Hello, I was looking at Helio and they seem to have very good rates for 3g and voice, but I am not so interested in their phone options. Being that they are a CDMA provider, Is it possible to get an unlocked HTC Apache to work with this provider?
u can change the esn and carrier system to support helio but u can only use the phone and txting but im not to sure about the data its a pain in the @ss to change it over to sprint i gotta use another phone that works with sprint n clone their data settings but the other phone needs to b active also in order for the data to work on the phone so the system sees two phones using data but if there is some way u can get ur own settings in there it should work witout a problem u just need the right settings i just took the easy way out by copying another active phone.
Anyone know the data settings? Example - generic username and password, is it [email protected] and password the hex of the ESN?
Voice and text works fine with Sprint PRL, data however, is not working. They don't auth off of Sprints internet servers, I bet they use Earthlink or SK Telekoms(due to each side having cash in helio). Don't know the settings tho, anyone know anyone with an SK Telecom CDMA device, or Earthlink phone? Net settings from either could be tried.

Yes....just read the forum, you will find here as much info as possible
One good tip: Don't play with stuff you know nothing about (I mean Roms), it could brick your device!!
Unlocking the phone will do 2 things;
1 - let you use it on any GSM network but you will need to add the data plan to access GPRS or Edge (the WAN).
2 - Allow you to flash different low level programs onto the device. Think of it this way, on your phone now you can set up an email service on Tmobile but when you move to Cingular that Tmobile program will still be there but useless. Now you can flash a new Rom which has some Cingular specific programs but you have to be careful because if you mess it up, you MDA becomes as they say a brick.
This is a great forum for learning about these things, try some of the simple things like Today screens or phone dialer screens. After a little you take the plunge like this newbie and flash a new rom, overclock it and generally just make it more useable than it is now.
okay i went to the cingular store and showed the guy the phone and he said it can work for regular phone calls and texting, but it wont be able to use the web and AIM, etc.
so when you guys say i have to add the data plan do you mean i gotta install somethin seperate to the phone? or do i gotta add the plan through cingular.
because the guy says i cant use the internet with it, so thats why i ask if i need to downloard somethin separate to the phone
You would expect that the guy behind the counter would know but he's probably clueless about what your asking him.
Cingular's network is GSM just like Tmobile. The data service is called either GPRS, Edge or the next generation 3G & you need to configure the phone to access that. I don't know the access point name for cingular but you should be able to find it some where in this forum, on Tmobile it's wap.voicestream.com. It's analogous to logging onto your wired ISP, you may or may not need a password. Once configured the phone will log you on and then you'll be able to access the net or email etc.
Worse case is you can flash a Cingular specific rom.
wait so how do you configure the phone for edge?
because when i went 2 settings then connections, it had GPRS Setting
Hey,
My friend's phone has (free) Internet access. I doubt it's free but I know she doesn't have a data plan, and she claims she isn't getting any usage charges for accessing the Internet. She's had Cingular for a few years now. Do they offer pay-as-you-use Internet?
Anyway, I'm wondering if I could somehow establish a connection with her phone and then access the Internet. Possibly Bluetooth? I'm using the Wing (HTC Herald).
Generally phones that have BT can function as BT modem. The paring on your side should be pretty straight forward but setting up your friends phone (not a WM device right?) depends on its model.
Yeah I posted the message because I couldn't get it working. I thought I had everything set up correctly on my phone. I probably... I just have to set hers up correctly. She has a Nokia N75 - http://www.nseries.com/index.html#l=products,n75
Anyone have any experience with this?
Cingular does have pay as you go, it is very expensive like 1.5cents per k. This ads up in an awful hurry. If this is a new account for your friend, you should check online and see if she is racking up data usage. If so add a data plan before the billing cycle ends. Can be done through cs and they will make it retroactive.
N75 should work as a modem with the HTC Wing without a problem.
I rarely come up to see a data plan in US that have unlimited data access btw
Oh also btw, theres a simpler solution to just insert your friend's sim card into your T-mobile Wing (as long as its unlocked ). Cingular and T-mobile both use GSM anywayz (not like Sprint or Verizon using CDMA).
Hi i was wondering if it is possible ro re-flashed my HTC EVO?
I cant get that web or mms ro work... I have it on metropcs already...
But that thing is that i took my phone to a wireless shop and they just got me txt n calls... but no web or mms...
I dont know what to do to get that web going or mms...
Is there any solutions i can do?

i check on that SDCARD and that only ROT file it has its called EARTHROT...

what are you talking about? you have an evo that is not on sprint network and you need to know how to get network access? if you dont have a data plan you dont have a data plan, simple as that. If you want a data plan take it to your wireless provider and up your game a lil bit

What im saying is that how can i get that WEB n MMS to work on my HTC EVO...
I believe its rooted already....
what is your information in settings > about phone > software information?

actually cancel that, your best bet is going to the metro PCS thread or contact them directly,.

