I just got my new Cingular 8215 and love it. I am on the road and the ability to access email is fantastic. However, I have found that I have to scroll through a LOT of Outlook contacts before I make it to my SIM contacts when dialing a number.
I know that I can just start dialing or typing a name (smart dial), but it would really be nice to ONLY see my SIM contacts when scrolling down the contact list when dialing a phone number.
Most of my Outlook contacts are only email address, so it is a waste of space and time for dialing!
Any ideas/suggestion/comments?
Thanks!

Hi is there an app where i can choose which contacts my phone displays.
Basically i want to hide certain contacts (about 30) and then have the option to show the hidden contacts when i choose.
Thanks
if you open contacts and go to 'filter' you'll see some settings. It's not ideal but in theory you can set the category of all of your contacts to business except for the ones you don't want to see...then filter to 'business' and the others will be excluded...
When i go to People i can see my sim contacts as well as those contacts i have linked up with Facebook (not much only about 5 users so far) when i click on search people or the phones folder, i have all my facebook contacts and sim contacts. How can i filter or delete the records of my friend contacts?
when i press menu button when im in search contacts nothing happens.
How to effectively manage the contacts i want to view and have on my phone if i've got 1000 friends but i only want 200 on my phone? can i selectively sync the contacts?
I find contacts managment a bit tough to get a hold of. My search is flooded with my facebook contacts but locally on the phone (i think) i just have the sim contacts
*confused*
Hi
Previously had all my contacts on the sim. Now that I have samsung galaxy s, and will probably stick with the same O.S. for the future, it would be nice to convert all my #s to google. Can't find any option on the phone to do this.
Thanks

Hi,
that is a good question..i searched for the same function but i did not find a proper option...i only managed to link my phone contacts with my facebook contacts, which is really cool
Thanks, if they are linked then where is the phone number stored, is it still only on the sim or does it go into the "facebook contact" which i imagine the facebook contact is stored on the phone.
I wish there was some sort of smart contacts manager application on the PC that you could merge sim <-> facebook <-> gmail contacts all into one set of gmail only contacts.
check this topic out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765081
it has several Contact managing tools i've been using to keep all my contacts in sync
I have yet to find an easier way
thanks to you.
Is it possible? Its pretty annoying having a phone number list of well over 500 people... I just want my PHONE contacts to be there, not facebook. Anyone know?
I think all you have to do is remove it from "Accounts". It will still allow you to login to the app, but wont pull all yoru contact info. I had this issue with my Hotmaill account and that is how i stopped it.
If you want it to keep syncing but only see your google or sim contacts, you can change who is viewed in the contacts app by clicking the top where it says "Contacts: All contacts" and picking a different menu option. (this will not effect the contacts part of the dialer)
Alternatively you could add some contacts as favorites. And those could be more easily found in the Dialer since there is a contacts menu.
Contacts > Menu > More > Settings
Uncheck facebook account
At least I think.
There you can check Phone numbers only as well to remove all contacts that do not have a phone number associated with them.

There you can check Phone numbers only as well to remove all contacts that do not have a phone number associated with them.
Click to collapse
Also if you set up linked accounts in the blur accounts section you have to delete all of them except the actual blur account.
The Social networking/messaging and a few other widgets won't function though.
I guess the work around right now is to remove accounts, create a list with everyone on it, then add back on facebook. Whenever you view contacts, use the new list you made.
I was just using it to sync pictures. I removed the account and downloaded syncmypix from the market. Free and easy.
Also, another "fix" would be to go into contacts-> menu-> settings-> then selecting "phone numbers only". This wouldn't necessarily get rid of every Facebook friend from your contacts list, but since most (at least of my friends) don't seem to list their phone numbers, this should cut down your list dramatically.
I tried the above tricks but in the end the only way I could find to get rid of them from the Dialer contacts (which has no options at all) was to remove the account.
Thanks for tip on pics sync, that's all I wanted too. The actual Facebook app and Facebook widget do the rest.
