MS VoiceCommand 1.6 with Bluetooth on WM6 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi Folks!
I've read the thread "MS VoiceCommand 1.6 with Bluetooth and TyTN?" and with the Workarounds given in this thread I was able to get VC1.6 running on my TyTN under WM5. But now I've upgraded to WM6 and it seems, that these Hacks do not work under Crossbow. Has anyone managed to get VC1.6 with Bluetooth working under WM6?
Ciao,

Yes ....use the same method.

Thanks in advance,

Thank you, you where right! There was one step I missed (but I can not remember doing this under WM5 eigther) - but anyway - its working now. And since I could imagin someone else could have the same problem I had (finding the important information out of 340posts in the other thread) here is what I did to get VC1.6 running under WM6:
---snip---
First, I have changed/created the following registry keys
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path = "\Program Files\Bluetooth Voice Command\BTVoiceCommand.exe" (string)
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\VoiceCmdDuration = 30 (dword)
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\LaunchAPEnable = 1 (dword)
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway\BTA GExtModule = "\Windows\btagext.dll" (string)
Second, Create the Folder
\Program Files\Bluetooth Voice Command
Third, Place downloaded "BTVoiceCommand.exe" in that folder
and the downloaded "btagext.dll" in the Windows folder
---snip---
Files attached.
Ciao,
DeepThought

Nice Patch... but....
Does this only work for Voice Dialing? or do you get anouncements via bluetooth as well?

Yes, only for Voice Dialing. As far as I know I'm afraid nobody got the notifications working on TyTN so far.

Voice Command on Dash through Bluetooth with WM6!!
I can't believe I got it to work, but with some help from DeepThought in the 5th post of this topic and other posts - I got it to work!
Here are the steps (many copied directly from DeepThought above, so he gets the credit! )
First change/create the following registry keys
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path = "\Program Files\Bluetooth Voice Command\BTVoiceCommand.exe" (string)
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\VoiceCmdDuration = 30 (dword)
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\LaunchAPEnable = 1 (dword)
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway\BTAGExtModule = "OEMAGW.dll" (string)
Second, Create the Folder
\Program Files\Bluetooth Voice Command
Third, Place downloaded "BTVoiceCommand.exe" in that folder
and the downloaded "btagext.dll" in the Windows folder (both files available in post 5 above this one from DeepThought)
Fourth, create the folder \Program Files\Voice Command
Lastly, copy voicecmd.exe from the windows folder on your device, to \Program Files\Voice Command
Soft reset your device, and good luck!

I just wanted to implement your modifications but unfortunately there is no "oemagw.dll" on my PPC - where did you get this DLL from? Could you attach it to your posting please - getting notifications working would really be great.

These instructions seem to work beautifully. Thank you (I too needed to use the modified instructions which suggests:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway\BTA GExtModule = "OEMAGW.dll" (string)
copy voicecmd.exe from the windows folder on your device, to \Program Files\Voice Command
thank you. This has been very helpful

No it does not fix BT announcements (well actually it does, just not the ones we REALLY want...incoming callers!).

this fix does fix the issue of announcements over bluetooth. Callers are announced and voice dialing over bluetooth works. Even incoming text messages are read aloud through the blue tooth if enabled.

Cool....i will have to try it tonight.....

were do i get the complete list of stuff to edit in the reg? or is this all in this post?

Check the other VC1.6 post or the Wiki - you don't have to make any reg changes as all the stuff is in cab files now...

Has anyone ever gotten this to work on the HP HW6945 or any other HP HW series device? I dont seem to have the OEMAGW.dll on my device.
I did copy all the other steps and I have voice command installed, but pressing the button on the headset does nil.
Thanks
G

Don't work for me....
I have basically read every post I can find, tried the cab files, and tried hacking the reg as described in this post. When I press the button on the BT headset, all I get is a little white noise. I can activate VC on the phone to initiate a call, and it gets transfered (sometimes) to the headset. I can answer an incoming call through the headset.
I have the Cingular 8525 Hermes with WM6 pro HTC rom Ver 3.30.2.1,
Radio Ver 1.40.30.00
I would like to have a nickle for every hour I have spent trying to make this work.
IS IT POSSIBLE?? Will VC 1.5 work with my system?
PLEASE HELP.....Pretty please....