1. this guy has a rom for metropcs,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=795182
2. to get the phone "to show" in device manager -connect usb, select charge only, open dialer and type ##diag# this will put phone into diagnostic mode and will allow you to connect to qpst etc.
Hi guys
Iknow, I know, it was many posts with this topic. I read everyone bu my problem is diferent, I think so.
I cannot send any MMS when my Internet connection by 2G or 3G is disabled. When I turn on this, messages are sending properly. (It doesn't work with WiFi)
I was trying MFG and setting in network profiles but this options doing shout down MFG app and system goes to Windows Main menu. I had the same problem with camera after flashing ROM (my other threat on this forum).
I don't know where is a problem. In ROM, in WP7, maybe my cell phone provider should do something. When I phoned to service support, they **** me off, said "this is problem with Windows Phone 7 and Microsoft. Please wait to uprgrade in December 2011 or later". ****, I'm very angry cause I don't like when my phone dosn't work properly.
Anybody has any sugesttions??
Step by step I'm closer to come back to HTC Desire with Android 2.2 (But I'don't want to do this all my heart). IMHO WP7 has the best GUI even iPhone has worser
OK I'm one step closer to solve the problem with MMS (I think so). I've just call to Polish LG Call Center and I heard: "This is problem with Microsoft Wiondows Pbone 7. If you want use mms you have to buy some megabytes in your packet and turn on Internet connection by 2g or 3g when you want send or recive mms". Very ****in nice Ok, there is no problem with tis mega or gigabytes cause I have a 250MB per month in Play Mobile or 1GB per month on Orange Poland. But this very unusefull. What do you think about it?
I always solved the MMS problem changing the XML configuration file via MFG or LG application (bad APN name is the cause, basically) but as you told me, it doesn't work...
maybe is just designed to send out mms this way WP7 itself? I mean, if u turn off data connection it shuts down ALL APN and leave on only phone and SMS center?
Then I cannot send or recive any mms. On message screen appear text somthing like this: "You cannot send message.Plaease try later" or I recive sms with about waiting multimedia contents. When i turn on internet connection I can manulay send mms or manually recive it
the.rider ..... the big problem is I cannot use set network settings in MFG. Maybe if I could change something in xml but i cannot I heve installed Network Setup from Market. This apps properly detect my network Orange or Play, correctly show provider number, order me restart phone and ..... stil fukin' nothing.
BTW ... Poland is very strange country. When you want buy something, everybody wants got to your ass if you buy. And when you finally buy something, every saler has you in ass and you may forget about any help, any support, any anything after sale
This is a reason why I'm looking for a help in international forums although my english is pure
In Canada, Telus does not allow any form of MMS without a data subscription. Make sure you have data on your account.
Yes I have data on my account. MMS works properly when I turn on Data Connection in Settings Menu I have another experience with many phones. No one had a problem like this. I think this is a microsoft point of view about Multimedia Messages. If you want send mms you have to buy data subscription. Business is business

What .xml file are you using in the MFG as I am in Canada and my provider is Rogers but i assume settings are kind of similar?
The release notes of the upcomming March update state better MMS expirience. Maybe they also fixed something...
I have a Telus Galaxy Note 3 N900W8. It has APN settings by default for sp.telus.com, which are all greyed out.
It has isp.telus.com, which I want to use (I'm using a data-only plan/sim card), but I cannot select it.
I added a new APN and replicated the isp.telus.com, but apparently by looking at my billing I was started to get charged lots of money, and the new APN I added is gone (I'm assuming due to a reboot!).
I do not want to root my phablet, and I'm thinking of sending it back. Apparently rooting sets off a trip counter. Is rooting the phone the only way to fix my problem, actually most importantly, can I fix this default APN stuff and greyed out stuff if I root my phone?
Any help is appreciated
Had a similar issue on my SM-9005 - Can't edit the APN settings, when I add a new one, it vanishes after a short period. -- Thinking that the device reads the sim for data info directly and pulls from it? - however the mystery of the vanishing APN I have no clue about.
Still looking for a solution.. Let me describe my problem again:
So I have a Telus Galaxy Note 3 (I paid full price), and I got a tablet only plan from TELUS.
Problem is, when I put the SIM card in my phone, it defaults to sp.telus.com, and doesnt allow me to switch to isp.telus.com.
I have to manually add a new APN with isp.telus.com, or else im charged outrageous charges. Even worse, sometimes the new APN gets deleted and switches back to sp.telus.com ($$$$).
I unlocked my phone and put a bell SIM card in it, and it goes to pda.bell.ca (apparently the tablet only plan is on pda2.bell.ca, so im assuming i have to do the same thing).
Have anyone been through the same thing, any tips? Do i have to completely root my phone and put another ROM like cyanogenmod to solve this problem? (I dont really wanna lose all my S-Note features though..)
I looked for apps, and apparently no apn apps exist anymore.
At the very least i need a widget or something that writes my APN on the homescreen so i can verify if im on the wrong APN often.
Help!

you can try to use this code...
*#272*IMEI#
Replace the imei in red with your imei number of your phone.
As soon as you press dial, it will show you a selection of APN network. Look for the one you wish to use but... this will FACTORY RESET your Phone.
I had Telus and wanted to have Koodo for network... so I chose the koodo one and now every time I put the sims in it loads koodo network apn
Hope this helps...
Do some more reserch if you're not sure.

I'd be willing to reset my phone, but I can't get to that menu. It says USSD connecting then I get invalid connection MMI, tried many times and different ways. Did you do this on a Telus Note 3?

Yes... Bought a SM-N900W8 from TELUS which used the Telus APN...
TYPED IN the phone dial pad... *#272*000000000000000# (replace 0's with your IMEI number.)
You should then see a screen as shown below.
Just make sure you see the one you need before you do anything.

Cool thanks it worked! You just gave me a workaround. If i put the telus one, it still defaults to the Telus SP apn.. So im gonna install the bell one and manually add my telus ISP apn, that way ill never end up on sp.telus.com!
I think i might switch to bell data flex plan, only if it uses the default APN set (i think pda.bell.ca).. I just got to find out what apn their tablet flex plan uses
Happy to see that it helped you somehow.
Good idea to do it via Bell.
There is a way to add an APN to the script but I am not confident enough on a linux system.
I'm sure someone could show you how if possible, then it would show potentially on the *#272*# Code.
