Change Bluetooth button from Cyberon to Microsoft? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

OK, I thought I had this working, but obviously I wasn't paying attention, and it's not
I have the Cyberon Voice Dial app installed, and that works when I press the button on my headset, but I would like it to use the Micrsoft Voice Command 1.6 instead.
I have tried changing the following key, but it does nothing.
From: HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path=\Windows\SDDialler.exe
To: HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path=\Windows\VoiceCmd.exe
This registry change was all I could find any info on. I'm guessing something else needs to be done though
Any ideas?
TIA

I think you would need to disable the voice dial in cyberon or if you can't, uninstall it.

Yes, thanks.
I tried, doesn't seem to slow her down enough though.
Do you mean the one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286457
Or is there something I've missed
Cheers

I can't uninstall it as it's in the ROM.
Apparently I need to change that registry key, but it hasn't helped. Am just trying to find out how to do it.

Bluetooth Voice Command
Check this link
1/2 way down page is the section on Bluetooth Voice Command
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Registry

Thanks, that's what I had already done as stated in my first post
Except for the path of voicecmd.exe because it was in Windows, not Program Files.
It didn't work.

OK reinstalled it after clearing out the Cyberon registry entries, and it's working now

I managed to activate Micrsoft Voice Command 1.6

(midget_1990_v0_1_vanilla_wm6) by doing:
HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path=\Windows\VoiceCmd.exe
HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\VoiceCmdEnable=1

Hello All:
I can't seem to get the phone notifications (Phone Calls Only) to my headset. Email notifications, Activating Voice Command from headset works.
First 2 seconds of the phone call notifications comes to the headset but the rest comes from the Universal's mic.
Is there any workaround on this?
I'm using one of the many Crossbow ROMs.
In my wizard everything works the way it is supposed to be.
TIA

Voice Command Activation via Bluetooth headset (DONE!)

Awe Yeah!! I am now able to activate Microsoft Voice Command 1.5 via a Bluetooth headset on the imate KJAM! I press the talk button on my Bluespoon AX2, audio transfers to the headset, Voice Command starts, I say something... Voice command does it, and I can hear it in the headset. Press the talk button again and the audio is transferred back to the device. If I press it once to initiate Voice Command that makes a call, I have to press the talk button once to end the call and again to end the audio gateway.
Here's how you do it:
In the Windows folder there's a file called sddialer.exe. This is the Voice Tags program currently activated by a Bluetooth button press. All you do is copy voicecmd.exe to a temporary folder, rename it to sddialer.exe and copy it to the Windows folder overwritting the original. You might want to back-up the original sddialer.exe just in case.
After there, all is well and Voice Command functions as above!
WOo Hoo!!!
UPDATE: An easier way is to use a registry editor and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/VoiceCommand/
..Then change the path value to:
\Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe
If you don't want to waste space, you can also change the registry to point to the voicecmd.exe instead of the sddialer.exe.
Will this be possible on the blue angel running wm5??

Ah, did you find the registry entry for that? I bet some one could make a quick program that changes that to launch anything the user chooses.
Nevermind, here it is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/VoiceCommand/

\Program Files\VoiceCommand\voicecmd.exe

Bluetooth voice dialling only works with the MS bt stack at the moment, not the Widcomm stack on the IIi and BA running WM2003SE
Looks like bluetooth voice dialing doesn't wake up a WM5 device either.

I dont knw what I have done, but my bluetooth doesnt disconnect when I press the power button. Using buzz's patch(installed first), pocket zen phone beta (installed second) and the voice dialler cab provided (installed third, using with sddialer).

Change the Sleep key from a 1 to 0.
As always, have a backup.

What setting did you have for bluetooth in PZP? Did you have the BT set to connectable or activate on call? Try setting it as connectable and see if that keeps BT up.
Not to go OT, but is "bluetooth audio" still NOT possible with the K-Jam/MS stack? (I listen to podcast/talk - so thru a BT headset is all I want/need) I would pay good money to somehow replace the current stack w/Broadcomm stack I had on my HP unit THREE YEARS AGO! Other work arounds out there? Thanks!