Voice Command Activation via Bluetooth headset (DONE!)

Awe Yeah!! I am now able to activate Microsoft Voice Command 1.5 via a Bluetooth headset on the imate KJAM! I press the talk button on my Bluespoon AX2, audio transfers to the headset, Voice Command starts, I say something... Voice command does it, and I can hear it in the headset. Press the talk button again and the audio is transferred back to the device. If I press it once to initiate Voice Command that makes a call, I have to press the talk button once to end the call and again to end the audio gateway.
Here's how you do it:
In the Windows folder there's a file called sddialer.exe. This is the Voice Tags program currently activated by a Bluetooth button press. All you do is copy voicecmd.exe to a temporary folder, rename it to sddialer.exe and copy it to the Windows folder overwritting the original. You might want to back-up the original sddialer.exe just in case.
After there, all is well and Voice Command functions as above!
WOo Hoo!!!
UPDATE: An easier way is to use a registry editor and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/VoiceCommand/
..Then change the path value to:
\Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe
If you don't want to waste space, you can also change the registry to point to the voicecmd.exe instead of the sddialer.exe.
Will this be possible on the blue angel running wm5??

Ah, did you find the registry entry for that? I bet some one could make a quick program that changes that to launch anything the user chooses.
Nevermind, here it is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/VoiceCommand/

Bluetooth voice dialling only works with the MS bt stack at the moment, not the Widcomm stack on the IIi and BA running WM2003SE
Looks like bluetooth voice dialing doesn't wake up a WM5 device either.

I dont knw what I have done, but my bluetooth doesnt disconnect when I press the power button. Using buzz's patch(installed first), pocket zen phone beta (installed second) and the voice dialler cab provided (installed third, using with sddialer).

Change the Sleep key from a 1 to 0.

What setting did you have for bluetooth in PZP? Did you have the BT set to connectable or activate on call? Try setting it as connectable and see if that keeps BT up.
Not to go OT, but is "bluetooth audio" still NOT possible with the K-Jam/MS stack? (I listen to podcast/talk - so thru a BT headset is all I want/need) I would pay good money to somehow replace the current stack w/Broadcomm stack I had on my HP unit THREE YEARS AGO! Other work arounds out there? Thanks!

Yes, pressing the voice dialing button on a Bluetooth headset opens an audio gateway and launches the application specified in the registry. If the application specified does not automatically close the audio gateway (Voice Speed dial does, MS Voice Command does not), then the audio gateway remains open and you can hear whatever your Pocket PC is playing through the Bluetooth Headset. Pressing the voice dial button on the Bluetooth headset again in this case closes the audio gateway and transfers audio back to the Pocket PC.
Ya, I hear for a second but then the voice command closes again _ I can't keep it open - can you? How?
i am not abble to overwritting the original ssdialer.exe it says it is in use.

I just tried to do what you said with my old JAM & it didn't work is that because it's ppc '03? I'm a nervous-nelly when it comes to replacing ROM in these devices, but I do it for the BT audio...soooo question is : how safe/risky is replacing the VSD with VC?

Yes, it doesn't work on the old JAM. I've never had problems editing the registry, but if you do happen to screw things up, you can usually just change the registry back. If worse comes to worse, you can do a hard reset.

what does voice command do
There is one major difference between voice dial and voice command.
Voice dial requires you to record your voice saying a keyname attached to a contact entry. The memory on the phone restricts how many of these sound files you can have recorded.
With voice command teh software 'reads' every entry in your phone and translates it. It also reads your voice saying the name and matches it to the contact. Much more vrsatile. I bought mine for about £25 - best thing to add to the phone.
Also VC allows you to ask several pertinent questions to the phone:
What appointiments sdo I have tomorrow?
What is my next appointment?
What is the date?
What is the battery level?
It also announces calls as they come in - your phone says - 'Incoming call from Steven Williams'
amazing software - you wont look back one you have this - great for the car and great for showing off the phone to the office!

