For some reason my 8525 won't ring on incoming calls. I have checked to make sure the ringer is set up in the phone and sounds settings and can even test the sound from there and it works fine, but no ringer will work when there is an actual incoming call. The vibrate feature works and other notification sounds work fine, just not for an actual incoming call. I've tried soft resetting the device, including pulling the battery and have even tried restoring to a couple of day old backup (when the ringer was working), but still no ringer. Is there a registry setting for this I can check? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Figured out the problem...no help needed. thanks
mine is doing the same thing...could you pls share how you fixed it?

I'm embarrassed to say that I simply had the volume for the ringer turned all the way down on the today screen.
hahah dont feel alone - i just discovered this was the source of my problems too (after spending hours trying to diagnose a much more difficult problem). glad i hadnt gone with the hard reset
haha.

A word of caution to fellow T-Mobile Wing owners:
I've found out that (occasionally) when my phone is ringing, the microphone is on and the caller can hear everything! My wife mentioned that she notices this when she calls. She can hear the ringer, and can hear me talking to others BEFORE I answer the phone! This can be really bad! The last thing I need is someone calling and hearing me mutter "What the #$%^ does this $%^& want now?" Plus it gives a big feeling of lack of privacy.
I thought surely it was a fluke, so called my self via landline and found it happened about 1 out of 10 or 15 times.
My next thought was it was software - some 3rd party app or tweak had caused it, so I hard reset back to the default stock ROM and still had the same problem. I installed a few different cooked ROMs, and still had the same problem.
The next troubleshooting step is to rule out hardware. My brother and coworker also use a Wing. I tried the same test and found the same issue there, so it wasn't unique to my device.
I called T-Mobile support to see if there was anything they could do, and they gave me a few bonehead suggestions: swap sim cards, hard reset, make sure the battery is fully charged...
Since this issue occurs:
1. With a clean stock ROM
2. With different cooked ROMs
3. On multiple devices
I don't really know what can be done about this. All I can do is watch my mouth while my phone is ringing until the T-MO Diamond or whatever Android phone they release comes out...
Anyone have any ideas? All you other Wing owners may want to try this yourself, or ask someone who calls you often if they've noticed it!
Ryan
oh wow no wonder.
its happend to me before.
but only once so im good.
thanks for clarification
This happens to me quite frequently. If you quickly put the phone to your ear when you answer you can hear your ringtone still playing, but hear the person on the other line as well. I think it's more along the lines of a delay in your ringer shutting off rather than the mic turning on.
Just my opinion. Maybe I'm wrong.

I do experience what you're describing, but this is different. If I leave the phone sitting on the counter, then somebody calls me, they can hear my ringer and anything going on around the phone even if I don't touch it.
It's like the phone mic occasionally turns itself on, and the caller hears the open mic instead of the normal dialing tone.

funny thing is i can actually believe that t-mobile said "make sure the battery is fully charged"

Isn't there a setting that says "automatically answer phone after 3 rings"? Could that be it?

But that's the thing... the phone isn't picked up. After about 30 seconds, it rolls over to voicemail and shows as a missed call...

Hey everyone this is my first post so i apologise if this problem has been discussed at length already.
Ok so my current problem is that my htc hd2 wont make any sound whatsoever when using the rear speaker (so thats any ringing from incoming calls, notifications, videos, music etc..). I have played with the sound settings relentlessly but can't seem to change its current state and I have also done several hard resets. However, when accepting a phone call or when a pair of headphones are inserted into the handset the sound goes through fine, leading me to suspect that it is the rear speaker which is the problem (My speakerphone after accepting a call also doesnt work).
On two occasions I have been playing music on it in hopes for a sign of life and have had sound on very sharp bursts (no more then 2 seconds). In terms of any programs or updates that I have installed on to my handset I havent done anything but apply the updates from the HTC support website.
The problem ocurred on day 2 of using this handset and I have also sent an email to mobiles.co.uk to ask about a replacement handset. However I was having a lot of fun with this phone and wanted to keep it if it could be solved myself so if anybody has any ideas it would be very much appreciated!
Thanks
Try a hard reset. If the problem persists after that, it's certainly hardware related.
Same thing happened to my HD2 today, all sounds just stopped working for some reason, music player ring tone, notifications, everything, did a hard reset and everything works again, it is a bit worrying when it just happened out of the blue like that.

Did you accidentally turn the volume down using the button on the side of the device? Stupidly, system volume can be adjusted using this button.

Yes it can. It either changes both system and ringtone together (if you only use 1), or you have a tab for both (if you use both volumes), as per the sound and display settings in the settings tab.
No, that was the first thing that I checked, I have the single volume unchecked as well.

I find the single volume the better option, less chance of this kind of thing happening. Other than that, it sounds like you have either installed a tweak or combination of tweaks which are not compatible or you have a hardware fault.
hey guys,
i was using my phone all day yesterday, receiving calls and sending texts without any problems but somewhere late in the evening, my phone stopped vibrating when there were incoming texts on normal (ring+vibrate) mode...i didnt change any settings...i soft-resetted my phone a couple of times but the problem still remains...
one more thing i like to add, the vibration works fine in vibration mode...it just doesnt seem to vibrate on vibrate+ring mode
anyone else facing/faced this problem? any suggestions as to what i should do? Thanks people
btw, this forum has helped make my leo f*cking amazing. Thank you to everyone

Make sure you have "Tap time" off in bsb tweaks. Assuming you have bsb tweaks, which seems to be causing this issue. Don't forget to soft reset.

i was having the same issue, and this solved it.

Yup, this issue comes from BsB Tweaks.
thanks! it fixed it
That was it BSB Tweaks
thanks so much everyone here is absolutely incredible! in BSB changed the 20 to 0 and everything started working prefectly (after twenty unchecked voicemails later lol) a little off the subject but wanted to Thank everyone here for all their hard work and kindness! because of this site and everyones hard work time and effort has made me grown to love smart phones pocket pcs and the hobby and enjoyment of enhancing them my wallpaper says its not just my phone its my life so so very true hats off to XDA and all their members for everything they do !!!
I checked it a lot of times, even tested it, and now I've found the root of the problems. My phone does not make a sound in loud mode. It does not make a sound when the alarm goes off, only vibrating. It does not make a sound, only vibrating, when getting messages, e-mails etc. Even when I am being called, the phone just vibrates, but does not play the ringtone, but the phone is in loud mode :S I did not tweak around with the phone, it is on full stuck, i has been working for 1,5 months, it started doing this last week. However, the speaker is working, it's not a hardware related problem, it must be something with the stock software.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Did you download another volume control app, it could be interfering with the settings you put your phone at.
Also did you try a hard reset?

Yes, I did download an alarm app after I found out that the built in is not making any sound, therefore does not wake me up. I don't want to do a hard reset yet.

Make a back up and then do a hard reset, if it doesn't fix it then you can restore the backup.