Yes, pressing the voice dialing button on a Bluetooth headset opens an audio gateway and launches the application specified in the registry. If the application specified does not automatically close the audio gateway (Voice Speed dial does, MS Voice Command does not), then the audio gateway remains open and you can hear whatever your Pocket PC is playing through the Bluetooth Headset. Pressing the voice dial button on the Bluetooth headset again in this case closes the audio gateway and transfers audio back to the Pocket PC.
Ya, I hear for a second but then the voice command closes again _ I can't keep it open - can you? How?
i am not abble to overwritting the original ssdialer.exe it says it is in use.

I just tried to do what you said with my old JAM & it didn't work is that because it's ppc '03? I'm a nervous-nelly when it comes to replacing ROM in these devices, but I do it for the BT audio...soooo question is : how safe/risky is replacing the VSD with VC?

Yes, it doesn't work on the old JAM. I've never had problems editing the registry, but if you do happen to screw things up, you can usually just change the registry back. If worse comes to worse, you can do a hard reset.

Voice Tags not working on WM6 Typhoon

I am using Andots WM6 ROM on my SMT5600 and my phone works better than ever. However, Voice Tags do not work on the phone or over blue tooth. You can create a voice tag but you cannot activate them. Can anyone point me in the right direction to trouble shoot this. I need to know if there is an application that is launched when you hold a button to activate a voice tag? Or, is this a function in the headset or hands free profile? Could it be a simple registry entry I could import from WM5?
Thanks for your help.
Same problem here
I have the same phone & problem.
And I can't charge through USB.
Anyhow, this version improves the typhoon far beyond previous versions. It's faster than wm5, wm5torage is incredible, there are no memory leaks (with wm5 I ended up with 2mb free and had to reboot frequently)
Cheers.

I tried to do what you mention, but when I disable USB charging, there is no sign of charging (expected behaviour) and when I turn it back on, the problem continues.
Last night I reflashed to wm5 so I can:
- Check that the phone still can charge through USB (it charges ok)
- Get the font configuration in the registry so fonts look the same in wm6.
- Try to identify how voice tags work and see if I can take some dll/key association back to wm6.
I'll post results!
Mariano
Ok, I'm back to wm6 and I've found the following:
* USB charging works OK... I don't know what caused it. I'm reticent to install wm5storage, maybe it has something to do with it.
* I made the fonts look exactly the same as wm5. This is how:
In the registry, set the following:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\GDI\SYSFNT\
CS=0
Ht=4294967281
It=0
Nm=Segoe Condensed
Qt=5
Wt=400
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\GWE\Button\StFontWeight\Wt=700
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\GWE\Menu\BarFnt\
WtMUI=700
Wt=700
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\GWE\OOMFnt\
Ht=4294967284
Nm=Tahoma
Wt=400
Anyway If you have Tahoma in your device's Windows directory some programs will look different.
Finally, regarding voice tags, I could only discover that there are no links like HomeLP.lnk or things like that to call an executable. It must be done some other way. :S

Now voiceTag is working fine. Great!
Found a way to enable built in voice tags over Bluetooth.
Ok, I have found a fix to enable built in voice tags over Bluetooth on the SMT5600 with Andots WM6 ROM. Create this registry entry and you will be able to activate voice tags by pushing the action button on the bluetooth headset. I have a new problem though. When you create a voice tag it is not clear and hardly legible. Can anyone help with this?
Browse in registry to:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway
Create a new DWORD Value and name it “ Capability “ give it a value of “ 37 “ all without quotes. Save and reboot the phone and it will work.
Please let me know if this works for anyone.
Thanks for all the help.