I was getting very frustrated trying to get this 40.00 program to work with my Tekkeon ET3000. Then I noticed one thing. In the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path, where you change the default value to \Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe, I forgot to put a space between Voice and Command. Put the space in there and it works like a champ. Still not sure its worth 40.00, but I am liking it alot more right now.

Change Bluetooth button from Cyberon to Microsoft?

OK, I thought I had this working, but obviously I wasn't paying attention, and it's not
I have the Cyberon Voice Dial app installed, and that works when I press the button on my headset, but I would like it to use the Micrsoft Voice Command 1.6 instead.
I have tried changing the following key, but it does nothing.
From: HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path=\Windows\SDDialler.exe
To: HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path=\Windows\VoiceCmd.exe
This registry change was all I could find any info on. I'm guessing something else needs to be done though
Any ideas?
TIA

Is there any workaround on this?

Voice Tags not working on WM6 Typhoon

I am using Andots WM6 ROM on my SMT5600 and my phone works better than ever. However, Voice Tags do not work on the phone or over blue tooth. You can create a voice tag but you cannot activate them. Can anyone point me in the right direction to trouble shoot this. I need to know if there is an application that is launched when you hold a button to activate a voice tag? Or, is this a function in the headset or hands free profile? Could it be a simple registry entry I could import from WM5?
Thanks for your help.
Same problem here
I have the same phone & problem.
And I can't charge through USB.
Anyhow, this version improves the typhoon far beyond previous versions. It's faster than wm5, wm5torage is incredible, there are no memory leaks (with wm5 I ended up with 2mb free and had to reboot frequently)
Cheers.

I tried to do what you mention, but when I disable USB charging, there is no sign of charging (expected behaviour) and when I turn it back on, the problem continues.
Last night I reflashed to wm5 so I can:
- Check that the phone still can charge through USB (it charges ok)
- Get the font configuration in the registry so fonts look the same in wm6.
- Try to identify how voice tags work and see if I can take some dll/key association back to wm6.
I'll post results!
Mariano
Ok, I'm back to wm6 and I've found the following:
* USB charging works OK... I don't know what caused it. I'm reticent to install wm5storage, maybe it has something to do with it.
* I made the fonts look exactly the same as wm5. This is how:
In the registry, set the following:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\GDI\SYSFNT\
CS=0
Ht=4294967281
It=0
Nm=Segoe Condensed
Qt=5
Wt=400
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\GWE\Button\StFontWeight\Wt=700
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\GWE\Menu\BarFnt\
WtMUI=700
Wt=700
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\GWE\OOMFnt\
Ht=4294967284
Nm=Tahoma
Wt=400
Anyway If you have Tahoma in your device's Windows directory some programs will look different.
Finally, regarding voice tags, I could only discover that there are no links like HomeLP.lnk or things like that to call an executable. It must be done some other way. :S

Found a way to enable built in voice tags over Bluetooth.
Ok, I have found a fix to enable built in voice tags over Bluetooth on the SMT5600 with Andots WM6 ROM. Create this registry entry and you will be able to activate voice tags by pushing the action button on the bluetooth headset. I have a new problem though. When you create a voice tag it is not clear and hardly legible. Can anyone help with this?
Browse in registry to:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway
Create a new DWORD Value and name it “ Capability “ give it a value of “ 37 “ all without quotes. Save and reboot the phone and it will work.
Please let me know if this works for anyone.

