to the screen to find it had a gold LCD cable and bought a new one on eBay.
I've now tried fitting the screen which works perfectly when the phone is still appart, but when I put the casing back together the screen goes blank. The exact point it happens is when I'm clipping the side of the phone with the volume control into place. The screen gets very bright as if the backlight is either getting too much power from somewhere or the backlight setting isn't taking effect. If I set the backlight to minimum it's most noticable as it goes from dull to full brightness when I apply pressure between the screen and board on that side of the phone.
I've tried sliding a piece of card between the screen and board to see if there was something touching that shouldn't be, but it doesn't seem to make much difference.
If anyone could offer me any advice on how to solve this I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.
I think I've solved it, I hadn't put a layer of the copper from the back of the old LCD onto the new one. It seems to be working fine now.
Hi everyone,
I recently changed my HTC's Aria digitizer because it was cracked.
During the process everything went smoothly however after that I have discovered that when a person calls me or when I call someone the screen turns off and never gets back to normal if there is no other "stimulation" such as putting the phone to charge for example.
My guess was there was a problem with the sensor so under settings I chose to keep the screen awake at all times during a phone call, still, I am having the same problem.
The weird thing is that sometimes when I remove the battery cover everything works fine and the screen keeps on, but sometimes not, so its not a constant rule..
I may have messed up something during the replacement of the digitizer (its just the glass not the lcd) such as removing the sensor and not placing it back correctly but the thing is that I dont really know the components of this device so Im not sure what is what..
If anyone could help me to understand the problem a little bit I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advanced..
Anyone? Please
The sensor is right above the AT&T logo. If the little rubber ring isn't perfectly aligned with the sensor, you will have this problem. My wife's phone has a similar problem and it is fixed (temporarily) by firmly pressing on that corner. The adhesive strips have failed and I am looking for a source besides "Repairs Universe".
Thanks a lot!
I will try to take apart my Aria again and see if I can align it correctly
thanks again
glad that i found this, having same issues with my wife's aria, will give it a shot
The vibrate function on my HD2 has not been working from day dot so I decided to open it up and check the vibrator. I pushed the vibrator in tight and closed it all up again.
When I turned on the phone, the screen was displaying what looked like 256 colours. The screen is still responsive and everything else seems to work (except of course for the vibrator).
Question is: Have I broken the screen or is there a connection problem which would cause this?
Any ideas please?
Im not really sure. Was there anything you did that made it stop working?
ok - for anyone in the same situation. I have managed to put a 3mm split in the flexi cable between screen and motherboard.
Off to ebay to get a new one now.
my d800 was immersed in the pool for a few minutes.
tried heating it with a hair dryer immediately. then left it in rice for a couple of days.
after charging for a little bit, i hit the power button. phone turned on like normal, but lcd was all messed up.
it was like distorted rgb dots all over the screen. and there was no haptic feedback to my touch.
the phone functioned perfectly - ringtones, led notifications, etc. only, i couldn't see anything.
i left it off for a couple of weeks, and switched it on again today. the display is only black now, but i can see it is backlit, compared with when the screen is off. and the phone vibrates now when i touch the screen.
so i'm guessing the digitizer works?
looking to repair it myself, whatever might need replacing.
any ideas, guys, on what i have to change here? or just leave it like this and hope it eventually works again?
also, suggestions or links for items and instructions that might've helped you will be much appreciated.
Hi,
It would be very kind of you if I can get some help here.
My Yu Yureka got a little wet in the rain but was working fine. A little while later when I wasn't in the rain any more I tried to use my phone. The display flickered for a minute or so before it went blank. I dried off the phone and tied restarting the device but I saw a vertical bluish strip before it went blank again. Now whatever I do, the display doesn't show a thing. I can receive calls, listen to all sorts of sounds the phone makes in general, feel the vibrations and even unlock the device while the screen is completely blank.
Could anyone suggest a solution to this? I would be very grateful.
Regards
SM
Your display is dead. There is no reviving it. You have to get a new display assembly.