Help with what file WM6 uses for voice tags
Can someone please tell me what .dll or file is used when you record a voice tag. I am using Andots WM6 ROM on my SMT5600 and voice tags do not work. I want to try to replace the non-working file with a WM5 file.
Or, maybe someone could tell me how to figure out what file/.dll is used. I’ve searched the registry for anything referring to voice tags but I found nothing.
Thanks

Voice speed dial - voice command

Ok guys.....So I have a wing with PDAVIET .14 ROM. I pretty much switched as soon as i got the phone so i havent had much experience with the standard tmo rom but i am having an issue with my Voice speed dial. Basically if i go to the programs and click on the application it works fine..i can attach voice recognition titles to different contacts.
The problem that I am running into is when i assign the button on the wing (one right above the messages button) and push and hold it gives me the error.
"The file 'VoiceCmd' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
But it does work directly from the .exe file. Whats wrong here? It does say to reinstall if the problem persists so...what is the most recent edition for the wing? or is that even necessary to do that. I tried to run the app from a couple buttons but nothing. In a whole, i'm trying to get my voice command to work through my bluetooth. am I going about this totally wrong?
Comments appreciated!

So I did a bit of searching and I just decided to install voice command from the above thread. I know that it was in the Hermes forum but i assumed it would be all good. Now i have tried both of them and figured out how to get them to work. so now they are both working with the handset, all gravy. I think i am going to keep the speed dialer that came on the rom it seems to be more accurate.. Also how to use my earbud to prompt the command, i cant get that squared away with either applications. Anyone have a suggestion?
How did you get rid of the message? Even though I installed the cab, assigned the button (button 4 hold), it is still giving me annoying VoiceCMD error like yours. Can you do a create a brief procedure? Is it a simple reg edit? Where? Thanks... Hope to hear from you soon.

For MSVC, it should work out of the box. For others, I got it working under my rom since V2 by replacing some dll from HD.
Well, you pair a bluetooth headset, install MS Voice Command (I have version 1.6.19971). Then you restart, go to voice command and enable it (if not already enabled!), check what and how you want the program to behave.
You can select a hard button on the phone (left or right) to engage the program.
Then, when you press the activate/voice/answer button on your headset the voice dial turns on. There you can either DIAL a number by saying the number, or, CALL a person in your phone book by saying that name.
Have fun!
michaelthemage, you're saying that if you bind MSVC to a random HW button, the headset button on the BT headset will start MSVC?
Also, I've tried MSVC myself, although I liked the basic functionality (it's neat!), it drained my battery like crazy (4x normal discharge) and it lacks customizable functionality (e.g. creating a new voice command and linking it to an application.)

Don't worry. This seems to be disappearing from all top spec phones. Nokia's soon to be launched top-of-the line N900 doesn't come with voice dialing either. I had that down as one of the items that would make me go for the HD2. No worries, then.

i have installed voice command version 1.6.19209
i got an error message on the install but everything seems to work fine except when i activate a voice call through headset (plantronics voyager pro bluetooth)
it announces through the phone not the headset also incoming calls announce through phone not headset. once the call is connected it works fine on headset. and voice command accepts voice commands on the phone after long hold on headset button. anyone get this to announce over their bluetooth headset please let us know how you did it or if there is another version out there please post a link
thanks all
So...finally got my HD2...easiest machine to set up....looks great...works great....but for Voice Command. Installed the cab, got an error message just like getwet said but otherwise indicated a correct install...but I can't get it to work. Ideas?
maybe i have a fix partial
so i just installed vc version1.6.21725(googled vc and version no. download and found it) overtop of my other version in previous post didn't work with clean install of newer version so reinstalled 1st version then installed newer version
be sure to soft reset after each install then went to settings/menu/all settings/bluetooth/settings tab with gears on it/advanced/audio/put a checkmark in "play system sounds on remote handsfree device" /soft reset and guess what it now works i receive info on my headset it still dosn't announce incoming calls but i can make a handsfree call and hear the response in my headset
hummmm where in VC do i add voice commands to a contact.
the only thing i can find is under: setttings/other/voice command and in there its just settings, not the program and its features