I have installed it and it works VERY well. I was really surprised that as soon as I installed the CAB file I was able to say "Play..." then any artist or album in my music library - right out of the box. Voice recognition was incredibly accurate with no setup required (I.E. "Play - A Tribe Called Quest" consistently no probs )
HOWEVER I have actually uninstalled it recently as I was watching the task manager and noticing that the 'VoiceCommand.exe' process was consistently jumping between 1% and 12% with no action from me whatsoever. This is not much and might be tolerable for some people but for me it is an added drag!
this program has some bugs
it will delay the sip and it will mess up the ringtone
however you could change the regisitry to fix it
if you don't need it , better dont install it

for sip issue u can check out the wikipedia here. if you are not an advance user defintely not risk to edit your registry
I tried it, but, maybe coincidence, maybe not, I found my battery ran down quite quickly. This happened over 3 days, so i uninstalled it, and it has gone back to normal battery time.
Maybe it is something to do with what SamasQ mentions above. Maybe its just my phone.
Did the incoming calls announcement work as well?
For me it was the only thing that didn't work.
Voice dial, running programs, play music, announcing new messages and calendar events - all worked. But incoming caller names did not.
On my old HTC TyTN II all of the above worked.
So I'm wondering, was it just me or don't the incoming caller announcement work on X1?
Draqula, same here, all worked but incoming call announcements.
try going to some website (win-mo experts or something and look for bengaliath, he did some extensive post on this program. I haven't had time to look yet, but its worth a shot.)
BTW, which ROM you using, (UK international?)

I read the bengalih guide. It was originally posted here at xda forums and helped me a lot when setting up VoiceCommand on the HTC TyTN II.
Now it's available here: http://www.winmo-experts.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
Unfortunately, there was no helpful info for me there.
I found and checked the following registry key...
Incoming Announcements are the function of the voicecmd.exe and the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\TTSAnnounce
"Script" = "as5p"
"Category" = "VoiceCommand1"
"Sound" = "Application Data\Volatile\TTSCallerID.wav"
... and found that on my X1 there was an extra slash in the location of the wav, but fixing it didn't help.
Let me know if you find any new info.
I have successfully ported quite a bit of drivers from x1 and blackstone to raphael.. please try the blackstone wavedev.dll (it must be cooked into rom) - on raphael this updated driver fixes voice command announce problem
Voice Command 1.6 also disconnects the bluetooth headset after you give a voice command. You have to re-establish the bluetooth connection again each time.
I've already removed the Voice Command because of this.
Other than this problem, it works very well in the X1.
The small print below the sales pitch for voice commander states "Incoming caller ID announcements will be spoken via the phone speaker on Sony Ericsson Xperia X1s with a Windows Mobile build prior to 15097.3.0.0. "
Any ideas how to find the build number?

I/ve tried in all combination, but coice command don't work with the callar id function. I purcased it, but now refund, don't work!
voice command 1.6 works fine on my X1 too except call announcement. I have tried all the recommended patches, but when I replace the files nothing happens or i get some crashes.
Has anyone tried this allready with success?
many thanks
Boris
I have read all these posts and see that most poeple have a problem with the voice caller ID being read out....
I too installed (though a previous version) v1.5 and everything works fine except for caller ID voice read out...
Another thing i found is that it would read email subject headings from my 2nd email account but not from my first email account....might just be coincidence...
Bit concerned now that I read about the 1%-12% fluctuations when you arent even using it....hmmm
Same problem, no caller ID name readout
Same problem, the callerID is not read out.
What version are you guys running of MS Voice Command? There are multiple versions of 1.6.xxxxxx.
I am trying to use it with my BT headset. That is speaking the name into my bt headset after pressing the button on it. Does that work or do I always have to use my phone for speaking my commands?
EDIT: never mind. I got it to work. By restarting the phone (so typical of Windows)
When i installed Voice Command on my Xperia... it errored out at the end of installation, but completed regardless. It is working perfectly in every aspect except announcing incoming calls. It is great when it announces messaes and e-mails so that i know whats coming in and from who...
It did announce an incoming call once or twice... but out of the blue.

Interesting. For me too, that's the only problem. Incoming announcements.
Somebody mentioned it disconnects BT HF and you have to reconnect manually - not true for my Jabra BT8040, it stays connected or automatically reconnects, anyway it works.
Especially useful when driving and getting new messages and next appointments announced by BT HF.
just a question that links indirectly to this thread:
is there a way to remap the button for voice command? somehow I wanted to invoke the voice command app via the earphones' button SE X1 has. so I don't have to grab my phone inside its pouch and unlock it and press either the 2 buttons I mapped em with.
