I'm sorry to all for posting the same thread about repairing IMEI. I do know that repair imei is illigal in some country. I just did not find the answer i looking for.
Thre reason I'm asking about this matter is,
yesterday I agreed to help my customer to upgrade ROM on his Hermes. the stupid thing is that i did not check it thoroughly. and now after upgraded, he says that the imei in sticker beneath battery does not match with shows *#06#. he says that rom upgrading proccess cause it. and now i can't argue with him cause i didn't know the imei match or do not match at first place. he ask me to buy it or replace it unless i can match the imei.
So, please is it do able on not ? I just want simple answer.
if any one here know the answer and do not everyone know about it please pm me.
please ?! thank you
unfortunatly, even if this was the case (and i doubt it, never heard of a hermes rom that changed someone's imei), changing it back is illegal and posting an answer to your question is forbidden in this forum.
make sure that your costumer knows what imei is and where to find it (usuael on the back of the phone there are 2 extra digits that *#60# doesn't show).
ok, I guess i'll never received simple answer yes or no. I'll try talk to my customer with an axe in my hand just to convinced him that rom upgrading does not altered the imei.
Thank you !!!
So, unfortunately on my way to work this morning at 5:30 am, while on the train my phone was grabbed out of my hand by a teenage boy and then her ran off the train ):
All i was doing was silencing the alarm, he timed it perfectly. SMDH
Well, i spent all AM calling toll free # to toll free #. T-Mobile/Microsoft/HTC.
What i do not understand is how NONE OF THEM were able to track the phone for numerous reasons (allegedly)
Esp. since i was unable to do it via. the Microsoft my phone website.
Also, what is the point of having to report it stolen and file a police report for the claim when I still have to pay the same thing I would if i was neglectful and lost/broke it....?
Oh sry one more question, why isnt the memory card covered if it came inside the phone?
That sucks! It sounds like the kid knew to pull the battery as soon as he got out of sight.
If he's smart, he'll probably leave the battery out for a few days, or only boot up the phone once in the early morning.
Without the battery to power the GPS, the different recovery methods won't work.
If the kid also flashes a new ROM right away, then myPhone will never find it. Not sure about HTC's method, which may include using the unique ID.
There's a cab floating around here somewhere which will email you if someone switches SIM cards on your phone, or if you send your number a special text. This only works if they don't flash a new ROM first though. And it's a little late for you

Memory cards are an accessory and those are never covered
On the flip side of that, when your new phone arrives, it could very well have a new card in it anyway. Especially if they are loading them at the factory before packaging.
its no good to you now, but remotetracker can survive a hard reset if the sd card doesn't change, or be cooked in with your settings permanently, and it can cope with sim card being changed.
it also allows you to lock up the phone, wipe the card, show message on screen, get call and txt details, get location on cells when gps can't, recover any files you like, via email or even ftp. loads more, amazing piece of free software.
I wish i would have knew all of that ):
I havent even had this phone for a full month yet.
he is very bold though. smh he didnt even turn it off. me and someone called and he answered and had a whole convo! grrr
it really sucks that t-mobile cant blacklist the IMEIs like t.mobile does.
OH, AND ITS CURRENTLY BACKORDERED!!! Ugh when will it be over

SMH. What upset me was that they didnt even attempt to track it. Esp. microsoft. i told them when online it wasnt letting me do so and they said its only an online feature and they cant help. like wth is CC for?
They treated it like it was lost although i had a police report.
taking the easy option. no one cares about anything today. lazy [email protected]$

See your phone's location the last time it contacted My Phone.
We don't have a location. Find out why
It still keeps saying this. It wont tell me where she is located ):
It seems like a lost cause.
Im wondering why i can see this though, is it due to my email still being attached to the phone?

well he's still using your number right...? you said you were able to call and talk to him, so the phone won't know what his number is. However, I'd put money down on the fact that the very first number he called when he got the phone, was his own, so he could get your number off his phone's incoming call. Call the very first number that appears in your t-mobile call logs as happening after he stole it, and I'll bet the same guy (him) answers as when you called your number.
Either way, I would follow samsamuel's suggestion and start putting pressure on every single person in his contact list, or even put a post up on craigslist addressed "to everybody on this a$$hole's contact list, he stole my phone"...and post every single name in there, and whatever choice commentary you feel would help flush him out
Shoot, start posting every single one of his text messages online....especially the most private or embarassing ones for he and his friends. Watch his messaging activity too and I'm sure you'll spot and e-mail address or facebook/myspace account name, something you can use to smack him in the face with info....you may not know who he is, but you certainly have access to enough info about him to make him regret it.
I'm guessing at this point he still has no idea that you can see all that about him, so use your advantage here wisely....

That was yesterday. Afterward i suspended my acct and he must have sold it to or gave it to a female b/c she is in the pictures and by the text language I can tell its a girl...
So as of ystrday after I cut the service off, the sim card has been changed to hers but TMO wont help smh.
But you gave me a great idea. i know 9/10 i wont receive my phone back but i can make the person with it extremely annoyed *runs to craigslist* LOL
TMOBILE should really think about using some of the features Sprint/Nextel and others use....

Ahhh gotcha. Ok well yeah then I think the best you can do is just be very crafty with how you use what you can see. I still feel confident that they have no idea that myphone is doing it's thing, so just don't tip that hand too soon I know I'd have a bit of perverse fun coming up with ways to take advantage of all that!
It's interesting that myphone still updates to your same account even with a new sim/number....I guess it makes sense, since you log into an msn account to use it, and it probably only cares what data there is to back up, not what phone number or carrier account it's tied to.
Even though the myphone site won't tell you where it is, do any of the other "now what?" (premium) services show as possible? It says you can wipe the phone remotely if they work, but you may lose the insight myphone is giving you for now. But, it may become the final option at some point
EDIT: I guarantee you that T-mobile has the ability to do more to locate the phone....but without a supoena in your hand, you may never benefit from that

QUESTION:
I was just in my Gmail and noticed they deleted a few non-important emails i received ystrday. i jusat changed my password on all of my accts. thats means the phone will pront the password to be updated on there and if she doesnt know it she wont be able to access it right???????
First I want to say this site has a lot of talent on it and you guys should really be proud of what you accomplish and the benefits others get from them.
I started with a Sprint Galaxy Tab purchased day one from a local best buy. I recently bricked it by not following the directions to a T. All devices from Samsung, well at least my vibrant and this Tab have a factory warranty of a year from Samsung. I have used it for two vib replacements and then this Tablet which I replaced today. Basically below is the information I received from SPRINT moments ago over the phone to activate my device. My situation is unique because I have active service, but not on this tab so upon turning it on the activation process was different then initially on day 1 and I also rooted it with Super One Click prior to trying to activate it. The Sprint CS had me do this and what it caused was the device to initiate the entire data network configuration process all over but in a different fashion. MAYBE this is all already known or maybe this can give insight, see below::

510684492? I think 3 but there is only 10 possibilities. I think 3 maybe 4, sorry guys I got distracted and don't want to mislead anyone but the first 9 are spot on.
Let me know if there is any worth in this and/or anymore info I can supply. Strangest part was that during a reboot the Sprint CS asked me "Do these things make phone calls?" I'm thinking your the Sprint CS and you know that it doesn't or isn't suppose to. Why ask me now.... What info may you just have given me. Have Fun!!
a lot of reps are retarded and just follow a guide on how to do stuff, I work for AT&T I can't tell you how many times people call in and say they been transfered around 10 times because no one can fix a simple problem like "device unlock" etc, but anyway I have a Sprint Tab and I typed that in my memo search nothing change... maybe I'm doing something wrong? I was just curious to look around! lol
I'm not sure what this is supposed to accomplish, but I'm dying to play with the guts of my tab, and since there are no ROMS out there, thought I'd give it a shot... Nothin' doin'. I'd love to know more!
Got a Sprint SPH-P100.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
All sprint device's that connect to the network and have any sort of plan have a phone number, including aircards and the tab, now just because it has a number does not mean it is provisioned on the network to make calls, but if someone could maybe add a phone apk to their rom to test it, you may be able to make calls, but there also may news to be some kernel adjustments or other changes for it to work but you could always try.
Sent from my CM7 EVO.
The Sph-p100 (sprint tab) will not make calls (CDMA calls. Voip is fine) on the sprint network as it is filtered by imei.
If you change the imei to, say, one for a SGS, it works fine.
Also it would need a different type of service plan than just data.
What!!! I can change the imei to a evo and get 69.99 unlimited everything??? Its retarded to limit these just because its a tab

There's an activation for the Verizon Tab that causes the tablet to make a voice call for whatever reason. During that time I can hear the call progress via the speakers and a green phone indicator lights up in the status bar. Given that, I figure it's entirely possible for the Verizon Tab to make voice calls. Is there no such process for the Sprint Tab?

There is no such process for Sprint. But those switching Sprint or Verizon tabs to metroPCS have no problem making calls.
How hard is it to switch to metroPCs and what's their network speeds like
Sent from my SPH-P100 using XDA App
Call and ask. Metro is very local so it depends. Check craigslist or howardsforums.
You got a contract?
Metro is not the cheapest way.
Just for future reference changing your ESN, IMEI and what have you is illegal and highly frowned upon by XDA, and is best not discussed as quite a few threads have been closed because of it.
Now on a lighter note, yes the Verizon Tab does make an initial call to activate itself but that is just their way of OTA programming the device, where as Sprint does the same thing, just without an actual voice call it uses a more discrete and software based method.
So in conclusion I can't definitively rule out being able to make calls with then over CDMA but I do know that both carriers have a lot of authentications that the device makes to do anything that will most likely reject your attempt based on your ESN and the whitelist/blacklist your ESN is tied to.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
The ## number you pressed is your msl it is unique for every device on the network. It worked for you and will not work for others for this reason. You can however call sprint and ask them for this number, I myself have called and asked for mine for almost all of my devices. It all depends on how and who you ask. However please note that in here you have total control over the settings and can really do some damage if you don't know what you are doing so be careful.

It is not Illegal. IF XDA is frowning on it no one has ever mentioned it to me. Furthermore I apologize in advance.
As I posted in another thread, it is not illegal.
1) Legally named 'PCS' (Remember SprintPCS and MetroPCS) commonly called CDMA devices have NEVER been regulated as to changing ESN's. Only GSM (SIM) devices have. And ESN modification of such devices was repealed in 2003.
Relevant sections are Title 47 CFR 22.919. This WAS the section that held the language about ESN Changing. It has been repealed. (page 6 (p.77180) left column bottom.) Note that it is in Part 22. Part 22 only regulates GSM devices. But PCS devices are Title 47 CFR 24
Readers may Go HERE and select Title 47. Then the two sections as they wish.
So I was fortunate to find an S7 edge that nobody has claimed, but it has some lock protection on it. I can boot it up and go thru connecting to wifi and such, but it asks for the previous persons email and password and you cant go any further. This was after performing a factory reset.
Is there a way to remove this? Could I flash a custom recovery and wipe? Anyone experience this before?
Same situation as me
Hey man. Just browsing through and saw your post. Kinda funny cause after days of trying to figure how to unlock the one phone that I found on the TTC subway in Toronto, I finally found a way. Message me here or on Hangouts, [email protected] and I can help you out if you're still having difficulties with it.
No one should take phones left at public places except if you'd take them to administration. Didn't the owner try to call his phone? Or were you hasty to remove the sim card?
Lol let's pretend the owner didn't claim or try to find / call his 700$ Phone , Please keep this kind of discussions out of XDA or take the phone to the police, i'm sure they can track the owner by IMEI.

I already waited 3 weeks and no one has claimed it. I found it at my work. Case closed
There is tutorials on youtube for that
If you find something, you bring it to the "lost and found" section of your local police office.
Simple as that.
